Our living room & family room upholstered furniture needed a face lift. The fabric had seen its day but the Ethan Allen quality that we had bought years ago was still very robust & better than today's furniture. The decision to re-upholster rather than buy new was easy to make & working with Ace was also an easy decision. They have been in business in the same location for as long as we can remember & have an excellent reputation. We selected the fabric for the different pieces & detailed specifications, then left for a warmer climate for the winter. As we finalized our return, we contacted Ace for delivery & they were able to deliver the day after we returned. Fantastic!!! So far so good but it gets better. The pieces look great. We went to Ace in November to ask about getting our dining room chairs reupholstered. We were greeted by Francis, the owner. We told him we were going away February, March and that is when we wanted to have them done. He said no problem you can drop the chairs off before you go and pick them up when you return. He was very helpful showing us many different styles of fabric to pick from and we were able to bring them home to decide. We picked a fabric and returned to the showroom. This time we were greeted by Kim. She was very helpful and knowledgeable as well. We dropped off the chairs the end of January. We had to return early from our trip. I called Ace and spoke to Kim and asked if by chance the chairs were done that, we had to return a Month early. She said she would try to get them. Well Ace came through for us Francis called about a week or two later and told us our chairs were ready to pick up. I told him I couldn't get there today. Francis asked if anyone would be home and that he could deliver them!!! They delivered the six dining room chairs within an hour. The chairs are not good, they are STUNNING!!! The owner of this place saved himself! I took a furniture cover here that needed a zipper replaced. I explained what it needed and dropped it off. When I go to pick it up, it was wrongly sewn. The owner came out, took it in the back and fixed the problem in 15 minutes. Not bad. I was going to dock stars as a service girl there that waited on me was not the friendliest car in the lot and was more interested in having me pay, than listening to my problem. Conveniently located off Route 97 (southbound side) is Ace Upholstery. Pull into the parking lot along the right side of the building and up the front stairs to be greeted by very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The chances of being greeted by the owner, Francis J. Moreau, is likely. I first came to Ace Upholstery as a recommendation by a friend who I had a discussion with regarding an antique motorcycle seat that was uncomfortable to sit on but irreplaceable. Ace added a gel pad to both rider and co-rider sections, then during stitching, repaired a couple areas that needed repair in the leather. The seat will not need to be replaced now that Ace has fixed the problem - which was difficult to sit on for long periods of time. After the motorcycle seat was repaired, we dropped off a heavy lounge chair, one that would be changed from cloth to leather. The final product was outstanding and a brand new chair for more than half the cost it would take to replace new. Once having done that, we moved on with the dining room chair seats to replace the pads and beef up the seating. Ace received all 6 chairs the week before Thanksgiving and completed with plenty of time. I also had a section on the leather seat in my truck that was tearing, driver's side. Ace took my truck for less than half a day and repaired the area, along with repairing the foam edges underneath the leather. I highly recommend Ace Upholstery!! read more

We chose Ace Upholstery to reupholster a boudoir couch originally purchased in 1978. The work included multiple pillows, skirting, all new batting, etc. Francis examined the piece and said it was of very high quality and well worth the investment. At the same time, he looked at a few other pieces of furniture and gave us honest answers on what was well constructed and worth additional investment, and what was not. We have had Ace Upholstery do a number of pieces for us, most recently four round leather hassocks to slip under our large coffee table. He created them from scratch, making each of them perfectly so they could be foot stools, or used as occasional tables for food and drink. Francis is a true craftsman and deeply respects and understands fine furniture construction. He has a massive fabric selection in his showroom and is most helpful in finding the perfect swatch. THANK YOU!!!! The stitching on my drivers seat had come loose. My husband took the seat apart and brought it to a place in Hooksett and was told it would take 1-2 weeks to stitch up. AND they wanted to charge me $225.00. I called Ace Upholstery to see if they could get it done sooner and for less money and they were able to get it done right away and only charged me $28.00. I took a damaged couch cushion to be repaired to Ace. After I checked out with a very nice staff member, the owner came out to the parking lot to catch me before I left. He noticed that I lived about 30 minutes away and offered to do the work right away so I didn't have to come back!!!! Are you kidding, AMAZING service. I of course said yes and 15 minutes later I had my repaired (beautifully by the way) cushion. And then, ready for this, he didn't charge me. There was a crack developing on the driver's seat in my car, I wanted to find a local upholsterer and so I ended up coming to Ace Upholstery. Couldn't be happier with the work: it was prompt, done on time, and priced fairly. The bonded leather they ordered for my repair matches the rest of the seat in both grain and color. The owner, Francis, is a wonderful person to work with and makes sure you're happy through-and-through until the end. His son works on the automotive repairs and spent his time with me, looking through different books and comparing swatches, to make sure that the repair would be done right the first time. His wife does window treatments and furniture and her quality of work (from what I saw after receiving a short tour) is astounding. Money was hardly mentioned and I definitely felt like there was more interest in my problems rather than my wallet. Exceptional Service! I drove an hour and a half to get to Ace Upholstery based on the Yelp reviews that I had read. My dog had chewed through the corner of a Stickley recliner's seat cushion. I wanted an upholsterer who had expertise with leather: that's why I was willing to go out of my way. Stickley furniture is expensive and I knew that trying to replace a single cushion would likely cost several hundred dollars. Frank, the owner, could not have been more accommodating. He actually did the repair while I grabbed lunch (at a place he recommended). The repair looks fabulous, the price was right and the dog is going to live to see another day. A happy ending to a potentially costly story. This shop has more fabric samples than I've ever seen in an upholstery store. While it might mean renting a U-haul to bring in entire pieces of furniture, seriously, I'm going to do it. read more

I can't say enough good things about this company. I bought a very expensive sectional from a well name store two years ago. It was delivered with lumpy cushions and they tried to fix it twice and it has never felt or look good. My husband had to sit with a small pillow behind his neck. I had 2 couches that were well made and SUPREMELY comfortable, however the upholstery was in bad shape and my wife hated covers. After moving from VA to NH and not finding new couches that we are nice as the ones I already had, I called Francis at Ace Upholstery in Salem. He picked up the couches and I stopped by ACE and selected the chocolate brown microfiber fabric. I stopped into the shop once to check progress as I was curious what the furniture looked like without skin, the team showed me them and how they reinforced an already strong unit to make them even better. Eight weeks later I have my couches back and I have to say these things look better than they did when I bought them 18 years ago! They made me matching throw pillows on top of an awesome job. I called there and spoke with a nice man about reupholstering 2 chairs for me, and I put the chairs in my car and went there. I heard good things about this place so I was excited to be picking out fabric and creating new chairs! . I went in and told the girl why I was there when she abruptly said its going to cost you 275 each. I was taken back a little thinking I didn't even choose the fabric yet! So I said "275? I only paid $130 for the chair!" Then I was insulted by her when she rudely commented " I can tell". So much for that business, guess my furniture isn't good enough. They delivered the quality I expected.They did not stick to their time line (off by a couple of weeks), and their in-store leather samples didn't match what they could actually obtain (forcing extra calls to the leather supplier for stock checking) This may be commonplace because leather is made in lots, but still it was a nuisance. For people considering upholstery, please know that it is not cheap. Not at all. Choose to upholster items you can't cheaply replace, antiques, heirlooms, things with great bones. My fiance and I were in the market for a new boat seat for our boat as we lost ours. We had been to a couple of places to try and find someone who could recreate the seat from scratch to look exactly like our other one. After we visited some places I was scared to give it to anyone, the places we saw were dirty, unprofessional and the people were rude. That is until we heard about Ace Upholstery through a friend who had gotten his boat done here. We traveled down to Salem and the minute we walked through the door I knew this was the place. The store was clean and professional and the staff was amazing! We met with a young man Julian who was the owners son. He took care of the automotive and boating. He said no problem that he would be able to recreate the seat. We left the other seat there with him and went on our way. 2 weeks later we got the call that the seat was done. The seat was more then we could have ever wanted. When we walked in I couldn't even tell which was the old seat. We are SO impressed with the level of professionalism and attention to detail that Julian put into our seat, everything, down to the strap to buckle the seat down was the exact same. We couldn't be happier with the work that he did. He is a very talented young man who takes pride in his work.
