a plate of mexican food

This place is just plain crazy good. I've been coming here for 25 years and it's absolutely perfect. Just dropped by after an 8 year hiatus and Crazy Taco is exactly the same as my last visit. Maybe better. I had 3 carnitas tacos for $3.75 and they were crispy, delicious, overfilled and served with radishes, jalapeño and lemon. I'm seriously going back for breakfast!

$5 Quesadilla.

The why as to the lavishing praises I will never know. Did I miss something that makes all the difference between an average taco and a great one? I never been one to dislike positive reviews, but this Crazy Taco being a great quality food for a bargain price I disagree entirely. Edible? Certainly! Above average, best carnitas or carne asada, that is a long way from being so. $1.50 per mini taco is a fair offer, but the meats were diced so small, covered with average salsa, what exactly makes them great? Bought 8 tacos for $12. Carne Asada, Pastor, Chicken, Carnitas. Funny enough, my female companion who is always complaining, liked them very much. I had better of each meat, but must congratulate their set up, and completely sure the flow of clientele will not suffer not even a hiccup, for these little tacos. 3 Stars. $5 Quesadilla with Carnitas and Chicken. Yes, they were nice to accommodate both. Basically a medium size flour tortilla folded in half, as for the quesadilla part, the cheese flew back to Holland for the weekend, because this one had almost zero. I don't think it left a long lasting impression, and $5 is such an accessible bill. I seen that approach, where they skip the most important part of an item named after cheese, but it happens in even so called reputable franchises, that suck even worst. 3 Stars. Yet reviewers in Chico embrace this hole in the wall as a rare temple of excellence. Did I miss something? Probably the whole show is what I'm thinking . Hard working people, wish them the best, but the best to be had? Or the cheapest for that matter? $17 duckies beg to differ! 3 Stars.

Don't underestimate it because it's in a liquor store this place has some pretty bomb ass tacos for $1.25 which is awesome and these taste hella good definitely recommend it!! UPDATE 1/6/20 : they still got bomb tacos and the prices haven't changed :) limes were a little dry but the meat and the sauce make up for it !

For a quick and easy and cheap meal, this is a place to go. This is located in a liquor store but they have a window facing the parking lot. So you can put in your order and get your food quickly. And if you want a drink, just go inside the liquor store. I got three tacos - chicken, beef and pork. They are topped with cilantro and onions and salsa. My favorite was the pork. Super tasty meat and I was satisfied for the time being. And all of that for less than $5. There's no seating at this location though. So I had to devour it in my car.

I love this taco stand. I prefer the tacos over burritos here. They are the little silver dollar kind that you can eat a lot of and are cheap. They were selling some other stuff out of the window for a while too: http://www.newsreview.com/chico/Content?oid=33788

This place is a joke in the wall of a liquor store. I usually am the kind of person to turn my nose at that but my girlfriend isn't. After having had this place like 10 times i can say confidently they are good. HEADS UP: THEY ARE CASH ONLY

Really good carne asada for a literal hole in the wall. Very nice people. I don't do the rice here as it is always soupy.

The burritos are hit and miss. But the carnitas tacos are the best in town! They are only 1.25 and are loaded with meat!

Some of the best carnitas tacos I've ever had. No atmosphere or seating. Strictly a to-go taco window place.

It was a sendoff worthy of mariachi music and a frozen margarita toast. Let's start with the food: fire-grilled shrimp sizzling over peppers and onions, the kind of skillet that turns heads when it hits the table. The birria tacos were rich, cheesy, and golden-seared to perfection, with a deeply savory consommé for dipping every bite a messy, magnificent win. The combo plates brought it all together: classic rice and beans, fresh pico, guac, sour cream, and cheese so generous it should've paid rent. The place is full of charm, too. Walking through the doors is like stepping into a vibrant fiesta bright papel picado overhead, carved wooden benches, tiled floors that feel like abuela's house, and cheerful service that made us feel like family. I especially loved the colorful little photo-op corner by the entrance perfect for capturing the last California memory before heading east. It's not fancy. It's real. The kind of restaurant where flavors speak louder than trends, and you leave with a full belly and a bigger smile. Whether you're rolling through Chico or you're lucky enough to call it home, La Fiesta deserves a spot on your regular rotation. And if you're heading out of town like I was, this is the kind of farewell feast that sticks with you right next to the taste of lime and roasted onion. #LaFiestaChico #BirriaTacos #SizzlingShrimp #ChicoEats #ItsTheLittleThings #ThePuddingCreekTrestle #FoodieFuel #GuacAndRoll #TacoJoy #FlavorTrip

Well Mas Amor was amazing - meat is tender and flavorful and the consume is tasty and has some good flavor! Order the BIRRIA!! I should have asked for extra cilantro and onion but we had a wonderful lunch! The decor is so cute and the lighting is calming and nice. Love the artwork super creative and beautiful pieces! The marigold garland on the ceiling is a nice touch and the music videos were on point. It felt like we had gone on a journey and left Chico! I had the Birria Quesadilla with consume and mom had Birria nachos! Neither disappointed for sure. The meat is so tender and flavorful and added a nice touch to the nachos! I was surprised my mom even ordered Birria but she was happy she did. We didn't order chips and was happy we didn't because between the nachos and Birria quesadilla it was the perfect amount of food. Washed it down with a Modelo and couldn't have been happier! Makes me want to go back for the Birria Ramen!! The salsa was served in the cutest little clay containers on a beautiful clay heart plate. The dishes were great and so was the food - I highly recommend trying them out I'm sure the rest of the food is good too! Can't wait to try more from the menu. what a pleasant, informal, "sit down" Mexican joint! family owned and operated, very homey dining…read morearea with lots of wood and art work on the walls... the tortilla chips were hard and warm and the salsa was chunky yet rojo saucy. for my maiden voyage I did my standard "go to" order -- al pastor taco plate. the pastor was well seasoned and definitely restaurant style; not greasy like from a taco truck. the refried beans were creamy and the rice was on point. a normal plate comes with three tacos and rice and beans (whole or refried), so I smashed a full basket of chips, two tacos and a few bites of rice and beans and took the rest home... and then ate that an hour later, no microwave necessary! very liberal on the portions. the ladies that waited on me (could've been sisters, cousins, mother and daughter, who knows and who cares) were very pleasant and said I made a good choice picking the pastor for my first dish, and then convinced me to come back later for their molcajete, which I hear they are known for. and for those of you who like beer? they have Modelo and Pacifico on tap as well as good ol' Sierra Nevada Hazy (and they have a full bar, too -- margarita anyone?). can't wait to try a chimichanga, camerones à la diabla and that molcajete when I make return visits down the road... We found it by accident and were impressed by the menu, but the food was just not good. We ordered the shrimp ceviche plate ($19.99), chile relleno/chicken enchilada plate ($18.50), and fish ceviche tostada ($7.50). The ceviche was basically a pico de gallo, lacked flavor and salt/spice, and the shrimp appeared and tasted to have been canned- tiny and scarce- really couldn't tell there were any shrimp at all. Didn't realize it would be so watery, so if you choose to try the ceviche tostada, you might wanna get to the tostada shell before it gets soggy. The enchilada sauce lacked flavor and the cheese was grainy and mushy; the chile relleno- the chile was soggy, flavorless, and not at all firm, and the cheese quickly seized up like a thick glue and was also flavorless. They have a chips and salsa bar where you serve yourself. Unfortunately, the chips had no salt; the salsa options were decently flavored. The jalapenos had flavor. Customers pay when they order at the counter and I was charged a $.75 "No Cash Fee" for using my credit card (probably standard, yeah?). Like most places these days, the lowest tip option is 15%, which I selected to give the benefit of doubt. Lastly, I had to wipe the bench before sitting, and the chair back was sticky when I pulled it out to sit down. This was probably the worst almost-$60 I've ever spent on food that looked so promising. And as I said, I really don't enjoy giving poor reviews, but maybe this will help someone make a decision.
