We visited the first week they opened and the food was great. I had the curry chicken salad and my husband had the grilled salmon salad. Both were prepared well. I love this place. I just went here for dinner three nights in a row. I had family come visit and they requested we goo all three nights....that's saying a lot. Food is delicious. LOTS of gluten free options. I'm not sure if anything on the menu can't be made gluten free... Their fountains drinks are all made with cane sugar. None of that high fructose corn snot. Dinners average about $20 a person including a massive dessert and drink. This is an order and seat yourself place (they give you a number and bring the order to your table) - so don't expect full service. During busier times it can get crowded but people move along fast. To be 100% honest I would eat here every day if: 1. they reopened the montrose location 2. I had unlimited monies. read more

Sunday night...been on a strict diet. Need cake. Need cake now. Regular dessert places are closed Sunday after 5. I've never been to Ruggles Green - we've always meant to try it, just haven't yet. It was just a dessert to go, so I didn't really have expectations either way. It's blazing hot outside, so the Tres Leches cake sounded good. The place was packed - that ought to say something, not to mention the half a dozen people there to pick up to go orders. It was so busy, I didn't see the tip jar, so after I left, I felt bad figuring I had to have just missed it. I doubled back and found it in front of the registers - I think they must have just moved it for a second to empty it, because it was empty when I went back to put something in, and I'm glad I did - they deserve tips! Everyone working was extremely friendly, especially considering there was a line almost out the door, they were already packed and I just had a little dessert order. I got home and discovered it was not only delicious, but they packaged it with 5 star presentation...just beautifully in the little to go container. A side of delicious fruit coulis, mint leaf, beautiful carved chocolate and a very generous portion. If a to go piece of cake is done this well, I can't wait to go back for dinner! Oh. My. Goodness. The 'Oh Kale Yes!' salad, is phenomenal. And I am far from vegan. The textures and flavors create a satisfying and healthy meal even for a carnivore. Can't wait to go back! The food here is good but the service needs to be better managed. Twice in the last couple of months I've ordered the Atlantic salmon salad to go and twice they've sent me out with the wrong order. Once it was a completely different salad containing items I'm allergic to, and this weekend they left the salmon completely out of the salad. When I called to tell them about the errors, both times they refused to deliver the corrected items. We had to drive all the way back to correct their mistake, twice. If you find the osso buco on the menu (it is usually a special) do not think it will be the shank. I am not sure where they got it, but they include a lamb chop instead. They also insist that this is the osso buco. They also claim they have a risotto with it, but it is basically a soup with rice in it. The pizza, while better than delivery, is still awful. It is amazing how they can mess up a pizza when they have such wonderful oven. They insist on putting slices of mozzarella over the shredded cheese base. And they call their their kitchen healthy. read more

I was very unhappy with my experience at Ruggles Green in the Heights. Went there with a friend for lunch May 23. HATED IT, HATED IT, HATED IT Parking is awful with small lots and hard to get out of as you back up to cars and people or even into the street! Ordering process and order-taker, the food, the ambience, the service was all awful. I absolutely hated the entire thing and will never go back there again. I waited in line to order; they took some time getting on 2 additional cashiers but they did and I got a guy at the end of the group. He was not actually rude but he was impatient - like go faster, know what HE is doing and move on.... The small sitting area - I estimate about 40 people (this included ~8 tall stools at the front window) could sit there but not comfortably so the place was full with about 25 - 30 people. It was very loud, with adults and a number of children, some screaming for attention - not very conducive to our conversing. I ordered a turkey Reuben; it cost $11; the weak iced tea was $2.20 - too much!!! I expected a normal sized sandwich, grilled with a mound of sauerkraut and yumminess. Especially at this price; I can go many places around town and get a Reuben, full of yummy moist turkey and loaded with sauerkraut on some fab bread for about half this price and get beautiful sides as well. What I got was a sandwich, a mini sandwich. The bread was about an inch or more smaller than regular bread. The turkey was dry and tasted funny; it was not bad meat but did not taste right - I had to remove most of the scant amount of turkey that was on the sandwich in order to eat it. The sauerkraut was barely visible, there was so little of it. I had asked for the thousand island on the side. It was given to me on the side in a small plastic container with about 2 teaspoons in it. That may have been enough if I had not had to contend with the funny tasting, very dry turkey but it was not. I ordered the quinoa side and it was interesting and good but again, I received a very small container with a very small amount - about 2 tablespoons. My friend ordered the same as a side and received a small container as well that was about twice the size as mine. No one comes around to ask 'is it good; can I get you anything else?' I did not complain there because I did not think about doing so at the time mainly I think because some people get embarrassed by this and I did not want to make my friend uncomfortable. She had the fish tacos and liked them but again the food was sparse. read more

We went with a party of 10 at Sat. rush hour. The staff was terrific - pulled together the needed tables and chairs In a flash. We had a couple of elderly folks with us too. Menus and flatware on the tables in short order. I placed the orders and the food was delivered quickly, efficiently and correctly (a couple of minor glitches, easily fixed.) The out of towners as well as us Heights folks LOVED the food. Sweet potato fries were a big hit with the over 80 crowd! Something for every taste -very helpful for a crowd! Underwhelmed. Service was slow, and my eggs Benedict were hard-cooked and barely warm. To their credit, when I took my plate up, the staff was very nice. I got a new plate of eggs that were properly cooked pretty quickly. The potatoes offered as a side were very tasty, but maybe a little rich with this already rich dish. Excellent food and very food modification friendly. I'm dairy-free and have had several terrific meals modified with no issues. I particularly love their salads! Yum! If there's anything negative to say it's that the prices are high. But if you want good, fresh, organic food, I guess that's the payoff. read more

This is easily the most disappointed I've been in a while. I suppose my expectations were high as I'd heard only good things. The service was wonderful, and I love the concept and almost everything they had going on, but just not the food. I ordered the chicken tacos and I couldn't even finish one of them because I found a mysterious chewy plastic-like object in them. Upon examining it a while, I realized it was the bottom part of the stem of a bell pepper (the calyx?). After understanding that I wasn't in danger of eating plastic, I tried to resume eating the tacos, but the magic was lost and the reality of the bland and terrible tacos had set in and was all too real. I guessed that the reason the boiled stem of the bell pepper was in the tacos was because they appear to just blanch them. The chicken seemed to be boiled and shredded also, so there was little to no actual flavor there. I guess if you are looking for organic fare and you don't want to cook there are few choices. read more
