They have a lot of style - everything is displayed beautifully, and Alison knows her stuff and was able to answer all of our questions. Not only is she knowledgeable, she is also a great person, very easy to talk to and I was not intimidated to ask all kinds of questions . We landed on the Kozy Heat Oakport gas stove which is modern and efficient and warms us right up. Installation was a breeze because JFP handled everything, including a new chimney through the roof. We walked in without an appointment and were warmly welcomed. They were attentive and informative without being overbearing and there was no pressure to buy. We had a bit of back and forth over email, while they guided us through the process of selecting the best product for our budget and aesthetic. Much of the time, Alison responded to my questions within minutes, even on a Sunday evening. When installation day came, Ken was punctual, showed respect for our home and was a pleasure to deal with. Two days later, he returned with a broken wrist and the town inspector, who found no issues with the new gas line he ran. We got extremely lucky to walk into this place on a Saturday and meet with Ken, the owner. We had explored a few other places and were just not comfortable with their level of expertise. We were looking to purchase and have installed a propane fireplace insert and were quoted over $8k by another company. Jackson was able to sell us a great product and install it for under $5k. Better than the price, though, was the level of service, which we really needed to put us at ease. I'm not much of a handyman, so I didn't trust the measurements I took. Ken came out to take the measurements, ordered the right size fireplace, came out to pre-install it prior to my propane company bringing propane to the fireplace and then came again to finish the install and go over the features and remote control with us. The bottom line is that if you are looking for an experienced professional (and licensed gas-fitter) to take the ball and run with it, you will not be disappointed with Jackson Fireplace. I failed to mention that they also rushed to get this job finished and even came here the day before Thanksgiving to finish it up. My opinion is based on personal experience with their customer service. I called on a week day to request a call back for price and service of an existing insert fireplace. I called because the fireplace we have (Superior) is in need to maintenance and difficulty firing up. Thought where Jackson is a local company, could throw my business to them and also get a reasonable cost estimate to perform service. About 24-hours after my initial call, I received a call back. In my opinion, that was too long of a timespan for them to call back regarding a new customer inquiry. In any event, I did call them back to give a chance about explaining what they would do for the fireplace and the fees. I was told the starting fee would be $169 plus parts. To me, that was expensive for a service maintenance call for a new customer. We generally contact the company that installed the fireplace, which is about 30 minutes out of town. In this case, this business is only 15 minutes away and their pricing is much higher than the company we generally deal with. I am giving this rating only because others I have spoken with about the business spoke highly of them. Otherwise, I would give a much lower rating. Perhaps they provide better service to existing customers. read more

We called about a malfunctioning fireplace insert. They were able to squeeze us into a busy winter season. The technician came out, fixed the problem, and performed a thorough cleaning so that the unit works great now. He laid down cloths, and was meticulous in his clean up. We were even missing a gasket for the stove, and the technician had another employee bring one to the house while he was there so that the service could be completed. Very happy! read more
