Ordered furniture, glass tops for the tables, and covers in July. Furniture arrived promptly but we were told the covers would be in 'at the end of the week' and the glass may take more time. When a week went by we called and were told they would be in by the end of THAT week. Two more weeks went by - no one called us. We called them again and were told there was a delay at the factory and the covers and glass should be in soon and that someone would call us with an update. No one called. After 30 days we were told the covers and one of the glass table tops were in! First time they had called us. We went in and after a 20 minute search they finally found the covers but had no idea where the glass was. So now we need to make a third trip to the store to get the glass that did arrive but no one knows where it is and maybe a fourth trip to get the other missing glass table top. They say that glass will be in 'next week'. We get that there are delays at the factory but the total lack of communication and endless promises about 'next week and we'll call you' are unprofessional and show a lack of respect for our time. read more

Buyer Beware. I purchased a pizza oven, was promised delivery in a few days. When I called for update, was told the oven was missing knobs and a burner, and there was no idea when the oven might be delivered. I was unable to cancel the order over the phone, told I had to show up with paperwork at the remote location (Salem), not where I paid for the oven (Hampton), and would only be issued a refund by check, not through my credit card. The person talked over me the entire conversation. I have never had this experience with any other retailer before, so was surprised at the number of positive reviews for this merchant. read more

I'm shocked to see any negative reviews here! I've been to the store many times each summer where I have always been greeted with respect and have found value in their information and products. Shortly after I had my pool installed the pool installer said that I would have to drain the pool to acid wash the rust stain out of it. After getting a quote for thousands of dollars I walked into Bemister's and explained my situation, they sold me a $20 product and within a few days the stains were gone. They are great people and I recommend using them for everything pool related! read more

We were having a lot of issues with our Haywood cartridge filter. We were lucky enough to be able to talk with Steve about the issue and he advised us on how to add the closing chemicals without the use of the filter. He was also very knowledgeable on the filters and pumps. He helped us to decide on a much better filter to use going forward. Had a scheduled pool closing the 3rd week of October. No show no call..so I called the 4th week. The owner himself said will be there Thursday or Friday. Fine..ok. Then can't make it AGAIN so says DEFINITELY Sat night or Sunday morning for sure. Then AGAIN! cancels and calls saying will do it Monday. So Monday comes and I wait all morning, NO CALLS NOTHING!!!! So i call and guess what...GIVES ME ATTITUDE!!! Says he's going on vacation and to find someone else to do it...AT THE LAST MINUTE RIGHT BEFORE IT GETS DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO FREEZING WHEN THE POOL COULD GET DAMAGED!! I was left calling around desperately because of the lies false promises and BS i was put through. Completely unprofessional!!! And this was coming from the owner Brad himself. REVISED: Just wanted to add some further thoughts that we encountered while waiting for our pool install. As far as the ordering process - that was amazing, Bemisters was super helpful. Then it came to communication with the intall...not so amazing. I will say that once here, the guys were great. BUT we were given an install date. No show for hours, left messages, etc. hours later heard back stating they can't make it that day. Fine, no problem! Things happen. We were promised another date and time nothing..no show, no call. Had to keep texting and calling to find out when they would arrive. This went on several times. The lack of communication was super frustrating! It was not the fact that things happen and schedules can change, it is the fact that we were continuously in the dark. The not knowing if they would arrive when promised, very frustrating! We did a lot of work schedule juggling and a pet fence had to keep getting put up and taken down, each time we were promised they would come. I will say Kim was very responsive to me even though she did not have a lot of the answers, she was responsive and very pleasant. However, my husband asked a question regarding a part we needed after the install and she never responded. So, not sure what happened there, but just want to give folks a heads up that the install process can be frustrating if you have an active "away from home job" and pets. If not, maybe your entire process will be smooth with no issue at all. Bought a pool table from them and it was a floor model so I managed to get a fair price from them. It was an item I was able to negotiate. I have heard they are very good but expensive in the pool/patio furniture area but I don't have first hand knowledge. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and for that it is worth giving the place a shot. The store in Salem is bigger and has a lot more selection than the store in Hampton. read more

Buyer Beware- My adventure with Darren started on 9/25/21. He promised an inground pool liner and installation by October 2021. He charged me the full price for the liner, $2,500. I had to reach out and repeatedly call for any information as to where the liner was, or what the hold up was. Often he wouldn't return my call for days. He would say the measurements were wrong and send Tom out to remeasure. Tom would come out weeks later and remeasure. Then again we'd repeat the tradition of me calling and being ignored. By December Darren finally acknowledged that my liner wouldn't be in until the Spring. However, now I had an empty in-ground pool (that he told me to empty) and had to hope for the best. He suggested I refill the pool, only to have to drain it again in the spring. Fast forward to May when I'm beyond frustrated, I go into the store and ask to speak with Darren. He isn't there but I refused to leave until someone spoke with me. Another worker told me my liner had come in and been returned 3x due to a damaged box (this was the first time I've heard this story), and that my liner was on a truck being returned. However, Darren called the next day to let me know he had my liner in the store. He wanted to do the installation on Saturday, but I'd have to contact Tom and set it up. I wish I could say, I have a pool, and it looks great! However, it looks like I asked my teenagers to watch some youtube videos and do a DIY. My previously traditional inground pool now looks like a custom pool dug to look like you are swimming in a crater on the moon. There are bumps and mounds of sand everywhere visible from every angle. There are wrinkles all over the place. I'm embarrassed and disgusted that this is the end result of nine months of waiting. The worst part, Darren isn't taking any responsibility and is pointing fingers at Tom (his chosen contractor), and Tom is pointing fingers at Darren. Then here I am, the customer who paid professionals to do a job, and my pool is now an eyesore in the backyard. Darren doesn't ensure quality work, he just wants your money. OK, so I'm a new pool owner and was having a lot of trouble getting my pool to clear up after opening it at the beginning of summer. It was very green when we first opened it and while I got that cleared up, the pool was still very cloudy. I went into Bemiser's and they tested my water, gave me a written report on what was going on with my water, told me exactly what I needed to do and within a few days, it was all cleared up. They've always been pretty helpful and knowledgeable when I've had questions so I'm pretty satisfied with their service and prices so far. read more

If I could give it a zero rating, I would. My son-in-law bought the premier package of an above ground pool. When he picked it up there were so many parts missing, it was ridiculous. The customer service is beyond bad. We did business with Bemister's years ago and had a great experience, but whoever is running it now has no idea what they're doing. A premier package came with a vacuum hose that is in 3 foot pieces. As soon as you start to run it, it comes apart! The pool was picked up in March and it's now May and there are still parts missing, including a ladder! How do you get in an above ground pool without a ladder. When asked when it would be in, well, they have no idea. Seriously? This is beyond horrible. We would tell anyone who asked to go some place else. They should close their doors because they're all incompetent. read more

The worst company I ever dealt with.When purchasing products,they are helpful.When there is a problem with the product.they could care less.I was getting my pool ready for my daughters bridal shower,I bought a liner,which was guaranteed to fit my pool. I had multiple problems with it.We spent money trying to fit this liner.I had a pool guy come out and suggested return it ...This will not fit.I called Bemister and spoke to the father of the business.He told me to take pictures,bring them in and he would help.I brought the pictures in and refuse to see them.Then denied our whole conversation..This is not good customer service...and I will be taking my business elsewhere.I would like to add the gentleman that fixed my pool (with a liner from namco)felt badly and didn't charge me ...I'm still out 400.00 plus dollars read more

Went there in the winter looking for children 's swimming floater jacket. The guy said they put away in Storage since no one asks for them in the winter time and it's late in the day he said come back tomorrow and and someone will go to storage pull one out and give it to you . so came back the next day the guy sounded he was too lazy to go and dig one out from the storage room so he said they don't have any . I went there today looking for a swimming pool something inexpensive just a couple hundred dollars. they had something but there is no warranty on it not even a 30 day warranty they said warranty comes from manufacturer . when someone usually tells me there is no warranty on a product they sell not even 15 day warranty try not to waste any time there. I bought an Olhausen pool table second hand 8 years ago and the guy I bought it from set it up for me. 2 years ago I moved and paid the moving company to set it up for me at the new house. This last spring the felt was worn and stained from spills. The rubber had melted when an Easter buffet put a can of sterno too close to the rail. Being a handy guy but not being very wealthy I watched a couple youtube videos and decided I would try to fix it myself. I bought supplies online and re-bumpered and re-felted the table myself. Etched into the slate in an area that doesn't interfere with the play is the name Darren Bemister and the date 11/21/89. This is more a good review for how sturdy an Olhausen table is and a funny anecdote about the guy who originally set up the table. You did good work. The table lives on. read more

We just had our deck redone and were ready to buy patio furniture and an umbrella. We were never greeted or helped. We decided, for whatever reason, they didn't want our business, so we left. TAKE your business someplace else! Unscrupulous sales tactics. In May, 2001 I was shopping quality and price for patio and pool furnishings. I did what I could on the computer and looked locally back then too. I went to BEMISTERS in Salem NH, although they have other stores. They are a family. One of the sales tactics that entirely influenced my purchase of a TC complete patio set,with a large table umbrella, base, covers and 6 chairs, was that if the slings broke during its lifetime they would be replaced one time free of charge. That was a real warranty to me, and I purchased this set. I'm an avid consumer person and there is no possibility they were talking about a different set. Fast-forward May, 2015 and I called BEMISTERS to find out how to obtain my replacement chair slings. They claimed to know nothing about it, never offered it and I must've been confused. When I persisted, certain of my memory and the way I shop, they told me that I must have been looking at a Tropitone set, that offered such warranty. I knew the warranty was specific to the set I bought. Then he asked me if I had any 'certificates' about the warranty, and I did not. I had saved all the other paper all this time for this warranty. They gave me the tel no for TC to call, claiming maybe it was from the manufacturer. I emailed and called the manufacturer. At first I thought each was pointing the finger at the other. Then I looked at all the reviews on Bemisters and concluded this is another example of a bogus sales practice. TC spoke to them after my complaint, and they claimed I hung up on them. I hate that Bemisters is allowed to sell or distribute for reputable companies, counting on and hoping that the customer won't have records and receipts. I had everything but their warranty in writing. LESSON: IF you do business with them get it ALL in writing. Better yet, please support me and other consumers and go someplace else. The MFG was wonderful in addressing the issue. So, find TC and buy it from ANY other vendor. Mine TC set lasted a good 12+ years before the slings started to tear. We brought in a pool sample for testing because our water has been turning green. The salesman printed a report for us and told us what we needed to solve the problem. He told us we would see a remarkable difference within a two day period if we follow the directions on the computerized print out. We did--to the letter. It did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. We spent $200 and there is NO change to the pool water. We are very disappointed--with ourselves mostly...for falling for this nonsense. Save your money. I was looking for a set of patio furniture. I shopped many stores and I was looking for a teak set. My neighbors reccomended I go to bemisters because that was were they purchased their set. I found the brand I wanted at the best price ! I had a very pleasant shopping experience. The salesperson was very knowleable about his products. Not only were the delivery guys on time, they assembled the furniture, placed it on my back deck and went over the care and maintenance of the teak. GREAT GUYS :) read more

I was yelled at by one of the owners in the middle of the showroom for asking a question. Bemisters claims a family owned business since 1942 with extensive customer service and excellent quality products. Let me share my experience with you. First know that the Bemisters is a product sales store. They do not have their own installers, electricians and so do not expect a one-stop. I purchased the top-of-the-line shark line oceanic 24 foot round pool and top-of-the-line package with an expectation of delivery of 4 to 6 weeks. Darron was extremely helpful in explaining the entire pool package, who to contact for separate installation and electrical work and recommendation to touch base with the town of Salem for any permits required. On the sales and of things is where the good customer service stopped. After six weeks with an expectation of a phone call to deliver the pool none was had. After several attempts at trying to pin down a date of when the pool would be delivered we were told the pool was delayed at the manufacturing level and to continue to call back to see what was going on. There was a no effort to communicate with their customers going forward. Here are some examples. When the pool was finally expected in the Salem store it required 4 phone calls on my part to pin down a delivery date for Friday or Saturday. When the pool equipment was finally delivered on Saturday morning for a cash fee of $100 there was no communication of any missing parts. As the homeowner I had organized installation on Sunday not realizing any parts were missing. Brad , Owner of the store, had never communicated that some parts were unavailable at this time even though the contract stated everything was in stock. Brad reached out to the installer mid day on Saturday to let him know that not all of the parts were available or delivered. This was never communicated to the customer, me. The installer instructed me the customer to go to the store when it opens at 10 AM on Sunday to pick up one of the missing parts. Upon arriving to the store and asking for this armor shield product and asking about previously agreed-upon store credits due to not needing the ladder, I took the opportunity to express my displeasure with the lack of communication on behalf of Bemisters to Brad where I was yelled at because I had arranged installation on my own ahead of schedule with the installer (again not a roll of Bemisters), when I asked about items not being delivered such as a winter skimmer cover, I was told they were on backorder. Brad had many accusations for his newly acquired pool customer. I am sorry to say that when you call your customer names and offer no customer service in a service Industry such as sales you're destined to fail. I truly feel bad that the business was such a long standing history in my hometown Salem, New Hampshire presents itself in such a bad light to their customers. A simple I'm sorry that we were unable to deliver within the expected timeframe or I'm sorry that we did not deliver all the products as promised or what can we do to help you in this process would've made all the difference in the world. I hope for future customers of Bemisters that they go into this process with eyes wide open. I hope for Bemisters employees and owners that they may possibly realize simple communication with their customers will go along way. As for I, I would not recommend this company to friends, family or others should they ask, "who did you use to put in your pool". read more
