Today was the worst experience! I'm coming in with me and my husband for my BIRTHDAY dinner and though the sushi side had only 3 patrons sitting there we had to wait 10min. So we did. So then the hostess tells me to wait another 10min bc she said her manager told her that where they went to sit us there are people next to us and it will take 10min to separate them to make the table private. WHAT? The section was empty! They could not place us somewhere else? The manager tonite must be an moron! read more

Excellent excellent excellent! Fresh, clean and friendly. Very convenient to the Menlo mall and great lunch selections as well.

I had a great first time experience. The soup and salad was good. Main course dinner of Chateaubriand was the best. I've been to quite a few hibachi restaurants, so I'm familiar with mostly all of the tricks the cook does. The waiter was very attentive. Only two other people were at my table, so it was relatively quiet. Overall, it was enjoyable. I will go back again some time soon. read more

Benihana is just an overrated and overly-expensive Japanese chain hibachi restaurant. The environment is very festive and entertaining because of the hibachi chefs (ours was hilarious), but that's really the only perk you would get out of it. The pricing is ridiculous and you end up paying about $30 per person before taxes and tips. The taste and quality of the food is very mediocre and the flavor is basically a combination of butter and soy sauce heated. I ordered the Hibachi Chicken with mushroom and it was very tasteless, even after I watched them dump spoon after spoon of butter and soy sauce. The portions are heaping and everything is cooked right in front of you (if you order the hibachi). I didn't personally taste their sushi, but friends reported that it was very fresh and delicious. read more

This was my first time eating at Benihana. We were seated almost immediately and the cook showed up in no time---star. I have been to several other hibachi-style restaurants and this one wasn't anything spectacular in comparison to those. The meal was pretty good--star, but nothing I couldn't find at a fast food type chinese restaurant. However, it's always cool to interact with the guy who is preparing your meal. We had a really cool cook---star. If you're in the mood for some decent food, give them a go..but don't expect anything above and beyond what you'd normally get at an average hibachi joint. read more

The food was delicious and both our waiter and chef where very friendly. My only complaint was that the room was very hot. You would think that they would turn up the AC to counteract the heat from the grills. Even before our chef arrived to start the cooking process, I was sweating like crazy. read more

LOVED my experience today. I was seated right when I walked in, my waitress Mia especially made my experience better when I accidentally ordered a drink I realized I did not like. She refused to take no for an answer and tried matching my drink preferences with something she thought I would like more. The food was amazing and I would recommend to come back 100%. read more

I treated my mother to Benihana's yesterday evening where we had a reservation. We were seated in a timely manner and our waiter was very kind. While our chef wasn't the best performer his cooking was superb. We come to Benihana's once a month and we have never had the pleasure of having Rong as a chef. He was very friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. We can't wait to come back and have Rong as a chef for us again! read more

We took my 77yr old father here for his bday with our family a couple weeks ago. I was looking for something with entertainment value that would also accomodate 7 adults and 3 kids. This was an excellent choice. Shirley , our waitress was both gracious and also on top of keeping everyone satisfied with drinks and what not. The chef was both entertaining and cooked at a good pace so everyone had something to eat the whole time. A TON of food. Most of us had to take to go boxes of our Hibachi meals. Everyone loved it. My Hibachi chicken I did not even get to after filling up on the Shrimp, Zucchini and Rice. I opted to skip the noodles. The chicken was tasty the next day though. Great time. I would definitely go back. My vegetarian husband also enjoyed his meal. read more

Very poor service and the dish-ware was dirty. I don't know if it was due to Valentines Day but I asked the waitress to return my dirty plate for a clean one and she brought back another dirty plate. The chef arrives at our table and repeats the table order. I ordered the Trio with chicken fried rice for an extra 3-4 dollars. The chef puts rice on my plate without the chicken. Had to tell him twice. Needless to say by the time I got the chicken my rice was cold. To add more insult to injury, I ordered a glass of wine and the glass was discussing with lipstick and white soot on the glass. I'm done! Never will I return to this restaurant. read more

Went to Benihana tonight for my husbands birthday. The food was HORRIBLE!! We have been here many times pre-Covid and it was good! Went to Hibachi last year and it was Ok. Tonight however, no HIBACHI but restaurant seating and HORRIBLE!! Not only was our food COLD but much LESS than the usual serving and not good. We had to send our food back and they slightly microwaved it and brought it back. We just had to let them know, it's not what we anticipated and our appetite was GONE! BEYOND DISAPPOINTED!! read more

the food is ok ' we ordered the New York stripe steak and teriyaki chicken and seafood ， chicken is too dry ' not recommended, NY stripe steak was really good ' if you order shrimp mix' make sure let him cook less time ， So Four adults we spend like total 190 plus tips $230 , The price is little bit higher than the what we thought ! read more

I use to frequent this place dating 15 years back and now I can officially say this place has lost what made it special. Went there for lunch and my bill was still high. I gave up on coming here for dinner a long time ago as the quality has gone down tremendously. My food was burnt & the sauces taste watered down like it's missing ingredients. My waitress was friendly & attentive which I gave an extra star for. read more

8/7/2011 Never again. Food was not impressive compared to other local hibachi places. Service was lacking. We were accidentally overcharged by double. Least to say, they are very much over priced. Nice building though... 2/7/2015 I guess I didn't learn the first time... Nothing changed. This will be my last time here... read more

The last time I was at a Benihana was over 20 years ago in Manhattan. I was disappointed with this visit. I was looking forward to the fried rice and the rice had no flavor whatsoever. The chicken had no seasoning which was pretty shocking considering they are always putting some thing on it during the cooking show. The shrimp and the steak were well seasoned. My memory of 20 years ago made me think it was going to be fabulous and it wasn't. read more

I usually like dining in but with this pandemic you have to order to go. Just beware their take outs (lunch for me) are small portions and the quality of the food has suffered a bit. I spent $100 for several lunch meals and it wasn't worth it. Kids lunch meals same price as adults. What a joke. I'll just wait till we can go back to dining in. I ordered over the phone and the guy didn't ask if I wanted white rice or fried rice. So he gives me fried rice. The most expensive meal. Anyways just beware. read more

I must say this benihanas was great. I don't know why there reviews suck! I had an amazing dinner. I first started of with an amazing refreshing drink. Omg, prefect amount of liquor and fruitiness. I did not want to be squished in with a table of 8 and they accommodated me and gave me and my husband our own habachi table and chef !!! Omg, so awesome! The food was amazing and cooked perfect with their magic garlic butter!!!! Chef Mario was a sweet and funny talented chef. My fried rice was cooked perfect and so was my filet and lobster! The green tea ice cream (or you can choose which flavor) was the best ice cream I ever ate! It took those after eating taste away. I must say as a frequent habachi eater and eat sushi twice a week this place was great!!!!! read more

The food! THE FOOD!!!! it's amazing. I ate enough for like 4 people. And i still wanted more! It's great how they prepare it in front of you and make a whole show of it. I love bringing visitors here to show them this great spectacular show. Their fried rice is divine! Also, whatever ginger dressing they put on their salad is magical. The staff is friendly and helpful! Most of the time there is a wait to be seated, but it is well worth it! I do believe they've recently changed their menu, but it is mostly the same dishes, just organized different. It's pricy, but worth it! read more

We went for some sushi on the good reviews we received. The non hibachi area was empty yet we waited 10 minutes for the girls to stop talking about their cars. It started out with water that tasted like a cellar, and finished with a 42.00 bill for 3 items, one was ok, one was not that good , and one , a tuna takaki (?sp ) was terrible . We left the entire thing, except for one piece . The waiter never even asked why we didnt eat it. Unfortunately, it was a terrible experience all around. read more

Today's experience was pretty good. Samuel aka Sam aka Sammy Aka Sammy the singer did a good job keeping up with the table. We had a birthday at our table which I usually don't like but Sammy's melodic voice made it ok this time. And the food was aight. See you next week. read more

Joey was very engaging and helpful. Answered all out questions and was extremely welcoming. Made us feel at home. We will definitely visit Benihana again as long as people like him are representing the restaurant. read more

Very disappointing. Really no atmosphere. The waiter assistant (drinks/salads) spoke so quietly we had to repeatedly ask what he was saying. The service was painfully slow - but the check came super quick. The cook seemed bored, really did not put on the show we came for. I've been to hibachi many times and I know the routine, but this chef didn't entertainment us at all. Also, some pieces of my chicken were not fully cooked, the lady next to me said the same about hers. Never again. I'll stick to Arirang for any future hibachi dinners. read more

We called in an order for a pick up. While enroute, we recieved a call that our order was ready for pick up. We informed the restaurant staff member we were 10 minutes away. Upon entering, I stated I was coming to pick up an order. Fifteen minutes later and asking for the third time, my order came out and reviewed. The host was kind enough to bring it to the car but in hindsight, for the cost of the meal- $200.00 for take out they need serious improvement in organizing and expediting their pick up/ take out process. read more

Was here on Monday , Presidents' Day didn't feel like having hibachi so they seated us (me and my kids) near the bar area. The longest wait ever for sashimi. Bartender was our server , who was so busy, he forgot to give me my soup and salad that comes with my meal. Was approached by manager to clean off our table, who had no personality whatsoever . didn't want to complain but definitely didn't expect to have such a long wait for everything... Oh I know why, only on guy preparing behind the sushi counter.. Duh, guess they didn't expect to have a crowd for sushi lunch? Who knows? Oh well, big disappointment Benihana , next time going to non chain Japanese restaurant for my sashimi. My fault . This place is probably better if you want hibachi meal. read more

We were seated pretty fast (considering no online reservations there). Once we sat down we ordered our appetizers and food. We ordered two shrimp tempuras, but only got one thing of dipping sauce (I don't know about you but I believe two orders should get two things of sauce). Immediately after the rest arrived (salad and soup), this didn't really leave us much to eat. About two minutes later the hibachi guy arrived to cook the rest of the food, but at this point we had not received one of our drinks or had gotten a chance to eat anything. The salads had very minimal ginger on them, when normally you get enough to actually cover the salad. We explained our issues to the manager, but he did not care much and said it should be that fast(customer service, am I right?). The hibachi began to cook, but they completely forgot the white rice and only gave the fried. Everything else was cooked well, however I feel they could do a way better job. For a franchise restaurant you think there would be a standard of service to customers, if we aren't happy you should try your best to fix that. read more

I'm someone who enjoys Benihana's every once in a while. This trip to Benihana's was very decent! We only waited around ten minutes to be seated as a party of four with a reservation so that was perfect. Our waitress was very obviously new but she was sweet and helpful so she was perfect, as well. Our chef was so much fun! He was interactive, played around with us and made our food perfect to order. I'm giving this review four stars because the amount of time we had to wait for our waitress and then our chef and everything between turned what should have been a 90 minute visit to well over two hours. Good job! read more

The worst service I have ever received. After the meal was done the waiter never came back to help. When we asked a manager for for help he disappeared to talk to staff we had to get our own to go boxes and then waited another 30 mins for dessert. Management didn't really care to help. We went in at 7pm and left at 945pm. Unexceptional read more

Typical hibachi experience but a little overpriced. There is an extensive menu and plenty of options for hibachi or kitchen items. Every hibachi order comes with a full 5 course meal- onion soup, salad with ginger dressing, hibachi shrimp appetizer/hibachi vegetables, steamed white rice (fried rice will cost you extra), and your main order. I ordered the hibachi scallops and asked if I could sub out the white rice with an additional serving of vegetables, but the waitress said that it would cost an additional $6. In terms of the hibachi cooking itself, our show was nothing special- our hibachi chef was not very interactive with us and it wasn't as enjoyable as other hibachi experiences I've had in the past. He did give us additional food, but this is common in any hibachi restaurant. Would not recommend going out of your way to eat at this place, but if you're within the area it is a good option as you have the mall across the street. read more

I recently moved to the area and I've been to Benihana's before at the Westbury, NY location and I must say this location cannot compare. I visited this location last Saturday and was appalled, we were seated to filthy plates at the habachi station, when I informed the waiter he seemed annoyed or perhaps tired of hearing the plates were filthy. He brought out replacements plates with an attitude. And handed over sticky, wet menus to follow. I had a question on the menu as the hostess mentioned something abt a special Valentine's Day menu being offered that weekend, when I asked the waiter abt the special menu he shrug and stated "this is my first week I have no clue". In short the waiter was inattentive , drink and food orders were messed up , other parties at the table were aggravated. It was a terrible time , I will never return to this location . What's sad is the place wasn't even busy it was a Saturday afternoon and very quiet yet the service was terrible !!! The Chef was pretty good but also confused as the waiter provided him with incorrect orders , he did his best to entertain the table but everyone was already disgusted by the service. Advice to management hire ppl who actually want to interact with guest, clean up the place a bit the floor was filthy, wipe the tables , the chairs are old and sticky, plates and utensils were disgusting. read more

Went to the place with my colleagues, for lunch this Friday. We knew it was a bit pricey place, so was prepared for that... Sadly we didn't get the Hibachi style .... as the wait was high we had to go for the restaurant part. And may be due to that the cost was bit less than expected.... I had the combo Sushi and the Miyo soup... I am not a fan of Sushi... just wanted to experiment for the sake of it... But I would say, I liked it mainly the tuna roll and all... I tasted some fried rice and stuff and it was a bit different... Overall the company was good and the food was ok... Want to go there once more for the hibachi style.... read more

Pros: Good food Cons: You should know their policies before you enter! It was my husband's birthday. Since he wanted to eat Japanese food, we arrived about 7:45pm. Disappointment began when we gave the cake to the receptionist and asked them to bring it after food. She right away said that we cannot cut the cake in their restaurant!! She also added that we have to order ice-cream if we want to celebrate a birthday. When you order ice-cream, they will sing "Happy Birthday" in Japanese & English. When we asked why we cannot cut the cake, she said, "It is our policy. Since it is a privately owned franchise, the policies are different from other Benihana's anywhere." Japanese food wasn't anything new to us. We have been to another Benihana, Shogun and Hibachi restaurants earlier. The food was good. We took our kid to show him how they cook food in front of us on the grill, serve them real hot while showing some tricks with their tools. Throughout, the kid was excited about the fact that there will be fire and tricks at the table. To all our disappointment, a non-japanese cook appeared. He started with a trick of rolling the egg and he failed. So, he did not do any more tricks but just cook food. It was all grave for a kid with expectations. Anyway, the food was good and hence the 3 stars. Wish I could give more stars. But there are a few things that I think are worth mentioning. You cannot bring & cut your own cake. They sing Japanese "Happy birthday" or wish only when you order ice-cream from them. That's crazy. To add, their service is bad. Guess, this is what you get in a chain restaurant. In most restaurants, waiters ask about dessert after you're done with food. This one was different. We waited for everyone to finish eating, so that we could order some ice-cream. No waiter showed up, so we went to the receptionist and asked how to order ice-cream. She replied, "You should have told us before you were seated about having ice-cream". Anyway, I should give her some credit, coz she went in and put the ice-cream order for us. We waited for about 10 minutes and the ice-cream did not show up at the table. We went to her again and asked for ice-cream and after about some time 1 cup of ice-cream arrived!!!!!! Clubbed with songs in two languages, one of which was Greek & Latin to us. Another waiter, looked Indian, took a photo of ours with our uncut cake and gave us a copy of the photo which we can download from their website as well. Well, I can give her a star but not to the restaurant. We returned home with the birthday cake. We cut it at home around 10pm, ate it and went to bed. Wish they could do better next time. Train the front personnel in how to handle customers requests and not tell them, "This is a privately owned franchise and so we have different policies than other franchises." Survival in the service industry comes from providing proper service not just good food. read more
