This consignment shop is, without a doubt, a hidden gem. The furniture and home decor is not remotely what you'd expect as used. Everything looks brand new and is reasonably priced. There are so many beautiful, high-quality pieces (writing desks, curio cabinets, a really cool grandfather clock) I wanted to take home, but I had to restrain myself and stick with my mission...a new couch. We found a gorgeous, oversized, squishy, comfy loveseat with 4 oversized, squishy, comfy pillows and this thing has some weight to it. A nice, solid piece of furniture. I also gave in and grabbed an absolutely gorgeous set of desk lamps that look like flowers. There were a couple of other couches I really liked and each came with a matching chair but this loveseat was just way more than I was even expecting to find. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend this shop. read more

I've been to hundreds of vintage shops and this one is arguably the worst I've ever been to. Great news: everything is heavily discounted. Bad news: everything is extremely overpriced. Minimal items of quality. read more

I was blown away by the sheer amount of stuff here! They had paintings, jewelry, furniture, glassware, and so much more. Was definitely a tight squeeze in some spots and hard to take in everything but I found some good items at reasonable prices (after the discounts). Could have spent hours in there! read more

The owner is quite nice. There were discounts today. Many rooms of too much stuff! I had to walk through a few times to rustle through and maybe find a gem. There was an abundance of costume jewelry on the first floor. read more

This place is a hot mess, a firetrap, with goods piled high and walkways scarcely wide enough to pass thru. Think of the worst photos you've ever seen of "hoarding". This is worse. Also, it's NOT a source of bargains. I was lured by a "special". One dollar for all items marked $20 and under, 75% off everything else. You guessed it. NOTHING I looked at was priced under a dollar. Everything else was marked up 4 to 5 times its worth. Don't waste your time. read more

A wonderful store! It's packed from top to bottom so be prepared to spend some time looking through everything. The owner is wonderful and very helpful. I love the frequent sales and promotions. I will definitely be going back often! If you're like me and don't like stuffy antique stores that watch your every move then this is a must for you! Nice friendly atmosphere. Vickie V. read more

A lot of stuff to see but too crowded and expensive for me unfortunately. Nice staff. Friendly greeting when I arrived.

Not a bad store! This furniture consignment store has been at this location for over a year and is doing quite well. I have been many times now and I am always greeted by the friendly woman owner. Three floors of used furniture, housewares, art, rugs, and brick-a-brack, this store has low prices and good turnover. All the stuff is clean and in good shape. Well arranged and all types of styles from antique to modern. A fun place to spend some time to browse and find that right piece for your room. read more

New Beginnings Furniture Consignment - Furniture Stores Near Me - Salem, New Hampshire

A hidden gem! Lots of home "decor" items. I found a nice tall standing glass vase. There are many rooms with a variety of pieces, mostly vases, glasswear, pictures, and decor items. Everything is reasonably priced and at the time of visiting today everything was also half off. Owner was friendly and helpful. read more

Apparently, writing a negative Yelp review is the way to get the owner to actually hold up her end of calling, not that that was intended, but it's what happened. My mother actually got a call back saying that her $8 check, yes 8 measly dollars, was being prepared and she could pick it up. I don't know what one has to do to prepare a check other than write some words on it, but I would assume this mysterious process could have taken place during the last six months since she consigned there. The owner said she was "busy" which is why she hadn't returned any phone calls for six months. That sure as hell is busy! Also, she decided to dig my number out of wherever she still had it lying around, even though I'm no longer consigning with her, and proceed to call me in the middle of a weekday at work to chide me about my review. This dog and pony show is a joke and the blatant nonsense pulled by the owner is ridiculous. I'm all set with ever setting foot here again. read more

Aside from being one of those places I thought I reviewed a long time ago, New Beginnings is not what you'd expect. My first visit here was right after they opened. They've expanded quite a bit since then and when you enter the store you may think it's not much but it's like the Energizer Bunny, it keeps going and going and going. If I didn't already have a house full (my BF says over full) of furniture, I'd be looking here. For anyone moving to a new home, I would put this on my short list of places to visit. They have a Facebook page with photos of sold items which gives you an idea of what you can expect (anything!). I must admit, I have never actually made a purchase or been a consignor at this shop. But I have shopped it often. What can I say, I like to look? read more

nice place and interesting selection of items. Liz is very nice and she and another younger women are happy to explain how their markdowns work and help you find what you need. There is a place on the 2nd floor where they have pix of bigger items that they have in the ready if you are interested. I for sure will go back on a regular basis to see whats arrived. read more

What a treasure! This is by far the cleanest, prettiest, nicest consignment shop I've ever been in. You're greeted with a smile and there's no pressure to buy anything. I love this place! It's like walking through someone's home; all the rooms are beautifully decorated. I'll be back again! read more

This is one of my new favorite places! For starters, there's a great mix of "vintage" (I use this term loosely, but essentially I mean "old school") stuff as well as more modern pieces. If you're not used to shopping in a consignment shop,. realize that just about everything you see is for sale - the plants on the tables, the art on the walls...everything. A lot of the items here were very reasonably priced and like I said, there's a good mix in terms of the selection. But the best part? They have a "wish list"! So if you let them know what you're looking for, they'll keep their eyes peeled and give you a call when they have something for you. read more

I found New Beginning's by going online and searching for furniture stores near where as I was moving to. It's a cute place with quite a lot to look at. There's a big selection of home decor and all the furniture there is very reasonably priced. I noticed that the quality of furniture that they take is very good too. You have to be careful when buying furniture and other things for the home at thrift or consignment stores. Sometimes places don't take things that are of the greatest quality. But that's not something you have to worry about here, thankfully. Service is very good too. Both the ladies who helped me were very accommodating and friendly. I had my eye on a large dining table but didn't buy it since I didn't have a car big enough to take it back home. However, I'll definitely visit again in the future when I have more time and am able to take bigger items home with me. I did buy a beautiful painting for my new apartment that was only $12. Overall, highly recommended. read more

I'm giving two star because claire the greeter was amazingly welcoming and nice... this shop inventory is definitely vintage 1970-1995... just not my thing. I was expecting more furniture. read more

What a terrific hidden gem! There are 3 levels of items all nicely laid out. Everyone is extremely kind and helpful as we walked around. There was some quality items that we will definitely be coming back for. Definitely take a look and/or make a drive up to take a look around. read more

This consignment furniture shop looks quite small when you first enter but when you go upstairs there are several large rooms with furniture, The furniture itself is somewhat high compared to many other consignment shops, There is a nice selection and there are many smaller items on top of and around the large furniture pieces. read more

This place is AMAZING!!!. I recently purchased a house and spent endless hours looking for decent furniture that would enhance the beauty of the houses original charm. I went to ALL the area stores and was very disappointed in the styles and quality of furniture made(cheaply)today. After seeing an article passed on by my mom, we decided to take a trip to New Beginnings. I was pleasantly surprised how many marvelous pieces they have. Furniture with CHARM created when they actually made decent furniture. I bought a comfy couch with big pillows, a chaise chair and a roll-top desk. Three pieces that you would NEVER find in any of todays stores; these are very well made and unique. I found a hidden gem and plan on making several visits because this place is exactly what will make my house a home. read more

I have bought many pieces from here- a desk, lamps, bookcase, art, tables, and more, and have yet to be dissapointed! If you are looking for great pieces at a fair price, this is the place to go. The owner is very selective of the pieces they carry, so you are not going to take something home that will fall apart in a week. Not only can you find interesting pieces, the store is very well organized and contains many sets- you could furnish a room almost completely for a great price. Over all, New Beginnings has great variety, amazing quality, and is a clean and friendly place to shop! I love it! read more

This place is really well laid out and has fair prices. We found some exquisite pieces when we went, including a really lovely mahogany vanity desk that we ended up taking home. Three floors full of beautiful and inspiring pieces, love it! Also, I feel the need to point out that most consignment furniture shops do a 50/50 split for folks who wish to drop off their items, you shouldn't rate a place low because they conform to industry norms.. read more

I was referred to this place by several people and I was not disappointed when I finally made it in. I was impressed with the quality and variety of the products. Everything was clean and in good shape. I was very impressed with how things were displayed. With over three floors of inventory there is more than meets the eye when you first walk in. Each level contains a vast assortment of goods and it changes all the time. They give you a reason to keep coming in to see what they have. Also, if you don't see what you are looking for, let them know and they will keep an eye for you and will inform you when something comes in. It is worth the visit. read more

LOVE IT!!! The Only way I can describe this place is One of those stores you wish you would've found sooner and one you will go back to at least once a week. There is so much to look at. With three floors, and every corner filled with the neatest stuff from vintage to modern you may need to walk around more than once. Can't wait to go back next week... :) read more

This is the kind of place you really need to have on your short list when you're looking for furniture and home decor. All is well presented and in excellent condition. Pricing is very reasonable and much is high quality brand-name merchandise. I have bought from as well as consigned here and I can tell you that Liz is very particular and knowledgeable around what she'll put in her shop....there is no junk. She is upfront with you, works hard for the consignor, and provides a great venue to show and sell your furniture. If you're looking to buy quality furniture and home decor or if you have quality furniture or home decor to sell, this is the place to go. read more

This Place is over priced,I brought items to be sold there, They told me I needed to clean the items and dust them,They have workers there standing around not doing a thing. I recently lost my dad, and was faced with the sad and daunting task of moving an entire one bedroom condo of beautiful furniture and collectibles. I went to Liz at New Beginnings as I had been to her store before and believed her to be an honest and trustworthy businesswoman. I could not have been more wrong!! I showed her pictures of a beautiful Thomasville Cherry Bedroom set, and she said she was interested in seeing it. We made arrangements to meet last Tuesday at dads condo. I left work EARLY to assure that I would be there on time, texted her that I was there...no response. Waited an hour, texted again, no response, after 3 hours I sent a text asking for a courtesy text to tell me if she was still interested in the set, got NOTHING. I thought that was rude and insensitive, it takes a second to answer a text. Will not ever step foot in her store again, and have told everyone I know how rudely I was treated! I should have known when I originally spoke to her about the items, she was more interested in greeting the customers walking in, and walking away from me over and over while we discussed business. (There were other workers in her store that could have greeted customers). Guess she doesn't understand the concept of "a bird in the hand".......Good Luck Liz, but you have lost a customer, and perhaps many more!! read more

Don't waste your time. They want New prices for Used stuff. The owners and the people who work there think they are working at Harrods's of London and look down their noses at you. They think their time is more important than your time. I don't get it. read more

What a great treasure. You walk in the door, with "Hi. Is this your first time here?" Liz was so warm and welcoming that you'd think that it was her home and her furniture she was selling. I will definitely be back when I need something else to go into my new home. read more

This store is great! I am in the process of furnishing my first apartment and New Beginnings was my first stop. The prices are reasonable and you can get unique items, not cookie-cutter furniture that everyone else has from a showroom or from a box. You can tell it is carefully curated and each piece has been selected with the customer in mind. Liz is wonderful (as well as her staff). Everyone is friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend you take a trip to this store! I went back twice in one weekend. :) read more

I have been in the shop on 3 separate occasions since it opened. Each time I found that it was well organized, clean and had a nice selection. I ended up empty handed each time because I felt their merchandise was very overpriced. Some of these things you can find on craigslist or even yard sales in the same condition for 1/10th of the price or better. Other things you could drive down to the Christmas Tree shop and get the same items of similar quality for better prices. Every now and then you find a gem that you may want to splurge on but I found them a little to costly for me. read more

Wow, what a store. We were looking for something specific which we have been unable to locate, which we still do not have. We stopped in here expecting the worst, but what the heck, it was a less than perfect Saturday of a 3 day weekend. This place is amazing. It is MUCH bigger than we expected, and is jammed packed with amazing furniture and lots of other things, all in pristine condition. We ended up buying an amazing upholstered chair, which I suppose would be called a slipper chair. The fabric is not only lovely, but absolutely perfect. It has a long skirt on it and even the legs underneath, which you can't even see, are in brand new condition. This lovely piece cost all of $102! Make sure you have time to really browse, or you will miss a lot of great stuff. They also have a discount program, and helped us put our purchase in the car. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful. This was our first, and certainly not last, visit, especially if I can't stop thinking about that mirror although I don't know where I will put it. read more
