Pho Ha Tien has replaced Pho King at the Colonies Crossroads in Upland earlier this year in 2025. I've tried Pho King once or twice and they were just okay. I wanted to check out this place in hopes they deliver better pho and more. Free parking at the Colonies. Inside space didn't change too much, but it is brighter than before. Outside patio seating is still available. Young lady staff was pleasant and personable. She spoke English and Vietnamese. I was so impressed when I heard her also speak Spanish. So cool! Menu was massive with so much variety almost like Vietnamese with a fusion of American and Thai... page after page. You'll know what I mean when you check out my photos. It was hard to decide what to get. My youngest daughter and I usually go for our go-tos. She got the Grilled pork with vermicelli. She loved the tasty grilled pork and the pickled veggies! And it was her first time trying it with vermicelli. I got the Large Pho Ga (chicken) and Shrimp patty wrapped in tofu with thin rice vermicelli (yes, I had to get two items!) LOL. My pho chicken had lots of shredded chicken (a tad dry unfortunately) and noodles. The soup could be more flavorful and savory. As for my other item, I couldn't eat it here so I took it to-go. Veggies were very fresh, but I wished they gave the same number of green leaf as there are of the thin rice vermicelli. I had vermicelli left, but no green leaf. Anyway, no biggie. Shrimp wrapped tofu skin was decent. It didn't have deep shrimp flavor though. I have had better. Overall, they did not disappoint. Food was good. Portions were fair for the price. Craving pho on this rainy night. This restaurant had 4.7 rating on Google Maps. So glad we stopped to try this place! Staff greeted and sat us right away. Food came out fast and fresh. This Vietnamese beef stew was . The seasoning and noodles were perfectly balanced and complement each other, super flavorful but not too heavy. The beef was crazy tender and literally fell apart. Definitely will never return here. My husband came here with a friend earlier today and he was supposed to bring me home some pho but I was shocked to find out why he came home empty handed. He explained that while in this restaurant he was explaining to his friend the differences between different Asian cuisines since it was his friend's first time trying Vietnamese food. He was using words to describe different foods such as spices, flavor, and "rich". Somehow the server misunderstood this conversation and thought my husband was saying something offensive. She abruptly confronted him and accused him of being the "R" word (can't use that word on here). Him and his friend were shocked and the rest of the experience was extremely uncomfortable. I'm surprised they even stayed because I would have just walked out after an accusation so bold. He had ordered me a bowl to go and she never brought it to him. This server was embarrassingly ignorant. And for future reference, words can have more than one meaning. It is beyond unprofessional to make assumptions like this and accuse paying customers. Unfortunately, this experience has permanently lost my business, and I will not be recommending this restaurant to friends or family. I brought a friend here for his first pho experience and was explaining the differences between various Asian noodle soups--specifically how Vietnamese pho differs from Japanese ramen and Thai noodle dishes. I was discussing cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles, noting that pho tends to have a more earthy broth made with spices like star anise, fennel, and cloves, while some Japanese broths can be "richer" due to different preparation methods. Which she assumed I meant "rich" in equality - which is my best guess as I tried to reflect on where I went wrong? What I said and how I may have said it. This was the only thing I can think of, and my friend said I didn't say ANYTHING racist or offensive. For those with limited vocabulary: Richer flavors refer to a deep, intense, and complex taste profile that enhances the overall sensory experience of food. During this conversation, our waitress approached the table to take our order and said, "Are you going to keep listening to your racist friend or place your order?" I was completely stunned. At no point was anything offensive, derogatory, or racist said. I was discussing cuisine from a place of admiration and genuine interest. Being accused of racism so aggressively and publicly--without any attempt to understand the context--completely ruined the experience. When I tried to calmly explain myself, the waitress doubled down and even stated that "she can be racist because she is Asian," which was shocking and deeply inappropriate. This interaction was unprofessional, confrontational, and unacceptable. Instead of providing hospitality, the staff member made assumptions and escalated a situation that never should have existed. I hope management takes this seriously, as no customer should be spoken to this way based on assumptions alone. Sadly, this visit ensured that neither I nor my friends will be returning. Did not know that Pho King changed to this. Give it a try anyways and was not as good for sure. Oxtail is very touch and meat tastes old. Shrimp wonton filling is also old and not crispy at all. I came there by myself and I had 1 order 3-4 in group customer that came there after me who just seated have there food serve to them immediately and the Waitress who took my order did not even bother asking me about following up for my order. Not till i showed my visual frustration of waiting for my food that one of the waitress finally realized that i had been seating there for long waiting for my order. when its time to pay the lady apologize and sort of made an excuse of how they notice that i was waiting for my food but not till i made them notice that i was still waiting for my order.
