The food is greasy, plentiful, and delicious; the perfect cure for a weekend hangover. The cafe itself has cool hand drawn pictures from patrons all over the walls. However, it's a bit dirty. I guess that's expected as I believe it is opened 24 hours. It was crowded on the Sunday morning I went but I can't help to think it gets a bit ratchet there showing up on a Saturday night at 2am. Don't come here looking for your mimosas and egg white omelettes (I asked, and they laughed). The walls are lined with hand colored pictures by patrons. The establishment is not by any means fancy and does not try to be. It's open 24/7. Service is on point. I never ran out of coffee or water. Oh while I'm on the subject of coffee, it's surprisingly delicious black - it's smooth as opposed to acidic. Food was delivered hot, and pretty damn good. I ordered an omelette and it was picture perfect- no brown marks from over cooking and the cheese was perfectly melted in the inside. We ordered the triple bypass with 6 eggs to share and it was $1.50 extra to share (they give you unlimited hash browns). Dude you can't even finish the hash browns on the plate but knowing that they were unlimited gave us a lot of satisfaction. We also had a side of country fried steak and a cinnamon roll for dessert. Overall bill came out to 33$ including a coffee and excluding tip. 1. Triple Bypass Omelette- in egg heaven with these 6 eggs, the omelette shell was tasty and creamy. The cheese was nicely melted throughout the majority of the omelette. Inside was also bacon, sausage, and ham. Plate came with two slices of wheat toast, and they have homemade jam on the table for you. Cons: bacon was a little overcooked and hash browns were soggy. The hash browns were under the massive omelette though so no big deal. 2. Country tried steak- pretty standard. Gravy was good, steak was nice and not too overcooked. First off....do not let the outside of this place fool you. The service is INCREDIBLE, portions large, and food delicious. This is a great place for a family breakfast if you like omelettes. The 12 egg omelette comes with unlimited hashbrowns and toast. There is a $1.75 charge/extra plate but that's okay as this massive meal will feed everyone. Tons of options for the fillings of the omelettes. There are also the typical breakfast fair like biscuits and gravy, scrambles, waffles, pancakes, french toast, breakfast burritos, steak and eggs, etc. Come as you are and leave full :) I am not sure why people are leaving 1, 3 or 4 stars as this place is a cafe on Aurora and it's kind of a hole in the wall. I expected a lot more when I came here. I should have read more reviews but that only takes you so far because everyone's taste is different. The minute I parked and stepped out and looked at Beth's, I knew it was going to be bad. It looks like a dump from the outside. It's in a bad location but that's where it's been for centuries. I will give them this, the staff is super friendly and they are on point. The food is just bad, I ordered the steak and eggs with hash browns and a short stack of pancakes. I know I'm not getting a prime cut of steak here, it was like eating beef jerky. I expected to have some fluffy pancakes but instead I got rubber tires, the butter knife I had wouldn't cut through them. The eggs and hash browns were the only things on my plate that were ok. The prices are outrageous for what you are getting, I paid $35 and that was including a tip that they most graciously add for you. You're better off going to Dennys or IHOP. Don't come here. If you're in the area, live in Washington or just visiting. I'd definitely recommend this place. It has a lay back vibe and have fun art taped onto the walls (drawn by customers). It's open 24/7 and you can park in the back lot or on the street. Sometimes parking can be a pain. The service can be inconsistent varying on the server and time of day. When I went on a weekday around 6/7pm, it wasn't too busy. We were seated right away. The server checked up on us a couple times and even offered us another plate of hashbrowns. The food is always fresh, you get it pretty quick and its comparable to the little diners up east says my friend. I love the bottomless hashbrowns and shakes. The sandwiches are tasty as well. I was excited to go here because of the 12 egg omelettes and because it was on TV shows. The divey diner was pretty packed, the service was mixed (some nice, other's didn't give a shit about customers), and the food was "meh." The 12 egg omelette was very big, looked good, and enough to feed 4 hungry people. After the first two bites, you realize there isn't anything special about the omelet. The loaded insides and eggs were bland. I've had better and literally had better the next day elsewhere. The Biscuits and Gravy were very good. I enjoyed it more than the omelet. The gravy was flavorful and had nice bits of meat. I think it made the eggs and hash browns better. Without the gravy the eggs were pretty plain (like the omelet). Overall, I would not suggest my friends to go there unless trying to complete the 12 egg omelette challenge. Even then, I don't think it'd be that fun/exciting. The experience wasn't great. Like I said before it took a long time to be seated, they forgot some of our order, food wasn't that good, and some (not all) of the staff yelling at customers in the crammed doorway wasn't cool. Beth's is one of those rare restaurants that survives apparently by sheer momentum. It has been a fixture occupying a niche as an all-night eatery in Greenlake for decades, remaining flamboyantly itself despite all adversity: somehow open and viable without a liquor license, somehow not a pile of ash despite being wallpapered with greasy drawings courtesy of its many guests over the years, despite being so jaw-droppingly ugly, so outdated it might yet come back into style should we experience another Great Depression. Horrid smells of chemicals and rotten garbage emanate from the dish pit if you sit at the counter. Horrid smells of another nature entirely emanate from the dining room, courtesy of what maybe the nastiest viable (meaning it still manages to remove waste from the building) restroom in the city (The 5-Point may give them a run for their money there). It is a restroom so septic-looking, so stained and foul, you are afraid to wash your hands because it might involve touching the water tap. I shudder in sympathy with anyone who might have to sit on the toilet, which many people have apparently used as sort of a vague target to pee in the direction of. Used paper towels overflow the bin and stickily mat the floor. It's a trainspotting-style restroom experience. For this reason and others, make sure the food you eat is very hot. The food? It's actually pretty good! Like all restaurants, you're advised to order what they like to cook, and here that means eggs, especially omelets. Stay away from the chili and I'd advise against salad, or anything else not heated. The service is generally excellent, if you are friendly and compassionate with the staff that braves this environment daily. Don't bitch about the noise, DO help clear your table if it's crazy busy. Keep your expectations keenly focused on the fact that this crazy diamond will remain just as wack as it's always been, and avoid disappointment. So why would I recommend such a place? Simply: you've not actually experienced Seattle, and you're certainly not a local, unless you have at least one story that starts or ends with: "...So, we walked into Beth's and grabbed a seat, and then..." This spot is still open during late night hours! Their customer service is always at its best. Our meals are always made fresh and our wait time is never more than 10 minutes! The bacon scramble was delicious. Our meals tend to be HUGE and thats what gets me hooked!! Try their fries, they're delicious! As for cleanliness, its clean. They have sanitizer for everyone at the front door. Theres a fee charge as well. I believe 5$ to dine in. Besides that, every visit to Beths Cafe is wonderful. Saw this place years ago on Man vs Food. One day, I just decided to just go for it and attempt to eat one of their massive 12 egg omelettes. I opted to get a custom one with chili, bacon, and grilled onions, just to avoid being bogged down by the cheese that's in all of their named omelettes. All I can say is, Holy Smokes! Each of our meals were huge and so good. The waffle was crunchy on the edges and fluffy in the middle, and the bacon was thick cut (but too thick) and full of smokey flavor. The Benedict was out of this world. I love me some biscuits and gravy and am a sausage nut, so having the sausage gravy along with a sausage patty on top of everything was heavenly. The hash browns were perfectly prepared and they had just the right amount of gravy smothering everything! The orange juice and coffee were great too. Many times at a diner you get the average or run of the mill juice and coffee. Not so at Beth's. This tasted close to freshly squeezed juice and the coffee was a wonderful blend! I came here because of a recommendation of a friend, and it helped that it was a 24 hr open spot since we at like 9pm haha. Just as the other reviewers had mentioned, the food portion was incredible! I shared my plate with a friend, and was still full with half the portion of the pancakes. And because we WERE at Beth's, we had to try their eggs! Two of my guy friends shared the 12 egg omelette, and sad to say they weren't able to finish it because it is MASSIVE. But they did enjoy it very much!! The only reason I'm not giving a higher rating is because of the service. Maybe it was because it was late at night and the workers had a long day, but they were a little snappy. It wasn't the friendliest environment, but I hope it was just a one-time thing, and hope my next visit will prove my rating wrong. Can't say that I've had a bad experience during my two visits to Beth's - though perhaps that has something to do with the fact that I've never found myself forced to use the Chamber of Secrets (their restroom). Of course, all the big servings in the world don't mean a thing if the flavor's not there. The kitchen at Beth's does dish out some good cooking, though! I'm partial to the Makin' Bacon omelette, which is stuffed full of thick-cut bacon and Swiss cheese, with some tomato interspersed throughout. The bacon has a pronounced, satisfying crunch that balances out the gooey, perfectly-melted cheese; the whole combination is wrapped up in what looks like a down comforter made of egg. If you're somehow not completely filled after devouring the egg equivalent of a Death Star, the bottomless hash browns will surely do you in. Facility - 2 stars (below standard) The walls were not clean and full of fruit flies. Floors were sticky and littered with crumbs. Nobody checked up on us to see how we were doing. When asked about the fruit flies the waitress blamed the ketchup bottle and said we had to deal with it. Food - 3.5 stars (Between standard and enjoyable) We had the cheeseburger with tater tots as well as The Fullhouse 12 eggs omelette (diced ham, mushroom, american cheese). The food as a whole was pretty standard. It wasn't anything very memorable. The size of the omelette was probably the only food that set this restaurant apart from others. Hefty amount of hashbrowns (all you can eat with omlette order). The ingredients used in the omelette did not disappoint. My wife enjoyed the tater tots more than the entree due to the burger bun feeling stiff and spongy (the buns weren't toasted). Overview - 3 stars We understand people don't necessarily come here for the facility and service but a two star facility and service is what it is. What you see on the outside is what you get on the inside. As a grease diner, the food came in a timely manner and was enjoyable for the most part. This omelette has breakfast sausage, bacon, diced ham, and American and Swiss cheese. On top of this was a large serving of hash browns that were also bottomless. This thing was massive. Like, I think it was served on a pizza tray. I'll be honest, I think that if you get the omelette and rate this lower than a 4, you're taking this place too seriously. That being said, yeah, the omelette was good. The eggs were cooked all the way through, and it was super meaty and cheesy. I will say that the American cheese was an overwhelming taste, and it was super heavy. I was struggling to finish the omelette and I needed hot sauce and ketchup to finish my half. And while the omelette tasted good, I felt like garbage with every bite after about 2 minutes. The hash browns were also really crispy and went well with the heavy and soft omelette. That being said, lots of fun! We finished after about 15 minutes and I regretted everything. It is worth mentioning that we did get an extra plate charge with the omelette because we split, which kind of sucks. The service was also not the best, but do I really care given that it was 2am? Not really. I'm never coming here again. There is no reason for me to come here again after experiencing the 12 egg omelette. This is a definite favorite! I could come here for brunch or for a late night snack any day. I love their casual atmosphere; it's a very homie local feel. Good food. This was a memorable spot for me in high school. They give you LOTS of food, which I am a fan of and the price is not too shabby. We came to try Beth's after seeing them on Travel Channel and hearing all about their massive omelets. Unfortunately, we ended up coming for dinner and most of us we're not in the mood for an omelet. Overall, Beth's has a very divey feel. When you walk in you are inches away from where they cook the food. Hand drawn pictures made out of crayons from past guests serve as the wallpaper. Looking at the drawings (and making your own) are a great way to pass the time while you wait for your food. Ask for a piece of tape when you're finished and you can hang it up on the wall (assuming you can find a space). Old seating and fixtures throughout (it seems), but ample space (with no waiting) for the Sunday afternoon crowd. When we've driven by on the weekend, the place is packed with a line out the door, so make a reservation if you want to go for breakfast/brunch. Our party tried 4 different things: bacon cheeseburger, breakfast burrito, grilled cheese, and a 6 egg omelet. Overall, food was average, but good portion sizes. Burger was pretty dry, but my husband loved the breakfast burrito. Our friend thought he could take on a 6-egg omelet with just bacon inside, but he was mistaken. You definitely need to show up hungry or be prepared to ask for a doggie bag. Beth's is open 24 hours and I think would be best when the late night drunk munchies hit, or as a morning hangover relief. read more
