So let me start by saying, I adore La Hacienda. I have them on speed dial in my phone and I have what I usually order as well as part of the name in the phone so I have ordered from there quite often and I got takeout last night and I ordered the shrimp and roasted garlic, enchiladas, and all rice. Let me say it was phenomenal so good I had it when we came in the other night probably a week ago with my son and his wife and it was absolutely spectacular. Can't say anything about the food. My partner ordered the à la carte ground beef enchiladas phenomenal so good. I can't complain about the food however I am going to complain about this because they give bottles of their sauce on the tables when you dine in and you can take to go cups home of that sauce when you leave they also give you chips and salsa and it's pretty much never-ending. I was so disappointed that they charged me $2.75 for a tiny little to go cup of the sauce that they put on the table for free and you can take some home if you want to and $8.50 for a bag of chips and a container of salsa. That was disappointing which is why I'm giving it so I guess the thing is you wanna go into the restaurant so you can get your moneys worth because my bill was over $50 only because I ordered the chips and the little container of to go sauce otherwise it would've been like 38 bucks. Very disappointed La Hacienda I wish I could've messaged you directly but I don't see anywhere on your page where I can do that so you're gonna have to read it here very disappointed. We haven't been to La Hacienda in many years, just because of life but we went the other day and not much has changed and we liked that. Enjoyed the chips and salsa. I got the fiesta supreme with no beans (personal choice) and partner enjoyed the carne asada street tacos. Times are hard and businesses are struggling...I get it. In an effort to support local we went here for drinks. Noticed the monthly specials on the flyer was peach and oooh yum front and center was a spicy peach margarita. Yes please! I'll take one and then one turned into 2 - not gonna lie. They were good! Had a great visit and the service was good. But then the check came. Holy moly - it was 41 bucks for the two! I lost the tiny buzz I had going. I looked again at the flyer and noticed they didn't include a price. Not for any of the specials. I guess i coulda shoulda inquired prior-but I'm sorry they weren't 20 each good. So disappointed yet again with a Chico restaurant. Ordered a large bag of chips and salsa to end up paying $7.50 for half a bag of chips. What a rip off! Just amazes me that you have to even pay for chips when they give you chips for free when you eat at the restaurant. Then I open up my $19 tostada and I am even more disappointed. I always give a large latitude to restaurants. As long as the food is hygienic and executed well, I say thank you and tip well. Our experience at La Hacienda was truly a disappointment. This restaurant claims a decades long commitment to good Mexican food. That commitment is no longer honored. The food was bland and barely warm. Beans out of a can, carne asada tough, tortillas cold, and the salsa was literally tomato sauce with no chile in it. My wife and son's meals were equally bad. The bill for three, plus tip, was $150. The food was firmly mediocre: we had chicken and steak fajitas and both meats were so overcooked they were almost inedible. No au jus or sauce to moisten them, just very dry. The peppers and onions were almost nonexistent. Beans were mediocre and rice just okay. Chips were warm, but not very good. Service was just okay - no extra efforts and the place wasn't busy.... It's a plain-looking, clean and tidy place with no outward passion. I wouldn't have known it was even there - very few lights and it looked more like a motel, than a Mexican restaurant. I wish this was the 90s/early 2000s to be able to write a review on how good it was THEN. Unfortunately, La Hacienda isn't what it use to be. We went tonight (2 adults, 1 child) it was $100 with tip for kids quesadilla, two entree chimichangas, and two margaritas. -Margaritas were watered down- honestly one of the worst margs I've had. -We ordered guacamole- but it never came. - Kids Quesadilla was average. -chimichangas were 7/10- rice was dry/ beans tasted like they had been made the day before/reheated. The best thing they have is the "special" sauce. Next time we will simply make dinner at home and buy the sauce. read more

I have been a fan of La Hacienda for many years and missed it since moving out of town. I was happy to have the opportunity to visit with friends and enjoy a great meal. The restaurant has been updated with new carpets and paint...maybe not really new, but new to me! Our waitress was Petra and she was cheerfully patient with the 4 of us. We were too busy talking to even look at the menu for awhile. She took our drink orders and then kept coming back to check on us until we had finally settled down and reviewed the choices. Ordered 'to-go' Chicken Tostada. Chicken was dry, cold and not tender. Since shredded cheese on top was not melted, it was obvious that chicken/tostada was not assembled when chicken was hot. It only took me 10 minutes to arrive home and chicken was not even luke warm. I ordered guacamole. It had a brown slime on the top that needed to be scraped off. It was so spicy as to be way beyond mild and we were unable to eat it. Chips and salsa were not included in our bag. Secret sauce has remained consistent over the years. We have been eating her for 45 years, but this may have been our last visit. Food quality has declined in the past 6 years and every time I give it another chance - I am disappointed. read more

Friendly service but mediocre food. The chips were fine, but the salsa seemed to be ketchup based. They also provided a squeeze bottle of La Hacienda "special sauce" which was a tangy version of 1000 Island dressing. The "special sauce" was tasty especially on the small scoop of lettuce that was the salad. I order a beef taco and a beef enchilada. The taco meat was nicely seasoned ground beef, with diced tomatoes and lettuce, served flat on 2 corn tortillas. I couldn't pick the taco up to eat because it just fell apart. I ate most of the filling with my fork and broke off pieces of the tortillas. The enchilada had the same meat filling with a little added enchilada sauce plus cheese. Both tasted ok, but not great. Midweek dinner the restaurant, which is large, only had about 6 tables of customers. We chose it based on it being "the oldest" Mexican restaurant in Chico, but would not bother to return if we ever visit the area again. read more

We recently used the back room for my daughter's baby shower. It was a wonderful experience!!! Petra was our waitress and she was fantastic. I've always loved the food here. After moving from the area years ago, a return visit usually ends with the chicken tostada dinner and an extra bottle of dressing to take home. Recently I returned for a family get together and decided to try the catering as takeout. We ordered tacos (half chicken, half beef) which came with tortillas, rice, beans, lettuce, salsa, chips and dressing, and added guacamole and our own tostadas and olives. The food was ready exactly on time, packed carefully, and we dined on yummy tacos and tostadas all afternoon. This used to be the second best restaurant in town. We went here very often for many years. The prices were reasonable, and it had a great selection of Americanized Mexican dishes. However, it seems like Covid killed it. After they shut down they went to takeout-only with a very limited menu, and then opened back up for full service, but nothing was the same. Their unique take on the Shrimp Diabla was probably their best dish, and it never returned. The prices skyrocketed. We don't go here anymore. read more

Hey there La Hacienda, if you have the nerve to charge 50.00 for a tostada to be delivered through EE the very least you should do is make it right. All I asked you to do was half the lettuce and put it on the side. Just so you know, the reason I ordered it that way is so that When I eat it tomorrow after heating it up in the oven the shredded lettuce won't be wilted because it'll be on the side. But you failed to follow directions so I threw the entire order in the garbage. I'm am so over the rip off and garbage you have been shoving down your customers throats throughout the last few years. And the best part? When I tried to call you at 8:01 to tell you about my experience, nobody answered your phone. La Hacienda in Chico was very clean had a great atmosphere, and the servers were very nice always there to help you out. The food was very good especially the garlic shrimp enchiladas they were fantastic. I've never had any garlic broiled shrimp enchiladas like them before. there was plenty of shrimp even spilling out the sides. There were 2 enchiladas that came with rice, either style of black beans or refried bean And salad. Not much has changed in 5 years since my last review of La Hacienda. Not bad, just not great Mexican food. Especially given that Chico has many Mexican restaurants whose food is not only much more authentic, tastier as well as also lower priced. I'm surprised since there are so many excellent and lower priced Mexican restaurants in Chico that they have as much business as they do. What bring/draws my family back about once every few years is the delicious salad dressing that they use for their over priced tostadas (that dressing is what makes their tostada, notice that they're very frugal with any other veggies on their tostadas), as well as their service is usually good, and friendly caring staff as well as their free chips aren't bad. Service-ok... we asked to be in a warmer area and they put us 2nd booth from door. Chips homemade but super oily. Steak Fajitas- there wasn't even enough meat to call it that. Everything tasted like oil. Meat no flavor and it was more like scraps of meat instead of "steak" cut of meat. Restaurant decor was not Mexican theme.
