I came to Bistro 1051 with a large group for dinner. They accommodated us easily and everyone easily found what they wanted on the menu. I think this is the first place with mostly Italian food on the menu that also has a pretty extensive sushi menu. They had a skirt steak special that was calling my name. I'm a sucker for chimichurri so when I saw it was included I was sold. The steak was SO tender and flavorful and the chimichurri was perfectly herby and acidic. It came with mashed potatoes and garlic which were also very good. We shared the broccoli rabe and sausage flatbread and the margarita flatbread which were both delicious. We ordered fried Oreos for dessert and they came out warm and crisp. I hate when they are soggy and these were perfect. Our waitress was attentive without being overbearing and very easy to talk to and ask questions. We enjoyed talking to her and getting her opinion of various dishes.

Convenient neighborhood strip mall eatery for family and group gatherings as the menu is massive and has enough options to satisfy the pickiest diner. Pleasant service with staff that know the menu well. Portions are healthy to the point of each dish being large enough to serve more than one person "en famiglia." Side dishes are the size of mains one might expect in any other restaurant. This is great for my family who could take their eating on the road and go pro.

My last visit was in 2010! I chose a revisit with my sister and it did not disappoint. Service was good and food was excellent. There are enough choices, including their sushi menu. We had edamame, eggplant tower, prosciutto & cheese flatbread, and crab/avocado tower- all very good. BYOB and if you forget your bottle, there is a nice wine/liquor store within the same parking lot. A good stop in Clark.

I searched high and low for a restaurant with reasonable prices to host a group of 20 and I found it in Bistro 1051! We had enough space and privacy, the servers were great, the food was delicious, portions were large and the menu was varied. Highly recommend, esp. for anyone dining with a large group!

I had my daughter's baby shower here today and it could not have been any better. The food was fantastic. The service was top-notch. Everything from the day I booked it up to today was seamless. Can't wait to go back for dinner. Thank you for taking such good care of us all today. We will be back!

4 stars for lunch, 3 for dinner. Lovely spot for lunch in Clark, NJ with a nice enough atmosphere for a business meeting or outing with friends. We ordered the flounder oreganata, which was lemony, fresh and had very tasty bread crumbs. Also ordered was the grilled chicken salad. The chicken was a high quality and very tasty. Both portions were generous and the waitress was lovely. I enjoyed lunch so much we returned for dinner. The seafood pasta was enjoyed, as was the veal saltimboca (my family wasn't as picky as I) but the stuffed shrimp was more breading than crab meat filling and the shrimp had an iodine taste. The waitress also kept coming over and interrupting people while they were chatting, which made the evening less enjoyable than it could've been. This didn't happen at lunch so it was waitress specific. All in all, I'll return for lunch and would happily have the flounder or salad but I'd skip the shrimp.

We've been here about 15 times. I like that there are myriad options for meals here. If I'm craving sushi but my wife wants an Italian-inspired salad, we're both happy with what's on the menu here @1051. Michael the owner is always visible & circulating around the restaurant. You can tell he cares about his place & the customers. It does get very loud in here as the acoustics appear to be amplified off the walls or glass ceiling. The food was very good & fresh. Some updating is needed with the tables as they are showing signs of excessive wear & there needs to be more care in making sure that the plates & utensils are up to Michael's level of cleanliness expectations. Jaclyn our waitress was responsive & courteous without being pushy. Everything food wise was as ordered. Always parking available in the lot. Love that it's still BYOB. This place always brings back memories of the Rice Bowl of my youth We'll be back because there's always something new I want to try here.

I'd say we were successful in that regard, and this is probably one of the top two places I've been now in town, along with Garlic Rose. Even if you didn't have access to the menu, this just LOOKS like an upper-class steakhouse - lots of darker interior colors with deliberate use of lighting almost like the aisles in a movie theater. We did the responsible thing and made 6:30pm reservations, though the restaurant was relatively empty when we first got there (it filled up for sure during our dinner). We were immediately seated and attended to, which was a pleasant recurring theme for our experience. On the booze front, we each got an Old Fashioned, which was specifically cited on the cocktail menu, and a bottle of Daou Cab Sauvignon to share (I let my chum take the lead on that selection, which I think was influenced by the strong reviews on the Vivino app - a recommend if you're into that sort of thing). The Old-Fashioned was decent; I'm always pleased when the de facto bourbon is Angel's Envy. I'm not crazy about vermouth, which I always think gives off shoe leather vibes, but I did like the smoky profile on this one. Not bad at all, but I liked the bottle of wine better. We decided to split the Grilled Octopus app, which came with seasoned potatoes, olives and tomatoes. This was arguably the weakest part of the meal. The octopus was a little tough/rubbery and the accompanying potatoes to me were very much needed and better, frankly, than the designated star of the show here. I'm not an olive person but my chum's comment there was they were too overwhelming, taste-wise. Noted. We also got a side of parmesan truffle garlic steak fries, which I didn't have too many of because I was distracted by all of the other options on the table, but would totally get again. For entrees, it felt morally proper to hit up the cattle (when in Rome). I went with the Braised Short Ribs, which is one of my go-tos if it's on the menu. Pretty good - VERY tender and literally falling off the bone. I'd say about 20% of it was too fatty for me, and I pawned that section off on my chum, but the other 80% was primo. She got the Filet Mignon Oscar style (which my computer wanted to autocorrect to Oscars, thinking it was the umpteenth time I was typing something about the Academy Awards), and was very pleased by it. Not mindblowingly amazing but solidly above average across the board. I'm not sure why we ordered dessert at this point other than to ensure I had something else to munch on the following day, but we did that too. I got the Cheesecake w/ Marionberry Compote. This was just okay for me. Taste-wise, the cheesecake seemed a little off for my palate; maybe a little too tart? It didn't seem as milky as other cheesecakes, which doesn't necessarily mean it was bad, but wasn't my kind of cheesecake. The compote was also just okay, both in the moment and as a leftover the following day. Maybe I'm just used to getting this dessert with strawberries and compotes that are similar to that type of fruit, but I just didn't think the compote and cake meshed as well. Debatable though. There's room for improvement but this is a strong entry in the Cranford gastro scene, such as it is.

I'm not sure if it was because it was midweek or if the chef was simply off his game on this night, but the experience was disappointing overall. The first thing I noticed when I sat down was that my knife was dirty. I ended up taking another knife from a different table. The ambiance, as always, was wonderful, and there were only two other tables occupied, so the restaurant was not busy at all. They started us off with soup, and it was chicken noodle soup. I was honestly very disappointed. When I go to a Spanish restaurant, especially one like this, I expect something traditional like caldo gallego or a similar house soup -- not chicken noodle soup that I could easily make at home. For appetizers, we ordered shrimp in garlic sauce and calamari. Both were absolutely delicious and honestly the highlight of the meal. We also had to ask the waiter for bread, and when it finally arrived, we were each given one very small roll. Our main entrées were sautéed tilapia and shrimp in lemon sauce with mashed potatoes and string beans, and breaded veal cutlet Milanese with mushrooms in a wine and brandy sauce over mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, neither entrée stood out the way meals here usually do. The tilapia was sitting on a bed of mashed potatoes and absolutely swimming in lemon sauce. There was so much sauce that it completely soaked the mashed potatoes and vegetables. I could only eat the top portion of the fish. My husband also mentioned that his breaded veal was very oily. The waiter never returned to ask if we wanted anything else to drink. The water had no ice and felt warm. We also had to ask for additional bread. I'm used to bread being left at the table, not rationed piece by piece. When the waiter asked if we enjoyed our meal, I politely explained that I did not care for mine and why, especially since most of it was left untouched. He looked at me like I had ten heads. I truly hate writing this because this restaurant has been one of my favorites for years, but this visit just did not live up to the standard I've come to expect.

The place was busy, and then they also have screens where people can watch sports, and other events. They had a very decent menu, that leaned toward "pub grub." The meal started, with chicken strips coated, in Ritz crackers. They were delicious. I don't remember what was in the dipping sauce, but it was amazing They actually reminded me of the old "planet Hollywood" restaurants They had a Dish, along the same line, called "chicken crunch". Chicken, coated in Cap'n crunch cereal. As weird as it sounds, I loved it, and I'm not the only one. It was one of their most popular appetizers, if not the most popular. The main course, the short rib tacos were fantastic. The short rib was literally melt in your mouth tender. It also came with a pink sauce, that was both savory and tangy at the same time. It had a little bit of a kick to it. I may be wrong, but to me, it tasted like there was a little bit of horseradish in it. For the quality of the food, the price was reasonable. I would gladly come back. Thanks!

The menu features lots of comfort foods. The king and duchess cuts are popular orders with my carnivorous family members, while I tend toward their simpler burgers. Either way, the food is dependably good and gets to the table faster than we'd expect. The main crowning glory of all Charlie Brown's, though, is the unlimited salad bar. It can be tacked onto any entree for a hefty charge, but we always get it because it's a fantastic way to start the meal. Since COVID, it seems that all open salad bars have moved behind sneeze guards, and instead of getting everything yourself, you now have to direct a server to retrieve your salad choices for you. On occasion, this might mean your salad might not turn out precisely the way you would've wanted (like the most recent time, when a server drowned my salad in a deluge of Thousand Island dressing) , but the variety of this salad bar can't be understated. Not only do they have all your usual spread of greens and toppings, but there are chopped proteins, egg/tuna/pasta salads, breads, and spreads. This particular Charlie Brown's has become one of my family's go-to spots for celebrations. The large dining space regularly accommodates our sizable party without any wait, and the service is always spot-on. For those with little ones, know that the kids in our family also love coming here. The drawable placemats and free crayons keep them busy until their choice from the crowd-pleasing kids' menu (which includes a free bowl of ice cream) arrives.
