I've always loved the Pottery Barn aesthetic and have furnished much of my Maine home with their beautiful pieces. The Maine store has consistently impressed me with its friendly, helpful staff and great service. Unfortunately, my experiences at the Salem location have been quite different. The store itself is gorgeous, but the customer service leaves much to be desired. I've visited three times, and despite the store not being busy, no one greeted me or offered assistance. On my most recent visit, I waited at the checkout while one employee helped another customer. Several others saw me waiting but made no effort to help. When I was finally assisted, the staff member's attitude was dismissive and unhelpful. I ended up going to Crate & Barrel in Burlington instead, where I was warmly welcomed and received thoughtful decorating advice. read more

Ordered a dream deluxe recliner that is less than 1 year old. Power adapter stopped working. Called customer service and they gave me a delivery estimate 5 months from now. Called back to get order expedited. It has now been 5 weeks and 6 additional calls and I STILL DO NOT EVEN HAVE A TRACKING NUMBER. Terrible quality and even worse customer service (including the supervisor who couldn't do anything to help). Avoid purchasing from these folks unless you want thousands of dollars stolen from you. read more

What I like... - nothing at this location Why I would be embarrassed... - been here twice, not busy, and not a single employee welcomed us, made eye contact, asked if we needed help - employee dress code includes dirty/torn jeans, yoga pants, old tennis shoes - so many items on risers, making them impossible to sit on. This specific store is a hot mess. It's pouring rain and cold and they have the doors wide open. Customers are saying out loud that they're cold. Not an enjoyable shopping experience when you're shopping for overpriced goods in the cold. The workers are always SO unfriendly. No one says hello. They cater only to the people who are coming in to spend big. I miss the mall store and workers. They were always so nice and helpful. Every-time I come here it makes me realize why Amazon maybe be my new place to shop. The prices are over the top and the quality of items have tanked. I don't mind spending for nice things, but I also expect good service and quality product. You're lacking in both. Not just one visit, but many now. I think I'm done. read more

The showroom is lovely, but the sales people are terrible. I've been in recently and I felt as though I was bothering them when I asked for help. I thought they were just inpatient due to a bad day. I went back again and had the same lousy experience. They do an injustice to the customers along with Pottery Barn. Having been in sales, they must certainly lose sales for their location for sure! I'm heading out to the Lynnfield location later this week, and I hope I have a better experience there or I'll never step foot in another Pottery Barn or suggest one of my clients to purchase from there again. Was looking for a new couch. I found the Turner online so came to this store to try it. Spent a lot of time with swatches and styles and depth. In the end we ordered the narrow depth for a chair and a couch. After waiting 8 weeks I got a narrow chair and a deep couch. I verbally confirmed the depth multiple times with the sales person and she acknowledged but the receipt doesn't include depth. After multiple back and forths I was told the couch only comes in the deep depth. I never would have ordered it. It's also really uncomfortable. Maybe in a year when it softens it will be better but right now it's miserable. It was also expensive and their customer service is horrible. One person says we made a mistake and will give you a refund. The next says no that's denied. A third says we will give you a $700 credit but it voids your warranty and sends a link to a furniture repair place that they keep saying if you accept the refund for our mistake you have to pay. So now I'm stuck with mismatched furniture. Shop somewhere else. You'll be a lot happier. read more

The management team lead by Cheryl are a bunch liars. I had an item sent to be picked up there was damaged one time then when we came to pick up a replacement after 3 months of waiting we were told there wasn't someone who could help us load our replacement order on a Saturday afternoon. After talking to the general manager and them agreeing to ship the order they called 4 days later refusing to ship it and make it right in store. We were told to go to customer service. After calling customer service I was told the reason they refused to ship it (because the bar cart had marble) was in true. Don't waste your time with this place. This is about the "white glove delivery." They came an hour before the scheduled window, never called or texted me, and delivered a HUGE box with glass in the garage. They got my teenage son to sign a "do not set up waiver." They told my son they couldn't get the box in the house. HA! Then they took off. It's pretty clear they did everything they could to avoid actually setting up the glass coffee table. When I tried to get them to come back, they had zero interest in making it right. I expect Corporate Leadership at some point will scold them, but I don't trust the delivery service one bit to set up the coffee table correctly-- so I'm returning it. Like some of the other reviews said, I wouldn't have anything delivered. You need napkins? PB is fine. For big ticket items I wouldn't trust them at all. read more

As much as I actually do like Pottery Barn, the more I think about it, it's really a higher quality Pier 1. If you are looking for decorative items to "spruce" up a room. You can get that base covered here. The items are designed to look like they are "vintage" or old, but they are all brand new. Some of the items you can find in a river. However, if you feel like spending $12 for a bag of rocks. Swing on by! Not to sound like I'm only putting it down. Most of the stuff there is of really good quality. The bracketless shelving is strong and durable. The accent rug we have is holding up quite nicely. And most of the other sundry items work and/or still look good. read more

Modern farmhouse decor, very chic but with a price tag. This is the kind of place where you would furnish your house completely, should you find yourself winning the lottery. We were visiting to return a defective product (a fireplace screen that would fall over randomly). Nancy within the store seemed very disinterested in our issue with the product and informed us that she could only qualify us for store credit but couldn't give us the credit nor refund our purchase since it was an online order. Overall I like the style of products, but for such a high class store, I anticipated a high class customer experience and did not recieve that. read more

My home is my castle, my nest, my area in which to disappear from the world into a sea of comfort, not just in furniture but in decor, color, vibe, feng shui. For this I turn to Pottery Barn. Why? Well, when some people turn to modern and angular, I turn to rough hewn and warm. I love the look of shaker furniture, planks of wood lashed together with massive cast iron bolts, and their bracketless shelving? Gorgeous. Oh and did I mention their candles? Expensive, perhaps but lightly scented with the perfect texture to just make an impression. Subtle. I love subtle. What else? There's more you ask? Oh yes, there;'s more. What says relaxing and old-fashioned like lanterns, and do they have a collection! Oh? you wanted tea light candle holders with a hanging magnifying glass for extra effect? CHECK! Seriously, can they come out with something I *don't* want? Ok, there is a downside. Buyer beware on some of their furniture pieces. Some of it is solid wood. . .some of it. . .well, isn't. If you're going to buy a piece that's about to get a ton of use, check to make sure it's not a veneer. That aged piece doesn't look as awesomely aged when it's got a 1" ding in it from little tommy playing fire trucks on top. That aside, I love this place, the sights, the sounds, the towels (oh yeah the towels! LOVE EM!!) It's a Pottery Barn, you kind of know what to get, expensive home decor that you love. The service was friendly, they prolly would have been helpful, if i knew what i wanted instead of me just aimlessly meandering around. Why the 2 stars? I got 4 wine glasses (Montana collection, super nice, super modern), and the cashier, had the stock room bring the glasses from the back. I got home, and they gave me a chipped wine glass. It was on the base, but pretty significant. I expected them to check for that kind of thing. I checked my bag and to see if the chip was in there. (To see if I did in transport) No luck, the store sent me off with a chipped wine glass now I have to go back to get it replaced. I hope they don't give me a hard time! So the lesson learned? Check your glassware and plates, and such before they wrap it up! read more

i called late, around 9PM to ask some questions about some of the sofas I saw online, and they were just closing but the lady I talked to was SUPER helpful. Her name was Leann haha! Anyway she was in a super good mood as if she'd just had breakfast and had a pleasant drive to work(not about to close up shop), even though they were already closed for the night! awesome! so I wanted to buy a couch i saw online and asked a million questions(she was so cool and didn't mind at all haha!) and found out some cool ways to save myself some dough on a couch. decided on a PB Square on sale, with an ottoman, and total came to 500 cheaper than what I was expecting to spend. This review is for all Pottery Barn stores as I called several with the same concern. You can order any large piece of furniture at their stores, but they will only deliver it to your home. This is all well and good but, the shipping is exorbitant and, there is a $100 or more surcharge; which by definition means a burden. They aren't kidding! This added almost $400 to the price of an "On Sale" item. While I do understand that holding large items for pickup requires storage space, Pottery Barn would do well to reconsider, and would possibly increase their sales, ESPECIALLY that excessive surcharge! read more
