Seriously their food competes with the best in the Mission in SF, for the entire ten years I've lived here it's held strong. I get the shrimp fajita burrito but any burrito is always big with everything evenly distributed, you get all the ingredients including meat from first to last bite. Gordo Burrito lives up to its name -- the portions are generous and you won't leave hungry. I ordered the Asada burrito and the size was solid. That said, the flavor was pretty flat. The asada didn't have much seasoning punch, and nothing about the overall burrito made me want to come back for another round. If you're prioritizing quantity over flavor, this is your spot. This is for the 8th and Pine taco truck. This used to be one of the best Taco trucks in town but once they expanded the quality plummeted. I went there today and it was awful, chewy fatty meat, minuscule portions, bland flavor and low quality all the way through. I don't know what happened but they went from the top to the very bottom. Glowing reviews from devoted fans, allusions that shrimp burritos were the best in town, that they could do no wrong, etc etc. Curiosity and the chance of finding the one Mexican place to outdo the rest made my lovely companion and not so lovely me drive to Gordo Burrito. First impressions at around 12:30 PM: busy (which is always a good thing) patrons coming and going, a nice outfit of what appeared an all women crew in constant preparation, and knowing that when it comes to good food there are no barriers I ordered from a congenial attendant named Jose the Shrimp Burrito for around $14. Tried to encourage them to make it count, meaning pretty darn good! Even went as far to insinuate I came from headquarters, whatever the heck that meant. Turns out there is a convenience store right beside Gordo. Not a bad option. Burrito arrived wrapped in aluminum foil, not an impressive sight in size. One half went to the beauty, gave her the smallest of the two, the other for the beast not much bigger. Removed the wrapping, looked inside and did not see but one or two shrimp, certainly not whole ones. The bulk of this relatively small burrito was no surprise: rice and refried beans, about 94% of it. This is the sad reality in the world of burritos making, load it with everything but almost never with the main star. My small half tasted good, and apparently my companion's also did, as she decimated her half rapidly. Their green salsa and fresh diced cucumbers helped. Yes, prices have gone up, I get that but the best in Chico? No way, Jose. Edible, at $7 a small half you bet your hot jalapeños! 3.8 Stars. read more

Cool little hole in wall that is appropriately tucked in next to a gas station. I have only enjoyed a breakfast burrito so I cant really comment on much more than that but it was pretty good, although I had to search for the meat in it and it seemed a bit on the small size for something that cost me a little of $7. They have a nice little salsa bar, which is really nice to see! The service was excellent and I was treated kindly and with a warm smile. This place is one of my favorite mexican places in Chico! Service: Service is a hit or miss. There's a guy casher here that's usually pretty nice and doesn't give you much issues. But there's a lady casher that pretty rude and will tend to rush you as you're ordering. Food: I've enjoyed all their menu items, but my favorite are the shrimp taquitos and their burritos. Burritos are pretty standard, but the meats are always juice and tender. They make it perfectly ratio. So I never have too much rice or beans in a bite. Their shrimp taquitos are crispy and have a good amount of shrimp in every bite! Honestly, I think their shrimp taquitos has drugs in them because I keep coming back for more every single time! I was craving a burrito so i looked up nearby places and this popped up. I placed an order over the phone for pickup. I ordered a Chicken Quesadilla, 2 Gordo Burritos (One Carne Asada & One Chorizo) and an order of Shrimp Tacquitos. I pulled up to the establishment which took me by surprise as it wss connected to a Valero Gas Station. A little worrysome I headed inside to pickup my order. Everything was tightly packaged inside two bags, I took them with me and headed home. Let's see....the food wasn't anything to rave about that's for sure. Everything had very little flavor, although the presentation was very nice! Kind of a bummer in my opinion. The shrimp was definitely of a rubbery texture inside the tacquitos. There was 4 of them so I ate one and gave the three that were left to seperate friends to see what they had thought. We had all agreed upon the same thing about the rubbery texture. The burrito's were filled with mostly rice and the Chorizo that I had ordered inside was resembling more of a shredded pork/beef than anything else. I almost had thought I got the wrong burrito at this point. I didn't get to snap a picture of these ones but it was just a normal burrito wrapped in foil. Lastly, the Quesadilla was just a large rectangular flapjack looking thing (see pictures). Kind of odd...it wasn't cut and didn't come with sour cream or any sort of salsa. Costumer service was bad, owner was here cashier didn't know how to explain the food. Two people in the front they ended up giving us the wrong order. I got the asada fries and I ask them before I order what it comes with they never said tomatoes, I hate tomatoes and my super fries have them. We talk English and Spanish and we try it talked to them in both idioms and they still didn't explain it. My boyfriend got birria burrito and they give us a carnitas burrito food it's was still okay but service was super bad. And they give us or food to go. Every time I call this place it gets more and more ridiculous. It just so happens to be the same guy who answers the phone every time. This time I said I'd like to order a burrito. As I'm telling him what I want and that he cuts me off to ask me what I want in it. How about listen to what I'm already saying? If I tell him I want half the normal out of rice and beans, steak and eggs. This is when I get cut off again being told I have it all wrong. I'm told they have a breakfast burrito and a lunch burrito. The lunch burrito house rice and beans. The breakfast burrito has eggs. Hands down my favorite taco truck/taqueria in chico. Get the pollo asado on anything, you won't be dissapointed. I have been coming here for almost a decade now and the consistency is insane. It tastes exactly the same as it always has, and the prices are very fair. Highly recommend gordo! Oh, Gordo. Where do I start? This is pretty much a "hole in the wall"- but gas station version. It is linked up next to the Valero next door and a relatively convenient stop since it is just off the freeway. They make one of my top two favorite burritos in all of Chico. They might even be my top favorite currently. Their burritos come with everything I would want on one... beans, rice (omg their rice is the BEST!), chicken fajitas (or whatever meat you choose), cheese, avocado, green salsa (I get mild), and sour cream (but I get it without). The chicken is always yummy, and they just nail it on the even distribution of all the goodies in every bite. I hear they have some delicious nachos as well, but I have not tried them yet. I can never stray away from the burritos! They have a salsa bar (the green is my favorite!) and even pickled veggies, LEGIT slices of lime, and other goodies. Everything is made quickly, tastes fresh, and even during their lunch rushes they get you out the door as quickly as possible (in a good way haha). read more
