The absolute worse Margarita's. I've ever had completely underdrinkable. Barry bizarre service model two Order at the counter and then they have to find you in the restaurant somewhere If you want more chips and salsa. Or anything else you gotta get up and go to the counter to order. And the food is below mediocre. In fact, I found it to be in edible as well. If this had full table service and made use of that beautiful bar by putting real bartenders that know how to make margaritas behind it. I revisited Sol finally. It had been so long since I last came here to eat, and, well, I was left with a much greater experience than before! The food was hotter, fresher and tastier than my previous visit here years ago and the servers were far faster and friendlier. I ordered a Taco Salad with chicken and it was seasoned well, was fresh through and through, no rotten bits of lettuce, and it was a generous portion, considering the price, that filled me up. The restaurant was clean and there was ample room to not feel suffocated. And the lighting and seating were were just right. My only complaint would be about the noise. There was a party going to where I was sitting, I came with some friends, and it was hard for us to hear each other from all the chatter in the restaurant. I've been to other restaurants that got noisy, but it wasn't this hard to hear someone. We were in the bar area. If you sit in the other area of the restaurant, it's much quieter. Keep that in mind. I think I'm officially a fan of this place. I'll be coming back soon. read more

I came with my wife and 2 kids (4 and 2) and ordered 3 dishes (fajitas, taco plate and a bean and cheese burrito). It took 45 minutes before our food came out. I could see from the expo window that there was an enormous to-go order being fulfilled, putting off service to the whole dine-in crowd, which is not a great look. Primarily writing this review as a hope that management sees it and maybe changes their order priorities on Friday nights. read more

I ordered a chili rellano burrito with pinto beans, not a rice burrito. What I got was a 90% rice burrito with a couple beans and a tiny chili rellano. I received a huge burrito and everyone was amazed at the size, however, I ate 2/3's of it, that was all rice, before I found the chili rellano portion at the bottom end of the burrito and portion was mostly rice too. I'd say 90-95% of the burrito was rice and the other part the chili with a few beans. Totally disappointed and might never eat there again. My local taco truck has an amazing chili rellano burrito that actually has a chili rellano in it and at half the price. Sorry Sol I an't making the drive there anymore and will talk folks out of eating there when we meet for lunch. read more

The food by itself was just ok, not that flavorful, maybe a 5-6 out of 10. The reason for the bad rating was for our experience tonight. We had not been to Sol for several years, but I had an old gift card in my wallet so we thought that we would give it another try. When we went to pay with the gift card the guy working as cashier told us that it was an old gift card, he went and talked with someone else and then said that they wouldn't honor it. There was no apology or offer to take some off of the price to make up for the gift card that they would not let us use. He was rude. Not to mention that it is illegal in the state of California for gift cards to have an expiration date. He threw the gift card away and would not give it back to us. We definitely won't be back. read more

I typically love Sol but I usually only get the Sol Bowl. I've learned I have to ask for less rice with my Sol Bowl otherwise it's so filling and taste only like rice. I decided to try something else as I was taking it to-go. I got the regular asada burrito with everything on it. I should have know to ask for less rice but I didn't because I wanted to see how it is... well, I basically had a rice burrito. It had no flavor, and randomly had a bean here or there, a piece of meat here or there and maybe an onion. FLAVORLESS. Just rice. A giant rice burrito. Very sad that you fill everything with so much rice. read more

My family has been going to Sol for years. We have always loved the food, the service and the facility. The food is always good the people are always friendly. I had my 50th birthday party in the hall next-door. I have had them cater numerous events. We go there once a week for dinner. There is a new owner and she will be the reason that Sol does not succeed. I asked about the wine selection because it is very limited. I guess she didn't like that and I was told not to return to her restaurant. I was very nice when I asked and I am very confused as to why she treats her customers like this. In response to Nora, i had no interaction with 5 employees. I ordered my food and then spoke directly with Nora. My "counterpart" was there at another time without me. I am a very nice person, a school teacher and an upstanding member of this community. I don't know why she is doing this. read more

I'm confused by the low ratings for this place! My experience was great, both service and food. The atmosphere is a laid back bar atmosphere on one side, with the other side being more of a take out/ fast food vibe. You can also order from both sides. Weird , but easily accessible and works somehow. You order from the counter , and have to trudge to where you are sitting laden with chip trays and beverages. The food will make up for it , I promise. Their salsa bar was a highlight and had 3 salsa options along with different topping options. A word of caution - the darker red salsa is HOT! Their burritos are huge and full of flavor. The carne asada burrito was fresh and had the right ratios of rice to meat to beans. The breakfast burrito smelled and looked great, there was enough left over to eat for breakfast the next day. The chips were light and crisp! So good! read more

I went to this place like 15 years ago once and never had been back, just never thought of going. A couple months ago my friend wanted to go and I'm so glad I rediscovered this place!! It is so quick, spot on every time and delicious. Friendly and efficient staff, and a nice outdoor patio to eat on. Their chili rellenos are delicious and I usually get the taco salad w black beans and grilled fajita veggies, sooo good and fresh every time. Been prob at least 10x since. It's not the food that I have a complaint about, it's the staff. Management is nowhere to be found and high school kids are running the place. I have been coming for quite some time and today was just the last straw. Every time I come I get the same thing and every time I pay, it is a different price. It ranges between 15 and $19 or more, but I always get the same exact thing every single time without exception. I asked why today My bill was $19.73, the highest it has ever been. To add to the confusion, today I tried to see if I could fluctuate and adjust a bill by removing the rice and beans from the fish tacos that I get every day and my bill actually went to the highest it's ever been for two à la cart tacos chips and a drink. I even complained to the kid and he literally chuckled and said, "I'm sorry I don't know what to say". There are too many other places that can charge consistently and tell me why my bill is what it is. Too many other places where if I feel like I have a problem I can get a hold of a manager and have it resolved. read more

I was mostly disappointment for my first visit. Had the carnitas plate and SO had the fajitas plate. It was cold outside and I was a little chilled and my first bite of the carnitas was cold cold salsa on top of luke warm meat. In addition the carnitas were not crispy and had little to no flavor. The fajitas were also very bland as well as the tortillas. The fajitas at Chiles are soooo much better but usually do not go to chains. On the good side the guc and beans were good and the portions were large. The service was non existent Yes they were busy but no overly so. Only time I saw a waiter was when the food was delivered. They did not even have water on the table. I really do not see why there are so many great reviews, It is very americanized mexican food. read more

Although the employees are young, they should have more training on how to communicate and serve the customers. I went in today with my 1 year old, after ordering food i looked around but i didn't see any high chairs, so I walked up to a server and asked if they had any. She said "yeah they are here somewhere you just have to look around". After I found one I sat down on the outside patio. When my food arrived I was asked "do you need anything else?" I asked "can I get a cup of water for me and my baby" just to be told "you have to get those yourself they are inside". The patio was covered in flies and while swatting at one I accidentally dropped my fork, so I tried to wave down any employee to ask for another one but was unable to find any help. I didn't want to leave my food and and my son unattended while I go inside and retrieve another fork so I called the restaurant and when they picked up I explained my situation and stated I needed assistance. The server on the phone was not very polite, I felt like I was a burden to them for asking for service. I will no longer be going there. I hope next time you see a costumer struggling, asking politely for some assistance, you'll have employees willing to provide better costumer service than what I received today. I live 5 minutes away & have always gotten take out & enjoyed the food , today my fiancé and I decided to dine in and have a margarita. The watermelon margarita was amazing , the bartender made an absolutely fantastic drink. Not a fan of the asada fries- The shrimp burrito turned out to be a chicken burrito and was ok . Tonight we rolled into Sol at 7:30 right after the kids' basketball practice. I know they close at 8:00, but I figured, based upon the reviews, we would be okay. I WAS SO VERY WRONG. The facilities were neat and clean. Only a few people in the dining room. We approached the counter, and the server had an attitude as if we were inconveniencing her because of the time. She immediately told us that it would be at least a 30 minute wait. That means we are eating at 8:00. We would have left, but there was really no other place to go, so rolled the dice. WE CRAPPED OUT. I ordered the shrimp and steak burrito. My daughter ordered the al pastor burrito. As soon as we ordered, the staff started to slowly break down the dining room as if trying to push us out. When the food arrived my burrito, while good sized, was very soft. I unrolled my burrito, and found 2 small shrimp and about 6 scraps of steak. It was all rice and beans. So disappointed. I felt as if we were shorted because we walked in at 7:30. While my daughter was eating, she told me there was no meat in her burrito. She had cut it open, so I looked, and there was hardly any pastor. I was really disappointed in the poor service and poor food quality. Frankly I won't waste my time or money going back. read more

Our party of 3 for lunch were handed chip basket, 3 small Styrofoam containers for salsa, a beer and a opener to carry across to the dining area. No trays offered. Super disappointed in tonight's dinner. We've given Sol a few tries and always been "meh" about it. It's been over a year so we decided to give it another shot. Big mistake. Placed an order for curbside, it said it wouldn't be ready until 7pm. We showed up, parked out front, and called at 6:57pm. They said order wasn't ready but was almost done, so they'd be out in a few. No worries, we were a tad early anyways. 20 minutes go by, nothing. So my husband goes inside, and there our order was, just sitting on the counter. Who knows how long we would have been waiting for them to come out for curbside had my husband not gone in himself. We get home, and surprise surprise, the order was not only cold, but wrong. I ordered 2 chicken enchiladas and got one steak, one chicken. My husband ordered no rice on his burrito, and it was full of rice. Food itself was just mediocre. Not worth the $30 price tag. read more

We have been dining at Sol since it first opened , but unfortunately the quality and value has declined significantly within the past two years. While I understand that running a restaurant in today's economy must be difficult, the Sol menu is an exercise in nickel and diming customers on top of the already high prices. As an example, on a recent visit, I added lettuce to my dinner plate for an extra one dollar. When I opened the container, there were eight strips of lettuce present. On top of this, when I placed my order online, the Sol ordering platform defaults to an automatic 15% gratuity. These may be small complaints, but as a whole represents what appears to be a shift from the customer's experience to the owner's bottom line. Needless to say, we will be patronizing one of Chico's many other fine restaurants moving forward. read more

Had a SOL gift card for 4 plus years and decided to use it tonight. It was noisey inside the restaurant, and somewhat disorganized. We ordered our dinner and waited, and waited, and waited....finally I approached to server as to where our order was, and was told it had to be warmed a second time. When it finally was served, it was between lukewarm and cold. When I told our server the food was cold / lukewarm, she said "I am sorry" and that was it. They seemed to be more responsive to the take out orders than they were to our order. Better off going to La Comida. I will not, repeat ...not eat at SOL again. read more
