I recently dove 45 minutes to purchase Tamiya spray paint. As I walked into the store I was told to put on a mask. The governor of NY lifted the mask mandate a week before I entered the store. I put on a mask and bought my paint. I will NEVER go into this store again. I'll make all my purchase via the internet from now on. Lastly, I get a better value by purchasing online since the prices of items in this store are higher than on line stores. read more

The store is well stocked, but prices are high. I'm all for "shop local", but I'm not going to pay extortion prices. Also, they have "MASK REQUIRED" signs plastered all over the door (at least 5-7 signs). The store owner is Psycho about the mask policy and pretty arrogant about it. If you're that scared, close up shop and stay home. I'll stick with Amazon. read more

A visit to Hobby House is a bit nostalgic to me. In the 80s and 90s, when it was originally on Old Manchester Rd. under the ownership of Art Frazee, I spent hundreds of dollars on strategy and role-playing games, collectibles, miniatures, paints, etc. Decades ago, I also had model rockets, model cars, and model trains. If I ever wanted to start these hobbies again, Hobby House would be my 1-stop shop, no questions asked. Their selection of Estes model rockets is the best I have ever seen anywhere. They had enough of the basics, and a bit beyond, for your model railroad fix, and a ton of extras, and I'm sure if they don't have it in stock they can order it for you. Although the place was about to close at end-of-day, the store was open when I walked in, and was amazed with this store. Although the aisles were pretty narrow, but the prices were higher than average. Although this place features items for the hobbyist in outdoor hobbies, they do sell craft paints and a few others for indoor hobbies as well. With the prices, come the employees. The employees were knowledgeable, but hard to come-by. They might have been in the back, or out of sight, but they weren't seen, no matter where I looked in the store. I would have expected at least one of them to be behind the counter, but there was no one nearby to ask. (both behind the counter); there was no one on the production floor to help move things back to where they should be(which most stores tend to have at least 1 during all times). This might not have been the best hobby store I've been to, but it certain won't be my last. I don't get down to Poughkeepsie much (from a town in the northern part of the county), but personally, I have my stores close by that I can easily purchase from that doesn't give me much problems. read more

Nice selection of RC cars,trucks and drones, but they don't offer repair. Or too knowledgeable of the mechanics and engineering of RC. I would shop local if there was a shop that offered advice on builds. However all the good local hobby shops have closed because of the reason that I can get a kit car or drone on the internet with more advice then a local hobby shop. read more

To the previous reviewer. Hobby House is owned by a couple, to the best of my knowledge, they have no other employees and since the entire store can be seen from the counter and walked across in 5 paces, expecting them to have someone on the floor at all times is preposterous. Yes, they are somewhat expensive, but no more so than any other small shop. And what you get for that extra expense is expert knowledge, good advice, no shipping charges and the convenience of having your purchase in hand today. I've been a customer for 25 years and I will continue to be one, as I, for one, appreciate those extras. read more

Although Hobby House is small, it never ceases to amaze me the products that are in stock. I'm a hobbyist that is involved in many aspects of modeling and the Hobby House has been there to support all my needs. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and have matched or beaten internet prices for many of my purchases. A little out of my way but always the first choice for my hobby needs. read more

obviously this man has never Set foot in a real hobby store before. hobby house's prices are comparable if not cheaper than alot of other real hobby stores. and with a place as packed with everything you can think of in such a small store you don't need 3 workers. as far as the isle space if you don't fit maybe you should shop at the fake hobby store across the street read more
