Best Birria in Chico! I've been to a few places and they were okay but the consume never had a lot of flavor. Well Mas Amor was amazing - meat is tender and flavorful and the consume is tasty and has some good flavor! Order the BIRRIA!! I should have asked for extra cilantro and onion but we had a wonderful lunch! The decor is so cute and the lighting is calming and nice. Love the artwork super creative and beautiful pieces! The marigold garland on the ceiling is a nice touch and the music videos were on point. It felt like we had gone on a journey and left Chico! I had the Birria Quesadilla with consume and mom had Birria nachos! Neither disappointed for sure. The meat is so tender and flavorful and added a nice touch to the nachos! I was surprised my mom even ordered Birria but she was happy she did. We didn't order chips and was happy we didn't because between the nachos and Birria quesadilla it was the perfect amount of food. Washed it down with a Modelo and couldn't have been happier! Makes me want to go back for the Birria Ramen!! The salsa was served in the cutest little clay containers on a beautiful clay heart plate. The dishes were great and so was the food - I highly recommend trying them out I'm sure the rest of the food is good too! Can't wait to try more from the menu. Amazing quacamole and homemade chips! Very fresh tomatoes, onions and avocado -possibly the best quacamole and chips I've had! The two steak street tacos were flavorful. Prices were on point $3 for each taco and chips and quacamole well worth the $11+. Homemade tortillas with fajitas were good. Not so good-waitress was nice but never came back to refill our waters and the fajita tasted way too salty. Maybe I'll try again next time I'm in town and see if we can get more stars for this? read more

While the food was ok, the service was notably poor. There was a significant delay in receiving our drinks and appetizers, which arrived only with our main course after an approximate forty-minute wait. Furthermore, staff did not check on our table either before or after our meal was served. read more

This place is tucked away in a shared space, but you'll know you're in the right place when you get there. The decor is outstanding! Food is delicious and staff is friendly. I love, love, love the interior of this little restaurant!!! They definitely got the vibe right :) In the mood for a quick snack, I stopped in and ordered chips and bean dip and a taco. I also wanted a beer but was told they didn't have their liquor license yet, bummer! I know it's a bit difficult to get one as a new biz in this area but beer just goes so good with Mexican food. (BTW, it's a walk up and order counter not like a standard restaurant where you sit and they take your order. You order then seat yourself). I found a place to sit and as soon as I sat down the cashier came over and asked if I wanted water then also dropped off hot salsa with my water. Very nice! The chips were fresh, the beans were filling but bland, could have used a bit more flavor. The taco was a 5.5 on a scale from 1-10, no frills, just a basic taco with a little juj. My family first went to Mas amor for dinner, my husband and I tried every taco combination possible and lightheartedly argued about which was best. My 10-year-old son ordered the birra Ramen and honestly, we thought he unlocked the jackpot. We loved our meal so much that we actually asked that they cater my birthday party. My partner and I absolutely loved the decor here. We took a 2 seater tucked away near the back, with a floral backdrop, and it was so cozy and sweet! The food servers were extremely friendly, and we had a lovely experience from start to finish. We ordered chips and salsa, guacamole, veggie tacos with their handmade tortillas, and a side of rice and beans. Everything was extremely tasty, and while the tacos are $3 each, they're large tacos! After I saw the taco size the price made complete sense, and again, everything was delicious. Some of the negative reviews I saw before we ate here mentioned that the food was lacking salt/flavor, and a couple mentioned that this wasn't authentic Mexican food. The notes about lack of salt I honestly found promising, because so many places in Chico seem to only have salt as their main food flavor, and that doesn't do it for me. I could taste the salt in this food but it was enhancing the flavor, not overwhelming it, and that's in keeping with my preferences. As for the food not being authentic, I don't know what those folks think authentic Mexican food needs to be if they don't think this is it. I've had a ton of homemade Mexican food over the years, and maybe they didn't have nopales on the table here, but the meal was overall in keeping with my expectations of authentic/homemade Mexican fare. Mas Amor is a great little place right In The heart of downtown Chico. Great food, their quesabirrias were perfectly crispy and meat was juicy in every bite. The consomè was awesome and the burrito was one of the best I've had in a few years. Service was great I have a gut issues which doesn't allow me to eat seeds and certain foods the young lady was more than happy to check on some ingredients to help me make my choice on the food. The place was decorated with so much wonderful color and she told us that all of the decor including the tables, chairs and all of the dishware and drink glasses etc. all came from Mexico.
