After 15 years of calling Lake Geneva home, the arrival of Opus at The Belfry House has transformed our local dining scene. No longer do we need to seek the bright lights of Chicago for an evening of culinary wonder; Chef Eric and his team have brought that Michelin-starred magic right to our doorstep. As you step into Opus, you're greeted by an ambiance of understated elegance, where every detail, from the soft lighting to the impeccably set tables, and view of Chef Eric cooking in his kitchen, promises an experience to remember. The staff, with their perfect blend of warmth and professionalism, ensures you are the protagonist in a story of gastronomic delight. We indulged in the seven-course tasting menu, a journey of flavors that began with an apricot and carrot gazpacho that was nothing short of a summer's breeze in a bowl--refreshing, bright, and awakening the palate with its innovative pairing. Each dish that followed was a testament to Chef Eric's artistry, from the visually stunning and exquisitely balanced Hamachi crudo that captivated my wife, to the scallop with caviar that was my own personal crescendo of the night--a symphony of sea-kissed luxury. The Wagyu beef, a dish we both savored, was a masterclass in perfection, its rich and buttery texture a reminder of why this venue stands apart from the region's already impressive dining establishments. This is not just a meal; it's an exploration of the finest produce, executed with a precision and creativity that can only be described as world-class. Yes, the price point sits well above the local average; the value is undeniable for a special occasion. Each course is a reflection of the premium ingredients and culinary expertise that one might expect from the best kitchens of Chicago, but here, nestled in the tranquil beauty of Lake Geneva. And we were lucky enough that, in July 2024, the wine pairing was free, and expertly done. Our first visit to Opus at The Belfry was more than just dinner; it was an experience that lingered long after the last morsel of the divine dessert -- coconut, passionfruit, and pineapple in a light chocolate cup -- had been relished. We're already looking forward to our next reservation, anticipating another evening where fine dining is not just promised, but delivered with an elegance and flair that is truly exceptional.

Very fun, intimate and delicious dinning experience. Small room (10 tables), Chiefs cooking right in front of you. Great for a date night or special occasion. I left full during the 7 course meal so there is plenty to eat with all the small plates. Plan on spending over $400 for dinner and drinks but you get what you pay for. Go check it out.

My favorite color "palatte" is the one you can eat! This restaurant is in its own class here in the Lake Geneva area. Chef Franklin Perdue presents the most artistic dishes that taste as good as they look. The ingredients are local, organic, and/or wild caught. The uniqueness of flavors will be remembered. I am pleased to discover that the quality of dining experience you would find at a Michelin starred restaurant in Chicago is right here in Williams Bay. What a stunning treat for any occasion and what friendly staff! I can't wait to return!

This has to be one of the most challenging reviews I have written, perhaps ever. In many ways, the core experience is entirely there. Chef Kim Buyse may be new to the States and new to Opus, but his food is skillful, elegant, and delicious. You can see from the photos what I am talking about here - each plate delivering greatly on flavor. Based on other accounts, Chef Kim may be a little less flamboyant in personality than his predecessor, but his flavors speak volumes; by and large we were blown away. My hope for Chef Kim is that as he settles in here at Opus, that he gets the opportunity to become more and more daring, courageous, and really show us what Asian-French high-end cuisine can look like, because that combination seems like it could be very special. If the shiitake mushroom tart is any indication of what's to come, Lake Geneva may become an epicenter of Midwestern haute cuisine with Opus at The Belfry House dead center. On the flip side, my goodness are there some inconsistencies between these plates and what leads you up to the table. Website is inaccurate and broken in spots with respect to the menu. There is no outer signage visible from the road, in advance, that says either Opus or Belfry House - just "Belfry Theatre." This is the place by the way you want to be at - it is the second building. Based on other guest feedback on-site and online, that seems to be a very common talking point. Bluntly, fix it! This hotel and restauraunt has opened at a very challenging time in the food and beverage industry, let alone the very courageous, perhaps daring approach Opus chooses to take with its cuisine. I hope that Opus can ultimately find and rally behind its voice in the months and years to come, because I believe it has the potential to be a Michelin gem in an area with piles of steakhouses and few true artists. My wife and I will be returning to enjoy another culinary adventure together here.

I cannot believe it! We have a Michelin star caliber restaurant in Delavan, WI! My birthday dinner today transported me to France and provided with an unforgettable experience. All I can say is that every single dish on today's menu created by Chef Philippe Chevalier and his team was a masterpiece of the visual presentation and the quintessence of the flavors. Bravo to the team and the outstanding chef! We will be back soon! I highly recommend!

Hidden gem! Outstanding service and unbelievable food. We dined at this restaurant 2 times and each experience was consistently perfect. Our server took the time to get to know us personally and was genuine and exceptional. The Chef went out of his way to check on each table during dinner. He was very professional and interested in our dining experience. Dining at this restaurant will transport you to a beautiful little European town. From the glassware, table setting and personalized scroll menu it will leave you wanting to come back again. The food combinations and flavor profiles were unique, delicious and plated as gorgeous artwork. Looking forward to my next visit here this month.

Celebrated Valentine's Day with Opus and it was simply amazing! We opted for the seven course meal and not one course disappointed. Very romantic, classy, and delicious. We had a great time!

My first time doing a multi course meal. I was very excited to find this place. I was even more excited with each and every dish that came out. Asparagus gazpacho, wild boar pate, lamb, filet, desserts that were perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. The wine pairing was exceptional as well. It's an experience. My only complaint is the one toilet that was working the flush was broken. Also, the rolls they gave us were a little harder than I would expect from a place like this. It's a place you should try if you enjoy dining experiences.

While the restaurant is only a tasting chef-selected option of 5 or 7 courses it is of high quality and high value. Any major cities would be twice the price. Open kitchen concept is a class-act. Chef Kim needs no comment but this must be said... His works are high art for every dish. Seating is minimal and the lobby should be tabled for summertime overflow. Servers are average rank and file, likely untrained in French food pronunciation or sommelier services with such fine foods and an excellent wine cellar. Improvements would be additional kitchen help, bussers and full-time bartender to complete the effectiveness of the dining experience, as well as allow for a future ala carte menu that doesn't withhold sole, salmon, lobster, lamb, Châteaubriand, bouillabaisse, etc. Entrance for the venue is in the building to the left of the Belfry (the hotel's front doors --and not the theatre building).

My boyfriend and I went to the Bacon Festival in Lake Geneva a few weeks ago and decided to make a weekend trip out of it. For brunch on Saturday we went to Opus at the Belfry House. This place is absolutely gorgeous and amazing! This place is a small little restaurant located inside the Belfry House (a quaint little hotel that is incredibly elegant and luxurious). The quality in food and service is unmatched from any place I've ever been to. I ordered a plain egg omelette with cheese and I had sausages and broccolini on the side; my boyfriend ordered the eggs Benedict. Everything was hand crafted with intense care and precision from the freshly squeezed orange juice to the freshly made yogurt; the orange juice I had was so fresh and sweet, it tasted as if I was biting right into the sweetest orange; it was delicious! I have never had freshly made yogurt in my entire life and after having it, it's so hard to go back to processed yogurt. If you enjoy fine dining and want the experience of enjoying top notch food but don't want to pay too much, I'd recommend going for brunch. They accept reservations only and you must pay $75 just to book a spot (they refund the $75 after you show up). This place is definitely worth a trip! I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Celebrating Love, Suffering Through Dinner: Hunt Club Steakhouse Fails When It Matters Most…read more Anniversaries are sacred. They're the one night a year you splurge a little, dress up, and expect the restaurant to hold up its end of the bargain. Hunt Club Steakhouse couldn't hold up its end of anything. My wife and I arrived to celebrate twelve years of marriage. We left counting the minutes until we could get out the door. From the jump, the evening felt like an afterthought. We were tucked into a small side room -- four tables, terrible acoustics, voices ricocheting off every wall. When I asked to be moved to the main dining room, the answer was no. Those tables, we were told, were reserved for larger parties. Except the main room was full of couples. Just not us. Then came the waiting. Drinks: ten minutes. Rolls and butter -- rolls and butter -- took over twenty. Our entrées took over an hour. Our waitress apologized a few times early on, which was appreciated -- but somewhere around the 45-minute mark, she stopped coming by altogether. Out of sight, out of accountability. Meanwhile, tables seated well after us received their full entrées and were eating through their meals before ours ever arrived. Not a quick turnaround -- significantly faster service, start to finish. When I finally voiced my frustration, a staff member stopped me mid-sentence, promised they'd let us enjoy the meal first and then address my concerns. What actually happened? The check arrived instead. Then every person in sight -- waitress, host, anyone -- vanished. We paid and walked out without a single acknowledgment. As for the food: the steaks were underwhelming -- poor cuts, little flavor, nothing that justified the price or the wait. The mac and cheese was decent, perfectly fine, forgettable. We added lobster only to find a small handful of pieces scattered across a plate meant for two or three people -- a genuinely insulting portion. The one bright spot? The Brussels sprouts. Genuinely delicious. Truly. I wish I could say the same about anything else. Hunt Club Steakhouse had one job on our anniversary: don't ruin it. Poor food, chaotic pacing, vanishing staff, and zero follow-through on their own promise to make it right. This is not a restaurant that respects its guests -- especially not on a night that actually matters.
