We never received a picture nor were shown the cake prior to opening it at his birthday party, since it was fully wrapped in plastic upon pick up. After we pointed out this error, rather than correct it in any way (not even a small token of an apology, a cupcake for our kid, ANYTHING!) you again blamed us, pointing out that we signed a contract that we would accept the cake as is. The cupcakes here are DIVINE! We managed to pop in before they closed the other day and grabbed a couple of cupcakes, and the curry vegetable savory pie. All three items were delicious! But the red velvet cupcake and the vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting were off the charts! The cake taste and texture was on point, and the frosting was light and yummy, but not too sweet. All I gotta say is that the RING DINGS are everything and more!!! I always get a Ring Ding with every order because they're so good: soft and moist chocolate cake, perfect not overly sweet buttercream filling covered in the best chocolate shell ever, I never want to stop eating them!! The cupcakes are always very good also, my favorites are the chocolate-chocolate and the red velvet. My 6yr old enjoys the beautiful unicorn cupcakes which have a sprinkle surprise in the middle! Their sliced packaged pound cakes are excellent especially the Pumpkin Bread omg! Super velvety and flavorful. I've also had the Banana bread and Blueberry bread which are also great. The texture and look of the different sprinkles on top and IN THE CENTER made this unicorn cupcake surprising and magical. The cake, itself, is moist and has some "unicorn" colors throughout it. The frosting has the perfect amount of sweetness. Very well balanced. $4.95 is definitely up there in price, but I think it's worth it. It's like a little edible piece of art. We were hosting an office work anniversary for several people and wanted a 12" inch cake that not only looked good but tasted good - and we were a little worried about delivery time into Manhattan - so their suggestion to have it delivered the day before was genius. Betty Bakery makes incredible pies and cakes. But above all, the chef is fearless. I searched for weeks for a baker to make a cake that had not been served in 20 years. Many of the other great chefs in NYC declined the task since they thought the Hazelnut Dacquoise (the signature dessert of Windows on the World) was too complicated and too hard to make. Betty Bakery took the challenge and nailed it. A room full of foodies who loved the Hazelnut Dacquoise from Windows were almost in tears when the masterpiece was brought out at the end of a magical night. You will not be disappointed but it is definitely a cheat day treat. Next up was their savory pies which are just as good and feel slightly less sinful at their 4 inch diameter size. This may become an expensive quarantine habit but it's totally worth it, and can cover breakfast, lunch and dinner. One day I was walking down Atlantic Avenue and I was stopped in my tracks by a beautiful window display. I just had to stop and admire the rare beauty of this little shop. As I entered the bakery, I was greeted warmly by the young lady at the cash register. Every pastry behind the counter looked absolutely delicious, and I was dealing with the horrible predicament of choosing one pastry. The young lady at the cash register was very patient with me until I made my choice. After a few minutes of contemplating, I choose a Lemon Tart with strawberries on top. I took my desert home with me so that I could enjoy it in the comfort of my own home. The pastry was amazing from start to finish, all the flavors blended perfectly together. I needed a birthday/gender reveal cake for my husband and Betty Bakery exceeded our expectations! I sent them pictures of what I was looking for and a representative emailed me the next day. I spoke to the manager on the phone, excellent customer service, we went over the details of the cake and then my friend spoke to him and told him the gender of the baby in order to pick the color of the sprinkles inside the cake. The cake was beautifully decorated, tasted amazing, and the inside not only had sprinkles which was all I asked for, but they included other types of candy to make it so perfect! Betty Bakery is one of my favorite bakeries at the moment. It is expensive, but that's all subjective. I am addicted to their coffee, hot or iced either goes. Most of the time I get a raspberry bar to go along with my cup of joe. Betty Bakery is a happy place for me. I enjoy sitting by the window, and people watch as I sip. I have not tried the cakes even though they look fantastic. They are $7.95 per slice, steep. That's not the reason why I won't eat a slice, though. My compulsiveness will get the best of me if I do... this I know for sure. So, I rather not even get into the cake game just yet. I will stick to the coconut cupcakes which I like a lot, and the coconut lemon bar too. The berry muffin is my all time favorite. I was a fan of their mummy Twinkies back in October. I started out having a nice interaction with this bakery, I was hosting a housewarming party and the one thing I wanted: unicorn cupcakes. The online ordering process and interaction via email was very easy and seamless. My only stipulation was I needed to pick these up around 10 AM Sunday. This was Sunday July 1st. When Sunday, the morning of my party rolled around - my husband and I went to Betty bakery to pick up our cupcakes. When we got inside, the gentleman Baker told us that there was a huge problem. Someone misread the order and instead of 25 unicorn cupcakes, there were 25 regular chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with plain frosting; with one unicorn cupcake. We were extremely disappointed but we were rushed with our party. The Baker unfortunately did not offer to reimburse us for the difference of plain cupcakes and unicorn, he said he could make the unicorn cupcakes... but by the time they would be done our party would be well in swing. He wasn't rude, but he certainly didn't offer an apology; and even after a phone call to the bakery the next day (no answer) we haven't heard back from them. Be wary when using this bakery, you might not get what you paid for and you certainly won't get reimbursed for the difference, it's unfortunate because it's a really cute setting, the cupcakes were good... It was my god-daughter's 8th birthday and we had a bunch of different things going on for her that wknd, but we wanted something small and cute for her and her sisters to enjoy at home. Thanks to Yelp I found this cute little bakery. I walked in and although they were quite busy, the lady behind the counter was nice enough to answer all my questions and helped me decide on the design and colors for the cupcakes. I wanted one large unicorn cupcake in the center and 7 regular sized ones surrounding it, all placed on a platter that had "happy birthday" written on it. To my surprise they were able to do it. Most of the bakeries I checked out only had their cupcakes sold in a box or plastic containers. I loved some of the previous cupcake designs posted on Betty's page, so I felt comfortable going there. The "large" cupcake was just a little bigger than the regular sized ones. I was expecting it to be a lot bigger, but hey. I got what I got. The kids loved it and thought the designs were adorable so that's all that mattered in the end. It's a very small storefront but they get a lot of traffic. They recreated some hostess favorites like the ding dong and the twinkie. I wanted to order something small and simple. I decided on the snowflake sugar cookie. It was $5.95!!! I repeat $5.95! Unbelieveable! The Levain cookies are only $4. That is absolutely bananas. Neeless to say, looks aren't everything. The cookie tasted like a basic sugar cookie and was priced way too high for what it was. I hate writing bad reviews and rarely do. But I just don't think a sugar cookie should cost the same as a chocolate caramel tart that is next to it or more than a brownie. read more
