This is my second or third time here for good reason. I know the last time was dinner and the owner sat with us when I asked her Middle East food questions. She was so gracious and also educated me on how beautiful and lush Lebanon is. For lunch I went "small". Chicken Shwarma sandwich and cup of Lemon Chicken Soup. OMG-Amazing and explosive flavors. Add to that the great service and soup and sandwich prices and you just can't go read more

I was led to Beirut Restaurant by the other Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. The service was fantastic. I had a platter with 4 kinds of kabobs, recommended by the server so I could try everything. The food was great. I even liked the murals on the walls. I was dining alone on a business trip and the murals were something to look at and they made me smile. I would never had wandered into this place without the aid of Yelp. It's strip mall location made me wary but I am glad I gave it a try. I would definitely go again when I fly into Detroit. read more

Delicious home cooked middle eastern food option near Detroit airport. Why sit at a crappy hotel bar or chain restaurant when real food is just next door? Tabouleh was for real. read more

Delicious food! I ordered the hummus, fatouche salad and shawarma plate, the portion are generous! Would recommend 10/10

I have to give this place only 1 star because the waiter was horrible and rude. I ordered soup, spinach pie and water. When I asked to have my water glass refilled, the waiter literally rolled his eyes at me and said, "you must be thirsty!" Obviously! I watched him leave pitchers of water on other customer's tables. Made me feel like I was treated poorly because I am female. The soup was good! Would have loved to have spinach pie but they were out. read more

I really enjoyed this place! It is so close to the airport - just about every time I have landed at DTW I grabbed some food at Beirut before I hop on the highway. I am not super knowledgeable in Lebanese cuisine so was indecisive about what to order. Although I am usually indecisive about what to order at any restaurant. I asked the server what she recommended and then she walked me through what I liked. "Do you want chicken or lamb?" "Do you like veggies?" etc. Then she told me what I should get, and it was SO GOOD! Some kind of veggies on top of hummus with lamb idk it was so good though! Also they are pretty big portions - I had leftovers. Although I usually have leftovers at any restaurant. Like I said I have been there a few times. Sometimes it's busy and the server doesn't get as personal as she did the first time I was there, but other times it is not so busy. read more

Only been here once, but look forward to my next return. It isn't fancy, its surroundings don't indicate you'll find such deliciousness. Service was friendly and prompt, started with the shanina (slightly tart yogurt beverage), enjoyed the lentil soup, had the gallaya with salmon (a mushroom, pepper, onion, carrot stew), and regretted there was so much food I couldn't possibly justify the baklava-- next time. If you have a car and you're near the Detroit airport, definitely worth a visit. read more

Cheesy decor but you don't care when they start bringing out the food. Hummus like butter, falafel was best I ever had. Hubby said chicken schwarma was amazing. Juice bar looked interesting but the rice pudding looked like grandmas. Go here. Now. read more

After hearing co-workers rave about this place and reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. The food was great. I had the Chicken Shawarma sandwich and it was great. The two young ladies tending to the front of the restaurant were very friendly and welcoming. Here is the only reason I took away a star: when I was paying for my food I ordered baklava to have a snack as I walked back to my hotel. One of the girls charged me for my baklava and then I was informed by the other girl that they were out of baklava and she would give my money back. I then asked if they had anything else sweet and she said they had banana pudding. I said that was fine, but then she expected me to pay $1 for the pudding even though the baklava had already been charged to my card. read more

We ordered delivery while staying at a hotel next to the airport. I ordered the vegetarian app platter and my husband got the chicken shawarma and a side of fries. Portion sizes were generous and the food was tasty. Hummus was my favorite! The only downsize was the falafel was a little overcooked/cold and the fries were a little soggy but they both still had good flavor and I bet they would be delicious fresh in the restaurant! read more

I don't care if the decor is shabby, service is a little unattentive if not rude at times, and the place seems slightly less than cleanly, the food is always great! Fresh veggies, sauces, and meats are always used. Everything tastes and looks homemade yet is very consistent from visit to visit. Don't come expecting top notch service or spotless dining environment, but the food never disappoints - in Romulus, this is about as good as it gets. Try the Chicken Lemon Tawook, Stuffed Lamb and Rice, and pretty much all the Shawarma is good. Lentil soup is also very good! read more

I stopped here while on my way to the Detroit Metro airport and was pleasantly surprised by both the food and service. The egg lemon soup was delicious and the sandwich was very good. The atmosphere is fine for a casual restaurant and the service was good. The ladies working were attentive and friendly. The prices vary item by item, with sandwiches being a great value for around $4 each. While not large, they are not tiny and the flavors are strong and distinctive. read more

Again, I can't tell you how many times I've had Mediterranean outside of Dearborn and kicked myself afterwards. Let's start with the price, as this is my biggest issue with Beirut. OVERPRICED. I ordered a small fattoush salad with chicken and a side of hummus and walked out with a $20 bill. I could see maybe $15 but, that $20 bill hurt.... especially after eating the food. The fattoush has large chunks of greens and cucumber which made it hard to eat and the dressing was not impressive and lack the flavor you crave from a fattoush. The chicken here veers onto the greasy side which detracts from any flavor it has. The hummus is only decent as well as the lentil soup. The service seems quite disorganized (I carry out here) and it's kind of chaotic. If you're new to Mediterranean, this place MIGHT be good but there are so many better places with much better prices down the freeway in Dearborn. read more

Great food, assertively seasoned. Huge portions. Cheap prices. Fresh juice. Friendly staff. Cute decorations. What more do you want? This place makes me want to Beirut without having ever even visited the place, if this is what food is like in Lebanon. I'm in Detroit for work two or three times a year, and if you can't make it out to Dearborn, this place is pretty bomb. read more

One of my favorites when staying nearby for work. Great tasting food, huge portions and fair prices. Enough for dinner and lunch the next day. The service is also extremely friendly - the server took her time to recommend dishes for picky eaters in our group and did not hesitate to accommodate special requests. read more

Well I've eaten here over a dozen times now and I can definitely say, the food is always awesome. Prices have gone up a little and the service can sometimes be spotty but once I bite into a shwarma it's all over. Baba ganous is great as are the kafta and sojouk sandwiches. The fatush salad is also great with the crispy pita and feta cheese on top. I'm amazed at how many people I see walking in and out of the subway next door when just a few yards away you can get something so much more fresh and flavorful! If you're ever near the airport it's a must! read more

Very expensive for no reason . I don't know nor food was up to mark . Also take long time for serving

I used Yelp to find this place while staying at a hotel near Detroit Metro. Loving middle eastern food like I do, I had to give it a shot. Walking in the door you see a dozen tables or so and your standard mural on the wall. I went for dinner on a friday night and although there wasn't a line at the door for a seat, most of the tables were full. I went for the carry out and didnt call ahead because I figured it would be some typical pre-made food warmed up in the microwave. I couldn't have been more wrong. I ordered a couple dinners of chicken schwarma. They came with a choice of sides, so I went with a Mediterranean salad and soup of the day which was like a veggie soup. I wanted some hummus but was having a little deciding between that or bah bah gounush (sp?). I ordered hummus and the waitress gave me a nice sample of the bah bah with bread to snack on while I waited. She was VERY polite and stopped to talk periodically while I waited for my order. I ended up waiting about 25 minutes for my entire order but I knew it was all fresh. I couldn't walk out without snagging a tray of lady fingers for dessert. All said and done the wait was worth it in the end. I will definitely be back while im at Detroit Metro. Now I know just to call ahead. Oh yea.....dinners were big enough for 2 adults to share. Good place for lunch, not too far from work for me. We go here once every couple weeks. The Good: Good food. Decent prices. If you order just a sandwich, it is VERY reasonable. Reasonable like $4-$5 for a very tasty sandwich that is definitely a meal by itself. If we're in a group we'll order hummus which is also very good. As some have mentioned, they put out both flat and fluffy pita bread on the table. I and my friends have found the customer service to be friendly. The Marginal: Service is relatively slow, both from the wait staff and the kitchen. If it is more than half full you likely will need to flag down the waitress, especially if you have told them you need some more time to review the menu. It seems to fill up around 12 - I'd recommend going in by about 11:30 at the latest and ordering before the rush arrives. The Bad: Haven't found anything "bad" at this place. My favorite is chicken shwarma sandwich and hummus. Shwarma is very good - not too much garlic sauce and I have never found it dry or bland as in some other places. The quantity of food you get will not leave you wanting, unless you are used to eating at buffets. I'd recommend this place for lunch to anyone and have taken people from work in from out of town and always had compliments. read more

Very pleasant surprise. We were stuck over night @Detroit airport hotel...this restaurant experience made it worthwhile! Everything was so delicious , especially liked the "garlic sauce" that was served with pita bread. Baba Ganoush -yum! Good sized servings, great prices and service! read more

Beirut Restaurant - Fantastic find while stranded overnite near Detroit airport! - Middle Eastern Near Me - Romulus, Michigan

This is hands down the absolute best Mediterranean food I've had. EVER. The owner is a riot, she'll jab you with deadpan, backhanded resnarks (snarky remarks) that are somewhere between Meryl Streep's Miranda and a very sharp Aunt Voula (My Big Fat Greek Wedding). Please bring your sense of humor and/or friends who you need slapped around a little (in a good way). And if you're good and order the Turkish coffee, she might even read your past from the cup. "Delightful" is not strong enough to describe the experience at Beirut. I live in Chicago where food is King (like many places) and I am very happy to say this restaurant has far exceeded my expectations and goes up as one of the favorites. Of all the hummus and shawarma and baklava I have ever had, Beirut is by far the best. And if you don't try it, you're an idiot. read more

My wife and I just finished what could only be described as a truly fantastic meal. We absolutely loved everything we tried, and we tried many things. We ordered the sample platter for two, as it was recommended my our waitress, and it was just great. We also ordered the salad with feta, and that too was truly wonderful. I am unfamiliar with the names of these foods, so please forgive me for not adding many details. We hope we can return again this trip. Go there, you'll be very happy you did. read more

This food is AMAZING! My husband and I had the Beirut Platter for two and it could have fed 4 people. The hummus is creamy and light and the best I have ever eaten. Have the Fattouch because the sauce is amazing with chicken but glorious by itself. Fresh and homemade feta and pickles just add to the yumminess. Eat here! You will be glad you did. read more

Looking for a low carb meal on Labor Day close to the Fairfield Inn. This fitted the bill - and it was open! Unlike the Merriman Grill next door (closed all day) - so Beirut ultra busy, service still good and prompt. The lamb and veggie soup was hot but too salty and almost devoid of lamb. The shwarma was OK, not great but pretty good. Will try again I'm sure. Waitress was great. read more

Good food and portions. Service need to improve Tea was like hot water with color but no flavor at all.

Beirut is fantastic! I get food from here every time I stay by the airport. The chicken shawarma sandwich is my go-to and usually one of their salads. I just tried the chicken lemon rice soup and wow, it is amazing!! They get busy in the evenings, but be patient, it is totally worth it!! read more

I go to Detroit for work often and usually stay at the airport Sheraton in Romulus. I've heard rave reviews about Beirut, but haven't had a chance to go until my last trip. I have been missing out! I went for a little run but it was getting chilly, so I detoured to dinner instead :) Couldn't decide between the kabob sandwich and the chicken schwarma sandwich, so I got them both to compare. They were both good but the beef kabob was the star of the show - tender and delicious with hummus, garlic sauce, veggies and....pickles? I was skeptical but the combination was a huge hit! And both sandwiches + a generous tip was less than $10. You can't beat it read more

Overall, this place is a pretty average Mediterranean restaurant to be found in the area. I'd say serving sizes were more than average and the prices were average if not a bit high for the main entrées. The unremarkable exterior of the restaurant matches with a bland interior but the service I received this evening was from a young very pleasant woman who joked with me while I waited for my carry out order. I ordered the humus and fatoush sandwich paired with a cup of lamb vegetable soup. Very flavorful soup that was extremely hot, word to the wise, make sure to let it cool a bit before you sip. The sandwich I still have some leftovers of, which is nice, and I read previous comments about the fatoush being too chunky but I really liked the large slices of cucumber and red cabbage and onions. It was one fresh bite after the next. I will probably return here in the future but it didn't exactly call my name out loud. read more

I end up staying in the Detroit airport area many time each winter for my son's hockey tournaments. Invariably the team dining involves a lot of pizza and sports bars which are all very solid, but when we need a real meal the two of us break away and go to Beirut for healthy, flavorful Lebanese style Middle Eastern delivered in a casual family restaurant environment. The basics are all great - chicken, lamb or beef shawarma served on hummus with surprisingly flavorful rice. I always get some of the fattouch, tabouli, fried kibbee, baba ghanouj and felafel. If you want to add a flavor bomb to any dish, try the "labneh with garlic" a thick yogurt that goes perfectly with the other flavors. When we bring along a couple of other families we start with the Beirut Appetizer Platter and then share our way through the menu with a la carte and entree portions. Kabobs are tender and Shish Tawook and Shish Kefta other standouts. Soups and salads are all fresh and flavorful. This place gets dinged by many diners for being a bit unkempt (uncleared tables, food on the floor) but if you can get past that it is like eating at a friend's house. We get a kick out of the charming young chap with the fierce eyebrows who looks to be the family's next generation proprietor. read more
