​My cheap travel laptop stopped picking up WiFi. Computer Guys diagnosed that it needed a bunch of updates, ​including drivers which I wouldn't know of, and the BIOS, which I wouldn't have been able to do myself, and made them. He also flagged my defective mouse and advised me about replacing it. Fair price and turnaround time. About a week later it stopped working again. He stayed open past his closing time to examine the laptop, determined that the piece of hardware that works with the WiFi driver was defective, and recommended I get a wireless USB adapter, which I didn't know existed, to serve as a WiFi hearing aid for the laptop. He didn't charge me for the visit, sold me a used one for a nominal fee, and it's worked fine ever since. I will definitely go back here for any computer services. read more

They took a pair of speakers from me and said they would try to fix them. I already knew they weren't dead, because if I wiggled the cord, sound would come out occasionally. After a week they handed them back saying a "board" was dead.... which I knew couldn't possibly be true. I gave the speakers to someone else, who replaced a cord & fixed them in a few days. Recently I had my laptop and my desktop machines break down on me within 2 days of each other. I'm a full time web developer so I needed a quick turn around in order to survive financially. I brought my computers to The Computer Guys in Saugerties, NY. Unfortunately they couldn't fix my laptop - apparently it overheated and actually burned up. It's kind of scary but there were burn marks on the motherboard. Luckily my desktop machine had just blown a power supply. Perry, the store manager, was very friendly and had my desktop returned to me within a few days. He only charged me $75 dollars for both the diagnosis of my laptop and desktop and the power supply and labor to install it. I considered this to be very reasonable considering what the other guys in town charged me in the past. If you need to have any computers repaired I would highly recommend "The Computer Guys" for all your computing needs. read more

My husbands computer died late Saturday afternoon. We called Perry at 10:00am Monday. He diagnosed the problem. Totally dead. I brought a Dell desktop that wasn't working right to The Computer Guys. I had done a clean installation of Windows 10 from an ISO on a flash drive, but after a couple of months, it became unusable. They said they could fix it by wiping the drive and reinstalling Windows 10, which I gave them on a flash drive. About two weeks later, I picked it up and asked about a key number for Windows. He said I wouldn't need one because they installed their shop copy of Windows. A little over a month later, I began getting pop-ups telling me that Windows was about to expire, and I should activate it. I called the store, and was told that I should bring it and leave it because something must have gone wrong, but I didn't want to do that. I called the following week and was told that a "weird update" had caused the problem, and he could fix it with a tool in about five minutes. Even after doing a couple of Chats with Microsoft, I still could not get it activated. They said I had a volume license copy of Windows 10, and I would have to deal with the shop that installed it. I brought it to The Computer Guys, and they used their tool to reactivate it. Then the second machine, the one I had brought to them a month later, began giving me the same pop-up message about activating Windows 10. When I brought this one to them originally, I included my store-bought copy of Windows 10 for them to install. Once again, they installed their shop copy and said they activated it with my number. The key number I found on my computer was the same as the key number on the other computer, their store number, not the number for the Windows I brought them. After a few Chats with Microsoft, I got my key number registered, and Windows 10 should now continue to work. This saved me another trip to Saugerties. I'll have to do another Chat with Microsoft to get the first machine straightened out before the volume license expires again. So, my complaint is that they did not install the copy of Windows 10 that I had given them for each machine, and they charged me $285 for two temporary Windows installations, requiring me to make another trip to their store to get one reactivated. MS said that the volume license expires, and that's why I got the message to reactivate it. This would continue to happen with each machine every month or so. read more

The Computer guys repaired my desk top computer AND added more RAM for less than the initial estimate which was just for diagnostics and repair. Before I took my computer to them I was told by another computer "professional" that my computer could not be repaired and that I should just throw it away and buy a new one.
