Beth's is the really greasy spoon breakfast joint that is a Seattle legend. There are many reasons for this. One the atmosphere. Beth's has nostalgia and a current vibe hidden with her layers. From the building to the home artistry on the walls this place has it all. Don't be offended if someone curses like a sailor just focus on what is important the breakfast. They are probably drunk if it's late or early morning. The food may not be the best thing critics eat but to me it's seriously awesome. The eggs, sausage, bacon, corned beef, hash browns, omelette, pancakes, toast place of happiness is a palace of breakfast. There are not many places that can equal Beth's Cafe. If you haven't been please don't set the bar super high. It's just breakfast but it's not a crappy IHOP or the finest dining breakfast place. It's where the pirates of Seattle go to eat after a long, rainy evening of smacking glasses together with frothy brew rolling around the ships. Argh!! Just enjoy the hearty portions, the midnight black coffee, and Beth's in all her glory. read more

We went here due to the Yelp reviews... THANK YOU!! Warning: DIET BUSTER. Also, not a huge amount of options for vegetarians. But, I found a great veggie scramble. Omelets are made with 6, yes SIX eggs - that's the small! Scrambles are 3 eggs. Everything is served on a gloriously greasy pile of hash browns. This is a great dive breakfast, I would definitely return...after another 3 month diet. read more

I've been here twice now and holy crap they give you a lot of food. My mom and I split the 6-egg omelet and STILL couldn't finish it. Definitely get a big bag for your buck. I disagree that the food and service aren't good. We had an excellent waitress both times, and the food was delicious....and I know food. The pictures on the walls are....a little unnerving as someone actually thought them up....and then drew it....and then they let them paste it on the wall. It's funny, though. Further proof that most people that eat there are drunk/stoned (I was not either). You should check it out, though....the jam they have on the table is addicting. read more

A Seattle name stay, Beth's has been around for ages. Nestled off of Aurora Ave N. right across from Green Lake, this unsuspecting place is easily overlooked. The small sign outside is the only announcement of their location and if you're not careful, you will mistake the sign for something else other than a cafe. The place has been around since 1954 and open 24-7 ever since. The stars of their show are their omelettes. The smallest omelette you can order is 6 eggs!!! But wait, there's more... If you are feeling a massive amount of hunger or if you're bringing a group of 4 or more and you want to split the check. You can order a 12 egg omelette! That's right, an entire dozen eggs light and fluffy cooked to perfection and filled with your choice of fillings. They serve the thing on a pizza tray. It comes with hash browns and toast as well so bring your appetite or plan on taking home a doggy bag. Beth's isn't just about the 12 egg omelette however. All of the food that they serve is made with great attention to quality. You can order breakfast, lunch or dinner at any time day or night night or the twilight hours or very early morning. The venue itself is quite the dive. They don't have much time to stop and clean things but they do make sure the tables and floors stay as clean as they can. The place is grungy and the walls are stained. There is a build up of blood, sweat, tears, grease and more but you don't go there for that. You go for the atmosphere and the food. Oh the food. Can you say all you can eat hash browns? Except that all I can eat is what they bring me on my plate. the portions are big and well worth the prices. The staff is friendly and they are all a bunch of really hard working folks but you get a feeling that if you were to cross one the wrong way, you'd find yourself being carted to the door and thrown out on your face by not just every employee but the other patrons as well. They have a way of doing things around here and you don't mess with that and I am totally cool with it. They always offer a nice assortment of hot sauce and the jam is delectable. The place is usually busy. Especially late night and early morning but if you drive up and they look packed, park anyway and get on the list. It usually isn't very long before a table opens up and you can relax in the game room while you wait. This little greasy spoon cafe is still a hidden gem after all of these years but is has a cult following. It's one of the places that you need to put on your bucket list. Come to Seattle and eat at Beth's! Thanks for reading. read more

I really don't get why this place is popular! Went their with a couple of friends last evening and ordered a 3 egg veggie scramble. It was extremely bland and the hash browns were tasteless. The toast was greasy and not toasted well. The place itself is very dirty and the wall filled with sketches while cute, make the place look even more unhygienic. I guess it's popular just because they make 12 egg omelettes. Nothing impressive about it, I'm definitely not going there again. read more

Beth's is open 24 hours a day which is very convenient when you want a late night bite to eat with your friends! They sell a 12 egg omelette which comes on top of hash browns... my friend ordered it for fun and it was HUGE! It was definitely a crowd pleaser. I typically try to eat vegan so I ordered their hash browns- very good! The portions were large and and pretty tasty for straight forward (not fancy) breakfast food. Four stars for the decent service and decent quality food. The atmosphere is definitely not nice however the fact that they attach customer's drawings to the walls makes it friendly. I would go here again if my friends wanted to! read more

It's midnight and I got a hankering for some eggs.. Just left the club and looking some food... I need me some hangover food.. Let's have an eating contest.. I want to doodle while I eat.. If you ever find yourself in any of these situations or anything similar.. Beth's is calling your name! Beth's is best known for its 12 egg omelettes, made famous to the world from an old "Man versus Food" episode, they also do 6 egg omelettes if you cant handle the 12. They have a variety of famous omelette combos such as the Triple Bypass, the Northwest and the Veggie but you can also make your own. All of these omelettes come on a bed of hashbrowns, which if your stomach can somehow handle more is unlimited and a few slabs of toast. The menu also contains an assortment of different breakfast items such as biscuits and gravy, country fried steak, pancakes - you name it. Be warned, serving sizes at Beth's are HUGE and you will NEVER leave hungry. Note, if you want to share these omelettes they do charge 1.50 for an extra plate, but at 12 bucks for that much food an extra 1.50 tacked onto the tab aint a bad deal. Their menu also contains burgers and sandwiches as well as shakes and desserts. I absolutely LOVE LOVE their milkshakes, strawberry to be exact. Shakes are thick and creamy and to add to its greatness, its topped off with at least 3 inches of whipped cream.. heaven.. And while I love eggs as much as the next person, my person favorite items on the menu are their so called "mini" breakfasts. Only there is nothing mini about them, you can choose from bacon, eggs, sauages, hashbrowns, etc. Let me take a minute to talk a little bit about the restaurant itself. Don't come here expecting a clean cut, super proper, ritzy eating establishment, it is a 24/7 diner off of Aurora. As you walk in the front door you get an up close and personal view of the kitchen where all the magic happens. There are scattered booths in the first and second room that can accomodate groups between 2 and 8. And along the walls.. works of arts from all of Beth's loving patrons. Be mindful of the times that you choose to come, there have been many times we pull up and there are groups of people waiting outside. The staff at Beth's in my experience have always been great, hats off to them - I have seen them continually handle the most unruly patrons and still remain cheerful. What more can you ask for. Beth's is a true Seattle landmark, a must visit for visitors and a def go to for those living here. read more

Beth's Cafe - six egg triple bypass omelette with rye toast and unlimited hash browns - American Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Beth's is a place I probably would have loved in college. 6 months out, I would rather make my greasy spoon, late-night drunk food, early-morning hangover food in the comforts of my own home. Despite enticing entree selections like all you can eat hash browns and 12-egg omelettes, the food (excepting the addictive strawberry jam & toasted egg bread) is ... well, hard to finish. It's a nice touch that diners can take a break from scarfing down food by drawing a picture for Beth's wall, or playing an arcade game by the bathroom... but even with the crayons, the music, the games & the drunk-people-viewing, the bagel sandwich (a dam of ham, one dense, buttered egg, a melted mountain of cheddar cheese) is eminently unstomachable. If it's your thing though, it's your thing. At 3am, dining options are limited; you're either here or at Denny's. Beth's is local, hipster, grungy, musical, young, fun, etc. Meanwhile, no one looks cool for checking into Denny's on their smart phone. On a lonely, quiet night, I would stop by for camaraderie and stay for... others to eat. Maybe steal a forkful of someone's greasy, bottomless hash browns. Bottom Line: The menu tastes better than the food, but if you're cool, you have to be here. :) read more

For the divine, sweet marinated strawberry jam glazed llama that comes down from the hills to feast on one breakfast place every year, with a side of a child sacrifice. He would definitely be a regular (yearly?) here. Im a huge fan of breakfast! (Just in general always huge but hey, im just thick bone with a side of not going to the gym and eating badly, but mainly thick bone) and just stoping by at Beths has always been a very pleasant experience. (I solemnly swear that im up to no good!) Atmosphere: Walking in you immediately see the kitchen and you get a sudden smell of whats to come. (Which I was already drooling, making it hard to speak and not spit on people like a llama with his guard up in mating season.) The whole restaurant has the feeling of people coming here and just enjoying some great breakfast food, with trinkets, old pictures next to the cash register and really special drawings that are meaningful to them. (Which is amazing to see some character from the owners, cuz feelings matter and manly. Yeah!o.o) The walls are completely covered with inventive drawings of previous breakfast warriors of the old Beth. (Which reminds me of a kindergarten wall but everyone is 18 and older and they have not dwindle down on their imagination with some amazing adult twists, which makes me realize and smile that theres hope in this world. o.o). The seats and tables are basic, plain and somewhat outdated with the floor seeing better days. ( But when you go in, you suddenly get that feeling of not really caring about what the furniture looks like and you stop being a pretension Ace-hole [Peter.. im just putting this name here.. just for no reason at all... Peter o.o this is you... yep for no reason O.O!!] and for once in your life you actually just close up your bear trap on your face to realize that sometimes its not about the image their selling but what their giving so just keep your thoughts in your head and eat. shhhh.. just eat. ^_^) Customer Service: Knowing that this place does get busy in the day time, the best time is to come around midnight. (Due to blood moon is out and harvesting souls are easier to collect.. or cuz their a 24/7 diner.) The waiting at the time is not too bad (at that time) and you get seated right away. The staff has always been super friendly and I'm always fascinated to see everyones tattoos, gauges, their style, smiles and character they bring to the table. (Table, bring, waitress. get it? lol *crickets* o.o) The staff always looks productive and positive and brings the restaurant together, very patient and there if you have any questions about the menu or refills in drinks or condiments. (Plus the amazing hairstyles that they have, would make the cast of "hairspray" get a regular job and never think about showbiz again!.. yeah I've never seen that movie. lol) Just with all those circumstances you should tip nicely. (Or ill just have to tip you with a baseball bat to your face. o.o) Food/Drinks/Price: OMG.... JUST SO GOOD. (If you've never tasted happiness, this is your place._.)The portions are amazing (Not your typical, you look at a picture, you finally get your food and then you realize that the picture is life size of that picture portion and your in that dilemma of trying to hold back from asking for a second meal on your first date. [But lets face it, theres no chance for a second date.. so you go ahead and ask for a second one to find that that second plate is smaller than the first.]) and they don't hold back on the flavor or the whip cream. (It will make you see someone across the other side of the room with tears as well and you'll connect in a spiritual level on how good this food is, making you both stand up and kiss the cook. [Which I'm guessing that chef gets kissed by a lot of emotional man for his amazing talents]) With beverages that kicks Starbucks right in the tree nuts and says: "We are the creators of dreams and the eyes of the world."Their shakes are the reason why children smile in schools, thats how delicious they are. (My hands are sweaty typing this, just by thinking about this food. Kinda like a cat running into a room and destroying a room just at the thought of catnip that they had 3 months ago.) Price is done perfectly, specially for the food that they hand out and just the bizarre (but Im entrance at this) atmosphere that they hand out is well asked for. Conclusion: This establishment (haha... establishment.. ohh wow, now your using fancy words? lol) is amazing, for a lover of breakfast food (which is a huge undertone cuz its my favorite meal o.o), with fascinating decorations (that would make the models of Zoolander look homeless) and their delightful staff (that mother Teresa would approve of), I have to say that I will be coming back again and again! (but if you feel like amazing food is not to your liking I would recommend you never walking into daylight ever again, due to you not having any taste buds. Mischief manage.) read more

Beth's Cafe - By the heavens of the heavenly creamy clouds!!! Beam me up Scotty! - American Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I'm actually very surprised about the mixed reviews on Beth's. I love breakfast/diner spots and this one is definitely at the top of my list! My boyfriend is originally from Seattle, so he took me here when we were visiting. I had heard about this 12 egg omelet, so I had to get one...but we got the 6 egg instead, to split. The omelet we ordered was called the "Northwesterner" and it had salmon and cream cheese inside. It was so good, my mouth is watering thinking about it! Thank goodness we got the 6 egg omelet to split, because we just barely finished it between the two of us. I don't know what kind of mutant chickens produce eggs that big; I can't even imagine what the 12 egg omelet would look like. There was a small charge for an extra plate (maybe $1) but it was worth it. The hash browns were pretty standard and of course unlimited. But there was no need to refill our plate, there was more than enough food. I can't wait to go back to this place and try some of the other great omelet combinations! read more

WOW! That's the best word that comes to mind when I think about Beth's Cafe. I've lived in the Seattle area my whole life. I had never heard of Beth's Cafe until I saw it several years back on Man Vs. Food. Finally had the opportunity to try it a few days ago. Beth's Cafe is an unassuming looking place. It is located on a fairly busy street, not surrounded by many other restaurants, so it would be easy to miss. The restaurant itself it pretty small. It reminded me of one of those old fashioned diners. The staff was very friendly. The walls are full of coloring book pictures. Which I thought made it unique. After browsing the menu we decided on the Triple Bypass 6 egg omelette which we shared and we still had food left over. I would 100% order this again! Your order is made fresh.the hashbrowns are very good. We added grilled onion to the hashbrowns. We also asked for raspberry jam which I believe is homemade. Everything was very good. The food was so good we went back the next day and tried a different omelet. Bottom Line: When in Seattle, definitely stop by Beth's Cafe. The food is excellent. The staff are friendly, you will be glad you did. read more

Love the staff and the overall look of this place. The service was speedy and with smiles. I ordered the waffle and a bagel with cream cheese. The waffle was soft and the cream cheese was fluffy. My friend got the Patty melt and says that it was a solid meal for the price, only thing was his fries were undercooked. I'm not from around here but I would totally come back if I make another trip up! read more

Beth's Cafe - Had a great breakfast! - American Near Me - Seattle, Washington

A well-worn and beloved 24-hour diner. My favorite diner in the city. Beth's is a love letter to all the vampires who spend nights nursing a bottomless cup of coffee into the wee hours. FOR YOUR HUNGRY BODY: The food is greasy, there's a lot of it, and it's GOOD. We're talking unlimited hash browns, a choice of either a six or twelve-egg omelet, and bacon so thick every other diner's bacon can only dream of achieving such bacon-y excellence. We're talking an order of "white toast" that arrives as two fat triangles of Texas toast, grilled and stacked so the buttered insides stay warm while you eat. The six-egg veggie omelet is massive and begs for ketchup and Tobasco (maybe that's the point), but that's exactly what I wanted: no-frills real food. The onion rings were perfectly-fried and plentiful - four of us failed to finish the order that came with a burger. The chili came topped with a heaping mound of shredded cheese and big slices of jalapeno. I ate like a glutton and still took home half my omelet. The prices are Midwest-reasonable! Don't be thrown by the higher numbers, they reflect the amount of food you get. FOR YOUR HUNGRY SOUL: The staff brings you paper and crayons after taking your order. Drawings adorn the menus and nearly every inch of the walls - an ever-evolving gallery curated by the world's proudest parent. If you're the type of person who has not yet come to own your creativity, this is the safest space in the city to draw. We found ourselves prolonging our meal and lingering after we'd finished, drawing and talking. FOR YOUR HUNGRY HEART: 2am soundtrack was Tom Waits and Rob Zombie. The staff is one big, functional family of misfits, down-to-earth folks with sick tattoos and love for what they do. The drinks are filled regularly, the jokes are funny, and the service is warm and friendly. You will not feel lonely here. read more

The waffle is amazing, it is so sweet and was perfectly cooked! I got it with whipped cream and it was so flavorful I didn't even end up using the syrup or butter I ordered. I also tried the 12 egg omelette which is just insane to look at, but also SO tasty. My friend ate the apple pie and said it was delicious. The sides of bacon and toast were also great. Overall my favorite 24 hour spot in Seattle at the moment! read more

BEST BEST BEST greesy spoon in seattle!!! Yum Yum Yum. I use to frequent Beth's often... kinda been slackin over the last few years... I now remember why I was so fond of it before! OMG... Hashbrowns, best in town, and all you can eat!! Never to say I have taken them up on the refill, but it's nice to have the option! I recently went to Beth's after a night of drinking with friends, I think I was one of the only people in my 12 person group that have been there... BAD BAD Seattleites! =) Needless to say, everyone was a fan. Nothing like grubbin on breakfast at 2am after the bar scene! read more

Walking into Beths on a Saturday night is like accidentally walking in on a Party. The usual foods but always good. I went here at 10:30 on a Saturday night and it was packed but that was to be expected. The staff has many unique characters. My favorite: a cook dressed in all black with a beanie but what completed his look was the red and white ruffle/lace apron. Our waitress was sweet and friendly. She checked on us throughout the meal and made sure everything was right. My sister and I split the Vegetarian biscuits and gravy with vegan sausage. Absolutely delicious, served with 4 dense biscuits and plenty of gravy. You couldn't tell the sausage was vegan. Reasonably priced too. Only $6.05 after tax. 3 stars for the food, the 4th star is for the staff and atmosphere. Oh, and you better like ALL types of music, you never know what will be playing. Last night it was Tu Pac and T.I. Great place to go with friends when you need a good laugh and light-hearted conversation. read more

I'm at exactly 3.5 stars as I sit down to write this, so I'll see where my review takes me. The good: Huge portions. A 6 egg omelette is a good start to my day. I could probably tackle a 12-egger for dinner, but didn't feel like cramming quite that much omelette into me for lunch. Also, I got the biggest one they offered, with three meats and extra cheese. The great: The cake. I knew for months that I had to try it. The chocolate cake is absolutely up there. Not THE best (and I'm not counting my mom's, which is obviously the best by definition), but definitely get it. The not-good: Lack of flavor overall. I mean, yeah, the omelette was just eggs, meat, and cheese, but they could have added a little salt, herbs, you know, something other than just throwing the ingredients together. Same with the hash browns, they were just potatoes. They tasted... fake almost, as if they were done up in margarine instead of butter or oil. Whatever they were cooked in needs to be changed. They should also be done better; they came out as hash clears instead of browns. At least you can add any omelette ingredient to your hash browns. The ...eh: Smallish place. I like the atmosphere, you can put up your crayon drawing on the wall, but it means quite a wait around brunchtime (50 minutes for a group of 5 - glad I arrived a half hour early to get on the list!). No wait at all for dinner. Waitresses are slightly surly, not as bad as East Coast, and definitely with a friendly twist. Service is pretty good considering, but water refills are hard to come by. Drinks are rather expensive, though they might come with refills (didn't ask). Parking can be had, just be prepared to prowl side streets for a bit. It's an institution, and unlike some places, they haven't traded in their values for their fame. They're not great, but as some have said, it's a greasy spoon joint. On that note, I've decided they earn the 4th star. read more

ok... I know it is a "cool" place and it is open 24/7 which is really great, but ... after visiting it twice, once on Sunday 10am, and once on Thursday 1am (Yes. 1 in the morning), I got to the same conclusion... Pricey (granola in a disposable cup - $6), bad service, greasy food with no real attention/intention or love put into it (I stood in the front looking at the cook for 20min), try and get some more "free" hash browns, u r suddenly invisible... we even had to ask, both times, for colors and papers to draw. And the punch line... 30 min wait time for 6 eggs omelette. No, thank you. read more

Their 6 egg omelet... what's there to say? It's insane!! But in a brilliantly good way. It's one of the few dishes I'd indulge, say, once a month (since I'm from the hippy city of Vancouver up north). I could literally feel my arteries clogging up from this dish. . Ask yourself how willing you are to commit to your meal then choose between their legendary 6 or 12 egg omelette... needless to say you won't be leaving hungry. Every wall is covered with drawings made by mostly adult customers (myself included) that ask for crayons and paper as they wait for their food so there's plenty to look at. The one big negative is that they are great at keeping your coffee cup full which means that you'll most likely have to visit their absolutely disgusting restroom at some point during your meal. My mainstay is the Southwestern exposure brisket chili, sour cream, cheddar, and I like to throw ham and mushrooms in there just to make it super godlike. 5/5 Never go wrong. Their chicken fried steak surprised me the first time I had it. Much chewier texture than most of the super soft stuff floating around at other joints. I was a fan. 5/5. The bacon here is so insanely good, perfect balance between crispy and chewy. 5/5 I've had a few bites of their Philly Cheesesteak and I remember specifically that the bell pepper and onions were cooked perfectly. 5/5 The steak and eggs here is respectable too, good value for the price. 5/5. The decor is awesome. The power of creativity pinned all over the walls. Arcade in the back, awesome counter top seating and a jukebox. The service is always so warm and inviting. It's a novelty restaurant. They might have a 12 egg omelet served on a pizza tray that is bigger then your head or a small baby hippo, but that doesn't mean it's any good. Here are the pros/cons: Pros: Atmosphere, First seeing the 12 egg behemoth, Being able to color at your table without people looking at you weird. Beth's Cafe - You'll see a lot of drawings all throughout the walls. - American Near Me - Seattle, Washington

What's not to like here? It's a 50s-style diner that's been in operation since 1954, so it's not a 50s-style diner it's an honest-to-god 50s diner. Anyway, the atmosphere is cook and funky with all the customer's drawings hung on the walls and the music is always fun. The food is good in that greasy diner way which you crave every now and then. It's not gourmet, but damn does it make you feel good. It's a bit more than you might expect at about $11 for an omelette, but it's a 6-egg omelette that will have you full until past your normal dinner time, so it's hard to complain. The only downside is that it gets really busy on Sunday mornings when everyone wants to go out to brunch, but that's to be expected. read more

Disclaimers to the following review: 1) I've only come here twice 2) Once was around 10pm, the other was well past midnight 3) Once was on a weekday, the other was on a Saturday 4) I've only had their 12-egg omelettes, and shared between 4+ people What I've learned: 1) 12-egg omelettes are perfect for a post-midterm/finals ritual. 2) 12-egg omelettes bring people together 3) 12-egg omelettes at night are amazing 4) Drawing with crayons is always fun 5) If you go on a Saturday, expect a wait and some "friendly" exports from the tavern next door 6) If you go late at night, its probably best to go with men in your company 7) If you go for someone's birthday, you will awesomely get a candle in your omelette. read more
