Had to run into the :Poughkeepsie Best Buy to see if they could match a charging cord for my granddaughter's earlier version Ipad. Stev approached me to offer assistant and was able to find the appropriate charger. At my request I asked if he could be sure it fit and he did so without any hesitation. However, there was something blocking inside the Ipad. He immediately took it over to the Geek Squad to check it out and they found a very small piece of metal from a previous charger. I went looking for something for someone else, check out was relatively painless and quick. When I got home, it wasn't quite what they were looking for. I called the store with a question regarding the return; I ended up getting corporate. Spoke to Victor, he said there should be no problem. Whenever I've heard that! I'd be very careful buying a computer at the Best Buy in Wappinger Falls. I went in to buy a laptop and specifically asked whether it supported Windows Hello, because that was the main feature I needed. The salesperson told me it did, but that turned out to be false. It felt like he was willing to say whatever was necessary to make the sale rather than give accurate information. On top of that, he pushed memberships and Best Buy credit cards, telling me I would save $100 and get extra benefits. When I said I did not want the Visa, he switched to pushing the regular Best Buy card. The problem is that the savings and cash back were not what he claimed, and now I am out extra money and dealing with a hard credit pull. I understand retail sales can be tough, but customers should not be misled just to close a deal. That is especially concerning in a community like Wappinger Falls, where many older shoppers may rely on sales staff to be honest and accurate. Check the specs yourself, read the financing terms carefully, and do not take the sales pitch at face value. Buyer beware. read more

I purchased a Best Buy gift card online for a friend who lives out of state. She could not find the email. I endeavored to resend the gift card via the Best Buy website. This purchase was not listed on my account. I called BB customer service: they could not locate the gift card order. (Order # was included in the BB gift card emails.) They said it was because I was not signed in: I am automatically signed in on the BB website. They said I used a different email: I used the email associated with my BB account. Finally I was told to contact the third party sending me the gift card emails. I noticed a link in the gift card email that said "Customer Service." I thought I was talking to customer service! The link brought me back to the BB website to a page where I can manage the gift card. Why so much trouble? Why is the purchase not on my BB account? So, BB wants the gift money but throws you to the 3rd-party dogs when there's a problem. This is how much they care about their customers. Will never buy a gift card from Best Buy again. read more

I remember back in the days, Best Buy offered so much going from CDs, DVDs, TVs, PCs, and computers. Fast forward, so many electronics came into play knocking out most of those products with having very few in stock. I'm always impressed to see how not messy it is from one department to another, making it a plus. It can be a challenge to find assistance in the gaming and CD department. Usually, most of the time they are found in the tech department, the next one over. Not coming to this store a lot makes you wonder sometimes, that items that get moved to a different location can be a hassle. I have had a very bad experience. I purchased a protection plan and had to use it. As the laptop could not be repaired, I was given a store credit. Problem is, I am not able to use it. I wad told that I needed a gift card, which I did not have because I had not received one. I had receipts with the amount of my credit. I made a small purchase against the credit with the v receipt and was issued another that showed my remaining balance of 957.94. When I tried to make a purchase against that, I was told I could not do so without a gift card. So began weeks and weeks and hours and hours on the phone with supposed customer service, where I have been promised the card will arrive soon, disconnected, left on hold repeatedly during calls that lasted over an hour, and told that the team in "the back office" has rejected my claim because of missing some information, of which I am only made aware when I call again because the gift card has not arrived. I've never experienced anything like this. Sounds like a scam if some sort. But I've provided more information that will be sent along to the back office (the back office has no phone) and I can now look forward to a call from "the outbound" team to inform me of the status of my case. read more

We purchased a suite of kitchen appliances on November 9th. It is now December 14th, and we still don't have them. The salesman at the store was very knowledgable, but the follow-through has been abysmal. The first refrigerator they sent was damaged, so we declined the shipment. They apparently didn't have an undamaged model, so we had to upgrade (spend more money) to get a new one AND had to stay home from work a second day to receive it. We are still waiting for the stove, dishwasher, and hood. The delivery dates keep changing with no phone call or email to tell us of the delay. It's now been five weeks and while we are paying for the appliances, we still don't have them. Home Depot may be annoying, but had we known it was going to take this long to get the appliances from Best Buy, we would have put up with Home Depot may. read more

The delivery was of damaged goods which left me 12 weeks waiting for a replacement stoke at the holidays with no compensation to me a refrigerator that broke within six months and now one year and one week past the due date broke again. Damaged my vehicle beyond their ability to repair while installing a remote starter. As a result, we were responsible for having the vehicle towed from Best Buy's garage to the car dealership for repair (plus finding a ride home). The vehicle is still at the dealership as they try to diagnose the damage incurred by Best Buy. If you are having anything installed in your vehicle there, please be sure to have additional money set aside for the possible expenses of a tow truck, vehicle repairs (and all associated fees), rental car for multiple days, etc. They should reimburse once receipts are furnished and it's processed through their insurance, but be prepared for the expenses in the interim and dealing with an insurance claim. read more

I bought a Dell laptop from this Best Buy in May, 2022. It works great, and I love it, except for one thing. The "forward arrow" key has stopped working. Everything else works fine. I thought maybe a crumb or something was stuck under the key, so I tried using forced air to clean out under the key. It still didn't work. I looked online at videos about how to remove a key and clean it out, but I decided I would rather have a pro do it instead of risking me breaking the button. I called Geek Squad and made an appointment to go to my nearest Best Buy - 1 hour drive away - to have them remove the key and try to fix it. I described the issue IN DETAIL to the phone support person, and she said it would be a breeze for Geek Squad to fix this, in about 20 minutes, and it would cost me $39.99. I made the appointment. I drove an hour yesterday and was early for my appointment. The very nice young Geek told me that they are not trained to remove keys and that, if anything, they would probably have to replace the entire keyboard. He recommended that I go to a small repair service about 4 miles away to bring the laptop to, and he apologized for the Geek Squad support person claiming that they could easily do this repair. He says it happens all the time - that the support phone agents make more money the more appointments they can make, even if in reality the Geek Squad can't really fix something. He suggested writing a negative review. This is disgraceful (which he admitted). I did bring the laptop to the other place, and he acknowledged that they would have to replace the whole keyboard for several hundred dollars. He advised just living with it, esp for such an unimportant key. I'll take his advice. And!: In the process of typing this review, the forward arrow started working again! Go figure!!! I purchased an open box "excellent" tv from this location, I was unable to see as the sales associate told me i had to order it online and then they could bring it out. I played along ordered it, it came out wrapped in bubble wrap. no power cable, no stand no remote. I didnt think of anything of it as it was an open box. took the tv home, it had a damaged screen but when it turned on it was working fine. Fast forward to 5 month's later the tv screen went out. I went to the store asked about the problem they told me it discontinued and had to be replace with a new tv. Okay no big deal, i bought another open box that was in the box and assurred that it was working. i got it home didnt even take it fully out of the box plugged it in, shockingly the tv was broken. went back they tried to tell me "its your fault for breaking it. But we will replace it for you this once." So they sold me a brand new tv told me i have to call geek squad they told me they need to send someone to look at it and confirm its broken and then i would be refunded. So now here we are 15 calls later 14 hang ups from geek squad, and 1 person telling me it on the store i have to go back there. The so call manager of the store, Right off the back she had an attitude problem. She was absolutely no help as she was more concerned on texting and pushing off the blame on me. I explained everything multiple times and she just kept walking away. She told me to call geek squad and deal it with and tell them that she wasnt giving me anything and told me to save my breathe on call her district manager because she going to tell him not give me anything so that i can leave "im done wasting time on you" This is by the far the worst customer service i ever dealt with. This particular Best Buy continues to be a good store for electronic equipment, music, appliances, etc., no doubt due to its size, plus it has a really good Geek Squad department. But they don't always have all the electronic device support I want. They're great for basic stuff, iStuff, etc. Yesterday I went in to price proximity keyboards for my tablet. They had none, and the person I asked barely knew what a proximity keyboard was. BTW, Staples has them. They also carry only a very limited number of car mounts for cell phones. I'd say check the Best Buy website or app before going into a store to see if what you want is carried at any particular store. This store continues to have an above-average selection of music, with good sales. Many Best Buys are reducing their CD department; that hasn't happened here yet. Their appliance department has a really large selection of major appliances. Just be aware that Best Buy is not well rated in Consumer Reports for customer service. When I checked out, I was told my phone number was no longer in their database for their Rewards Zone, because I had not made a purchase in 6 months. Happy Easter 2018... At least until my iPhone 7 crashed. In the fiery wreck of that crash, pics of our family festivities, and about 11k other pics, vids and docs were feared lost. There was a back-up, but it seemed to be a problem too. I contacted Apple the next day and they set me up with a Geek Squad / Genius reservation in less than a couple hours. Not to sound dramatic, but this really could have been a terrible day, but thanks to Holly (at the Geek Squad) it wasn't. She managed to recover my iPhone from a fatal firmware error and revive it. While I was in line, I watched her handle several customers ahead of me. I must say, her confidence and visible knowledge while taking care of those customers put me at ease. The one at the Poughkeepsie mall has very knowledgeable young staff always willing to help and make suggestions on products based on what I have asked for. They are miles ahead of the Best Buy in Cortland town Center in Westchester. Recently I asked a staff to point me to the cameras and he said "Hmm cameras are in the camera department. " Really? Why didn't I think of that. He was half asleep n a new employee as per another staff who actually walked me over to the cameras but knew nothing about them. No more Cortland Best Buy for me. Bought Norton Antivirus Plus for my laptop. I couldn't install it so I called Norton help line. The agent couldn't get it to work either and he even tried to sell me another product. I took the product back to Best Buy and they said they couldn't take it back because that was the law. They never told me when I bought it that I couldn't return it. I would have been happy with store credit but they said no. I will never buy another Norton product and I will probably use Amazon for my electronic purchases. This review is for the Best Buy Mobile store within the mall, not the anchor store at the end. We went in looking for a specific phone, as it was advertised as a deal on Best Buy's website. The phone was on display, complete with prices. Despite the fact that we were the only people in the store, the lone little girl at the counter was more interested in rearranging her MySpace Top-8 or whatever the crap than coming out to help us. So, we went and asked for help. When we asked her about the phone we wanted, she flat out told us "We don't have that", without an explanation. Were you sold out? Were they recalled? Did you eat all of them in a fit? We asked for more information, and she acted like we'd just invaded her bedroom and asked for her undies. Eventually, we asked enough questions to figure out that THAT specific Best Buy wasn't carrying the phone, and "they just didn't have time" to take down the store display advertising it. She couldn't tell us anything, didn't check the website for the active deal when we asked, and pretty much answered questions with the least interested grunts that could be mustered by an articulate human being. We still have no idea if any local Best Buy offers this plan, but it's still active on their website, weeks later. Didn't offer another phone, didn't offer anything. Just acted like a complete and total turd the whole time. We ended up spending a thousand bucks on two new phones somewhere else. So, screw you Best Buy Mobile. You truly absolutely suck. I have had many negative times at the Poughkeepsie NY store, and wish I could say I had good ones. The problem there is the experience of the personal. I was sold an incorrect thermaltake dual hard drive docking station. I explained I have an Apple G4 hard drive and they sold my the wrong one. Granted it's been 5 months until I got the chance to do this transfer due to an illness in the family, it has set me back. The girl tells me they only have a 45 day return policy.
