The food was excellent, very authentic flavors. The bean dip with a hint of chorizo is to die for. Everything seems to be made to order. So that means that you have to wait just a bit for your food to be made. The ambiance was friendly and family oriented. We had chilaquiles and tacos and the were delicious. We were on our way to Corning, CA and stopped for lunch. The chips and Salsa were delicious. This place doesn't disappoint and it's easy access off the 5 fwy. My sister recently moved to Orland and told us about this gem so my husband & I decided to check it out for ourselves. We arrived around 4pm on Sat. Darian welcomed us in, and told us to sit where ever we wanted. He brought us menus, as well as some complimentary homemade chips and salsa. He then took our drink & entree orders. I went with a Modelo Negro $4, and an order of the crispy fried Fish Tacos $16.99 My husband got their seasonal IPA $6 and a Chicken Fiesta Taco Salad 18.99 We also got an order of Guacamole $8.99 The chips, salsa & guacamole were all homemade and delicious. We finished the basket of chips, so Darian was nice enough to bring out another basket that were hot out of the fryer. Our entrees came out, and I couldn't beleive how beautiful my 3 large fish tacos were esp. on their colorful plate. The taco shells were soft homemade corn tortillas, & there was a hint of sweetness with the sauce. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Chicken Taco salad. It didn't look very large, but he ate the entire thing, and he was quite full. I too tasted the flour tortilla shell and we were both pretty happy that it was freshly made. Most restaurants either use old oil or make the shells days in advance so they end up being rancid and stale, but not this one. Jess, the owner, came out at one point to see how everything was. I told her the food was wonderful. I saw others commenting online about the prices being expensive, but I told her it's well worth paying a bit more for quality fresh food. read more

This place has only been open for about five months, and we finally decided to try it--wow, I should have come sooner. I ordered the mojarra frita and my mom had the menudo, and the flavor was absolutely there! It honestly reminded me of food from my home state of Colima. I asked the owner, who was working at the time, and he shared that his wife is from Manzanillo--she was very kind as well. I highly recommend this place. The prices are a bit high, but let's be real, this is California--what isn't? We went for lunch, my husband had the shrimp Diablo which he enjoyed, it said it comes with a salad and rice. The salad was really a carrot slaw drenched in mayonnaise and the rice was mushy bad. The food was fantastic! My wife ordered the camarones a la diabla with a salad, and that salad was amazing -- I've never had anything like it. It came with pineapple and a special house-made sauce that took it to another level. I ordered an asada burrito, and it was so flavorful and delicious. Honestly, there are so many authentic Mexican dishes on the menu that I didn't even know what to choose -- I'll definitely be coming back to try them all! I also tried a bite of my child's taco, and it was incredible. I'd go as far as saying they're the best in town. The handmade corn tortillas were outstanding -- you can taste all the flavor in every bite, with that beautiful golden-yellow color you'll never get from store-bought tortillas. The meat was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for truly authentic Mexican food. $90 for a small plate of fajitas enough to feed my 3 year old niece and a couple of drinks.... My camarones a la crema was horrendous. The sauce tasted like honey mustard. The rice tasted identical to Uncle Bens Spanish Rice from a box. After one bite, I could not eat it. I wanted to spit it out. My husband who isn't picky at all and at times might eat something questionable just so it won't go in the garbage took a bit and the look on his face after eating 1 shrimp was clear that he was not going to be eating it either for the same reason. I asked for my meal to be taken back. The owner didn't handle the situation professionally. I was still charged for it, I was never asked what the issue was or how to fix it, and I was told I am a liar by the owner for saying that it wasn't good and tasted like honey mustard smothering the shrimp. I was so bummed about this experience because we waited all week for pay day, so we could go to dinner there. Its very expensive for Mexican food, so we needed it to be our splurge pay day meal. I never wanted to write this about a local business in a small town, but it was gross, the owner is rude, and its expensive. Go to Farwood; get yourself a nice steak and appetizer instead for the same price and with impeccable service. The owners are also incredibly amazing at Farwood. 1 star I always try to support new restaurants, especially in our small town. I know how hard it is to run a small business, so I thought I'd share my honest experience and feedback. I'm not that picky and almost never waste food--but I couldn't even finish this meal. I ordered the carne asada burrito, but there was barely any meat, and I honestly couldn't tell if it was even carne asada--it tasted more like carnitas, maybe? The food had a strange odor that reminded me of garbage. It was very offputting and just tasted bad. On top of that, the place smelled like a bathroom when I walked in. The burrito was priced at twice what I usually pay at the taco truck, and they charged $4 for a fountain drink. Really wanted to like this spot, but it missed the mark. I hope they can turn things around, because I'd love to see a great spot succeed here. read more

Excellent food! I had the salsa verde and it had a deep, rich flavor. The corn tortillas are made in-house and delicious. My cousin had beef tacos and he said they were the best he's had in town. The service was good, and it's a spacious location with plenty of seating. We're going back this week to try other selections. read more
