It even has a slightly flaky exterior which I love too and I am obsessed with this flavor especially when I dip it in a yummy hot cup of coffee. I'm also obsessed with these tea cookies: Lucia: chocolate caramel shortbread layer bar Lana: chocolate sandwich cookie filled with raspberry jam Juliette: chocolate cinnamon ganache sandwiched between two hazelnut cookies chocolate chip cookie. The cake slices here are perfectly moist and fluffy. Service is 10/10. Staff is so lovely and I can tell they love the food there as much as I do. This spot is one of my favorite places in Brooklyn to catch up with friends, get an after workout class treat, work remotely, or just grab a bite in a cute and quaint setting.

Their cold brew has dark and rich notes of chocolate and almond, which couldn't be more fitting for a pastry and bake shop. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood, I try and make a point to grab a cup here. And while I've only been here a couple of times, the staff has been polite, and the coffee has been consistent - the latter being an issue for many shops. Baked doesn't try to be too cool or anything other than what it is. It's an unpretentious bake shop that offers a perfectly chilled cold brew that deserves to be savored with each sip and doesn't break the bank. It's worth making the trip even and I'll be doing so, even if I'm not exactly in the neighborhood.

The staff seems pretty familiar with a lot of the patrons that come in so I guess people are pretty loyal to the spot. I ordered a chai latte and assorted baked goods to go with it. My girlfriend has a matcha latte. Service was quick and friendly. I enjoyed all of the baked goods we had but my favorite was definitely the Turkey & Pesto Croissant. There was a generous helping of pesto inside and the herbaceous, garlicky, earthy flavor paired really well with the turkey. The croissant was nice and flaky too without being overly messy. The barista warmed it up to the perfect temperature too. If I were a local I'd probably be a regular too.

I like the jam, it's very soft and not like a crumbly shortbread cookie at all. My least favorite out of the 3.

She was not wrong! My son has an egg allergy, so we decided on a vegan chocolate cake with a dairy frosting. She made a beautiful chocolate cake with the beautiful flowers on top. The cake tasted like a regular cake, and you couldn't tell it was vegan. It was just incredible. Amy's chocolate chip cookies are my favorite, and I also really enjoy her rosewater scones. The day I picked up the cake for my son's birthday, I also got my mom a slice of vanilla coconut cake which I froze for her visit 2 weeks later. She loved her cake, also. There is literally nothing bad you can have her, and her new partnership with Gratitude Leaves is amazing. Gratitude Leaves also has beautiful flowers, so you can get your cake and flowers at the same time.

But first a little history: "Four & Twenty Blackbirds pie bakery was founded in Brooklyn in 2009 by sisters and pie makers Melissa Elsen and Emily Elsen. The sisters originally custom-baked pies in their Crown Heights, Brooklyn apartment before opening their first brick and morter retail location in Gowanus, Brooklyn in the Spring of 2010." I first patronized this wonderful pie shop @2011. How did I discover it? NY magazine featured an article on the shop and I just discovered Gowanus and voila..
