Found Bevacco totally by accident while looking for dinner, thought the vibe looked cool, and I am so glad I walked in. One of those rare random finds that actually lives up to the hype. The food and drinks were so good. The gnocchi deserves its own shoutout. Hands down the best gnocchi I have had in NYC. Perfectly pillowy, rich, and comforting without being heavy. I would go back for that dish alone. We tried a few different cocktails and every single one hit. Well balanced, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Nothing felt phoned in. This place has a cute ambiance. I had an apple inspired beverage. It wasn't my fave but if you want the essence and warm flavors of an apple pie in a cocktail then you'd enjoy it. It was on the juicier side for me but I haven't been to this spot in years. They had a really cute U shaped bar that allows you to see the folks sitting at the bar in a cool way and the bartender was so sweet. I love that this connects to anime bar which has a completely different vibe. So you can pretty much indulge in 2 different ambiance feels without leaving the warmth of the establishment. You'd just need to go where the rest room is and go through a separate door! To cut to the chase, the food is disgusting, and the service is brutal. Another instance where society would be better off if yelp allowed zero stars. We sat down and the hostess immediately complained to us about how it was busy, and told us that this isn't a good thing because she's paid a flat rate. A great start. The waiter took our order and then read it back to us, getting nearly every order wrong so we had to correct him. The apps were good but expensive for what they were. The entrees were embarrassingly bad. The cheese on top of the lasagna had been poorly charred by a butane torch, and I know this because all I could taste was disgusting bitter burnt butane flavor. I've made this mistake before the only time I've ever used a butane torch, but I'm not a professional chef charging people for the food I cook. But it must've been this chef's first time cooking, because the same mistake was made on the eggplant parm. Eggplant parm was also cold by the time it hit the table. The rigatoni was inedible. So incredibly salty, and the flavors past the salt were horrible. I've never sent a meal back in my life, but this experience inspired new confidence for me to express my absolute disdain for our experience. The waiter argued with me, and said that the disgusting misuse of butane was the chef's style and repeatedly pushed back instead of apologizing. To top it off, the tequila soda we got had an added $2 charge for the soda. Truly a shockingly bad experience and I'm embarrassed that I suggested. read more

Two observations - too dark inside to enjoy your food when the sun goes down (visual counts too!) and the in-house-made Tiramisu was way too heavy buttery-creamy, not enough biscuits and coffee flavor. Rojillio was an amazing server, he was kind, fulfilled all our needs, and was an all around amazing server and a great person to talk to. The food was exemplary, the sauce on the steak was an excellent blend of taste. Unfortunately the branzino did not live up to expectations due to an over oily taste. Such a warm & cozy spot for an intimate dinner. Exceptional & thoughtful service; our glasses were never empty and the low-light (& soft music) set the tone for a wonderful dinner and conversation. Where do I start??? Service is pretty attentive and good, so thats worth a star at least, and the decor might be worth another half, but the food gets no stars at all from me. The seared Brussels Sprouts were mushy and over cooked. They were obviously boiled until devoid of all flavor, and then seared to attempt to put some flavor back in, but that was a dismal failure. The Bolognese sauce was absent any soffrito. It should be velvety smooth and creamy almost, with a touch of tomato. No way that any Italian chef worth his name would call this a ragu. And the risotto was probably the worst I've eaten. A proper al dente risotto should be creamy and unctuous. Al dente with a slightly chalky core to each grain of rice. This abject failure was composed of tasteless grains of chalk. Having left most of the meal untouched, the server came with a dessert menu. Considering the extremely high rents in this area, we wondered if they survived on the excellence of their desserts. So we ordered a tiramisu and their cheesecake. Big mistake! The tiramisu was a disaster. I could not eat more than a couple of bites of the floury, tasteless cake. The cheesecake was even worse. Tasteless with a strange aftertaste. Hands down my favorite restaurant in Brooklyn Heights! I stumbled upon this gem through an incredibly simple search of "Italian food in Brooklyn heights" and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere is very cozy and the workers are all incredibly personable. If you find yourself in this area of Brooklyn, definitely plan to visit. I personally would recommend getting the Gnocchi- it has the perfect about of spiciness and flavor. I remember when Bevacco first joined the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood and from the outside, I thought it was just a fancy diner... the retro touch totally threw me off. My visiting family decided to dine here as we had exhausted all of our other options in the area pretty much plus the menu look very appetizing. We had the prosciutto and fresh mozzarella to start- what's not to like about cheese and meat? I had the duck breast entree for my main- the sauce was a little too sweet but once I scraped a lot of it off it was fine. For the dessert most of us got the passion fruit sorbet which was delicious. I have eaten here twice and very much enjoyed it both times. The staff does a great job of making you feel welcome. Service can be a bit disconnected but they make up for it with a great attitude. Most recently was there on a Friday night and there was a good crowd. Had a signature cocktail that the bartender brought over. It was delicious. Food is solid. I am writing to share my recent experience at your restaurant on June 13, 2024, as I believe it is important for you to be aware of the service we received during our visit. My two friends and I were looking forward to enjoying a nice dinner together, having made a reservation in advance. However, upon our arrival, we encountered a series of issues that left us feeling quite disappointed. After arriving, my friend and I waited outside for our third party member to join us. Once we entered, we were met with an awkward silence as we stood by the entrance, waiting for someone to greet us. After a few moments, we were approached by our waitress, who asked if we were a party of three and if we had a reservation, but her tone felt somewhat aggressive. It was disheartening to observe that multiple other parties were seated and greeted with warmth and friendliness, while we seemed to be treated differently. Additionally, it was noticeable that we were the only African American guests in the restaurant that evening, which added to our discomfort. Once seated, we were given three menus but only two drink menus. Shortly thereafter, a different waiter took one of our drink menus to give to another table, leaving us with just one menu to share among three people. The waiter waked passed multiple table with drink menus to take ours.When the waitress returned to take our orders, I inquired about mocktails, as I hadn't had the chance to look at the menu yet. Instead of offering assistance, she curtly informed me that everything was in the menu. I began to look for the mocktails, but without the ingredients listed, I sought her recommendations. However, she abruptly stated she would come back and walked away before I could finish my question. Throughout our meal, we noticed that the waitress frequently checked on the guests seated next to us, offering them recommendations and asking if they needed more time. In contrast, she only checked in on our table in passing, never stopping to ask if everything was okay. We felt uncomfortable voicing our concerns, as we did not want to appear problematic. When the check arrived, we felt compelled to leave a small tip, as the service did not meet our expectations. However, shortly after we paid, the waitress approached us in a loud and aggressive manner, questioning why we did not leave at least a 15% tip on a $200 bill. She loudly asked was there a problem with my services. This confrontation drew the attention of other diners, and we felt embarrassed and uncomfortable. My colleague attempted to explain our experience, highlighting the waitress's tone and the disparity in service we received compared to other guests. While she offered a couple of apologies, they felt insincere and condescending. While we appreciated the quality of the food, the service we received overshadowed our dining experience. As a Black woman, I felt particularly unwelcome, and it was disheartening to see such a stark contrast in treatment based on race. I believe that feedback is essential for improvement, and I hope you take this message into consideration. New Date: June 27th, 2019- Well here we go again, back at our favorite place celebrating my best friends brand new chapter in life - 30 years old. When we decided to go back we said we would get the same dishes we ordered last time - Salmon and Clam linguini because they were absolutely delicious. Then I saw the Chicken Piccata and couldn't help myself, had to try something new ::insert mind blown GIF:: Little did I know the chicken picacata would turn into my new favorite dish here. The chicken was beautifully laid on a bed of greens, potatoes and a mouth watering lemon / caper sauce. That sauce was so good, not one drip of it was left behind. Only reason I didn't pick the plate up, put it to my face to lick the rest of the sauce is because I actually have some table manners. Lol The clam linguini was just as good this time as it was the last. This place never lets me down. The service is good and chill. Brooklyn Heights deserves good dining that's not on Atlantic Ave. Montague Street is a restaurant DMZ, nothing seems to work there. I've passed by Bevacco on Henry St. for years and finally tried it last evening. It's an inviting space with a classy exterior and roomy dining area offering the privacy otherwise lacking elsewhere. Traditionally appointed and perfectly lit with polychrome sconces. I really wanted to like this place. The baby kale caesar was weird. The roasted chickpeas seemed to shout gluten-free replacement for the usual croutons but tasted like stale popcorn. The dressing was acceptable but nowhere close to the caesar emulsion I expected. The pappardelle with wild boar ragu was disastrous. Homemade pasta great, but why ruin a sauce with delicata squash? Again, I get it; squash as a healthy, alternative thickening agent, but it totally destroyed any flavors from the meat. Tasted like dishwater. I noticed delicata squash as an ingredient in one of the pizza selections too. That's enough to send me right back to Monty Q's for a slice! Service was adequate although the waiters' blue jeans seemed inappropriate for the sophisticated ambiance. Sadly, Bevacco doesn't fill the void. During my most recent trip to NYC, I visited this restaurant thrice: twice alone and once as part of a party of three. Pizzas were excellent, just excellent, and we tried different ones (all vegetarian). I did not try pasta. I had grilled branzino which was a blah and I am taking one star off for it. The Radicchio & Frisée was out of this world. While sitting at the bar during my first visit I was privy to a very interesting convo which led me to appreciate the challenges and hardships of the bartender profession. Both gelato and panna cota were excellent. Next time I visit, I plan to be back to try the pastas. I suspect that since it is an Italian restaurant, they specialize in pizzas and pastas and that is why the branzino was so underwhelming. The service and ambience were up to snuff. While I don't think this was the best Italian food I've tried, the pasta is definitely better than on the West Coast. The food - very good. The service? Awful. Started with the parmesan creme brulee served with slices of pear and toasted sourdough. It is original and delicious. I had a margarhita pizza, which was good, and my daughter had chicken piccata, which was fine, and served with sliced small red potatoes and sauteed spinach. We were seated just below a sign which instructed diners not to stay more than 90 minutes. I would have been delighted if we could have been out of there in 90 minutes but it took closer to 2 1/2 hours because of the difficulty getting a waiter's attention. We had to ask 3 staff people for the dessert we wanted - the sheep's milk ricotta cheesecake, which was quite good and beautifully plated with fresh berries. But alongside it was something that looked like creme fraiche or whipped cream, but was in fact sour. Getting dessert took at least 30 minutes, in addition to having to ask 3 different servers. Then the check was brought with a higher price for the appetizer than what was listed on the menu. Just $1 more, but still, when I brought it to our waiter's attention he just shrugged it off as the dollar amount that was in their system. I asked him to reduce the check by $1 to rectify the error, which finally he did. But he made such a thing about it that it left another sour taste in my mouth. Bevacco, you have good food. Staff up and make sure the prices in your system match those on your menu! All in all, I won't be going back anytime soon. read more

Bevacco serves tasty Italian in Brooklyn Heights. Perfect for brunch with the parents, a dinner date after the park, or cocktails with your girlfriends, Bevacco has a versatile menu and space. The classy metal work, mosaic tile floors, marble tabletops, leather booths, and a U shaped bar with tall stools evoke a New York Gilded Age ambiance. At night there's candles and mood lighting, in the morning plenty of sunlight through the lovely windows. It can get a little loud here when the restaurant is at full capacity, otherwise its a lovely intimate space. Service is good here, not super friendly but definitely efficient and on top of things. Staff are excellent about managing table turn over and on a Sunday evening, it did not take long for them to refresh a table and have us seated. Our waiter took our order quickly and food comes promptly. I've been here for brunch and for dinner. I've ordered: Raddichio, orange, pistachio salad Kale, pine nut, ricotta salad Margarita pizza Prosciutto pizza Baked eggplant Lamb ravioli Truffle fries Pear almond tart I pretty much love everything on the menu. I'm especially thrilled here with the salads - and I hate salads so that says a LOT. The flavor pairings are very intentional to give you a mix of flavors and textures and every single ingredient is fresh and well dressed. The pizza is good (but its Brooklyn, so its on par with the other fine pizza establishments in the area and the caliber you'd hope for), the pasta portions are just right and definitely quality over quantity. The pear almond tart is excellent and the fries perfect for snacking. I absolutely love how many vegetables are available on the menu and the star treatment Bevacco gives them. The cocktail and wine menu appear extensive. I would definitely see Bevacco being a hit with the after work gossip girls. Prices are on the higher end for an average Saturday night dinner, but considering the area and the ambiance I would argue they're fair. With a more sustainable menu and the classier ambiance, you're going to pay more here than at Noodle Pudding, and rightly so. read more

How does an Italian restaurant make bland pizza? I came here on a Sunday night with a huge party and Bevacco did a horrible job of accommodating us. Management was also very unsatisfactory, the food was so bland and the waiter not even 2 star service. After a beautiful night of family and friends gathering near the Brooklyn bridge for my surprise proposal (still in shock) we had dinner reservations here. We entered the very dark, unwelcoming and empty restaurant at around 6:30pm and were immediately greeted by a less than friendly staff. I really would not recommend this place for a big party or the food (just don't come here). For one, what is a restaurant without tartar sauce? BEVACCO What is a restaurant with pizza that has very bland taste? BEVACCO What is a restaurant that has unfriendly service? BEVACCO What is a restaurant that has unfriendly management? BEVACCO? No one likes to dine with large parties and I understand that. Before ordering, we asked the waitress if we would be able to break the bill up into 2. One for the soon to be bride's family(ME) and one for the soon to be groom's family(my now fiancé) we were told that this would be possible until after eating when the bill came and the manger acted as if it were a problem. Although I had the most perfect proposal surrounded by family and friends, I really did not enjoy this place at all. Nonetheless, I was still grateful that everyone came out and surprised me the way they did. But this place has a lot of things to work on. FYI i've had better tasting pizza for $1 compared to the horrible $19 pizza and disgusting fried calamari here. My word for anyone looking to come to this place would be to skip it. read more

The restaurant was festively decorated and had a relaxed, casual, yet romantic atmosphere. Seating was very comfortable as we had a nice corner table that didn't make us feel stacked upon others. My partner and I had drinks and shared the homemade pork sausage and mushroom pizza. The pizza was pretty good, a bit wet but overall tasty. Staff was also very friendly and attentive. This place was a bit of a disappointment. It's very fancy and upscale-looking but the meal left something to be desired for sure. The raspberry spark drink was not "topped with Prosecco", as the waiter suggested, but rather dunked in Prosecco - I like bubbly a lot but this was bordering on excess. The Bevacco breakfast I ordered came out a little cold (especially the potatoes), the bacon was nearly unchewable, and the salad was BUTT NAKED aka no dressing at all. I was pretty disappointed.
