Honestly a bit disappointed- if you are coming specifically for happy hour I would skip. This was their wine pour. I asked how big/how many ounces their pours are and they responded with "I don't know we're just supposed to pour below half the glass and we do less for happy hour." And it wasn't mentioned on their happy hour menu that their pours would be smaller than their already non-existent pour. SMH

The old belly was feeling a bit neglected and I was in the mood for a Bento lunch and lo and behold, I look up and I'm at Bento Teppanyaki. I entered and was warmly greeted and if I was dining-in, I could choose a table. The contemporary decor was quite pleasant and inviting. This venue is Asian Fusion with Chinese and Japanese dishes. I ordered the Bento Box that one builds from a choice of entrees, appetizers, rice, and soups. I selected the Teriyaki Shrimp, 2 fried Spring Rolls for my appetizer, white rice and Egg Drop soup. Diana, my server, who was excellent, advised that the Shrimp Teriyaki had mushrooms and onions which I didn't mind at all. And for digestive purposes only, I had a Kirin Ichiban lager. I definitely plan on returning to check out some delectable delights that I eyeballed on the menu.

The service was good. Our waitress was attentive even though they were busy and were timely about everything we needed. The place looked okay, it looks like a topical Asian restaurant. What it was lacking in style, it over compensated with smell. You could smell the food as soon as you walk in. The food was great. The price for their bento deal is good comes with a soup, entree, and two side. The entrees we got were sweet & sour chicken, chicken and broccoli, and general Cho chicken. All good general Cho had a little kick , sweet & sour was tasty, broccoli and chicken a great substitute for beef.

Ordered takeout from here, the food was delicious & fresh. We each got a bento box, I love that we were able to customize the box as we wanted. The fried rice & chicken chow mein were excellent, really enjoyed the broccoli chicken & pork dumplings. We did not care for the egg drop soup, the crunchy wontons were stale.

My go to is the Bento box or chicken chow mein, and you know how when you get in the car you can smell the food well this is on another level. The food here is delicious! The portions on any of the dishes are pretty generous. They have vegetarian entrees and sides, like the cheese puffs yum! I just met Shane but this place always feels like your friend's house you get invited to for a good meal.

Bento Teppanyaki is in a newer strip mall in Meuller off of Barbara Jordon Blvd. Lots of cool shops and restaurants in the area. This was a bright and cheerful Asian restaurant that offers a make your own bento box option. You pick an entree, an appetizer, a soup, egg roll, etc and your lunch comes in a nice bento box presentation. Everything was tastyand the service was prompt. They also offer lunch specials but the bento box option is recommended. Give it a try

What a joy this place was to eat. The box comprised of delectable meat. The sushi such a wonderful treat. The service was fantastical from the greet. Our sever "Xm" was so very sweet!

Bento box with Hunan Chicken

I was a little frustrated with this spot because although they have a Japanese name, the food is entirely Chinese. Nevertheless, I ordered the Hunan Chicken in a bento box to give it a try and it was fine. A little too salty and lacking depth in flavor, but enjoyable. The noodles were pretty greasy and the rest of the accompaniments were not memorable. The restaurant is cute and in a great location so I expected more, but it's not any better than your run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant. One thing that I will say was great was the service. It was not very busy when we visited, so our server was very attentive. He took our orders quickly, was kind and helpful in describing dishes to guests in my party, and made sure we had everything we needed.

Bento lunch includes: Egg Drop Soup, Orange Chicken, Vegetable Dumplings, rice, the ever-present red sauce, and crispy noodles.

THE STAFF IS SO LOVELY! This place reminded me of eating Chinese food with my grandparents in the best possible way. They liked to eat the old standbys in a familiar, friendly setting. You know: those crunchy noodles in comforting soup, sweet and sour crispy fish or chicken, that sweet red sauce, egg rolls, etc. The price is right, and the nostalgia is real.

Veggie bento box!!

I went here right before Thanksgiving! It is fairly new so I wanted to try. The menu has many vegetarian options which was nice. I got the veggie bento which had soup, rice, tofu and dumplings. They were all so good! I think next time I will try the other tofu option as they had a variety. The soups was also very good! I would totally come here just to get some of the soup on a cold day. Service here was nice. The waiter was super helpful with the menu and nice in general even though he was busy. I also thought the ambiance was cute. I will definitely go here again with my husband since there are multiple vegetarian and non vegetarian options!

Another night with Bento Teppanyaki, and it did not disappoint! My boyfriend and I didn't feel like cooking, so naturally, we placed an order here. My go-to is the chow mein, and his is always general tso. We got two rolls of sushi, which were delicious. We placed the order online and it was ready within 15 min, which gave us enough time to get ready and go pick it up. Service was fast and friendly. We will be back!

This isn't necessarily an every-week dinner for us price-wise--hibachi can definitely be a splurge--but if we could justify going every week, we absolutely would. It is hands-down some of the best hibachi I've ever had. And hibachi seems simple enough: great meat, fried rice, fresh vegetables, sauces. But when it's done REALLY well, apparently there is a huge difference, because Japon has completely ruined mediocre hibachi for me. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, the meat is always cooked beautifully, the vegetables are perfect, the rice is ridiculous, and I could probably consume an irresponsible amount of their sauces. The food is actually so good that it inspired me to start buying fresh vegetables, good meat, rice, yum yum sauce and sriracha and making my own little version at home. It isn't Japon, obviously, but that's how much we love this food. What really deserves recognition, though, is their consistency. We've visited both locations, they've been absolutely SLAMMED, and somehow the service is still exceptional. We've never sat around forever waiting to be acknowledged or wondering where our server went. The staff is attentive, friendly and efficient every single time we've gone. The atmosphere at both locations is beautiful and lively, and of course there's the whole experience of watching your meal prepared right in front of you. Even the little details make it feel like a complete dining experience--from sitting down with a cold Topo Chico and fresh lemon to the little orange treat at the end. It's one of those restaurants where you leave already thinking about the next time you can justify going back. Yes, dinner for two can turn into a splurge. But we've never walked out feeling like the experience wasn't worth it. The quality of the food, atmosphere and consistently excellent service keeps us coming back. If you're craving hibachi in Austin, Sushi Japon is absolutely worth trying. Both locations have been fantastic for us. 10/10. If my budget had its way, we'd be regulars. If my stomach had its way, we'd live there.

The inside looks run down and dirty as well. The timing and service were completely off. After all the food was already served and we had started eating, they finally asked if we wanted sauce. Zero attention to detail or basic hibachi restaurant etiquette. The lobster was rubbery, the steak was tough and hard to chew, and honestly everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Complete waste of money. You're better off going to Panda Express , it's cheaper and honestly tastes 10x better.

Mini Sushi Tacos (2pc) -- Very delicious twist on the traditional taco! It was the perfect ratio of rice, fish, and avocado, and the crispy sushi shell worked perfectly! I wish they were bigger though haha. The stars of the show were definitely the Wagyu Land & Sea Sushi Roll and their infamous Uni Pasta. The Wagyu was very tender (almost melted in the mouth) and it felt like eating a "Surf & Turf" but on a roll! As for the pasta, WOW! The poached egg made the pasta extra creamy and the sea urchin and truffle flavors complimented each other so well. I'm so glad they waited to serve us this dish at the very end -- couldn't have ended the experience in a better way! We ordered their tuna poke appetizer, trio roll, austin FC roll, and the matcha maker drink. Matcha Maker was a whiskey drink, tasted pretty fruity and was actually delicious. The whiskey taste comes later. The tuna poke was good, it came with 5-6 chunks of raw tuna with some avocados, which sat on top of some seaweed salad, and had 5 pieces of tortilla chips to pair with. The trio roll and austin fc roll were both delicious. The trio roll had no flavor, as it had 3 different sashimis, but was perfect with soy sauce and wasabi. The austin fc roll came with eel sauce and their house sauce, it was good on it's own. We were starving by the time the food came, since it did take a while as it was crowded.....like every seat in the house was taken! Dinner is izakaya style which is basically tapas or smaller/shareable plates vs entree style dishes. Lunch menu has more options, including bento boxes which we'll have to try next time! Our server was attentive and nice. Overall, definitely recommend. It is more on the pricier side, but it is worth it. Only thing I would do different is bringing a jacket. We came when there was that odd storm and it was freezing inside the restaurant.

This is a great celebration place, as the grill/table seats 8-10 people. They make a big deal out of special occasions--they've banged a gong and had us pose with a katana for a birthday picture. All hibachi entrees are cooked on the grill in front of you. There are several proteins to choose from: chicken, scallops, shrimp, lobster, and various cuts of beef. The dinner entrees also include soup, salad, mixed vegetables, and two shrimp. Upgrade your rice to fried rice for an additional charge--must not miss. There is also a 10 and under kids menu with generous portions and great prices. Generally, there are three chefs that rotate amongst the tables. They each put on a show--flipping and tossing utensils and one of the chefs adds quite a bit of comedy and another level of skill. They also have everyone try to catch bits of shrimp that are launched through the air. Unfortunately, one of the chefs, who has been there for years, comes across as disinterested and, to make it worse, he doesn't season the food very much, so it comes out bland. That being said, recommend.

The prices are certainly not on the "all you can eat" sushi restaurant scale, but you are paying premium for premium. On this visit, we arrived during their happy hour. Do check out their HH menu; it is more than generous. I'm not going to bore you with our selections, but the sushi is so tender and fresh that you are insulting the chef and the fish by adding soy sauce and wasabi! If you're sitting in the dining area, they won't honor the same promotion, even though it's the exact same restaurant and the appetizer is normally $9. I've been allowed to order the $5 appetizer from the dining area before, so being told tonight that it was suddenly not allowed--and having an argument with the waiter over it--was extremely frustrating. What makes this even more ridiculous is that we regularly come here and spend around $200 for four people. We've been repeat customers, and you would think there would be some common sense and consideration when dealing with a regular customer over a $4 appetizer. I understand having different promotions for different areas, but this feels like a silly, unnecessarily rigid policy, especially when the distinction isn't particularly clear. The $4 difference isn't the issue--it's the principle and how the situation was handled. Unfortunately, over this experience and the way it was handled, we will not be coming back. Losing regular customers who routinely spend $200+ over a $4 appetizer seems like a pretty poor business decision.
