Amazing chicken shawarma and Baklava. My only disappointment was my sandwich was wrapped in paper so I couldn't eat all the tasty juices.

I stayed near the airport and gave Beirut a try. The hummus was excellent. I had it with salmon. The spicing of the salmon was unique, like nothing I had tasted before, and it was soooo good. read more

The fact that their food is tasty -and it is- is largely overshadowed by the attitudes of the staff that run this place. It's a bunch of teenage kids that seem like they're all family and act like it as the whole time I was here they were arguing, joking, and bickering with each other. The males were all treating the one female a little despairingly and every one of the them exuded little to no professionalism. I ordered one simple swarma and it took over 20 minutes -likely to do with the fact that they were fulfilling other take out orders and also that they were horseplaying around the whole time. When you have a customer sitting at a table, you ought to make them a bit of a priority. When I asked one of the young men what was taking so long, he retorted and laughed that it "wasn't my (his) fault" and went back to playing on his cell phone. Really? That's how you talk to your customers? No offer to right the wrong? Maybe offer something for the extra long wait? Ridiculous. I won't eat here again and wouldn't recommend anyone else to either. Again, some of the most unprofessional service I've experienced at a restaurant. read more

I was going to be nice ... but that's just too hard. I've gone here quite a few times in the past months. Service is ... amusing. There is a younger woman and an older woman. They don't look related, but the younger one really badgers and berates the older woman. Here is one example that made my jaw drop: Young: "Which table do you want [to serve]?" Old: "I don't care." Young: (flips out) "You can't say that in front of customers! That's really unprofessional!" Old: "What are you talking about?" Young: "You can't say 'I don't care' in front of customers!" And proceeds to completely verbally abuse this woman right in front of me. The good: They have BOTH the fluffy AND the not-fluffy pita bread on the table. They also have halloumi goat cheese for salads. And of course, the usual standard fare for a Lebanese restaurant around here. They also have a good selection of salads and sandwiches (including items with shrimp and salmon). They do clearly mark on the menu what is vegetarian. The bad: I have no idea what is going on back in that kitchen but they are SLOW. And even slower if they've got a full house and people waiting for take out. The vegetables are just sad looking (the cabbage is dry and the tomatoes are unripe and waxy). And when you order a salad with some shawarma on top -- it doesn't come on top. It comes on the side (weeeeird). Oh, and the shawarma is dry and tasteless. I guarantee you that no Lebanese or muslim person who wanted great middle eastern food would come here UNLESS it was convenient. This place satisfies a niche -- close to the airport (saw some Muslim employees there on lunch break) and one of the very few non-chain restaurants around these parts. After eating the world's blandest and saddest Lebanese salad recently, I'm starting to believe Tim Horton's just might be a better idea. But you'll pay for it in quality AND out of your pocket. A small fattoush salad is $5 plus $4 for meat on top. AND the small hummous was a whopping $5! I thought I was maybe delusional, but I checked Al-Ameer's prices -- $3.75 for a small hummos, $7.50 for a shawarma fattoush salad. read more

Solid middle eastern food conveniently located close to the airport. We usually get a fattoush and platter for 2 to split between 3 people, and that's more than enough. The fattoush is fresh and tasty. All the meat is well prepared, and the garlic sauce is perfect. The kibbeh is soft and moist, very nice. The hummus is excellent consistency, but this last time we came it didn't seem the most fresh, but it was still very good. The falafel is disappointing, to say the least--hard, crumbly, tasteless. The service is quick and the place is clean and cute. read more

Bad food, bad Customerservices! I called from the hotel while i was looking at the menu, I didn't decide yet, she was like " oh i don't have time, I'm busy, I will put you in hold for 2 minutes until you decide" In a rude tone. When she was back, i ordered and done. She said $3 for the delivery. Before the food comes, they called me and said you need to go in the lobby, i was ok. The guy deliver the food said oh this $3 for the restaurant. So i had to pay total $10 total extra for 0.5 delivery. The food was old and not worth it. read more

When i entered young waiter chose the table for me in busiest area of the restaurant right by cashier and all dine out pick up people despite most other tables being available. Instead of fries i asked for i got rice and never got water refill and was not able to make eye contact with waiter to even ask for it. Good food but waiter not assertive at all. read more

This is a Yelp first for me. I actually went to a restaurant based on wanting to personally experience the bad service that everyone yelped about. The service reviews were almost comical. It couldn't be that bad, right? My co-workers raved about the food, so I knew that was good. It's the service I went to see. Like the descriptions, there was an older lady and two young girls. The young girls were dressed in traditional Lebanese clothes and the place was decorated with large murals of Beirut. The lady asked kindly if I was eating in or take-out. I while trying to decide which sandwich to get, a dude came in who's a regular. They all talked to him by name and were chatting away. The comical rude service moment I'd been waiting for unfolded as I was looking over their menu for future visits. I noticed the girl making a gesture (like "C'mon, hurry up). The dude and the girl laughed. I acted like I didn't see it and ordered the Chicken Shawarma $4.23 (incl tax). Everyone spoke Arabic and there were Arabic writing on the walls. The sandwich was about 8" with a lot of chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and generously lathered with garlic'y toum. I took one bite as I was walking to my hotel and instantly fell in love with it. The chicken was juicy and tender. The bread had a light crisp to it, yet chewy (don't upgrade to a french roll for $.50. It's perfect as is). The pickles made it salty (in a good way), and I can still taste the garlic from the toum. I can't wait to come back for the comically rude service and great chicken shawarma!!! read more

I ordered pickup for this place today, It was a few minutes later than the time they had said but they were so friendly and accommodating! While I was waiting I had an iced tea and the nice lady behind the counter made sure to fill it up again before I left. I ordered the lamb hummus and a chicken shawarma pita. It was all so good! I had been craving the lamb hummus for a week and it totally lived up to my expectations. I will definitely be ordering from this place again in the future. read more

Beirut Restaurant - Middle Eastern Near Me - Romulus, Michigan

Love the chef sandwich, the baba ganouj, the fresh juice, the falafel, and the fattoush! The baclava is one of the most delicious things I have ever put in my mouth. I savor every honey soaked morsel. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Located in close proximity to Detroit Metro. Every time I fly I look forward to stopping at Beirut when I take off and when I land. read more

Cold food.. the meat is tough and just not good. For service, if I could give a negative star I would. Absolutely no customer service. They close whenever they feel like, so no point in looking at the hours. The only people keeping this place in business are people stranded in Detroit, that have never tasted good Mediterranean food. read more

Excellent Lebanese food. I'm in short business trip to Detroit and it happened that I yelped neighbor meditterranean restaurants and this one pops out. I came few months and and here I am back. Food is excellent and service is great. This place gets packed during morning and lunch hours. I will be visiting back whenever Im in Michigan. read more

Love this place. Good food. Great service. Great location near the hotel District. On Merriman Road.

I'm a foodie. Which means I know good, quality food. This family owned restaurant is the jewel of Romulus. Every time I land at Detroit Metro Airport This is the place I stop at to order the best food on this side of town. The owners are so friendly and always have a great story to tell or a compliment share. The food is the best Mediterranean food EVER! You won't regret it! I love the fattoush salad, the shawarma, the lamb kafta everything! Definitely try this one. read more

I ate at Beruit Restaurant a couple of months ago after finding their menu in the lobby of the hotel I was staying in near DTW. The hotel staff recommended I try it and noted that it was a short walk down the road from the hotel. Food: good portions and absolutely delicious. Maybe the best hummus I have ever had. Price: Fair Service: HORRIBLE. The young lady (Alya?) who waited on me was completely rude when I asked what some of the menu items were made of (this is new stuff for me, which I told her to begin with) She rolled her eyes upon my asking the 2nd question. After my food was delivered only 15 minutes later she completely ignored me, talked on her cell phone, yelled at someone in the back room, etc... SHE IS AWFUL!! read more

When I worked at the airport this was always one of our favorite lunch options. Very good shawarma, excellent hummus, and even some American fare like fries. I would usually get the shawarma with hummus (chicken or lamb) with fries instead of rice and a salad. I would also ask for extra bread as the hummus is plentiful. I would dip my fries in the hummus and it was delicious. It is a solid four star restaurant. I never appreciated places like the Beirut Restaurant until I moved out of the Detroit area. For some reason I cannot find hummus in other parts of the country like I could find in Michigan. Beriut is one of the better ones around. read more

The first rule of food production in a restaurant is consistency. I'm sad to say Beirut has broken that rule. The food is never the same!! When you order a plate of food and enjoy it you expect the food to have that same wonderful taste you enjoyed every time. The first time I ordered the meat Schwarma and it was tasty. The meat was juicy and well seasoned. I ordered the same dish the next time and the meat was shoe leather dry and lacked seasoning. That was unacceptable! I mean come on! I wouldn't even feed that tough rubbery meat to my enemies dog! So I called and complained. They requested i bring back whatever was left back. So I sent it back and all hell broke loose!! They were yelling in their native tongue. They said because I ate some they wouldn't give me the full quantity I ordered in the replacement dish! Can you imagine?? Like of course I tasted it. If I didn't how the hell would I know the meat was leathery. I made a plate for my son and myself and we dumped in right back in carry out container once we tasted the leathery meat. Trust me we weren't playing keep away with rubber-band meat. Mind you I paid and extra four dollars for extra meat!!! While all this commotion is occurring, the chef comes out with wild eyes and a scrunched up face yelling show me the food where is the food. I guess he didn't know the customer complaining was still there. Then the owner came out and says if you don't like it don't order anymore!! I was floored! What a way to correct YOUR mistake!! I paid $22.25 for a meal I intended to enjoy that came out like rubber bands and you have the nerve to speak with me I that manner?!! At this point I'm pissed so I ask for a refund and they say they'd give me a partial refund due to the fact that some of the food was eaten. At this point all bets were off. I had to give them a piece of my mind. After that you better believe I got a full refund! You can bet your bottom dollar on me or anyone I know to NEVER EVER step foot in this establishment again!! After reading this I hope you don't either. read more

This restaurant is excellent! Excellent food! Their homemade dressings are amazing as well! The thing I love most about this place is the customer service. They make sure the experience is very pleasant even if it's just a carry out! I just left from picking up a fattoush salad and I'm honestly in awe of how kind everyone was! Great experience! Will always go back! They really treat you like family! I also got to try a smoothie that was amazing as well! read more

Beirut is a perfectly adequate local restaurant with good middle eastern food. The service isn't the best here, if a manager isn't in the building, they employees will play! But it's close to home which is a good thing. read more

This is really depressing. Beruit has some of the best shawarma around. I looked forward to stopping in when returning from trips. It's a hop, skip and jump from the airport. The last time I was there I was completely disgusted by the service. I ordered a fatoosh with chicken shawarma and also asked for a side of garlic sauce. Our server asked if we wanted feta on our salads. I said no, my fiancé said yes. I had a feeling there would be an extra charge for the feta even though the server never mentioned it. My fatoosh arrives sans shawarma but with, and I kid you not, a dinner plate full of garlic sauce. Um, what's this, I ask. The reply, this is a side of garlic sauce. You're kidding, right? I meant a little container. She takes away the dinner plate and then returns with a saucer full. Meanwhile I'm still waiting for my chicken. When my plate finally arrives lo and behold there's a tiny container of garlic sauce on the plate. I am at a total loss. If the shawarma comes with garlic sauce, shouldn't that have been mentioned when I ordered? At this point I'm totally pissed off and ready to go. The final nail in the coffin, when the check comes there's a 1.50 charge for the feta. I don't care how good the shawarma is I won't be back. I hope you enjoy what you overcharged me for garlic sauce and feta, you've lost a loyal customer. read more

The restaurant is small and unassuming, not somewhere that I would have seen without looking it up first. I stopped in and placed a carryout order after landing at Detroit Metro Airport. It was relatively close to the airport in an area surrounded by hotels and other restaurants. The young lady and young man that were working were very friendly, polite, and fast. I ordered a fattoush salad with chicken, my typical go-to for Middle Eastern food. The wait was not very long and after arriving home, I was very happy with my order. Everything was very fresh, the lettuce and cucumber were still crispy even after sitting in the dressing during my 20 minute ride home. The grilled chicken was perfectly done and the spices that this restaurant used were pretty delicious. Too many times have I been to similar Middle Eastern restaurants and gotten the same order, just to get my food soggy and drenched in dressing. Some other restaurants also use different spices on their meat that aren't always as flavorful. Overall a very good experience. I'll definitely go back when I'm in the area and would recommend it to anyone looking for solid Middle Eastern food. read more

Beirut would be perfect if it wasn't for the abhorrently shi*ty customer service. Pros: It's the best lebanese food in the area, and I've eaten a ton of it. I'm a vegetarian, and I've tried (and loved) all their vegetarian dishes. The portions are large, the food is of high quality and fresh, and it's cheap. Now, let me share some of my customer service stories. I ordered a large order. Six or seven veggie trays, a couple of appetizers, a large hummus, and a large baba. We agreed that I would pick it up in an hour. I walked over on an hour on the nose. N: I'm here to pick up the large order. C: What large order? N: The gigantic one called in an hour ago? Six veggie trays... C: Ooooh yeah. I've got the ticket right here (under the cash drawer?) N: So it's ready, right? C: They're working on it still. N: You're sure they've actually started on it? If not, fuck it, I'll walk out and go get pizza or something. C: No no, they're working on it. [Cashier then looks into the back of the house, calls out the order, and they start working on it.] By this time, I'm pissed. I wait another 10 minutes while they slop together my order, and leave with my food. Yes, it was delicious. If you eat in, you can be assured that it will take forever. I've had friends have orders lost, orders severely mangled, and no matter what they get wrong, the attitude is always the same gruff and unapologetic customer service. TLDR: If the food wasn't so good, I'd never go back. I stil may never go back. read more

My favorite place to go to by DTW airport. I have searched all over for something this good and this simple. Man, i love this place. I am a fan of the fatoush salad because of it's fried pita bits. Fresh romaine...you know the crunchy cold kind with just the right amount of dressing. The shish taook sandwich is perfect. Crispy wrap, tasty insides with tabouleh. It's better than any I've found in the Chicago area, but such a welcome relief from fast food hole in the walls. Highly recommended. read more

WOW! This place is fantastic! Coming from a middle eastern home, I know what good food is-- and this is amazing. The place itself looks great with a cozy feel to it, and the staff are all very enthusiastic and willing to help you order to your preference. Having many of the arabian restaurants around here, including dearborn, I can honestly say this place is the best tasting with good service for a change. read more

The service can be slow even uncaring at times and they have a hug probability of not getting a custom order correct... HOWEVER, The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable an the food tastes great! First timers must try the shawarmas and a side of garlic! I rec the mixed because it tends to be a little juicier than the chicken by itself. Also the onions they use are extremely potent, so if your not a huge fan of onions, ask to have them left off. They might even actually leave them off ;) This is my spot when I stay near by! read more

Friendly service. Fantastic flavors with fresh quality food. It's easy to see they care about what good they provide. Loved it

We stopped off at this restaurant by chance last year at the beginning of our annual trip to Detroit to see the Tigers - (as it is by the airport & we were actually looking for a Subway....) We loved it! We came back again at the end of our trip AND at the beginning and end of our trip this year, too! We are a group of 9 - so you can imagine if all of us like a place that in & of itself is a great review! The food is fresh, tasty, reasonably priced and good portions. We will be back again next year! read more

Best Mediterranean food in the area, everything is good garlic sauce is fire. Also dining in is a great experience great service every time!

I used Beirut Palace to cater a lunch and not only was the food amazing, but the staff really took care of all my needs!

Third time here, third time walking out wondering how any sandwich shop within ten miles stays in business (particularly the questionable meat purveyor next door). The reason for the update is the lamb vegetable, soup of the day. It was "pick up the bowl and drink it" good. I have yet to have bad service, and they're fast on take-out orders. Don't hesitate to order anything on the sandwich menu, and for the love of God, don't forget the Baklava! read more

Promise me you'll never show this to my mom. I've never found lebanese food that was better than my mom's. I thought I was bias. That psychologically I was predisposed to enjoying her food more. Coming from Cape Coral, FL, I rarely get to have really good Middle Eastern food and I deeply relied on the integrity of Yelp reviews when deciding to order for our group. We had this restaurant cater a ladies work gift exchange. Sounds fun huh, until we ate lunch. They served Fattouch salad, hummus, chicken shawarma, garlic sauce and pita bread. Tasted fine, an hour later 6 or 7 girls eating the same exact lunch got ill to their stomach. Next day 3 called in sick and 3 or us worked through it. I must say this is the best middle eastern food I have tasted thus far!!! I didn't give it a 5 star due to the not so great customer service that I have received while visiting this location. I worked in this area for 4 yrs and the service has not gotten better it has only gotten worse. However I must say the food is so good that this is one time I will bypass the not so great service for a good meal. Note: This is not your typical "fast food" restaurant. So if you are in a rush call ahead and place your order. I can only speak for the few entrees I have tasted at this restaurant-but if those items are any indication of how the rest of the food taste, I recommend that everyone give it a try. My favorite items are: Shish Tawook sandwich, Lemon Sauteed Shish Tawook and the Chicken Gallaya sandwich. Each time I purchase those items I always always add a side of garlic dip to my order. The garlic dip is to die for and goes well with the pita bread that they give you with each meal. The second best part of the restaurant is each entree is served with awesome buttered rice and salad or soup. Portions are large enough for two meals for me therefore I enjoying having what I order for dinner and lunch the next day. So if you are in the Romulus area or visiting the airport or willing to make a drive for some superb food like myself, I encourage you to give this restaurant a shot. read more
