DYLAN was extremely nice and professional coffee was just as good will be coming back!!

We live in Los Angeles, but every time we go to San Diego I make it a point to stop at least twice during our stay. My all time favorite drink is "the best drink ever" and it definitely lives up to its name. I get the drink both hot or cold, depending on my mood and the weather. No other coffee has come close to the taste and flavor. I am an avid coffee drinker and I rank this as my #1 coffee spot, and my only qualm is that there isn't one closer to home! read more

Always gotten their Iced Honey latte here, but did you guys know how much I loooooove Better Buzz??? Yea me neither, until I tried their Iced Honey latte with Rose extract!!! Oooohh myyyy yummmy goodness!!!! So, theres a drink called Rose water latte exclusively for Hillcrest &Encinitas. I was gonna get it, but they dont have it in a large size and this coffee fiend cannot NOT have a large. So this sweet lady, after asking her if they can do honey latte with rose water, happily adjusted my drink for my complicated butt. Ding, ding, ding!!!! A whole new awesomeness was born! Yaaaass!!!! girl, yaass!!!! It wasn't too sweet, just how I like it! I do wish that they have rose water at all locations.... actually, it would be better if there is a Better Buzz in Carmel mtn/Poway/Mira mesa. Pleeaase!!!! Now I want better buzz. Sigh... so good yet so far. read more

Parking is a pain, but if you come early, you will be lucky and beat the crowd. The shop is easy to find and it gets crowded. Everything on the menu sounds great but if you are into sweets, you need to try the Hazelnut Divinity, which is hazelnut with white chocolate mocha. The only thing about this drink is that it is pure sugar and no coffee whatsoever. I highly recommend you to ask for less sugar or more ice to get the drink a little more diluted. I can't really say much about other drinks since this is my go to drink and you can always order your typical Starbucks or Coffee Bean drinks here as well. They have little snacks here and there and breakfast food like croissants and cookies. Everything about this coffee shop is great and that one drink is great! read more

Parking here can be difficult at times because it is located in a downtown area. Considering that, people are constantly grabbing a cup of Joe and leaving! I've only tried the iced mint mojito and honey latte, both were mediocre. Nothing special.. but I definitely want to try more out! I've heard good things about the BDE and hazelnut. The avocado toast here however is incredible! Love coming to Better Buzz just for that. It gets crowded here, especially on weekends but you'll likely be able to score a table to study. It does get loud because a coaster or some sort of train is nearby. They should really invest in the air conditioning at this location, it gets to feel sticky inside and flies are everywhere.. quite distracting. Employees are super friendly and make for a good experience at the Encinitas location! read more

Tough to post a "negative review" for this, but wanted to let others know they do not, in fact, have a drive thru at this location

Tea was fine. Egg in my sandwich was completely cooked through, basically hard boiled. Service was absolute garbage. We waited 30 min for our drinks and food and others were served before us even though they ordered after us. The man disseminating orders gave me some of the most rude customer service during covid after my family asked where our order was. Come to find out it had just been sitting behind the counter. I also needed napkins because my lavender black tea was dripping from the lid all over my clothes due to it being poorly assembled, when I waited for him to finish announcing an order he threw me a few and walked away without saying a word after I had given my thank you. He only came to the counter to give out orders so how else was I supposed to ask for something as simple as a napkin and get reprimanded for "asking while he was giving out orders". Absolute trash experience. read more

By far the BEST latte I've had in California! The shop itself is a great vibe and the coffee is even better. Me and my boyfriend love this spot! Iconic little San Diego coffee shop. It's by a lot of really great shops and restaurants so very conveniently located. Highly recommend! read more

I love Better Buzz and have been a loyal patron since I moved down to San Diego. I ordered a decaf latte because I am pregnant and while waiting for my drink the baristas began to speak poorly of those who order decaf. They did not use professional language and it was very degrading. Pregnant women should not drink caffeine and they do not need to be insulted by their choice. Staff should be more conscious of speaking, especially if it's about a customer. read more

This is my go-to coffee shop in san diego. Consistently the best coffee, food, environment & service you'll find. The best avocado toast i've ever had is the feta avo from here & the iced mint coffee w/ soy is great as well! The only thing I would recommend is getting any of the drinks half sweet, as they can be overly sweetened. read more

You know when folks in customer service have that "Whatever you want, Imma make it for you" attitude? It makes me want to buy everything in that coffee shop. I have been there twice and it just keeps getting better with every visit. The girls here are so friendly and not that overly fake bubbly vibe but that super chill, happy to be there and happy to help you, vibe. I ask a lot of questions in general and this visit was no different. "How is this coffee prepared?" "What are the flavor notes?" (Just kidding I've never asked this) "Can you make this dairy free?" "Are you gonna call me like you said you would? Is this really your phone number?" (Classic song choice if you ask me) And they most def can make most of the drinks Dairy free. I ordered the Moroccan Spice Iced Latte with Soy and my husband ordered the Almond Milk Horchata Latte. We both LOVED our coffees. I would ask for more soy in mine next time. I loved coffee but straight up bean water doesn't tickle my fancy. Already planning our next trip...it's worth it. read more

Fix your estimation time algorithm for pickup. Standing around for another 35+ minutes after your estimation time is unacceptable. What's worse is that people who are ordering at the window in that time frame were getting there orders before I was able to get my order. Wow really? I get you are busy on a Saturday morning, but figure it out geez. read more

My daughter recently recommended the Lavender Latte at Better Buzz.. I stopped in while downtown and got one. So yummy... staff is nice, really a cute place to sip a cup of coffee! read more

Went here for a coffee and chocolate croissant, which was really good. While I was working I noticed a man keep staring at me and wouldn't stop, he made me feel really unsafe and tried to talk to me multiple times even when I showed disinterest. He kept getting closer to me even after I moved further down the seat. The kindest worker discreetly came up to me and asked me if I wanted him to leave and said he had been making others feel uncomfortable too. They asked him to leave and even called the police after he became argumentative. I felt so relieved to have a such a great staff of workers look out for me like that and I truly am grateful for the workers here and their level of precaution. read more

By far my favorite coffee and tea shop in the area! Better Buzz also carries pastries and other savory snacks other than drinks! I absolutely love Better Buzz's coffee shop, the first thing you'll notice is their decor! Contemporary. Welcoming. Cool! Their Chai Tea was refreshing! Smooth and creamy and I'm just too excited to try this place out again! Can i have a Better Buzz Coffee in NorCal please? Life's better buzzed anyways... read more

Really good food and coffee. They are a bit slow in service, but the quality is consistently good. I miss eating at the coffee shop. The Best Drink Ever is my favorite, followed by the rose latte. The adffogato is fabulous. read more

Immediately came here after waiting 5 minutes at the front of the line at Philz. Condescending barista and overall poor aesthetic. Better buzz is everything you want in a coffee shop and more. They are nice and efficient, makes you appreciate the many locations. Philz, on the other hand, is on the descent into madness. Also saw many cute dogs on highway 101. #betterthanphilz read more

Really enjoyed the coffee. Super busy which is great to see but they really need a deep cleaning! Dust everywhere.....makes me think if that effects the food? Counters need cleaning too. Maybe next visit they'll clean up. read more

Nice place to work or catch up with friends. If you're looking for an EXTRA KICK in your coffee, I highly recommend the Killer Bee.

I've heard so much about this place so finally decided to give it a try. It's a very trendy spot- perfect for the area. I got a vanilla latte and spent almost $6. Because I work remote, I'm constantly on the look out for a coffee shop with Wifi and comfortable seats (you'd think that wouldn't be hard to find!) I was here for about an hour and the Wifi went out 3 times, I ended up having to leave because it was so bad and kept interrupting my work! Also- I was seated on their blue barstools on the side facing the wall and they were too tall for the table- very uncomfortable. Disappointed with my overall experience. read more

Ordered an espresso with a splash of steamed almond milk. Then they handed me an espresso that had cold milk... so the whole thing was cold. Went back to tell them, they re did it, and added no milk. Really disappointed, i drunk half of it and threw it away....I understand that you are busy...but you should take care of your customers if you want them coming back! read more

I've had a love /hate relationship with better buzz in the past- love the food and coffee!! Hate the service. Last Saturday was the worst yet. I waited in line just to place my order for 30 minutes while my daughter and dog sat alone at a table. Why would there be only ONE register open at 10:45 am on Saturday? I ordered avocado toast for almost $9. Supposed to come on the thick multigrain bread with radishes, cucumbers and sprouts. Since they don't bring your food out to you... you have to stand to the side waiting... while my daughter was still sitting alone outside with the dog. After 45 min we received our drinks, finished them... and still no avocado toast. I went back in to ask, still not ready.. finally the toast was ready... what a HUGE disappointment! They were out of the thick bread it's usually served on, out of cucumber and sprouts... why did I pay $9 and wait almost an hour for this? I wanted to take my daughter out for some mom/daughter time and she chose better buzz- we were there for an hour and I got to spend 15 minutes with her... I'm not coming back read more

Good food and coffee. But everyone who works here is so rude and have major attitudes. Barista with glasses and bleached blonde longish hair is a peach...very rude. Never coming here again. Much better choices for coffee and amazing food elsewhere. Service stinks, and although good, the food and drinks take forever. read more

The coffee was pretty good but the ambiance was so effected by two people that worked there, that I had to write this review. The cashier, a young brunette with a pony tail, literally yelled about 5x during our 25 minute visit, that the store was closing. Literally yelled! The guy, a heavy set young man with short brunette hair, yelled out people's names as he made their coffee. He yelled it and an incredibly loud decibel, which was truly uneccesary. It made the visit so, so uncomfortable and incredibly annoying. I have been to hundreds of coffee houses around the world and have never experienced anything so odd and frankly rude. Whoever owns this place needs to tame their employees. read more

The best drink ever is really the best drink ever!! Great service and amazing coffee!! Jordan is awesome.

I'm not a coffee person. Never got into it and never got the addiction. That being said, every time I pass a better buzz whether it be this location or one in PB or Point Loma I always stop. Their "best drink ever" whether it's iced in summer or hot in winter, is exactly what you'd expect...the best drink ever. You won't be disappointed! read more

Better Buzz is my favorite coffee place in the San Diego area. The vibes are always so relaxed, warm, and hip. It's a great place to study with natural light, outlets, decent seating and space. My personal favorite coffee drink is the iced moroccan spice. It has a great burst of flavor with its mix of various spices. My mom had the best drink ever, and agreed that the name was definitely fitting. As for smoothies, the pink dragon is amazing! It's possibly the best pitaya blend I've had and I always get sad when I finish it. There's often times a line or a lot of people but service is quick, and quality is always fantastic!! read more

Strong coffee goodies. Bomb design plan. Covid safety procedures on point. Quick service. Would visit daily if I could.

Encinitas has some great coffee and BB is the least tasty. The menu is very limited and not that great. Customer service is also very so so

Yes! It gets all the stuff right. It is in the genre of hipster-ish, hand-crafted coffee with decor that looks cast-off but is really quite careful. Which is a good genre, IMO. I came here to work during 'busy' hours -- early evening along Encinitas main strip. And it was still relaxing and chill, with friendly quick service and plenty of places to sit and wi-fi. The coffee was very good; I liked it enough that I _also_ bookmarked their other location (San Marcos) as a 'good place to work' for myself -- that is the extent to which this place's quality inspired faith in its proprietors' ability to create pleasantly atmospheric, reasonably-enough priced, good-place-to-work-or-chill-out type of coffee shops. read more

Super bummed, the drinks at this location do not taste anything like what I'm used to at different locations! I swear by the pink dragon smoothie at the San Diego location, but I tried it here today and it was awful! I didn't realize it comes with bee pollen on top, they never put it on at the other location I go to, so I thought maybe this was why it tasted so weird and irritated my throat. I asked them if they could remake it without the bee pollen which they did very begrudgingly, but it was still a completely different taste than I'm used to. I have no idea why it tastes different here than at other locations but I feel like I wasted $8 here for something I really didn't enjoy and ended up throwing away. When I asked them if they could remake it without the pee pollen the male barista was very nice and said of course but then a woman came out who didn't seem very happy that I dared ask this of them and she started questioning why they need to remake it when it says on the menu it has bee pollen in it. I told her I didn't realize it had bee pollen because the other location I go to has never put it on top. I also never have an irritated throat from a smoothie but I did today so I thought I could potentially be allergic to the bee pollen. Anyway I shouldn't need to explain my life story to her, but thank you to the male barista for being kind about it! Bummed I came all the way out here for a smoothie that ended up in the garbage. On a completely different note, there's signs saying no dogs allowed in the store but there were 2 dogs in there and nobody seemed to care so I guess it's fair to say that rule isn't enforced? read more

If you're looking for the best experience in town whether it is coffee, tea, food, internet or people watching - Better Buzz is the best coffee shop in town. Great atmosphere to meet family, friends and awesome strangers. The staff is always friendly, outgoing and exceed my expectations. Their selection of tea, and various forms of coffee are always top notch. The mouthwatering selection of food is well worth it. My favorites are the almond butter and seasonal jam toast, ham brioche, and turkey pesto sandwich along with either a summer passion tea, coffee or a hot chocolate. 7/5 Starts. EDITED 5/3/18: The OG Bowl is sensation you cannot miss out on! Today was the first time I had it and am happy I had tried it out. read more

Milk options range from regular cows milk, hemp milk, almond and soy. I am in LOVE. The coffee is smooth and the espresso is even smoother. Try their dulce de leche latte for the holiday. You can ask them to adjust the sweetness level. read more

I came here on a recommendation from a friend when I was visiting San Diego. I absolutely loved the vibe of the shop and everyone was friendly and welcoming. My coffee (an iced Best Drink Ever) was amazing and definitely lived up to the name. But my yogurt bowl took an extremely long time to be prepared and then came out with mold on some of the berries. While this was extremely unappetizing, the staff at Better Buzz made up for it by replacing it with a new meal that was delicious! read more

Love your coffee. It's the best. Unfortunately, the Encinitas location never answers their phone or has the phones off the hook ("Mailbox is full"). For the past month, I continue to call to place a phone order (at least 1 - 2 times a week) and this happens every time. When I have spoken to staff while onsite, they claim that it is because the night crew doesn't charges the phones. If this is accurate, this is poor Management. It seems they do not care to answer the phone/take phone orders as this is a consistent issue. It is super inconvenient as a customer on-the-go. Online ordering would alleviate this flaw that needs to be addressed. Or, having one employee man/be responsible for the phone line (in addition to charging the phones at night - add to the closing checklist). I hope this is corrected as I truly love your coffee but am unable to wait 20 minutes in line. Thank you. read more

The avocado toast is 5* but the coffee is just ok. They also have great açaí bowls topped with fruit, granola, bee pollen, etc. Parking is tough and tables are hard to find as many guests use this as their office for long periods of time (even though tables are clearly marked "no laptops"). Regardless, this is my favorite avo toast in town so I'm a frequent visitor. read more

Came here after breakfast and didn't care for it. The menu is confusing. Can't stand how coffee places are taking the hipster thing to far that it makes it hard to figure out what drink you want. Ice matcha with soy milk, don't think they gave me soy milk. I get this drink everyday from everywhere and this one didn't taste like what I'm use to. Horchata late - my boyfriend didn't like this. Sugar free vanilla late- again wasn't sugar free. The drinks weren't good and two were wrong but it's so crazy busy that waiting for them to fix them would've been even more annoying. read more
