We had the chicken tamale (recommended!), chili relleno, a relleno burrito, crispy tacos with shrimp and a special sauce (can't find this on the online menu in order to provide the exact name). All the food was flavorful and good. We have firmly decided to order a dozen tamales in the near future. (Needs a day or two notice. Great deal!) Sound system could be upgraded. The atmosphere at lunch was busy and animated. The patio has a couple of palm trees and some bushes to visually separate it from parking lot and was pretty full even at hot noon day. I had coffee ice cream after and it was very reasonably priced and good, although soft. (Fine with me but we have friend who must have hard frozen!) I noticed an emphasis on drinks, with fresh juices being popular with patrons. No soda fountain but a variety of bottles and cans available in refrigerator. (We had water.) read more

Purchased a burrito and some tacos to split with my husband and everything was just incredibly flavorless and underwhelming. We'd never been here before, only driven by it, so we decided to stop in for lunch and give it a try. We ordered the mojarra frita, cóctel de camarón, taco de lengua, and a tostada de ceviche, along with an agua de limón con pepino, jamaica, and a michelada. We enjoyed everything--great flavors and good portions for the price. The place is a bit small, but the staff was friendly and they were super busy, which is always a good sign. I am never disappointed when I order their delicious Menudo. I know that they have a number of top shelf quality menu items, but I always just order Menudo. Other prominent restaurants chopped up the ponza smaller and I quit going there. The staff there is very friendly and helpful at Las Tapatias. read more

This place was recommended for us to try because it was dubbed the "best Mexican restaurant in town" and actually- it's pretty good! Definitely worth it! You order your food first and if you decide to dine in, you also get chips and salsa. They have a huge menu! Breakfast, soups, combination plates, etc. so many different options.! You can also grab your own hot salsas that are prepped for you on the side.. and on the tables, they have different options for you too. Just to add (because this made a huge impression on our friends; their chili oil) their home made chili oil; it's really good! The service was great! It has a family owned feel to it and everyone was very open to help. if you have questions about the menu or the food options, they were more than willing to help, in-addition to giving you their opinion on what would taste better. The portions are big! We also tried their cucumber water drink (our first time trying it) was delicious. It's given to you in a huge mug! All-in-all, definitely worth it. Best chilaquiles!! Get the green sauce with over-easy eggs. You'll thank me later! I was honestly so surprised how good they were the first time I had them. Their salsa bar is a little on the small side, but it does have some solid choices nonetheless. The staff has always been nice and helpful. And the restaurant and bathroom is kept reasonably clean and in good shape. I've only come here during brunch/lunch hours during the weekday and it's never been busy. I also like how they have booths as well as tables. I have tried their horchata as well, but it was just average. Again, stick with the green chilaquiles and you'll be good. read more

It seems like this place has really gone downhill. We ordered through DoorDash, and I went inside to pick up the food, but they couldn't find the order. It was under my girlfriend's name, but they kept mishearing it, even after I spelled it out for them. They just looked at me, confused, and eventually claimed someone else had already picked up the order--as if that resolved anything. Frustrated, I had to send in my girlfriend to sort it out. Once she explained it was her money on the line, they suddenly got it together and handed us the food. The employee we dealt with was incredibly indifferent throughout the whole process, like they didn't care whether we got our order or lost our money. When we finally got the food, it was thrown together sloppily, loaded with onions, and didn't feel worth the hassle. Also, the guy who came out of the kitchen called me a "torta" which I don't really mind because I am a big guy. Still kinda adds on to the indifferent feeling. I was in town to go visit a customer along with my Manager. We found this restaurant on Yelp and with the many 5 Star ratings, decided to try the food for lunch. Nice and clean restaurant and we really enjoyed the Mexican music being played. There was a condiment station with lots of different sauce flavors. There was even jalapeños and onions. After stepping on a crack pipe in the parking lot, I should have taken it as a sign of the experience to come. In all fairness, I do live near the southern border and in a place known for great Mexican food, BUT.... this was SO bad! Where did all the positive reviews come from? Bland, flavorless, way under-seasoned everything; chips, salsa, nachos, watered-down beans, and a chimichanga. The beans were luke-warm soup with cold cheese on top. The rice was flavorless, but cooked correctly. I also have a feeling the health department would be none too pleased if they popped in for a surprise visit. Open jars on the tables sported crusty, old product and spoons were petrified to their contents. Half- eaten cake in their sales fridge, uncovered and open to curious little fingers looking for a swipe of frosting. We took a few bites of our food and left. The Carne Asada (recommended by the person behind the counter) resembled Alpo and was overpowered by a lime-based marinade. Not the right texture or flavor at all, unless you hate beef. Positives? The plate looked pretty when it was presented; it at least looked appetizing. A ruse. I just can't believe this is one of the highest-rated Mexican restaurants in the area. My girlfriend kindly offered to pick up some thing for me when I didn't feel like cooking myself. I wanted to try some pesole (pezole) and was pleasantly surprised with her find. I like more broth and radish as a garnish but otherwise happily enjoyed eating the entire serving over a couple helpings and a few hours. The garnish included, consisted of onions, cilantro, cabbage and lime. It was hot, tasty, good portions of pork and hominy. Sadly, the chips and tostada were overcooked, hard and not enjoyable. 4.5 stars but rounding up for one of the best supreme burritos I've had in a while!! Las Tapatias is located on the side of a plaza, tucked away in the corner. Make sure to follow your GPS directions. They weren't busy when I stopped by at 3:30pm on a Sunday, and it took less than 10 minutes for my order to be prepared. They have a salsa bar with 5 different options (the orange was my favorite, then the chunkier red salsa, then the green), as well as pickled jalapenos, radish slices, and lime pieces. Every time I've come they have a smile on their face and patience for me as I attempt to decide on one item off their menu, but ulitmately getting a few different things because everything looks so good! My favorite items: Flautas - nice and crispy, but a little flavorless without the sauces/toppings. California fries - I love all the toppings and add-ons to it, but I wish they would make the fries a little crispier. Tacos - One of my favorite things here. Can't go wrong with it! I was looking for a late lunch and a friend recommended this place. I am SO glad I listened to her and gave it a try. The location has is tucked back in the little shopping center but I was told it was right next to Boot Barn and that was a perfect landmark to find this establishment. I ordered Chicken Nachos as an appetizer and a Chorizo Chimichanga. My friend had a little indecisiveness and asked the woman at the register what she would get if she were to order. She recommended a plate and we sat down. Horchata was delicious but I'm biased because that's my favorite drink no matter what. The food was hot and ready in no time. This place is all right, kind of hit and miss. The burrito is pretty good, but the chimichanga is like some kind of mutant taco salad hybrid and it's small. Horchata is dope here. Probably will never eat the fish burrito because farmed tilapia is one of the dirtiest of all fishes.
