The worst service ever the waiters overcharged us then my credit card was charged three times . The manager is not professional and i still haven't received an apology about charging my credit card three times . I don't recommend this place at all because of the manager and the staff . read more

we came to celebrate nurses week to tonight. We enjoyed the people at our tables but the food was pretty salty. the worst part was the BATHROOM! !!! urine on the floor. 2 toilets over flowing. ... DISGUSTING AND RUINED OUR EXPERIENCE! WE WILL NOT BE BACK! read more

The atmosphere was amazing. I really enjoyed the live cooking. The found was okay not up to the standard excepted. The shine of this place is the chef. From throwing a knife around and controlling A table to ceiling fire a trip to Benihana it's worth it for the experience but not for the foo. read more

Don't bother eating here until the heat wave passes. The restaurant has an air conditioning problem that could not be resolved. We were literally sweating in our seats even before the chef turned the grill on. The waiter told us they were trying to fix it. The manager said it was on and basically thats as good as it gets. Very hot & uncomfortable dinning experience. read more

Manager is a sleazy guy and was not helpful at all. The waiter even asked the manager if he should charge our group for the free birthday ice cream we got for our table. This is by far the worst customer service I have experienced at a restaurant as the manager made absolutely no attempt to even acknowledge our complaint. On top of that, our group of 10 were there to celebrate a friend's birthday party. The only enjoyable experience was seeing Chef Antonio cook for us who was very friendly. Their corporate phone number is 305-594-2732 if you need to make a complaint. Search through the all the yelp reviews here with the keyword "manager" and you'll find how bad their customer service is: yelp.com/biz/benihana-edison?q=Manager If you want to be charged for extra fees that are NOT listed in their menu, then Benihana's in Edison is the best place to get ripped off. read more

The manager is Racist. Do not go here! I had a horrible experience here. They asked my family to change our seat because the family next to us said they don't like BLACK people and we were too loud. We had only been seated for 10 mins. We were not loud and quite frankly don't request to sit at the hibachi bar if your looking for dinner at the library . The manager requested to move us all the way to the back! What a disgrace! read more

I've been to a bunch of Habachi restaurants in the tri-state area, including Benihana Midtown, Airirang Rt 9, and Teppan Jersey City; and I must say, this one blew them all out of the water. The hibachi chef we had not only was a good showman, but he was communicative and funny. He even explained to the children of our party (who were obviously fascinated) what he was doing, the poor guy had to answer about 100 questions. For the adults in the group, while the hibachi was great (I grade hibachi on Filet + Scallops combo- can't fake that) I was really impressed with the sushi and sashimi we ordered. The tuna toro, salmon, and signature rolls had incredibly fresh fish and were on point presentation and overall taste-wise. So much so that I would actually go back just for the sushi alone. Overall it was an excellent experience, even on a busy Saturday night they really made our group feel special. read more

I've come here more than a few times. Living in the area has it perks and this proximity to the mall is great. Brief Summary -- You're paying for the experience -- Get a reservation if its Friday or Saturday night -- Sign up for their online newsletter and get a $30 coupon for your bday! Ok so I'm a fan of Benihana. I've been here more than a few times and I've almost always enjoyed it. It's something you should definitely experience at least once in your life time. And for those people who have never been, be patient and expect a little wait. The dinner is much more of a performance as chefs make all of your food in front of you and others. All the service Gloria (Manager I think) provided was EXCELLENT. She was very attentive for all that she was juggling and always filled my water glass. I guess I was really thirsty because she was almost always filling it up. The GF ordered a half roll of Shrimp Lover's or something like that. . She liked it. It was pretty simple. Just shrimp and avocado. All of the Benihana's entrees include soup, salad, shrimp, veggies, rice and your main item. -- I like the Onion soup. I love the mushrooms and it's very light -- The salad comes with a ginger type dressing and isn't the best salad I've ever had but it's tasty and fresh. -- I always upgrade my steamed rice to the chicken fried rice. Depending on your preference, you can choose. There is a small extra charge. -- I always order Rocky's Choice and upgrade to Filet mignon. Medium please and it's delicious. It also comes with Chicken which is great. You get some onions, zucchini, and mushrooms. All of it is grilled hot and fresh. It also comes with your choice of ice cream :) I had a great time with the GF. The whole performance was great, we got our food pretty quick and were out of Benihana in about an hour and fifteen minutes. Not too bad for a Friday night. If you have a special occasion, book in advance and try to go for lunch or dinner after a mall visit read more

Stopped by last night for dinner decent sushi but hibachi table chef just lite everything on fire literally everything was over cooked chicken salmon when dinner for 3 costs more than 135 they have to have come quality measures in hiring and retaining some real talented chefs this is a hit and miss location at best I come here often in this area and this was a second bad trip read more

This is one of many hibachi places that I've been to.. it's all the same, but we got seated pretty quickly... the sauces were good, and so was the steak and shrimp entree that I ordered. read more

I went to Benihana this afternoon. The wait was over an hour. When we were seated, we were offered lunch menu but after we ordered we were told that we were going to have to pay dinner prices because by the time the chef showed up it was passed lunch hours. The service was bad. Eventually, the manager had to take over our table. The food comparing to other Hibachi restaurants and especially comparing to Benihana in NYC is significantly worse. read more

I am surprised at all the bad reviews. I had their Las Vegas roll and it was great. Friendly staff at the bar. My friend recommended we come here so I know that she likes the place. Prices were reasonable . Wasn't crazy about the fish bowl drink... I like them strong. read more

Awesome experience. Food was really good. Kind of pricey but the waiter and our cooks were really funny and nice.

What on earth happened to this place? Went there with my sister. Put our name in and said we would wait at the bar. A couple came in behind us. After about 15 minutes I see the couple who came in behind us getting seated. I ask the host why we weren't seated and he said he called my name but I didn't come. The restaurant was packed and loud so we didn't hear him. I complain to the manager who the proceeds to sit us at an empty table and we sit there until the table is full before we order. It is now an hour later. When the chef finally comes the couple that came in after us are leaving Food was Okay at best and none of the chefs appear to be actual hibachi chefs. They just as well could be short order cooks at a diner. And to top it off it's very expensive. Need to find a better hibachi place read more

My son has a lot of food allergies and they double checked everything for us and we're very accommodating. Good performance and good food. We would go again. read more

Food is delicious.. Staff is very friendly and the manager Steve was so polite and helpful.. Definitely recommend this place...

Starting with when we walked in, it took about 10 minutes before we were greeted & when someone finally greeted us at the door it was a very somber hello . After waiting to long to be seated we decided not to be seated at the hibachi table because we knew that would take alot longer. Our waitress came out took our orders and we pretty much never saw her again. The place was extremely hot like we were eating at a bbq When food finally came it was surprisingly good but service was slow, the place was very hot and the waitress was no where to be found. Won't return to this location read more

This Edison NJ Benihana sucks. Horrible service OMG. Got seated at the hibachi table at 9:20. Took a total hour to receive my drinks & damn soup. That is ridiculous. Never ever coming to this Benihana ever again. The one in short hills is much better. Beware not good service. read more

Don't waste your money here. Very disappointed, went here for my daughter's 8th birthday. Always go to Arirang figured we would try something different. Experience was terrible. Chef for hibachi lacks any personality just cooks. Waited longer for food, table seemed smaller. Food is soaked in butter. For birthday - the main reason we went. They just brought kids ice cream that came will meal. Had to request a candle. No picture- even though we asked prior to eating. Spoke with manager didn't really care. read more

Came here a couple weeks ago for a friend's birthday. We waited at the bar and had some drinks while we waited for the rest of our party of twelve to arrive. The bartenders were friendly, and the drinks were great. We came for hibachi. Our chef was awesome and entertaining. We ordered a ton of food, and we were very happy with everything. It was almost too much - so many leftovers! After dinner was finished, the staff came out and sang happy birthday for our friend. It really was a great experience, and we will definitely be back for more! read more

Came here with three friends for dinner Monday night. Had such an enjoyable experience, was made comfortable and were taken such good care of by the bartender. He was very attentive (even changed the tv channel for us to the Yankee game!) knew about the food and drink and could fill us in on all questions that we had. In the end I had two glasses of Merlot and the hibachi steak at recommendation the guys and it did not disappoint! I will definitely be coming back as their cocktail list looks intriguing and some of the cocktails they were making looked yummy!!! Their sushi menu and some of their seafood hibachi sounds delicious! I think I will be coming back multiple times to try everything here! The icing on the cake was the attentiveness of the staff. From the moment we walked in we were taken care of and were looked after so well! Great experience and my new favorite hot spot! read more

Sadly my boys and I eat here often; at least once per month, but more like twice a month. Our favorite chefs are Felipe, Julio, and Manualito (in that order). And the best server is Amaya T. She's always so friendly and prompt, refilling drinks and such. We will continue to come here, just maybe not as frequently, lol read more

Was there on a Saturday with a large group of 8 and had a whole entire table to ourselves. We had a 8pm reservation and were told it would still be a 40 min wait. We were finally seated but had already waited 1 hour and we still did not have any food served to us yet. The drinks were so so weak my friend sent his back. I also tried to send mine back and was told my drink was supposed to be sweet. My Mojito tasted like pure sugar and water. I did not reorder a second drink and neither did a few others. It just wasn't worth it to pay for another round of watered down drinks. Our chef who cooked our food was excellent and put on a great show. It's just too bad about the drinks and wait time. Our bill was $500+. Would not go back there again. read more

Total scam! Said drinks were half off, they really charged us full price. Ordered a full Boston roll and never got it. We told our waiter (the third of the night) and he said no problem. Turns out he said well it was put in you must have gotten it. Tried to tell him we didn't and he shrugged us off. They had the nerve to charge us $12 for what they claim they gave us but never did! Total rip off!! read more

Well, I guess this was my last dinner at Benihana. It used to be fun - sometimes Hibachi and the show; sometimes sushi and the quieter room. Fun birthdays, souvenir photo, good food. But not this time. I don't know if the management or policies or staff changed, but we went last month for my birthday and sat at a table for almost 45 minutes with just water and tea until we could even get someone's attention to take our order. Finally we ordered and eventually got [lukewarm] soup and our salads. Then we waited even longer - another 40 min for the sushi entree, then about a half hour after that for the other entrees. All this time anyone we asked kept saying 'it's coming right out'. Meanwhile the other customers came, ate, and left. Was it worth it? The sushi was good, but the hibachi dinners (ordered cooked, since we were at the table area) were overcooked, tough, with soggy vegetables. The entrees were bland while the fried rice was overcome by onions. Not a pleasant mix. The manager apologized and said he couldn't offer anything except 15 off. We said ok, then saw what he meant - he gave us coupons for 15% off our next visit. We left the coupons on the table. We won't be needing them.. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! It's HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! And they don't care about the people who give them business! My food was cold and they said they could microwave it for me if they wanted. I'm so pissed. Been here since 5pm and it's now 8:30 and I'm leaving without haven even eaten. I will indeed be calling and sending letters to corporate. Both managers that I spoke to were extremely unapologetic. I suggest going to a different location. read more

Blah, nothing special and overpriced to top that. I was in the Menlo Park area and debated between Benihana's and Cheesecake factory. I went with the former, and I'm so disappointed. I went around 8pm, gave my name to the hostess and was told about ~50 minute wait. I sat down and waited for around 20 minutes and my name was called along with others. We sat at our table and proceeded to wait ... and wait... and wait SOME MORE. It took 30 minutes to get our drink orders put in and delivered, and another 10 for the soup and salad. Finally, after everyone finished their soup and salad we played the waiting game for another 20 minutes until the chef showed up. Never was I seated at a teppanyaki table, and I had to wait almost an hour for the chef to show up. I only gave this review 2 stars because the food was tasty and I didn't have any issues with it. I ordered a chicken yakisoba and my boyfriend ordered the surf side. I recommend the Chicken Hibachi rice, it was delicious! Our chef was funny and did a few tricks (none that I haven't seen before). Benihana's is somewhat worth it if you go as a family for the kids, but this is not a place to take your date. Its hectic, loud, and by the time the food arrives you're chewing on your napkin because you're THAT HUNGRY. read more
