Since my son just started school at Chico, we are exploring all the different restaurants! He and his friends discovered Aca Taco so his roommate's parents and I went to have lunch there. We walked in and it looks like a small place, but when you go to the right, there is a whole seating area with a bar. We ordered at the self-order kiosk. I was super bummed because they didn't have carnitas or quesabirria tacos. I ended up ordering 3 carne asada tacos with guacamole. Everything was delicious! The carne asada was some of the most tender steak I have ever had! YUM!! Everyone enjoyed their meal. We are planning to explore other places in Chico, but we are happy to recommend Aca Taco to our friends! read more

I would not recommend this place if it was the last place to eat in this town. I ordered an enchilada plate in green salsa. And I received tortillas in water!!! I'm Mexican and I know what salsa looks like. I tried to call and explain the issue and ask for a refund and they didn't listen to me. They said that the manger wasn't there and offered me to make another plate. Of what??? Water and tortillas Angel told me to save the plate for the next day and resolve it with the manager. For 24 years I've eaten burritos from here. They're elite level. I don't personally like the carne asada from here. But that's more about how the chicken and Al pastor just rise above their peers. I asked for jalapeños and "more beans than rice" in my order, and there was no jalapeños and pretty much no beans (see photo). There's very few beans at the bottom. It's also a smaller burrito than it has been, which means I have to tear off extra tortilla or that's what I get a mouthful of. This has happened numerous times, with different items/orders, or I would have not made a review. 2 stars because I do love the food, but I'm constantly worried I'm not going to get what I asked for- for example another time they forgot to give us the amount of tacos we asked for and then they told us they couldn't refund us but we'd have to drive down to pick up a taco. The tacos are expensive ($3-$4), but not worth wasting time and gas driving down. The quality assurance just isn't there considering the price. read more

So... I find myself shoveling chicken flautas in my mouth from Aca Taco. It seems I just can't get enough Mexican food and will travel far and wide to try different restaurants. As I'm cramming a hugely packed crunchy chicken flauta in my face I'm wondering, how did I get here? What am I doing? Is this the Twilight Zone? Then I realize I'm on a food high because the dish I ordered was SO DAMN YUMMY. The shredded chicken flauta dinner comes with beans and Spanish rice, a HUGE glop of sour cream, what seemed like a 1/2 head of shredded lettuce, diced onions and tomatoes, shredded cheese and 3 ginormous (like, super duper -open wide- LARGE) flautas. Trust me when I say, if this is your dinner you will not need to eat until lunch the next day! Not kidding and not complaining either ;) I'm a fan of Aca Taco, the price was fair, the food portion was more than I expected and the parking was easy. Should I roll through this town again, I'll definitely dip in for some mexi-grub. read more

Drove 45mins to have some of the food, we came in the afternoon around 12, I was excited and told the individual who was taking our order it was my first time here and there was no proper greeting at all, just "what would you like". Recently revisited this location. First of all they didn't change out mop water it just smelled foul. During my order there was a roach crawling in the wall near the "Best of Chico" sign. The lady killed it with her food glove. I straight up left Very disappointed with quality tonight. Beans were very salty and rice didn't have any salt? Also, they didn't even fill up the containers ??! I bought a total of 2 sides of each and as I watched her out a measly two scoops into the containers I worried it wouldn't be enough after buying four sides total. When I got home my suspicions were confirmed. I was able to dump one rice container into the other and surprise! It was full. Basically bought two of each for one actual serving size. I'm not a usual helper but after my first experience I had to get my word out on this place. I ordered an asada burrito with everything plus cheese and sour cream, chips, and salsa. I paid $17.32 and was trying to leave a tip but the machine was not letting me input $2 and eventually skipped past that part to when I scan my card. After, I looked at my receipt and it shows I left a 16cent tip which was not intentional and I felt bad but there was nothing I could do at that point. When airing for my order I was treated with distain, no thank you when I picked it up, shitty attitudes by the workers, and my biggest fear of it all was that my food was atrocious. Barely any meat at all in the burrito.... Had a very off taste to it, salsa was watery and old. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this place is a disgrace. I am so sad to say this but feel the need. A few nights ago I ordered three simple tacos for take out (beef, chicken and pork). If you are in to ultra dry straw-like cremated meat (probably from much earlier in the day) this place is for you. In addition if you don't mind cutting through their "soft flour tacos" with a steak knife for some exercise this is a good location. My boyfriend and I enjoy here! We love getting the green salsa enchiladas with chicken as well as the burritos. The regular nachos however are not the best option to go because they come in a bag with cheese (only one- which is not enough for the amount of chips) on the side. I also love to order the side plates of beans and rice for the days I'm too lazy to cook and they are very well portioned and priced. We also enjoy the tacos and how well portioned they are. My whole family enjoys having tacos from here. And this is a cash only unless you order online. The store also provides QR codes in store to scan and order online and an ATM machine. This was the last time all aca tacos have my business. I loved getting their carne asada burrito and have continuously watched the price go up and up for the last couple years. I just paid 13$ for a regular size burrito and almost walked out instead. They are never loaded with meat or large in size what so ever and certainly no better then a 7/10 overall. You can get a cheap burrito here if you order a chico size for $4.75, but if you want to add all the great stuff that makes a burrito yummy like sour cream, cheese, and guacamole, then you'll have to pay extra. A grande size burrito is $5.75. I had an Al Pastor chico size burrito with all of the extras (cheese, guacamole, sour cream) and I thought it was pretty delicious. The Al Pastor meat had great flavor and was cut in nice small pieces. The extras heightened the flavor. My boyfriend ordered the same kind of burrito but with no extras and wasn't that impressed. He thought the rice wasn't cooked enough and besides the Al pastor, there wasn't that much flavor. His burrito also wasn't wrapped that tightly so the whole thing fell apart easily. The reasons why I don't give it a full 5 stars are because they charge for the extras, which is stupid in my opinion, and the cashier lady messed up my order. I wanted no rice in my burrito, yet there was rice in it when I received it. I read in the magazine about the best of Chico and it said that this place was number one for burritos. So I ordered a couple burritos and some nachos which came to $35 which is about six or seven dollars more than what it showed online on the menu they showed. And definitely not worth the money in my appearance one of the worst burritos I've had in town and I had the El Pastore Super burrito my son had the chicken. Used to go here all the time in college! When back in chico I wanted to go again. We ordered a pastor burrito and chicken enchiladas. Burrito was all rice, could hardly see meat $15 burrito that ended up in trash :( Rice was also old, probably day before idk but hard dry and no flavor, same with black beans.
