Update: Business owners contacted us, apologized and mailed us a check for our full refund (received). They also provided us with a $100 gift card to compensate for our experience. We are supporters of local businesses. Our experience with Bemisters, however, has been among the worst experiences we have ever had with a business. We ordered adirondack chairs earlier in the year. Because of the color we wanted they were special ordered for which we would have to pay shipping. We agreed. Roughly 2 months after we ordered them they were delivered... to the store (not our home as we'd been told). We went to pick them up and discovered they were not the color we ordered. Store employee confirmed they were the wrong color - manufacturer error. They suggested we take these while they processed a replacement order. We did. Over the next 2+ months we followed up with Bemisters several times on the replacements. No one could give us status on the replacements. When follow up calls to us were promised they were never received. We finally got tired of waiting for the replacements, we called and said they should cancel the replacement order and we were returning the incorrectly colored ones for a refund. Store employee agreed. At first they said they would pick up the chairs at our home. They never did. We ultimately dropped the chairs off at the store (pictures attached). Store employee acknowledged the condition of the chairs (like new). We were told because of the time that had passed since the original order they would have to issue a refund by check (instead of back to our credit card). After two weeks without receiving a check we followed up by phone with the store. Now we were being told that the chairs needed to be shipped to their other store to determine their condition and decide whether a refund would be issued. Absolute nonsense. When we commented on the horrible customer service we were receiving, we received a sarcastic "that's what we strive for" from the store employee. One way or another, we will get our refund. And we will never do business with this business again. read more

My husband and I woke up today with the decision that we are going to buy a new Weber grill and be prepared for next summer early! He had already gone to Ace hardware where although they were extremely nice, they unfortunately don't take away your old grill (buzz kill). He had been to Lowe's and Home Depot and the experience was pleasant but again they couldn't accommodate the delivery set up and removal of the old grill. I suggested we search in the Rye and Hampton area for another place that carries Weber grills, and he was not too keen on it saying we will not find one we will just have to order it at Home Depot and figure out how to magically make the other one go away! For the heck of it I called the pool and barbecue grill store in Hampton called Bemister's. The gentleman that answered the phone was extremely knowledgeable and said not only did they have the best prices on Weber grills but that the quality was different than the ones that they sell in the box stores which really surprised us. He went on to say that they have their own service that drops them off and sets them up but also will take away our old grill at a very reasonable price. We went down there to find an extremely gracious and knowledgeable salesperson who happens to be fourth generation in the company. By the time we left, not only were we thrilled that we made that call, but we are getting it delivered tomorrow which is a Sunday!!! I guess that's what the old fashion "mom-and-pop" businesses do! What a change in experiences from other places and refreshing to see the classic old fashion "we care about the client" attitude still exists. They are very dog friendly, hands-on, and accommodating. 6 stars! read more

This place is a rip off. The prices are thru the roof. Went in and paid for a round table with 4 chairs ($1100). Called and asked if they could deliver. They said sure for $150. It was one of the owners. Then I returned and asked for my refund. He told me he needed the receipt. I told him it was at home. He said he would not refund without the receipt. I got the receipt and got my refund. The owner was really ignorant. Not recommended! read more

So I don't write reviews very often but this was so deserved I had to. We just had a tremendous buying experience here with an excellent product selection and even better service. The gentleman who greeted and helped us, Steve, was tremendously courteous and knowledgeable. He naturally engaged us from the outset and helped us identify our need and matched it to the perfect product for us. Additionally, he went above and beyond to accommodate our circumstances. I would highly recommend this place for all of your recreational and outdoor needs and will be spreading the word around. Thank you for such a pleasurable experience. We will be back! read more

If I could give no stars I would. When I first walked in the young man I spoke to was super nice and helpful. I was looking to buy a pool and thought I would go with a local family Ownedbusiness. They weren't the cheapest and weren't the most expensive. Once I decided on the pool,they quickly pulled out a contract but I didn't want to sign that day I wanted to do a little more research. I went back and finally signed and i should have asked more questions but the pool companies I visited that day installed the pool. After I signed they told me they have a guy who does installations and that WE would have to Call him. We were told by the installer to order a liner pad that goes under the liner at install to protect the liner. I also wanted wedding cake stairs which they said they would take the price off the ladder that came with it. I also got a "premium package" which included a winter cover a 1.5 horse pump and a few other goodies. We picked up the pool months later and the installer came he took an inventory and did his thing. I noticed the liner going in but there was no liner pad. The installer said it wasn't in the boxes. So went back to Bemisters and said oops they forgot to order it. We had been there several times to talk about it. They never took the money off the ladder to go towards the stairs and I decided to take an inventory of my Premium package things and I got a 1 horse pump no winter cover no wall brush and a few other things were missing. Went back once again and they said oh yeah we are having a hard time getting those things. So instead of telling us some things would be missing they said nothing. They can keep their over priced stuff and lesson learned never to deal with Bemisters again. read more

Went in last weekend looking for a foosball table and saw a floor model bumper pool table that the salesman was talking up. It is their last one and the felt pad is a little worn. He was willing to sell it for $695. We went home a measured our room just to make sure it would fit. Went back today and now they are asking $1200! Not willing to negotiate at all. We reminded him of the price he gave us last week and he back pedaled on it. Pathetic. read more
