Super cute spot in a great location. Fresh, modern decor, nice lighting, and friendly service. I really wanted to like this place, but the coffee was bad. When I brought one back to the hotel for my husband, he guessed it was from the gas station. We ended up getting another coffee elsewhere. read more

I wanted an iced coffee but my mistake for not clarifying. And they still offered me to remake mine. I was fine with asking for some ice but i could see great professionalism there. Very high quality coffee. read more

Awesome single origin espresso. I went back for 2 more over a few hours as I wandered around town. As good a ristretto shot of espresso as I've ever had in SF, SLO, Santa Barbara on the proper equipment -La Marzocco. And Aspen the barista is super cool. But why is a coffee lounge playing loud (loud enough they misheard my very common name at the register) techno-like music? (I'm a semipro musician. I know sound levels. And Maybe not technically techno. But close enough.) And why are they expecting me to know to walk around to the right to pick up my drink? I've never been there before. And since they took my name when I ordered my first drink, why are they yelling "double espresso" and expecting me to understand thats my drink? Then it sat for a few minutes till they realized I never picked it up. When I ordered, it was a "single origin espresso." I was expecting to hear that or my name. Not " double espresso." No big deal but mighty easy to avoid that hiccup. Recommended regardless of these minor recommendations for helping new customers. Thanks read more

Coffee here is pretty good, the smoothies are great. The food is pretty average. The ambiance is nice. The cashier girl was super helpful even though I was a bit of a pain and ordered a bunch of things, she was patient. I ended up getting a nitro cold brew with a dash of Carmel. When it came out it was more of Carmel with a drop of cold brew, a bit too unbearably sweet. So I kindly asked the barista man with a little pony tail if I could please maybe just add some more cold brew to level the sweetness and he had quite the problem with it! He said in a very condescending voice "oh is it too sweet? Then what do you want?" I noticed his uneasiness and I tried to accommodate because who knows! Maybe he was having a bad morning. So I said, "oh yes I'm sorry it's just a tad too sweet, could you just add a bit of coffee to level it out" and he barked back, "SO NO SWEETNESS THEN?" I assumed, agreeing with him would make it easiest for both of us, so I simply agreed to no sweetness and drank my bitter cold brew. I understand it can be tricky working in the food service industry, I just hope no one else's day was tainted by the bitter pony tail man. read more

If you have 15 min to wait for a cup of coffee this is your place. Although I continue to return for their"best drink ever" I am continuously reminded on how slow they are at making beverages. Nice and friendly staff though. read more

How nice it was on this trip to Encinitas to find a new uber cool coffee, breakfast and hangout spot. On 3 different occasions I stopped in for a fresh dark roast, and then went back another time with Susan for brunch, which was delicious. The environment is set up for community use, which I like, but also has private tables along the walls. They sell a bunch of branded goods (t-shirts, hoodies and mugs, as well as coffee, tea, etc)... Pro's: great coffee and treats, and those big open windows along the street side. Con's: the way the lines move is a little wonky, and the line on the left seems to bunch up. Also, the second day I was there, there were a lot of flies inside the place. I guess that's the price you pay for all those great open windows. read more

Love "the best drink ever". Definitely on the sweeter side. Very cute design. The place is always packed, very smooth flow though. You should try it. read more

Terrible service, expect to wait 15 minutes in line and another 15 waiting for your drink. Always under staffed. And the cashier's will chat rather than taking orders. read more

O.M.G...the lemon ricotta toast on levain bread is a light fluffy toast, with whipped ricotta, chopped pistachios, sliced strawberries, mint leaves and a drizzle of honey. I almost died it was so amazing. I forgot that I had came for coffee!! read more

I love this coffee shop for many reasons. I can start off by saying Its a staple in San Diego for coffee. Its really similar to the San Marcos Drive thru location, but this shop has food.... amazing food at that. I'm addicted to avocado toast like many other millennial, so I go here mainly for that. lol. But the coffee is amazing as well, I prefer the iced hazelnut divinity or the best drink ever. Both are great. The only downsides, are the price & parking, avocado toast will run you $8ish dollars as well as any other breakfast sandwiches there. & a large fancy coffee will run around $6-7. read more

Delicious coffee with great prices. The main reason I'm writing a review is because the staff was truly wonderful. The guy that took my order was so nice and genuine. Such an awesome coffee shop and I definitely recommend this place! read more

Came in waited about 2-4 min while they took a phone order than waited 13 min for one cup of coffee. What seem phone orders where being made. I could see them working hard however all phone orders. Perhaps you will say then call it in. But why not just tell me . I was upset I've never waited so long specially when there's no one physically in front of me. I get it when I see the line but today was just wrong. read more

One of my favorite coffee shops! I've gone to a few locations. Coffe and service is always great

Giving it a 3 star only because the cashier didnt give me the exact amount of change and i had to come back to ask for it. She didn't even apologize. But Everything else is perfect. The location, the ambiance, the coffee and the turkey sandwich is to die for! Wish i lived closer! Would definitely come back again. read more

Such a cool vibe. Love the "best drink ever" and the sandwiches are great. Despite being packed every time I've been there, they are always really nice and keep the place clean. Good addition to the 101. read more

Better Buzz is always my go-to coffee shop in San Diego. LOVE "the best drink ever" - it's sweet, but literally the best drink ever for someone who isn't so good at coffee like me. Not only coffee, but their toasts (esp avocado toast) is amazing. A little bit pricy for just an avocado toast (around 6 dollars) BUT it is worth a try! read more

Great place for grabbing coffee. Parents, something to keep in mind they are not stroller friendly. Went there this morning and although the customers were very thoughtful and were trying to move their chairs to get me and my baby through, it was a long line and very hard for me to go up to each person and ask to move. So I asked the girl taking orders if the line could be moved to where it normally is (it's normally on the left when you walk in past the juices) and she responded "I'm not the one who decides where the line is". Hmmm. I was surprised at her heartless reaction. We ended up leaving walking over to Lofty. I am sure they had to eventually move the line because it clearly wasn't going to working out. There are a lot of parents with strollers that go there. We go frequently and will continue to but just wanted to let you know. read more

This is my new favorite coffee spot. Beyond an awesome industrial atmosphere, fun staff, and some bomb ass coffee. They have some really really unique coffee. I had an iced mint mojito coffee that was out of this world. If you're looking for a Oreo flavored iced coffee or your average Starbucks BS this spot will be out of your league. read more

Ugh! I looove coffee and this place was delish! The line was super hectic but they managed it very well!

Ordered online and it said ready at 8:30-40 came in at 8:45 and it wasn't ready. Waited for 15 mins then it was ready- I order a slice of bread and they didn't have it. The coffee was good but the people were not very friendly and welcoming or sorry about waiting an extra 20 mins on top of not having the items they had on their mobile order read more

I enjoy coming here for the food. The açaí bowls are good and the breakfast items as well as sandwiches are yummy. I do not care for their drinks. The cafe drinks are too bitter and the tea drinks are way to sweet. It's a bummer that they don't have loose leaf tea - apparently it is concentrated. Be prepared to order to go as it is very hard to get a seat- people like to linger for hours on their laptops. read more

Was in the area and arrived at 540am to see if the location was open. Sign on outside of door said open at 530. Doors were locked, 2 employees were inside prepping. They noticed me outside, I waved, then the looked at each other and started to laugh. I stood there for a couple minutes while they ignored me. I knocked again, and again they did the same thing. Looked at me, rolled their eyes and laughed. Continuing to look at me and ignore me I stood there till 550am until one of the employees came to the door to finally tell me that they didn't open until 6 like I was already supposed to know that. Insanely rude of them. I used to come to this location all the time, I'll now never come here again. Common courtesy and kindness goes a long way in your industry. All they had to do was tell me me they didn't open till 6 when they first saw me. Hope owner can see this and have a talk with their employees and how to treat their customers. read more

Sorry. Horrible ice latte for me. Maybe it was only my experience. The fashion valley location tastes solid. The place is definitely beautiful. Sometimes it's just the vibe you need, not so much flavor.... read more

There's a reason why the drink is called: the best drink ever. I always get it iced and I'm always one happy person. It's a real treat, however as I'm normally believe it or not a black coffee drinker but this just keeps me coming back every time I want a pick me up! read more

This place is the best. My go-to drink is an iced best drink ever. It's simple yet so delicious. I normally get my coffee and leave, but I decided to try going in for breakfast. I got my drink and a breakfast sandwich. It was large, full of flavor, and well worth the price. After I finished, one of the employees there, Victoria, came by to check in and ask how the drinks, food, and service were. I really appreciated her care and hospitality. Love to the food & drink. Love to the service. No love to the wi/fi because it's severely clogging this place with campers who apparently don't have any office space. i've been going here for five and a half years, probably have spent thousands of dollars if not tens of thousands of dollars and the quality is pretty hit or miss. today was particularly bad. the microgreens on the avocado toast were wilted and slimey, the açaí bowl was watery nonsense with a crushed, rotten blueberry and the matcha was toxically sweet. there's a ton of employee turnover here (much more than other local spots so it doesn't surprise me that the food quality is all over the place, but it's still a bummer). clearly, i've been going here for a long time so i'll probably wind up here again, but not for a while after today. i miss the managers who made sure the food was good- ariel (circa five years ago) and jordan (circa a year ago). when you've lived in a place for 25 years you don't want to see a lot of employee, especially manger, turnover and the quality of the food constantly cycle. better buzz: please get better about paying your employees more or whatever you need to do to retain people who make good food. of course, i've had great açaí bowls here and good avocado toast and many great matchas but i don't know what i'm going to get depending on who's working and i'd rather go to another coffee spot where the quality of the food is consistent and they have better employee retention. read more

I went there a few times. The coffee is good. But what is the deal with the flies!! I don't want to state the obvious but they need to fix that. Although a lot of patrons in there don't seem to mind. Other than that, it's a decent experience. read more

Came in with the family after a fantastic dinner on the 101. Promised my son- that was so well mannered for dinner- a hot chocolate for dessert and I got a holiday drink that they are advertising. My son's didn't have whipped cream which is a common topping for hot chocolate and my drink wasn't served as the photo either. I had to ask the young barrista girl for some whipped cream and sprinkles of cinnamon as pictured. Under her breath she goes.. "it's not supposed to have whipped cream but whatever" I reminded her of the photos all over the shop and she simply shrugged her shoulders and put a small dab on top. For the price and location of the place I think it should be more polished and workers should be better with customers. I didn't bother with asking for my sons whip since the girl was so snooty. Just gave him mine.. read more

I normally love coming here. Love thier coffee and the space. I come a few times a week to work, they have the best avocado toast in town. But.... it's 58 degrees and ALL the windows are open.
