We're staying in Rancho Cucamonga for a soccer tournament from my daughter. We asked someone at the park whats the best Soul Food in town as we are from San Diego. Was told to check out Beola's in Upland about a 10 minute drive from where we were staying at Victoria Gardens. The service: A+, we ordered while in route and when we arrived was told our food would be out in 5 minutes. While we waited the Young man working the counter gave us some kool-aid. The Kool-aid was so good. Food: i had the oxtails with mac and cheese and i added a second side of greens. Well worth the up charge. My wife got the Red Snapper with yams, and greens. I took my daughter here for dinner as we were craving some southern comfort food. I have been to their former larger location but I know times were challenging for restaurants during Covid. The current location is a lot smaller but in a great shopping area where the Whole Foods is at. It's more geared for takeout but there are tables both inside and outside. I could care less where a restaurant is or if it's small as the food speaks for itself. I definitely enjoyed the food here as well as my daughter. I ordered the smothered porkchops with an extra side of greens and cornbread. My daughter ordered the chicken and waffle. Everything was spot on! When we saw this place pop up, we had to go try it! And we were so pleased! The chicken and waffles were so delicious. You can literally see the flavor we also decided to try some desserts. The peach cobbler was so so good. Had a pie crust on top instead of crumble, and it was very delicious. I didn't get a photo of my husband's banana pudding (he dug in to it so fast lol) he said it could have used a bit more sweetness, but he still ate the whole thing the young man who served us was so kind and fun to chat with. He was attentive and made great recommendations. We did eat there, but they are set up as more of a to-go spot, so I don't recommend showing up with a big group, but it's good for a party of two or four. If it weren't for the high prices I'd have given Beola's a solid 5-stars for the fantastic tasting food. This is a very casual place that only serves in takeout containers while onsite...so you might expect prices a bit more moderate...but no such luck. The very friendly cashier ends up serving your dishes in containers at your table (though I felt bad taking her away from the line of paying / ordering customers). My key pricing issue was with the collard greens: A 2/3rds full small container was $6.50! It's barely there!...but also the finest greens I've ever had. The chicken and waffles: Delicious, unique, but pricey. Really: Those greens should be closer to $3.50 for the serving size. OK, I could gripe about the pricing but I surely can't gripe about the food quality. Remember to ask for more sauce with the chicken. Overall: Wow for those with higher credit limits. read more

Today I stopped in Beola's with my family for a Sunday lunch. We've seen it for a while and have always been curious about it. Well we came in, and it was a small place, a little crowded. There was an order counter with one man working it, who was very kind and helpful. Once it cleared up in there we were able to have a seat inside, and it was pretty much empty. There's outdoor seating, which was nice since it was warm. But we chose to say inside, and food came pretty quickly, within 10-15 minutes. The food was excellent, I got shrimp and potato salad, which was well seasoned and the salad was creamy. My husband got chicken and waffles, which was delicious, the waffles were high quality along with the syrup, and they had a little kick of cinnamon. My kids got the brisket sandwich and fries, which was the special, and delicious. There was a lot of sauce on the brisket, which was really nice. The fries were nicely seasoned, as was all the food. We also got Mac 'n cheese, which was creamy and delicious. They have red and blue kool-aid and lemonade, and some yummy homemade tasting sweet tea. We also got a side of cornbread, which was a little dry, but good. In the middle of our meal, the owner's mother came in and helped, who was very sweet. We learned the pasedena Roscoe's had recently closed and so was Maple house in upland so we figured give Beola's a try and from the moment we walked in the vibes were just off and the 2 men in front were not welcoming at all. But yet we remained friendly.
