I have been going to Beth's for years, so I know not to expect culinary heights. But it always has been reliably good for a greasy spoon and friendly service. Today though I ordered Bacon and Eggs and the Bacon was so overcooked as to be nothing more than blackened salt sticks that turned to powder in my mouth when I bit one. No one who likes bacon likes their bacon treated like that. I proceeded to eat my entire breakfast except I did not touch that bacon again. Not once did a server come ask me how my breakfast was. I did not eat quickly. I left a plate of four virtually untouched pieces of bacon on an otherwise empty plate and even though the cashier clearly looked at my plate of burnt bacon, neither did she ask how my meal was. If you are a 24/7 diner that serves breakfast always and you can't get bacon right or even notice that a customer is not choking down your inedible cooking, you really are missing the mark big time. read more

This place truly is filled with papered wall doodles. Some are very artistic and some are just plain silly. Food is good but honestly pretty darn unhealthy, well i would think the famous 12-egg omelets would give you a hint. It's convenient in that it's across from Green lake but it's open 24hrs a day!!!! wow....This place is very "chill" and well, they offer paper and crayons. read more

Hell yeah! This place serves a killer breakfast! Fo sho! It got voted " Best Breakfast" in America I believe, a time or 2!? I've eaten here twice & never had a problem wit' the price or food! The location is kinda dumpy, but I've seen worse! The food is outstanding & huge portions! A perfect place 2 hang out wit' friends! read more

My eggs were so perfect I had a tear in my eye. Breakfast food is the best at Beth's, and you can't beat 24/7. If you don't like divey joints, freaky people, and eggs, eat at home, wuss. read more

This review is based entirely on this morning's experience. I took two 12-year-old nephews to Beth's. I had a single pancake with blueberry topping. One of the little monsters had hash browns only, and the other brat ordered a pancake and some eggs. Both little ones raved about their plates and especially liked the pinball machines and retro video games in a small room adjacent to the dining area. My pancake was huge, hot and delicious, and the topping was great--very fresh, not too sweet, and loaded with lots of real blueberries. The service was fast, courteous, and efficient, and the wait staff was very obliging, handling special requests without issue. As I said, I've only been to Beth's once, but once was sufficient to make me very glad I don't live in the neighborhood...if I did, I'd be shopping for larger pants. Great job, Beth's! read more

Beth's is very good at being exactly and only what it intends to be. Which is really hard to explain until you get there. And remember, you come here for the cultural experience and community more than for the food. Beth's has been serving up culture for ever and reliably provides a welcome social experience for those looking outside of normal and toting some brightly colored crayons. The massive signature dishes like the crazy eggy omelets are worth blogging about. Don't eat them to often or you'll be walking like a chicken sooner than you think. read more

Beths is a great place to go for a breakfast anytime restaurant. It's a bit better than ihops since I like to support non chaînés shops. The environment is unique in that it has drawings from customers pinned to their walls. They also have an omelet challenge that consist of 9 eggs I believe. I tried their omelet, and it was mediocre. I would not say it's better than any other omelet I have tried before. The food was okay. Maybe because I had breakfast food and it is usually the same as many other breakfast chains?? I'm not sure but their sausages eggs and hashbrown were just as oily as any other. What stood out about the place is the strawberry shake I had. Great texture and flavor. So I would recommend that. It's nice because it opens late and serves breakfast throughout. Good place for late night eating. read more

Yes this is the place for a fresh breakfast. Long lines sometimes but great food. Everything we ordered was top notch cooked to perfection and was enjoyable. Family friendly and knowledgeable staff. Environment is friendly and relaxing. You will quickly be reminded that you are in Seattle, the home of grunge, if you are a tourist. read more

Can I give zero stars? We decided Beth's would be a good place for a meetup, so we invited a bunch of people to meet us there and socialize (and eat). Even before we walked in we could tell there was going to be problems. There is a sign on the door that reads: "You must have everyone in your party present before being seated." Um... Really? Who does that? So we talk to the server, and mention that we aren't sure how many people will show up, but probably around 6 - 8. She tells us to find out how many for sure and wait in the game room for them. (jaw drops). This place is practically empty. Why are they acting like they are being inconvenienced? SO we wait and about 6 people are present so far. We mention that we now have most of our party, but that other people may come. The server (lady) looks concerned. She looks to her manager (I suppose) and asks if that's ok. He sits there and also looking deeply wronged and put off (right in front of us, mind you) and finally says "I suppose that will work." Wow, thanks for the mercy! So we sit down and the server lady tells us that we can't order anything until our whole party has arrived. We tell her that we're not even sure if anyone else will be coming because this is a meetup. She's like, "Well can't you call them and find out?" "We don't know them, we're meeting them for the first time..." So she goes and talks to her manager I believe, and comes back a bit later after a few others have arrived. She finally takes our order, and at this point, we have 10 people, which take up two different tables. We ask the server if it's ok if we move the bigger table right next to us. "I have to ask my manager" she says. Comes back about 10 seconds later - "He says NO, sorry". Seriously? Is he trying to get back at us for not following these stupid rules he created? I almost wanted to feel bad for the waitress because it seemed like she couldn't do anything without going through him and worrying about him lashing out or something. But she's got her own issues too, because when she came to get the last guys order who showed up late and he wasn't ready, she blurted "Well we have to clean the grill so you really need to order now." They have to clean the grill? RIGHT NOW? They are open 24 hours, 7 days a week! WTF? Please don't give these people the pleasure of talking you down, telling you what to do, or berating you for reasons unwarranted. You're just going to want to punch all of them in the face. Save yourself the hassle and don't visit Beth's. read more

Outstanding food and prices are very reasonable for the large amount of food. Great place to feed a hungry family. Service was great on our visit, staff was very kind and attentive. Atmosphere may be an acquired taste but we really enjoyed it and felt it added to the experience. read more

This grungy place was gross. The wait staff were unpleasant in attire and behavior. The food was mediocre. As a reply to Chris one of the employees there, that's fine that you "have been around a long time" but so what? Means nothing. The walls covered with bad crayola art cannot be cleaned if they are covered with paper scribbles. The health dept needs to inspect the premises, imho. read more

This place is great only when you and your buddies are looking for quantity over quality late at night. I only come after midnight because it definitely isn't my first choice if I'm craving the best omelet ever. I've had much better omelets. That said, it's satisfying and the unlimited hash browns are awesome. Definitely worth checking out if you've never been before. Not often you get the opportunity to wolf down a 12 egg omelet. read more

I'm a out of state student at UW and a few friends said that this was a MUST GO so we went. We had an hour wait and since it was so busy I assumed it was good. When there's an hour wait for a restaurant, it has to be good, right? I was extremely disappointed. I know people go for the omelets but I had also hear good things about their pancakes so I got that. How can you go wrong with pancakes at a breakfast place right? Beth's did it. I got the Pancake breakfast with 2 pancakes, sausage and eggs over medium and the pancakes were thin, pale, chewy and flavorless. I will admit that the eggs were perfectly cooked. The one thing I couldn't get over was the my food came out cold. I understand that they were busy, but from I hear Beth's is busy all the time, so you would think they would be accustomed to getting the food out quickly so it is served hot. The cleanliness of the place is also something to be discussed. I get dives, but this place was just gross. The floor is dirty, the table wasn't completely wiped down, and the menus had dirt and dust all over them. The service was horrible also. I understand that they are busy, but that doesn't excuse poor service. We saw our waitress maybe twice, and the first time she came by she immediately asked if we were ready to order. After waiting outside in the cold for an hour we didn't want to rush through our breakfast and we felt rushed. Overall, the food isn't as good as the hype of the place. I wouldn't go back. read more

I love their omelets (6-12 eggs w/unlimited hash browns) . Ive been attending this place since I was a kid as my dad has. the décor is a bit shocking to most people and maybe a little scary but if you can get passed that and the wait time to be seated , you'll forget all that once you have the food. portions are plentiful and fare priced. read more

Definitely a tourist attraction for Seattle. Usually I love Beth's, I want to say I eat here at least once a month. I'm knocking off a couple stars because they were off their game this last time, I understand it's their "hipster" atmosphere they have going on that explains the customer service but this does not go for their food. I ordered the eggs Benedict and i was thinking I was going in on some amazing grub but it just wasn't good at all. My boyfriend got the triple bypass omelet- he couldn't say much about it either. Also the coffee was old and by this time I was already out $50....what happened Beths?!?! read more

Sat at the counter. Watched the cook use his bare hands to put a waffle on a plate. Then watched him use his bare hands to grab a heap of scrambled eggs off one plate and put it onto another. Then he put two fried eggs on top of the hash browns that had been under the scrambled eggs. Those eggs sat and got cold until he put a grilled steak next to them. Then the eggs and steak sat for several more minutes. Lastly, he added an English Muffin. That plate turned out to be my order. The eggs were cold. The steak was overdone. The muffin was under-toasted and soggy. The potatoes were saturated with grease. A dreadful meal. Hours later, at home, I had diarrhea. read more

Service was poor week day not busy ordered a12 egg omelet mainly egg only partial ham and mushrooms inside talked with manager James and said well there's nothing technically wrong with it even tho there was only filing in half the omelet like wtf and he didn't really care and to start things out left food sitting in window about 5 minutes before serving it to us love this place been coming here since i was a kid but no love from me tonight thumbs down place has gone down read more

Good Gosh, but they still make great omelets here! Sadly, gone are "the good old days" in the 70s watching the cook sweating in a tank-top with a cigarette dangling from his lips, slinging hash browns and omelets. But the food is still gnarly-good! Hey, thanks for keeping this Seattle institution alive, now co-owned by the Duck Island folks next door and Grinders up in Shoreline. read more

Food=ok Portion=huge Clean=heck NO Staff=RUDE AND SLOW Recommendation=NOPE The staff here were so rude it really ruined a nice and rare date night with my wife. Really great BISCUITS and gravy. Priced right and homey. Large portions too. A downtown old atmosphere but quaint and really good food.

This was a bigggg disappointment . I don't know how this place is not shut down, it is so disgusting and dirty. When I parked in the back it should have not gone in. If you want to puke just look around at the grease and trash all over the place. I don't think they have ever cleaned the inside of this place. I really don't know why they walk around and and meow like cats how annoying!!!!! Save your money and go somewhere else and enjoy your meal. read more

I like this place in terms of an idea (drawings posted on the wall, refillable hash browns, grungy/cool hangout) but its absolutely disgusting. Tacky lighting, shitty furniture/decorating, gross ppl, crumbs, grease, filth everywhere... Doesn't make food in front of you appetizing when everything around you is nasty. read more

Lovely overall vibe with the drawings on the walls. Great music. Amazing food. Very friendly staff. 6-egged omelet with unlimited hash browns on point. Coming back for dessert later this evening read more

The only thing I liked about this place was our waitress and the drawings on the wall that took my mind off the 20 minutes it took to get our food after a 10 minute wait to take our order after a 30 minute wait to get a table, after such reviews why not wait? Because the food is terrible, the gravy was flour with what could be sausage grease but I think it was just plain grease. 12 egg omelet is cool yeah, but I can do that in my kitchen in less time and probably not risk my life while doing so, dirty. I can see where people could love this place, its a good theory, but in my book food has to be good to get me in the door, its more than just atmosphere. On top of that the kids taking names at the door were rude and not all that helpful when asked a simple question of how long the wait was (you do have to wait outside, if you aren't aware if this be prepared to be reprimanded and scorned) I love hole in the walls, this is just a hole. read more

Don't believe the hype! This place sucks!! The food is always swimming in pools of cheap grease, parking is a nightmare, and the service is freakin' awful! So they have omelets the size of pizza pans... yay. The place is always crammed full of people at tiny, sticky tables, and you're waitress is almost guaranteed to have a crappy attitude. Which I've been told is part of the game. If I'm going to catch a bunch of attitude from my waitress, the food better be worth it. Here, it is not. The positive to eating here: It is decorated with an array of drunken artwork from various patrons, making your dining experience at least visually stimulating. I would not recommend this place to others... If you're looking for a funky Seattle diner experience, head to the 5 Points. They're food is good and the place is just as eclectic! read more

A group of my friends and I went to Beth's Cafe, solely for the purpose of seeing what the fuss was about. We saw a portion of the travel Network advocating Beth's cafe. As I was entering the restaurant, the host rudely mumbled something I was unable to understand so I politely ask him to repeat himself. He proceeded to treat me like I did not speak English and yelled "HOW-MANY?" in my face. As an Asian woman in Seattle who speaks perfect English I have never been treated in such blatantly aggressive xenophobic way. He took us to our table before we had a chance to sit down he said " what the hell? Don't eye f**k me. your in my house now, you don't like it, leave". Needless to say we walked out immediately, as we left he sneered "that's right". I have worked in food service, I understand the frustration with people who are rude and demanding. There was no provocation on our part I am deeply confused as to how a business can employ such a staff and remain solvent. read more

12 egg omelets. World famous. Right by Green Lake. What more can be said. Oh yes, this place is filled with the most disgusting, rude, junkie-status waitstaff that you could imagine. I've been here say, twice. A 1-star worth two visits? Absolutely, I couldn't believe my eyes the first go-round, so we had to come back. Yes, those dreadlocks are hanging in your food, yes, that waitress did just ask me "what the f*#@ do I want to eat". Wow, I thought I was dreaming. Just my luck, the next time coming in we were straight up denied seating, they just weren't in the mood I guess. That's ok. I've never liked dreads hanging in my food anyhow. Of course, this was years ago, and I'm sure that places with this reputation that have been around this long, so maybe it's changed, or more likely, they are doing something right that people love.... like never ending hash browns. Between the popularity and the attitude, this place OBVIOUSLY does not need my business.... Thanks for listening. read more

Beth's is just another Seattle Dump of a restaurant where the hipsters go and think being treated like crap by the employees is somehow cool. Employees with bad attitudes and bad haircuts. If you really need to eat Beth's food you'd be far better off going to Duck Island (same owner) next door where you can get anything from the Beth's menu before 1a.m. At least there you can get a good beer to wash down the greasy mess they try to pass off as food and the bartender won't treat you like crap. read more

Ok, I admit, I first learned of Beth's while watching the Travel Channel, featuring their 12 egg omelets. Before I get the Seattle freeze on me, I was a newbie from CA. So we all decided to bus there, since we don't live that far. The place isn't known for their warm , cozy ambiance, and I am ok with that. I've had good food in total dives before. So we got seated, and proceeded to peruse the menu. The thing that hit me was their Sampler( a biscuit covered in gravy, two eggs, hashbrowns, and toast). I was quite undecided. The boys, I forgot what, but I want to say Makin Bacon. Well anywho, anything we ordered would be enough to keep a cardiologist in business for a while. The thing I remembered the most of my breakfast was the biscuit and gravy! Yum! That was pretty good. Damn good I should say. I know the boys enjoyed theirs too. While the service isn't as friendly as say IHOP, they do know what they're doing. When I first moved up here I was told to come here before my 30's, that way I could work it off better. LOL! They weren't kidding. If you love art and love colors, check out their walls it's all plastered with all kinds of arts. You can easily tell who was under the influence while doing it, but none the less it's freaking entertaining. I had to give them four stars because, it's so divey, greasy, good, and someone requested Sunday Bloody Sunday on the Jukebox, which was a nice touch, since we went on a Sunday. How fitting. read more

Beth's Cafe was one of my favorite spot until recently when they refused my friend's service dog. He automatically assumed that just because the dog was small, it wasn't a service dog. He didn't even care about the fact that my friend mentioned she had an ID. He told my friend that the dog needed to go even after explaining that the dog was an emotional support service animal. Just because he is a service animal for emotional support doesn't mean his value means any less. My friend didn't argue and told the group to stay and order. But to be honest, it was unfair for the him to discriminate against my friend. His refusal belittled my friend's disability. It didn't felt right to stay, so we left. I personally felt the issue was handled poorly. read more
