There aren't a lot of places to choose to eat from in Orland. I have to say that Hive is the top two places in orland. Their service is always on top and their food is amazing! So I used to work probably like five minutes away from here. And we would always get delivery from the hive. There were times I've gotten breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the same day! Food: Breakfast burritos - I'm not actually sure if they still do breakfast anymore. But when they did, I absolutely loved their chorizo breakfast burrito. They had the right amount of potatoes, meat, eggs, spinach, and cheese. Lunch - My favorite dish is their french dip! You cannot go wrong with a cheesy meaty sandwich dipped in au jus. Ah! I honestly could just drink their au jus as it because it's that delicious! Otherwise, I mostly like their build my own sandwich option. They have a ton of options to choose from. Drinks - Their smoothies are amazing! The mango smoothie is my favorite! I don't particular love their coffees since I don't feel like it's strong enough for me. But add in a couple extra shots and I'm feeling goooooood. Dinner - I've only gotten dinner from here a few times and honestly their dinner selection is a little sparse. They have some burgers and a few entrees to choice from. Their gnocchi is pretty good. But their salmon and NY steak was meh. Alcoholic Drinks: This is probably why you want to be here. I've had a pretty good sample of a lot of their cocktails and there isn't one that was amazing. Overall: I would definitely recommend this place! We placed an order to go. They would not sell happy hour items, to go. Why??? We ordered calamary and sweet potato fries. Once home we realized we only received 1/3 of our order. Calamary had a lot of spicy fried peppers, fried lemons slices and fried green beans. Why?? It was a total rip off. Will not be going back!!!! read more

I'm really honest when writing my reviews, you might say I keep complementing the service if you read my reviews from the places we visited at Chico, but my husband and I we were gladly surprised how people were really nice and friendly at the places we visited during our trip. This place was not the exception, our server (wish I have her name) was really nice, attentive and friendly, we stopped by for a quick bite on a Saturday around noon. We felt we were having brunch at one of the restaurant in LA for how nice and elegant this little gem was. We came in on Thursday evening on Tacos & Tequila night & my eyes lit up when Lisa our waitress said that (I hope that was her name!) There was a live band playing when getting sat at our table. Ordered the shrimp tacos and tequila flights. Tacos were served on a fresh corn soft tortilla with raw shrimp that I believed were cooked with lemon and lime juice as the shrimp had a more white look with a hint of orange. Topped with a Cabbage mixed veggies and avocado. My bf ordered the Kona burger with grilled onions with onion rings. Loved the grilled pineapple. Complimentary chips and salsa were included. Salsa was more of a chipotle flavor versus a pico de gallo style. Portions were favorable as we both took home left overs. Lisa was great, very energetic and check on us often. I loved the look of the restaurant! Very rustic, modern farm vibes. The one thing I didn't like was how close our table was to the bar - there were just butts in our face. not a big deal, but could do without. The Hive has live bees on site to produce some of the most delicious honey I've ever tasted. I left with a jar of their California line. Came here the other day while passing through town and am glad I did! Seems to be a really interesting company. They have tons of hives all over the area producing great honey, have a baked goods shop, make their own ice cream, had a wicked cool live bee display, and the staff and food was great. Sat at the bar and the bartender made some great suggestions on drinks from their extensive cocktail list. He said he was pretty new and I think his name was Kiran (probably butchered the spelling on that one!). Dude does a great job and made me feel right at home. Ended up getting some fish tacos and I think it was 3 for $14. Definitely not a bad deal. Fish was fried well and I liked their slaw. Tortillas could use a little work, but all in all, would order again. Was full and didn't order desert, but kinda regret that decision. Guess they're doing a bunch of new construction, so will definitely be back to check that out. The Hove felt like is was having a foodie experience in Napa Valley rather than little ole Orland! I was meeting a lady friend for dinner and had my two well-behaved dogs who they welcomed in their dining patio. They even had a doggie water bowl and brought treats. We had a great lunch on a relatively quiet late Saturday morning here back in December. We aimed to go for brunch, but ended up arriving a bit later than we had planned so we hope to go back for brunch another time! For lunch in our group we tried the half pound angus burger, the Hive salad, and the French dip. I really enjoyed all the different goodies in the salad (I love me some apples, candied walnuts, and feta!), as well as the honey balsamic that the waitress recommended. My hubby loved his burger (and did NOT leave hungry!) and my mother in law said the French dip was delicious as well. A fancyish place a town north of willows where I'm staying. I was tied if burgers. The portobello on rice was nice. I was technically out doors but it was completely covered & rapped so not really. I sat in a distance corner. As the name indicates, this place has honey. I was given California honey for my tea & given samples of Montana and Hawaiian honey which I'm taking home. First off we don't live in Orland but whenever we are here in our RV we go to the Hive l. We went on Sunday for the brunch & m wife loves their taco salad but it wasn't on the brunch menu I asked our waitress if she could get a taco salad sh said let me ask the chef & the chef said of course we can & my wife was so happy. The presentation and taste were DISNEYLAND Winnie the Poo Land Gourmet quality. The hive shaped marshmallowy goodness that was honey flavored and buttercreamy at the same time was to die for . I'm going to need a six pack of those in a carrier of some sort for a hostess gift . We had a s'mores brownie that was heavenly as well. What a gem! Our friends introduced us to this spot this weekend and we are so happy with our meals, service, and ambiance. Two of us ordered the salmon special for the night and let me tell you--boy was it delicious! The salmon was a generous portion, and it was simmered in some milky sauce (I want to say coconut milk) topped over a bed of rice. The other two in our party got the chicken--don't get me wrong, the chicken was grilled to perfection, but they were just not as tasty as the salmon. My girlfriends and I went up for a Sunday brunch this past weekend and everything was delicious! They recently opened with their full kitchen and you can see the chef's excitement on the new and improved menu! The cocktails were amazing, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The only hiccup was once we gave our cards to the waitress (for separate tabs we asked for in the beginning) we waited 40 minutes for them to be returned to us so we could sign and leave. We had to flag down another waitress to get her to find ours and finish service. There were other people on the patio and I'd say they were moderately busy, but when we looked around and realized that all other tables who were seated before and after us had left the area and we were still waiting for our check it was a bit ridiculous. We will absolutely be returning but if we get the same waitress or wait more than 10 minutes we will be flagging someone for help a lot sooner. read more

I stopped by here to get lunch. It was recommended by some dear friends believe it or not, I trust their judgment more so than Yelp- lol! I walked in and the said hit to Shawn, (or maybe it's Sean?) anyway he was AMAZING! He found out it was my first time there and he showed me around and introduced me to the working hive FULL of bees in an area just off the main entrance which also had jars od gorgeous honey! OK, I'm a designer and I love good simple design. Their packaging was beautiful and let the honey shine. You could see the different kinds from California, Montana and from Hawaii! I was impressed with the variety and amount of info he gave me in a few short minutes. That's just like an appetizer for the place... The menu is vast and I just couldn't decide fortunately Hannah, who was my food guide helped me pick some things that she thought were good. I got the HONEY BEE TURKEY MELT with their classic potato salad. The sandwich was heaven! PERFECT for a meal but not heavy. It had pest and provalone with some honey mustard which was unexpected but the bit of sweetness with the savory sandwich was REALLY a nice touch. Not what I expected but it worked well. The potato salad, I was told was a family recipe, It was good, the potatoes were firm and not mushy, a bit of onion and celery with mayo. It was a good solid potato salad, I personally would have liked a tiny bit of lemon or something tart to offset it a bit but it went really well with the HONEY BEE TURKEY MELT. The Raspberry Iced tea was SO good and I think sweetened just a tiny bit to cut the bitterness, I'm betting they added some honey maybe ;-) Overall, I highly recommend The Hive, their meu has something for everyone. I intentionally stayed away from things that you could get anywhere else and tried to stick to things unique to them, but if that wasn't on the table, one of their burgers and some of their fries would have been. Great selection of salads too! Also a shoutout to both Shawn and Hannah for making my lunch so enjoyable. I was thoroughly pleased with my meal and the quick tour! Thanks! If your driving up N. highway 5 and looking great food stop in Orland at a cute lil spot called The Hive. They have seating if you want to hang out for awhile. But if your just passing through they have a to-go counter. Great food but what we absolutely loved is the amazing family that owns it. Crazy friendly like they've known you forever. The #1 reason id come back is how pet friendly they are. They even have the cutest small dog park in the back. Everything was still kinda under construction but we didn't mind at all.
