For a menu that's a little all over the place (I mean that in the best way possible; Loco Moco *and* Chilaquiles on one menu is diabolical), every single dish we ordered was prepared just right. If you care about your waistline, do not get the Umami Fries with curried ketchup; that pile of deliciousness will have you addicted like a fiend with its tangy, savory flavoring. Deviled Eggs were standard, if not for the hint of kimchi. I didn't try the Chicken & Waffles or BLT my table ordered. I ate my fair share of Lemon Butter Prawns; a side comes with six pieces & trust me, you won't want to share. The Loco Moco was incredible -- earthy mushroom gravy over sticky sushi rice and a chuck & brisket patty. Topped with an egg (made over medium like I requested) & finished with a side of arugula salad (my favorite greens) & I was full for days (just kidding, hours.) We ordered a lightly-dressed Caesar Salad with avocado just to cleanse our palates from all the rich textures & flavors. I'll be back for dinner STAT, so please save me a seat.

I would've liked them cooked just a bit more but the waitress did state that they are lightly cooked. Overall excellent dish COCONUT FRITTERS The salmon was fresh and the fritter was perfectly cooked. If you like coconut, this a great dish. HAND CUT GOLDEN SESAME NOODLES This was me and my wifes favorite dish, no notes. SWORDFISH, "KATSU-STYLE" I have never really liked swordfish but being the most popular dish, we had to order. It was perfectly cooked, the fish was moist and juicy and the karashi butter had a really nice combo of sweetness, tartness and fattiness. 5/5 - cant wait to come back and try some other menu items

When I first made the reservation on Open table it allowed me to ask questions.. For each question, I received a personal response immediately from Mickey. He made me feel like I was asking my friend. When I arrived, I saw this tall, striking host walking to hep me. I asked his name, it was Mickey. We exchanged warm greetings, then he showed us to the Chefs Counter. We started chatting like new friends I asked about the chef. He informed me that Chef Scott Nishiyama, has a distinguished fine-dining pedigree, having worked at renowned restaurants including Daniel in New York and The French Laundry in Yountville. Also he previously earned a Michelin star as the executive chef of Chez TJ in Mountain View. I told Mickey I'd love to meet him since I was friends with Daniel. "Of course" he said, and a minute later I'm shaking hands with Scott. I was impressed with his humble, sweet demeanor. And then the food, Stephen, our friendly informative waiter gave us suggestions from the menu - I had no idea snap peas could taste that great. Shrimp was better than Spain. My husband loved the scallop tar tar- not my usual taste but enjoyed watching him love it. We saw a pork chop dish being prepared which looked great so added that to our dinner. Again fabulous. It was wonderful watching how the cooks cared about each dish, plus enjoyed seeing a lovely camaraderie and sincerity from everyone. This is a Restaurant that we will make our home away from home whenever we eat out. That's what I look for in a restaurant with great food. Thank you to everyone at Ethel's Fancy. I will be seeing you soon.. Fondly, Stephanie Herman

We ordered cocktails "Flying Ace" and "Cielo Rosa", Forager Flatbread, and Roasted Beet Salad, and cheese plate. The cocktails were fun and inventive, but maybe a bit too complex for us. The Flying Ace was a smoky old fashioned type drink with a charred cinnamon stick. Maybe the wrong choice for a sunny afternoon outdoor venue. The Cielo Rosa, with mezcal and jalapeño has a lot going on as well. The forager had great mushroom flavor and loved the roasted garlic. The first bites were great- wish they could have kept the crust crispier for later bites. (Heated plate works well) The beet salad was really good. The crushed pistachios really contrasted well with the beets.

The dishes I tried were just underwhelming and did not justify the price point, not even bakery. There is a strange mismatch between the location/ambiance and food. I mostly just stick to the coffee right now. Bonus point for getting to test robot delivery. :D

Sherry Braised Pork Shank - The meat was tender and easily pulled off the bone, and the polenta it came with was rich and perfectly creamy. Smoked Salmon & Caviar - A bit too salty for my taste, so this one didn't quite hit compared to the others. The meat dishes were definitely worth it, especially with the generous portions. Overall, a good dinner option if you're in the area or staying nearby -- not necessarily a destination spot, but an easy choice.

Unfortunately, we left regretting that decision. From the start, the experience felt unwelcoming when we were seated with our 3-year-old daughter. There was no single overtly disrespectful moment, but the overall tone and repeated small interactions made us feel like we were being judged for having a child with us. At one point, when our daughter accidentally dropped her fork while playing, the reaction we received came across as frustration, which added to that feeling. We understand not every restaurant is designed for young children, but Broma presents itself as a place for friends and family. Instead, we felt like we had to constantly manage and overcorrect normal toddler behavior, which created stress and took away from what should have been a special occasion. Because of that, we didn't feel comfortable raising concerns during the meal when the server checked in--we were more focused on getting through the experience without drawing additional attention. We were also offered an off-menu item without any mention of price. The menu we were given did not list the smash burger, so when I ordered a double, I had no context for the cost. The final price was a surprise, and we would have made a different decision with that information upfront. The food itself did not match the price point. The "smash burger" was not prepared in the style typically expected, and overall the meal felt underwhelming for the cost. Lastly, the billing was confusing. The paper receipt listed "gratuity," while the digital receipt labeled the same charge as a "service charge," making it unclear whether an additional tip was expected. That lack of clarity does not align with the level of transparency expected at this price point. We don't mind paying for a great experience, especially for meaningful occasions, but this visit did not meet that standard and ultimately left us regretting our choice to celebrate here.

Could not stop eating it. $17 8/5 Mezze plate - the coconut feta was very creamy and good, I really enjoyed the pomegranate arugula salad with pickled onion and with the pieces of falafel inside. The flatbread was a little hard, but good. The eggplant was good and hummus also good. $32 price a little steep for the platter 6/5 Impossible cheeseburger - classic impossible burger. The standout item was the fries, quite good! Crisp outside and soft inside. 5/5 French toast - ok, a little dry, the berry sauce was good but lacking a little dynamic flavor maybe some citrus? 3/5 Cookie with vegan ice cream. Alas, pastries are still difficult to make well vegan 3/5 Service was a little distracted and hard to order. Bussing was very on top of it. I will return for the top items

Filament bulbs in industrial light fixtures, cool glassware, bar seating at the front that looks onto the street - it's just a cool vibe. (But like pretty much everything else in Sunnyvale it closes at 9:30 or 10pm.) Came here in a big group and ordered a decent chunk of the whole menu. Interestingly, the winners were all items from the appetizer section: ahi tuna tartare, calamari, mac n cheese, crab cakes. But the entrees were a bit more "standard" - the "Shepards pie" and CTM were just OK. Maybe the CTM would be more enjoyable for a traditionalist but given the Oxford's branding I expected the fusion version with a really rich thick sauce. One of the cocktails was also great (though I forget the name), and they had two classic English beers on tap - Fuller's London Pride and Old Speckled Hen. If you know anything about the beers across the pond these you know you want these. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the apps!

I thought the menu sounded pretty good, albeit a bit pricy but what isn't these days? Unfortunately, we really wanted to like this place but it was not great and we won't be back. We were seated and took a few minutes to look over everything and then ordered two apps and two cocktails. The crab cakes were tasty although we both had hoped they would be crispy on the outside, but were instead very mushy. The fried mac and cheese balls were good, nothing special, I've definitely had better but we still enjoyed them. Her French 77 was good enough to order a second and my Purple Fizz was good, nothing to write home about. We ordered our food about halfway through the apps and it took a really long time. There were only three other tables on a Wednesday night and it still took about 40 minutes for two entrees. I got the fish and chips and was very disappointed. They looked like they'd be crispy but they were quite soggy and the fish was odd, it didn't seem like your typical cod and was bland in flavor. The fries were definitely frozen prior to cooking and tasted like you'd expect frozen fries to taste. My best friend ordered the chicken tikka and, while the sauce was very good, the rest was pretty mid. The chicken was chunked WAY too big which made it hard to eat unless it was sized smaller and the rice was dry and hard. I ordered an NA cocktail and couldn't enjoy it, though the flavor was good, because the glass smelled like dirty moldy wet sponge and was overwhelming the flavors. Overall, for the price of everything ($210 for two people), we were severely disappointed and wouldn't recommend this place. We would've spoken to the waitress but considering how little she checked in with us and how long our food took, we didn't bother. It truly seems like they care about the aesthetic and advertising it as an English Gastropub more than the actual food itself. I'd consider elsewhere if this was on your list. There's better food for less cost nearby.
