Daughter was coming into town for the holidays (she's away at college) and we needed to get her an eye exam while she's home. I filled out the online request for an appointment and didn't hear anything for two days. I finally called and after six or seven attempts (and one voicemail) got someone to answer the phone I typically go to Temple Vision source but they had no appointments available, so the appointment desk suggested that we look into the Belton office. They had an appointment available and so we scheduled it. We arrived about 10 minutes prior to her appointment so that my daughter could fill out her paperwork. As soon as we walked in the front desk clerk (Ashlyn?) Was very rude and snotty. Even the tone of her voice was hateful. She asked my daughter what kind of contacts she wore, and my daughter being put on the spot had a brain fart and said oh just regular contacts. She then got even more hateful and started throwing them around a whole bunch of terms that my daughter had no idea what she was talking about. I jumped in and started answering the questions for her because my 19yr old was confused. The way that she talked down to me was insulting. She then handed my daughter the new patient forms and my daughter glanced at me and asked if I wanted to help fill them out. The receptionist then said "she's an adult she can fill them out". My daughter is BARELY an adult and the receptionist has NO idea why my daughter needed help filling it out. She was extremely rude. So much so that I'll just stick with driving all the way to downtown Temple just to avoid dealing with her. (Even listening to her interact with people on the phone - she was just as hateful) Belton eye care center - your receptionist is the face of your business. And having her on staff isn't good for your face. Now - well I wasn't in with her during the actual exam, my daughter said that the doctor was very polite, nice, helpful, and explained everything to her in terms that she could understand. When it was time to discuss her prescription and ordering glasses - David was extremely helpful and Nice. A great person to work with. This review is three stars, and as someone else mentioned in earlier review.... yes the front desk attitude can cause my review to go from a five star to a three star. Ashlyn - I'm not sure why you aren't more customer service oriented or what happened to you this morning to make your day seem crappy and cause you to take it out on new customers. DO NOT GO TO THIS eye doctor. I know its local, convenient, just do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Every single time our daughter has either been seen there or refilled her contacts it has been an issue. They abide by the rules on some days and some days they do whatever they want. I have picked up a paper copy of my daughter's eye prescription; I personally did this. Now it is "oh that is not in line with HIPPA, so we only go by the rules when it is convenient for them. No appointments for 3 months. That is wild to me. Every time we need contacts they don't have them, they will order them. They take payment in advance because why not right, 3 weeks go by no call no contacts, I call and they say "oh sorry the girl never placed the order, so you took my money and did nothing and now it will be another 2-3 weeks. I continue to give them the benefit and again it is local to Belton. Not one time have we had a great experience. NOT ONE TIME. The taking my payment and not ordering them happened 2 different times. Each time the girl at the desk gets rude with me. They have a turnover rate like you have never seen. You will never go in and see the same person. If I could give them zero stars I would! I went in ( new patient) they got me same day. The contact prescription he had written and was going to send me out with was incorrect, so he found a contact that would work. Then, they only had one of those in stock so they could not send me out with my new prescription of contacts. They said the would order them and call me when they came in. I called a week later and they had not even placed the order. They told me they would order them that day and call me when they came in. I called again several days later and she said oh yea, they are here. I can set you up another appointment... ok, I love an hour away and will be in town on Tuesday ( literally all I had to do was put the contacts in and make sure they are good) she said well he wants another appointment and we don't have an opening until Jan 30th! read more

Rating 0 stars This clinic was sold to VSP. They now have a combined 20 min exam that includes some kind of combined eye test and Dr exam. I wanted a thorough eye exam not a 20 minute slot rush job. Was told today that we would not be allowed to place another order for contacts because my daughter's Rx over the last 11 months "isn't valid." Being she's not delinquent on her exam, options should have been provided to ensure she would run out of her contacts until her annual exam was scheduled (week from now.) I was met with rudeness, sarcasm and was hung up on twice after being told "the conversation is over." Will be moving business elsewhere after 4 years and will NOT be recommending. read more

I called to see about getting an appointment. Prior to getting an appointment their Automated system required me to put in my DOB. It recognized me. I could not remember what the name of the company was prior but I had a bad experience with a location in the past in Belton. It's likely them. They were bought out. I asked what the name was of the company prior. The person answering refused to answer the question. Stated only worked there since June. I said does anyone else know what it was called. She said yes. I asked her to ask them. She again replied her company bought out the prior company. The location is owned by VSP. I asked her if she was avoiding answering me and she she repeated herself. She was clearly avoiding the question. She then said she was ending the call. I agree the explanation of insurance benifits were not explained to the patient however I would recommend the clinic since the patient care, front desk and fitting were above average for customer care and service. I would not recommend blue blockers unless you work at a computer as your primary duty or played Call of Duty. read more

I would like to publically commend Dr. Nizar for an excellent job! I have a nevus (like a freckle) in the right eye that Dr. Nizar found concerning enough to refer me to a specialist at BS&W. He compared last year's scan with this year and showed me the difference. Due to the best testing available to him, the doctor at BS&W diagnosed it as malignant melanoma and he referred me to Austin Retina Associates the same day. We went to Austin yesterday and even more extensive testing was done. Dr. Dhafoori determined that it is not melanoma, but rather a choroidal hemangioma--not cancer. Because Dr. Nizar followed through, and the doctor at BS&W did the same, I was able to quickly get the correct diagnosis. It all started with Dr. Nizar and I am grateful for his diligence. I recently had a terrible experience at Belton Vision. The opticians, the staff doing the fitting for glasses, seemed annoyed and uninterested in assisting me and discussing insurance policy questions. When I returned with a follow-up question on my receipt, one of the customer support "professionals" made eye contact with me and immediately looked away, ignoring me altogether. She did not even want to help me and told her colleague, thinking I would not pick up on the message. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and customer service at Belton Vision and will not be returning until they make some changes. I'd drive to Austin before walking into Belton Vision again. The front desk support, assistants to the optometrist, and optometrists were great, though!! *** ABSOLUTELY STAY AWAY*** My husband has been going here for years for personal and work/safety prescription eyeglasses. We're not sure if ownership has changed, policy, or staff, but they have been "working" on my husband's glasses for 5 months now. 5 MONTHS. That is almost half a year. You cannot reach them via phone. You can literally call this place 30-40 times a day. They will not answer. My husband works an average of 56-80 hours a week, including weekends. He cannot get the status of his glasses and cannot go in on a whim due to his work schedule. The automated system advises you to schedule online, rings 6-7 times and goes to voice mail. Whenever he has went in (and got turned away for being a walk in after 4pm) he said there were 3-4 staff sitting around and maybe one client waiting. Why can't anyone answer the phone? Avoid this place if you value your time, money, and have ANY shred of self-respect. Do not subject yourself to this. We are both furious. I don't go on the internet to leave reviews, ever. Key take aways: - They will not answer the phone - Staff is rude and disinterested - They make it extremely difficult to get your prescription information so you can take your business elsewhere. read more

Some been waiting on my glasses for a month and wasn't told until I went in to find out if they have came in after I got the notice for my sons glasses got in after a week and a half. So I cancelled the glasses and ask if I could get the money that I paid out of pocket back In cash on Tuesdays April 4, so I didn't have to wait on the bank stuff. they said no but it will be available and I could call my bank and they should be able to release the funds to me. so I called the bank April 6 and the refund has still not been started at all. I have also called in insurance and the same but they have tried to call them and no response from them to the insurance as well. I have call and left messages on the voicemail but no respons. Our previous doctor retired so my husband and I decided make appointments at the Belton Vision Center and although there was a bit of a wait for new patient appointments, we had an excellent first time experience. Our exams were thorough and the staff seemed knowledgeable, friendly and efficient with special thanks going to Martin who was especially helpful and patient when listening and assisting us with orders for glasses. read more

Have seen two eye doctors (elderly man, younger female) and they both seem really attentive and like they know their stuff. The girls who help with the glasses - always helpful and friendly. My down vote goes to their front desk staff. I've been there 8 times over the past four years (appointment and then to get contacts/glasses) and probably 7 of the 8 times I'd describe the receptionist as being rude and really unfriendly. It's odd because it isn't just the same person. I went recently and it was somebody I'd never seen before - and she was not pleasant or friendly at all. I guess friendly customer service isn't something they value. Why downgrade them just because of a poor front desk group? Yes, the eye doctor is the most important reason to go there. But it's lame to spend 400-500 bucks and have the receptionist treat you like you are annoying her. There are lots of eye doctors in the temple/belton/waco area, I can take my $500 a year to a different one. read more

When I booked the appointment I have my insurance info. They do not tell me to be there 10 minutes before but I guess it mentioned on the very long text that I did not read. When I got here for my appointment they said they could not confirm me and pretty much to call my insurance and I would have to come back another day. As far as I know they should be the ones calling insurance to confirm. Her solution was to pay for my exam that is included with my insurance. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER trying to get an appointment. First, Why do you have a link on your website to schedule an appointment if you NEVER call the client to do so(Tried 3 time and I was never contacted). Secondly when you ask for a client's insurance, why would you schedule them with the ONE doctor at the clinic that is NOT in network? Thirdly, Why wait until the day before the appointment to tell the client that they are not in network? I now have to burn a vacation day for NOTHING because its too late to change it. This place is not professional! They have had my mother's glasses for over a month. The glasses came back one time and they were not made correctly. After my mother returned them to have them re-done, she never heard from them again. She has been calling and calling and gets vague answers about the glasses not being in. My sister called and they told her that they did not have my mother's name in the system nor did she know anything about the status of her glasses. I agree with the previous reviews that this is the most unprofessional business I have encountered in a very long time. The lady at the check in desk was so rude and unprofessional. Last month we arrived 10 minutes before our appointment, filled out the paperwork and turned it back in. At 5 after our appointment we asked if the doctor was running behind and the lady snapped back that they had someone call out. The person I was with then commented that our appointment was at 11 and it is now after that time and she snapped "well that person right there has been waiting since 10:40". Not sure how that was relevant to our appointment and we felt bad for him. The person I was with, not appreciating the tone she was using, then stated "well I guess you guys should step it up". We turned to sit down again and at that point she snapped again and in a louder voice said "we can reschedule your appointment ". We stated no we will keep our appointment. She then stood up and lend over her desk and snapped even louder "we can even cancel your appointment, do you want to cancel". Needless to say we got through our appointment and the optometrist was very nice. Ordered glasses and were told it would be three weeks. Three weeks came and went and no phone call. Called multiple times and no answer so left a voicemail. Never a call back. Their voicemail message says they will "call you back at their earliest convenience " which appears to translate into never. We will never spend our money at this location again. They have lost four customers and we have shared out experience with friends and family letting anyone who asks about a good eye glass place know not to go there unless you like extremely rude customer service. My husband and I have BCBS insurance for eye care. I went on the Anthem website and used the Find a Doctor tool to find a doctor in my network. Several optometrists came up under my network at Belton Eye Care Clinic and I made sure they accepted my insurance. I made appointments for us for the first available,which was about 3 weeks out. I gave them all our insurance information when I called and made the appointment. Two days before the appointment, Mikayla called my husband and told him our insurance wasn't accepted there. I assured her it was and went to the trouble of finding any other names our eye insurance could be under. She treated me as if I was inconveniencing HER and was incredibly condescending. I wound up canceling our appointments because Mikayla INSISTED that we weren't covered there, even though BCBS says we were. I called back today to speak to them again and all of a sudden they discover that we actually ARE covered there and they DO accept my insurance...but they've given away our appointment slots and can't get us in until August. We decided to take our business to an Optometrist in Harker Heights whose staff is accommodating, kind, and helpful. Don't waste your time or money. read more

I was able to get into see Dr. Waggoner the same afternoon I had arrived for a morning appointment and was told Dr. Weaver was running behind. I was off that day and had a lot to get done. I was pleasantly surprised that Dr. Waggoner was nice and thorough, listened to my concerns about my vision change since the last visit, and recommended that I increase my prescription in my right lens. That was the reason my eyes were feeling tired by the end of the day, she explained. When I left I did get a bid for replacing the lenses in my current frames (not that old), and was shocked by the price for progressive lenses. So I will not be using their optic shop for my glasses. But I do live in Belton and appreciate the convenience of obtaining good optometrist evaluation. read more

They do not answer their phones at all. I called so many times throughout the day trying to get someone on the phone to answer my questions and set an appointment. I finally went down there to make an appointment and the phone was ringing over and over with 2 people sitting by the phone neither of them were busy there was nobody in the waiting room and they didn't even attempt to answer the phone they did not even glance over at. I told them that I had been calling trying to get an appointment with no call back and no answer from them and asked why no one answers the phones the old woman said they were very busy and it's none of my business why we don't answer the phone I told her that I wanted to know because I had been trying to contact them she stood up put her hands up and said I just can't I just can't and walked away. I told them that the not answering the phone seems like a very big problem due to all the reviews I read saying they will not call back or answer the phone and ask if there was a supervisor or somebody in charge they said know the supervisor was on maternity leave and there was no one there in charge and that the doctor was on lunch. The eye doctor that I have seen since '96 has been out for extended convalescence due to illness, so I was looking for someone to temporarily meet my eyecare needs. I found Belton Eye Care through Yelp reviews and was not disappointed!! First off, the office is clean, clean, clean and well organized. The tech who performed my pre-assessment was thorough and knowledgable. Dr. Waggoner was awesome!! She discussed all of my concerns and made me feel truly like a patient, not an "appointment slot". I was really excited to establish a relationship with a highly recommended eye doctor for my family but didn't get that chance due to your unhelpful, argumentative office staff. A call-center worker made a scheduling error, booking both of our appointments at 10:30. We have 4 text messages proving this. We were scheduled under our last name together and were repeatedly told by the office staff that we were late for our 10:10 appointment when in fact, we were early as it was supposed to be 10:30. Although we were offered to keep the 10:30 appointment for one of us, we declined service as we are quite frankly offended for being made out to be liars. I am very disappointed that I waited weeks for this appointment so my family could establish care with a local eye doctor when I could have gone to America's Best much sooner and have been treated much better. I understand mistakes happen on both sides but the customer is not always in the wrong and customer SERVICE should still be top priority in any business. Be helpful to your clients and try listening because, believe it or not, sometimes it's the company that makes the mistake. read more

Of my 15 years of wearing glasses and contacts I've never found a more professional, inexpensive place to get my eyes checked. They were courteous and didn't seem to try and rush you out to get the next person in. Their technology seems much more advanced than any other place I've been. When you're asked to read the letters on the chart they don't keep the letters the same so that you can cheat. I've seemed to always have a slight problem with one eye and every time I mention they wanna test for me glaucoma etc. Never had any of those issues and the tests always came back negative. However at this clinic he diagnosed me with a very minor astigmatism. Nothing that changes my vision drastically so that was up to me to get a prescription for it. After all that time, that's what it was. It was nice to finally hear something about it without having to say anything cause honestly I have up on doing that. Thank you, Belton Eye Care Center! Unfortunately it may be my first and last appointment seeing as I'll be moving in a few months. read more
