I got chicken fried rice, chicken chow fun, and ordered chicken broccoli, but they gave me beef broccoli in error. We were looking for some Chinese food for Mother's Day. We first called Bamboo Garden. Someone answered the phone and said they were closed. Okay... time to formulate a plan B. The next call was to China Pepper. They said they were out of a few things and it would be about an hour to get a to-go order ready. Szechuan Garden in Montclair is always a good choice but no one felt like driving that far. I noticed Lotus Garden on Google Maps over in nearby Upland. I had passed by a few times and the name caught my eye because there used to be a Lotus Garden in San Bernardino. There's probably no connection however. Anyway... we placed a call to Lotus Garden and ordered Almond Chicken, Chicken in Black Bean Sauce, Beef with Snow Peas, and Chicken Fried Rice. We were told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. I headed out the door and arrived about 15-20 minutes later. Our order was waiting for me when I got there. I paid and was quickly on my way. I forgot to take a photo of the food in the containers but you can see a little of each on my plate here. It was really good. They did give us Shrimp Fried Rice instead of Chicken Friend Rice but no one seemed to mind. I think my favorite dish was the Chicken in Black Bean Sauce. June 29, 2023 ordered 5 star kung pow, combo fried rice and Wor wonton soup. $59 with tip and delivery charge and tax. The meat in the dishes was very difficult to chew and had no taste. Very disappointed after all these years their quality has diminished quite a bit. We will never returned there because this the second or third instance. WE ARE DONE! Now I remember why I hadn't reordered in a year. The egg rolls are greasy. The "fried rice" is just white rice with soy sauce. No fried rice. They have fried rice on their menu, egg fried rice and vegetable fried rice. Nowhere does it day you will just get steamed rice with soy sauce as your "fried rice". My son had the orange chicken. He said it was ok. We also ordered the cream cheese and crab fried wontons. These are his favorite at the other place. He didn't like them here. They also did not pack any silverware. Two stars as our dinner from Lotus Garden last night was edible - but far, VERY far, from being enjoyable. A bag of chips would have been far more tasty. We recently moved to Upland and are still trying to find businesses that deliver to our part of town, and it seems that the choices are pretty scarce. Lots of restaurant options nearby in the colonies area if you want to dine out, but it seems I'll have to do some cooking myself if we're in the mood to Netflix and chill. I ordered delivery from Lotus Garden last night. This place is about 4 miles away from our house, and they delivered within half hour which was surprising. At first I was excited for the quick turn around time, but immediately after looking at our delivery I could tell that all the items were probably sitting there all day as nothing looked fresh. Here is what we ordered: *Egg rolls - Two vegetable egg rolls which were super slimy inside and really oily outside. No actual flavor. *Chicken dumplings - These were pretty burnt. I just had a small bite and put it away as it just tasted like char and oil. *Combination Chowmein - Oily and flavorless, with grey looking meat bits. *Orange Chicken (half order)- Sweet dough balls that were possibly fried 12 hours ago and were now just a glazy mush. *Mongolian Beef (half order)- Watery and salty sauce. Meat wasn't tough but I could taste a raw flour after taste. Hard to explain, but this was the most edible dish. With tax, delivery fee, and tip, we spent $45.00. I ordered through Yelp, and requested the chowmein and the Mongolian beef to be "very spicy". I don't think they pay attention to any requests as all of our dishes were simply flavorless and were far from even having a hint of spice. Salt and oil seemed like the two main ingredients they use. I love supporting small businesses and were really hoping to find our new go-to Chinese delivery place. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing, and we would never eat here again. read more

If I go to a Mexican place for food I judge them on the most basic thing which is a taco, when I go to a Chinese place I will judge you on your fried rice at a minimal an this place failed big time. When your rice doesn't even have not 1 vegetable in it or let alone some small pieces of scrambled eggs that says alot right there alone about the rest of your selections. I told the guy this was my first time so I was thinking maybe the food would have been prepared alot better but I was wrong. Dry rice with no flavor whatsoever is not something anyone would want.
