Don't Do It !!!! To say the service is bad ... Is an understatement .. I came in for brunch .. Was seated immediately and then waited for 15 minutes before deciding to flag down a waitress to get some water .. She said oh let me get "your" waitress .. Another five minutes go by ...She finally shows up .. "Oh has no one got your drink order" .. Ummm nope .. Ok let me get drinks started for you .. Bloody Marry's are $7.00 and mediocre at best .. (Seriously I'm being nice here) In the process of our 45 minute breakfast our server checked on us once .. And this place isn't even busy .. It's too bad as this place has potential the outdoor seating is awesome .. I do t think we will be back. Maybe one day I'll get my food and get to "yelp" about it! ... Still waiting .. Wait !!! It's here .. But but my order is completely wrong ... Yea never again !!! Manager claimed she would refund our breakfast ... Nope .. She gave us a 15 dollar gift card on a 40 dollar bill .. Daughter, granddaughter and I went there for breakfast since it was my granddaughter's last day of school and she was out early. We went to the counter and ordered one egg/ bacon bagel, two orders of French toast and a plate of breakfast potatoes...$47.00. The manager and a young employee served one plate of waffles,potatoes and the bagel. The bagel was not even warm. I took it in and heated it in the microwave inside and then it tasted pretty good. They said they would be back with a second plate of waffles. By this time at least 10 min went by. My daughter who ordered the waffles already had finished all the potatoes which she had wanted with her waffles. I went inside and asked are the waffles going to be delivered anytime soon? The manager checked with the cook who said he burnt the waffles. Manager said he could refund the money or have another waffle made for her. By this time we were almost done eating. The manager said he could make her another waffle so it took another 10 minutes and the waffle was delivered. This waffle was not even cooked properly when my daughter went to cut it. It literally just separated. My daughter said it was like eating air/nothing. Nothing like the waffles that my granddaughter had just eaten. The manager did refund half her money which was seven dollars for these expensive waffles that tasted awful but to me, he should've refunded the whole amount of the waffles. He did offer, but of course my daughter was hungry which is why we went there to eat. She had no idea they were going to come out as they did so something was definitely wrong here this morning. They did not even seem to care. It's not the first time of us eating at this restaurant, but certainly it will be the last time. read more

Sunday morning, 10:30. We arrived to find two people waiting in line to order. One cashier. Of about 20, or more tables inside, 7 were dirty with dishes, glasses, etc... The others were busy with patrons. Outside, most tables were full, however there some dirty tables. I grabbed an empty bus tub, from the bus station and bussed my own table. There was one young man struggling to bus tables and serve food, clearly overwhelmed. We've been coming to Bella Bru since it was opened years ago, but of late, the service has been lacking. Liz, is it a many of not being able to find good people who are willing to work, or is it a wage issue? Most of your patrons, including myself, wouldn't mind paying a little extra in order to keep the same good vibe, and service. I recently placed an order online for takeout and was extremely disappointed with my experience. The menu listed on the partner website used by the restaurant was not accurate and I received a different order than what I had intended to purchase. When I called to address the issue, the person I spoke with was rude and dismissive, and even implyed that I was lying about not receiving my drink. I have attached pictures to show the discrepancies In the menus. Both menus had the crab cakes but the sides are completely different. The one I wanted was jasmine rice NOT peppers. This was not hard at all to resolve, but the person I spoke with was too busy telling me I was wrong and a liar to help me. Overall, poor service and a disappointing experience. Liz M Owner does not care. Owner Liz M only responds to the 5-stars which I am amazed there are any to respond to. She never responds to reviews that are negative and never uses it as a learning experience to improver her business. Just crappy food for years without change. Way to go Liz M. Keep up the crappy food, service, and work. My star rating would be negative but it is required to submit. I have said I would never return to this place two times before. Shame on me. Good food in a relaxed and easy space. We came for our Christmas lunch and white elephant gift exchange. They don't take reservations for lunch but quickly accommodated our group of 12 and even let us use the bar for our gift exchange. A bit different from my regular location in Natomas as you order at the counter for lunch instead of having a server. That ended up working out in our favor for a group all going "Dutch." The cafe was busy and food was consistent with the Natomas location. Everyone was happy with their food and that says a lot with a large party. read more

Was in the area with a couple of friends and decided to try out Bella Bru Cafe -- it's pretty big inside and has an outside area where you can eat as well. I ordered the chocolate croissant and breakfast burrito. They have a microwave where I guess you could warm up the pastries -- not too much of a fan of that, I was hoping they could warm it up in an oven so that croissant wouldn't be soggy. Came to Bella Bru a few days ago. I was in the mood for café bruch kind of day. A few years ago I won a contest through FOX40 news, for a breakfast package worth $350 for the office and I remember it being pretty good. I thought the restaurant said Fair Oaks for the city but driving took me all the way through Carmichael? A little distant for me.Restaurant was semi-full and there was no line. Display cases of desserts adorned the entrance of the restautant and a nice low light ambiance gave a welcoming vibe. Food was ok, not blow me away , but decent & prices were a little on the high end. My teen had the clam chowder soup, I had a sandwich and we split a smoothie and a tart. My Partner, my Mom and I came here for brunch on a Tuesday. When we entered, I was pleasantly surprised to see a combination of: people working on their laptops, groups of people eating together, what looked to be a few business meetings and families with children. It is set up cafe style, but there's an awesome bar in the back with additional seating and booths. The Bartender was funny, sweet, sassy and knew the menu well. I had a delicious cafe au lait and later ordered a skirt steak salad. My partner had a burger and fries and my mom had a Turkey club. Everyone really enjoyed their food. It's been several years since I wrote this review and for a long time I refused to visit. But I know things can change, and we decided to try again, post-pandemic, with the hope that earlier issues might be sorted out. And, they are. Since our return we've been greeted by helpful staff and given correct orders in a timely fashion. We are patient people and sometimes there's only one waitstaff on duty at Luna Lounge, which is the area we prefer to visit. They are always kind and friendly and helpful, and even when they are busy they take good care of us in a reasonably timely fashion. That's all we really ask. No more dirty plates, wrong orders, or being ignored. I'm very happy to include Bella Bru and Luna Lounge in our list of places to visit again. read more

This place is a neighborhood favorite. Brought a business associate and she loved it too. I tend to order the mighty chicken salad and ask for the walnut bread. It's wonderful. Standard cafe and bakery that is always packed on weekends. I've only gone on weekends and it can be a bit hectic, but it's not hard to get a table. The selection of baked goods and breads look delicious and I enjoy their coffee, even if the service can be a bit sloppy in the making of the coffee. I love their salads and the huevos rancheros has delicious chorizo in it. My friend who got the quiche felt jealous, as my breakfast dish was definitely more bang for the buck. Besides it being pretty busy and some dishes only being decent, it's worth going to! read more

Cute little cafe. Limited menu potions unfortunately. Breakfast bagel is almost 10bucks w/ added bacon and cheese. Everything's good but not great. You feel good though after eating. Coffee is good and cakes are ok but look amazing. Definitely a staple for the area. Lots of regulars coming in and out. Nice outdoor seating as well. Staff is young and nice. Came on 9/5/2021 at 11am. Great place, large indoor and outdoor seating. Walk up order and take a seat where you would like. I got the Bella Bru French dip and it was delicious. It wasn't one of those sandwiches that pour juices out on every bite which is exactly what I like. For this sandwich you leveraged the Au jus sauce to get the perfect savory bite. They did have a mix up regarding Mimosa's to our table since the waiter took our food ordering number sign before the drinks came. After 15 minutes I had to ask what happened. Manager jump in and quickly helped. Not a big problem at all but it was the friendliness and quickness of the managers support that was phenomenal. This restaurant is not actively maintaining protective measures in light of COVID. There were two customers inside, not wearing masks. I asked the manager why they allowed that and she said that the owners didn't care about requiring people to wear masks. In addition, the food quality has really decreased over the years. I didn't want something heavy so I was just thinking of getting a slice of cake or something to drink but my friend wanted to eat. So we asked to be seated on one of their booths. I asked our server if they have a dessert or drinks menu and he told me to just go to the register and order food over there and asked me if I'm not eating anything other than that. ( I think it's in appropriate to ask and being a customer you have your freedom to order whatever you want) i told him I wasn't hungry. On Mother's Day .... The menu has the traditional things but creative items too. My daughter and I both had the Eggs Benedict. It was very good. An extra delicious hollandaise sauce. We love coming here on Friday evening after work to check out their dinner specials and happy hour drinks. Kudos to Oscar for all he does between customers to keep us safe, sanitizing after he clears the table. Service has been great. We're still trying new items on the special dinner menu but we love the bbq ribs with corn on the cob and also love the tacos. Nice place to unwind at the outside tables. We will definitely be back! First and only time here. A lady named Allix, as noted on my receipt, rang me up and was very rude and impatient. Even though I'd never been before it's not like I was being all indecisive or anything. I only asked one question about the size of my food. Didnt even get the sandwich I ordered, but it tasted fine.
