Just had my best meal of the year here... wow, it was good. I sorta want to go back tomorrow and order the same thing. Date night with my wife and we decided to hit Belfre on a last minute whim. So glad we did. We shared everything. We started with the Avacado Hummus. It is accompanied by fried wontons and thinly sliced radishes. Both we delish and the radishes brought a nice color to the plate. For dinner, we split a Belfre Burger and the Tagliatelle Pasta. Burger was cooked to a perfect medium and had a huge portion of mushrooms on top. It was accompanied by belfries (seasoned French fries) with a side of apple cider aioli. Super good. Used the sauce only on the fries. The burger was perfect just the way it was. The brioche bun was toasted to perfection. The pasta was awesome. Noodles were perfect and took on the flavors of the veggies (we didn't add meat and didn't miss it at all). The pumpkin pesto was really good and the winter veggies were plate scraping good. Service was great. Food came quickly. Prices were reasonable. Ambiance was nice. You can't go wrong here! Going to be back soon. read more

I regularly have meetings or coffee at this lovely establishment!! The food is fresh and delicious and the patio is fantastic. More importantly they brew Stone Creek which is the best coffee in the Milwaukee area. Good for groups if you call ahead. My family had brunch and there was a wait so a reservation would be advisable. They only have breakfast available on the weekends. Parking can take a bit during weekend brunch hours. read more

Had an INCREDIBLE brunch this afternoon with my mother at Belfre Kitchen. We arrived around 12:00pm and there was no wait at all for indoor/outdoor seating. We decided to belly up to the bar (of course ;-) ) and start with a mimosa flight picking three flavors (raspberry Bellini, peach Bellini, and an outstanding French 75) from the extensive list of options. For brunch we shared a Brunch Burger with avocado and the Grandlax Toast. The burger was juicy and cooked perfectly and the Belfires that came with were absolutely addicting. The Grandlax Toast had fresh crunchy cucumbers, a creamy dill spread, and thinly sliced pickled salmon. YUMMY!! We also enjoyed their house Bloody Mary and a peach iced tea with the meal. 10/10 would recommend Belfre Kitchen to anyone going through Delafield. We went to Belfre Kitchen for a late lunch recently, but almost didn't due to recent reviews noting poor service. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and although it took a while (15-20 minutes) for our food to arrive, we were generally pleased with the service and the food. I was going to order the Belfre Burger, but when I asked to have it cooked medium rare, our waitress said the kitchen cooks all the burgers "pub style" (cooked medium), and the last time she put in an order for a burger for being cooked to medium rare, she got "yelled at" by the kitchen. I don't know who owns or manages Belfre, but I mention this as a possible explanation why service may be slow (if wait staff is regularly being subjected to hostility from kitchen staff). Instead, I ordered the salmon fillet, which was cooked perfectly, and well accompanied by the kimchi pancake, arugula and miso vinaigrette. The salmon is farm raised, but comes from the Faroe Islands, where they purportedly have stringent regulations that reduce the risk of toxins that are found in most farm-raised fish. My two lunch companions both ordered a Cobb salad, which they said was good (though it did not include a hard boiled egg, a common ingredient). The music they were playing was from the Pandora Indie Acoustic channel, which we enjoy, and the volume was just right so that it provided a nice acoustic background without seeping into the foreground. The only other thing that stood out for me during the lunch was the loud noise made by the big front door every time it closed. We were seated in the upstairs, next to the wall with faux pipes (suggesting a pipe organ), so perhaps the noise is somehow amplified up there, but the lunch was punctuated with loud thuds throughout our time there. read more

I came here with my sister after a wonderful hike at Lapham Peak! How fun! This is such a cute area and we L-O-V-E LOVED the restaurant! We came around brunch time just for a quick snack. The Belfries are exquisite. We also split the steamed edamame! It was plenty to satisfy both our hungry stomaches after a sweaty hike! We sat outside and the seating area was wonderful. This place is so hip! Even the music gave it a nice, young, yet chill atmosphere. The prices weren't too bad, especially for the quality of the food. Would absolutely eat here again! read more

My husband got the pork chop with roasted sweet potato and carrots. The pork chop was great but the veggies were not done. I got the scallops with rosemary squash risotto. Hmmm. The risotto was so over seasoned with Rosemary it was not good at all. The scallops were ok. Both these were specials. I got the scallops for around $32. Th was only 2 small stallions with the risotto. Way over priced for what we got. We will not be returning. read more

You want to love this spot! Great location, beautiful build out, unique building. After checking out lunch service last summer, we came back for Dinner and ordered a few apps, a bottle of wine, and two entrees. Really strange that the entire staff appears to be in HS, maybe friends of the owners kids, not sure. But the vibe is really strange and was the same as last summer. Really terrible service, mediocre food, food was cold, not cooked properly, and quite tasteless. Very overpriced for the overall experience as well. I'd much rather spend a few hundred bucks on a wonderful meal and great service at some of the other staples in town. read more

Beyond the staffing issues,plagued by many these days, there is apparently some inner strife going on with one bratty chef dictating to owner who should get fired because he can't get along rather than being let go himelf. We have wanted to visit this restaurant since we first went to Delafield. We finally had our chance today. It wasn't especially crowded, and the weather was just nice enough to sit in their charming patio area. The tables are nice and set with cloth napkins, and although I'd like more shade, it was lovely. We ordered drinks (Sprecher root beer and iced tea, although they had a small yet nice selection of local brews), and ordered the burger. My wife ordered chips and I asked for the salad. Now, as I said before, they weren't especially busy, but it took a long time to get our food (probably about 15 minutes or so). We weren't in any kind of hurry, but we heard other customers who had gotten there before us complaining about the time it took to get food. The burger was great. It was tasty with a nice relish and blue cheese. It was supposed to have charred fennel, but I didn't really taste it. Never the less, the burger was one of the best I've ever had. The chips and salad sides were skimpy, and the salad was a little limpy. They only offer one kind of dressing, but I suppose that's ok. When it was time to go, it took about 10 minutes to flag down our server and get the check. I actually had to go inside to get her. Although I'm not a prude, when I go to a restaurant, I'm expecting a certain level of service. Having worked for many years in fine dining, I know that service is probably the most important way to get customers to return. Don't (didn't) expect fast food today. All I expected was faster service for a lunch menu. read more

Ate outside at the restaurant on Saturday evening. My entree salad was not worth the price. I was up-charged for choosing salmon instead of chicken. For $20 salad, I received a piece of salmon smaller than the palm of my hand and a bowl full of greens' stems. Some of the greens' leaves that were present were yellowing. Very disappointing meal!! My friend who was there earlier in the week had the same comment about the salad. I will not go back there. read more

This place is beautiful on the inside. Great aesthetic, great vibes and even better food. Their salads are wonderful and they give big servings (big enough for two people to share as an appetizer.) The Thai fries were cooked perfectly and the sauce was the perfect blend and peanut and spice. Soup of the day is always seasonal and delish. Service is awesome. This place is all about the atmosphere. Right in downtown Delafield in an old church building with an awesome front patio. The ambience is perfect for any occasion. Large selection of drinks to choose from at decent prices. Was there during "snack" hours. Good variety to choose from. Someone in our party got a flatbread that looked great and by their empty plates after I assume it tasted great too. The snack many was a little pricey but overall not too bad. I fell in love with this place from the outside a couple of years ago. I mean, a church turned restaurant with charming lighting and a fantastic patio? How can you go wrong? I'll tell you how. With cold, unwelcoming service. After trying it for the first time last night, I've come to the following conclusion: You can have an adorable interior and tasty food, but if your employees make patrons feel bad for being there, the positives won't bring us back again. I haven't felt so uncomfortable at a restaurant in ages. After finally finding babysitters for date night, it looks like we picked the wrong spot. Oh downtown Delafield, how I want to love you. So cute with all the doll house looking restaurants and shops. At Belfre the food and atmosphere speaks better than the service. Our waiter forgot a couple of things, but the food was great. For dinner I ordered the Filet Mignon. It was good correctly, but there are other places in Lake Country that prepare it better for the same price. I would probably give it 3.5 stars if that was an option, but the lack of service is keeping me from giving it 4 stars. I would suggest dining in the summer when you can eat outside. It was much prettier outside than inside, which seemed to have a tough time creating an identity. We will probably go back in summer again and I will update my review then. read more

Went to celebrate a friends birthday on Thursday. She ordered tomato soup and scallops. I ordered the hamburger. Waited more than 40 minutes for our food to come. The restaurant was not busy. Fries and scallops cold. Server wanted to take the whole plate away to get new fries. That meant that the burger would come back cold with hot fries. I said no please bring new fries. Asked for ketchup and salt for the fries. She forgot, asked again. Soup tasted like tomato sauce out of a can. Over priced, will not go back. read more

Belfre is small but wonderful, we made reservations for a Saturday brunch and were seated right away. The bar is small like 6 stools and the dinning room is small but it's okay because the service is wonderful and the food is delicious! I had the avocado chicken salad, two people in our party had the open faced avocado toast, and one person had a salad that wasn't on the menu but they made it anyway. All of our dishes were fresh and plentiful. We also shared an order of the drop donuts that come hot, rolled in cinnamon sugar and with whipped cream to dip them in, these are addictive and it would be easy to lose control and eat a pile of them, but you have to try them! Also, if you love mimosas, try a flight, 3 full size cocktails with many different options to choose from. My only reason for a lack of five stars (and I admit this is kind of lame) the chairs are wicker and super uncomfortable. Otherwise, I would recommend and I will go back next time I find myself in Delafield. read more

As I am new to the area, I have made a list of places I want to try out and Belfre Kitchen has finally been checked off my list! First of all, it is so cool that they turned an old church into this cute, contemporary restaurant. The decor and ambiance is so warm and inviting. My husband and I went here for brunch last weekend and had a great time and a great meal! They have a great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We shared a brunch cocktail flight (which is a fun way to try some of their cocktails) and I got a lavender latte, which was sooo delicious that I'm craving one right now! The next time I go, I definitely want to order their Belfre Bloody Mary! As for the food, everything tasted great! I highly recommend the Drop Donuts either as a starter or a sweet ending. I was not crazy hungry so I had "The Usual" which was nothing special but still delicious and the perfect portion size for someone that wants a smaller entree. My husband had the Biscuits and Gravy which he enjoyed very much. I tasted his dish and thought it was delicious as well. All in all, everything was great from the service to the food! The food was decent. i had to send back my potatoe pancake that came with the fish fry. It was burnt so bad my wife and I could not believe they put it on my plate. Getting your face close enough to my plate where you could smell it was like the after effect of Mount Saint Helens volcano ...yes it was that burned. let's talk about the placement of our table: it started out fine, we were in a corner and it was quaint. Then a party of 10 people was stuck next to us with one chair literally about 16 inches from the corner of our table. The wait staff would go by and the some people had no problem but unfortunately those with a little bit more junk in the trunk would knock silverware off of our plates that might've been hanging off the table. This place is absolutely dripping with charm! I can't believe it took me so long to check it out. In my defense, since it's inside an old church building, I didn't realize until very recently that it actually is a restaurant. I visited with my mom and we loved everything we had, which included a sausage flatbread, the airline chicken and an excellent basil Manhattan. I could see this being a cute date night spot or I'd definitely sit at the bar with a girlfriend for dessert and a cocktail. My only knock to this place is that since we didn't have reservations, they sat us upstairs in the corner- even though it looked like they had plenty of extra tables in better spots and it did get pretty loud thanks to a big group. Cute little place with some great food and even better cocktails. Full disclosure, I have only had appetizers and drinks for a yelp event held at Belfre. Their cocktails are really good twists on classic cocktails. Negroni with champagne, Margarita with chili, Old Fashioned with apricot and several other twists. Fantastic! The interior is perfect, a combination of classic, historic references to the former Church pedigree and modern. They have a great patio in the old churchyard at the front of the building, perfect for sipping cocktails or having a whole meal. The staff is nice, prompt and courteous. First thing to say is that the woman at the door (did not get her name) started the dining experience right off to a great start! Made us feel good and sat us down and said our server, Sandy, will be with us shortly! Sandy was great! A real keeper for the restaurant. We ordered small plates and they were prepared and presented with some care. Only thing about the place is that it is a bit loud, but this is because of the high ceiling.
