I was particularly impressed by the massive wall-to-wall screen that served as a stunning backdrop with different picturesque scenes displayed. I almost ruled BnA aka Before n After out because on social media, the shop was marketed as a cozy Ghibli vibe coffee shop. In the online reels, there's a giant monitor that projects cozy clips, but beyond that, it is not Ghibli-esque. For example, the chairs aren't comfortable to be considered cozy, so I knew I would have been bamboozled if I went in expecting that. Thank goodness I stopped by this place one night because it was opened late and close by one of the public libraries. It was too late for coffee then, so I had asked an associate what she recommended. Jayme was very patient, welcoming, and polite to my friend and me. She took the time to answer our questions about the items on the menu and shared what her favorites were. Based on the recommendations, I opted for the the Aloe-Ha drink, it's the blue colored drink that is refreshing, not too sweet, and just a perfect kind of light tea with what I believe is aloe vera jelly, basil seeds, and some coconut. Totally would come back again for this drink. My friend got their rice latte, which reminded us of a coffee tasting like cereal. I really loved their butter scone too. It's dense enough, not too sweet, with a piece of butter, and drizzled caramel. Probably one of the better ones I have had, and I am told this is made in-house. One of their best items that isn't marketed or explained enough (unless when asked) is their Kaymak dish. Kaymak is like clotted cream, but a little sweeter. Clotted cream is usually eaten with scones, but with Kaymak (the cream), it just depends. Here, the shop serves it with sliced toast and some honey drizzled. It is a very comforting dish, and tastes really good! In all honesty though, it is a bit overpriced by my standard for about $8 for cream, drizzled with honey, sprinkled with pistachio, and 4 thin slices of toast. I recommend they elevate this somehow with what they're charging. But the dish is definitely worth trying for those who love clotted cream, which isn't always easy to find in the USA. They make the Kaymak in-house as well. I did like the place overall, that I came back twice in a week with the bestie to force her to try their items. This time, it was Kyle who assisted us, and he was just as friendly and helpful. Consistently good customer service both times I went. They bring out the order to your table and will provide utensils and napkins too. Restrooms are clean, but parking can get challenging given the plaza space they share with other businesses. This place has the most unique decor because of its large LED screen which covers an entire wall with different scenic background each day. It's almost like a mini IMAX screen where it makes you feel like you're in a different place if you are sitting close enough to the wall. It also has a bookshelf with several betta fish in tiny glass bowls. I think there are at least 10 of them. Tried five different drinks so far and my favorite is its Cinnamon Toast Crunch Matcha Latte. It's just a well-balance drink with just the right amount of sweetness and smooth matcha flavor. It has ceremonial grade matcha with oat milk, sea salt cold foam, and topped off with Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal pieces. It was weird at first but I finally go the flavor after about five minutes. I still prefer more traditional fruit flavors like strawberry and blueberry when it comes to matcha based drinks. Korean Rice Misutgaru Latte was soothing and tasty. It's a grainy, nutty drink for those that are not familiar. Good drink option for little kids since it doesn't have any caffeine. Korean Pear Espresso Tonic sounded interesting on paper but didn't think it added much to the flavor. The pear puree mainly added sweetness to the drink but I couldn't really taste much difference from a plain espresso tonic. Still good but just didn't taste as unique as I expected. Brown Sugar Tiger Milk Tea was good but was too sweet for me. I'll just have to remember to ask to make it less sweet if I get it again. There isn't any tea in the drink so it's another good option for kids. Service has been good. Each time I've been here, someone always brought the drinks to my table instead of just calling my name. On this visit a winter scene overlooking a city is shown, as seen from a snow-covered balcony, making you feel as if you are there. Snow is falling, actually moving on the screen, as is steam from a hot cup of coffee and a flickering candle. I'm told this visual display changes (not sure if it's daily or how often). I ordered a hot vanilla latte and a chocolate chip-walnut cookie from the small pastry case. I took a seat at a table and my order was brought to me. The fellows working here were very warm and welcoming. The cookie was fantastic and the latte, while initially served a bit too hot for me to sip, ultimately was full-bodied and smooth once it cooled. Their menu has various matcha and coffee-related items including some Korean-inspired drinks like a Korean pear beverage. I opted to go with my usual current favorite - an iced matcha latte with almond milk and no added sweetener. They label the type of ceremonial matcha they use as well. I really enjoyed their matcha which I believe they take time to whisk. Not too bitter with some earthiness. And the almond milk they use complements the matcha super well. I usually hang out in Irvine, but I also come around Buena Park and La Palma pretty often. Since La Palma is small, I think I've been to almost every coffee shop here. I love that it's not street parking. Personally, I prefer coffee shops where I can sit, read a bit, and work on my laptop, and this place is perfect for that. I ordered a regular iced matcha latte, and I think there was an extra charge for ice. It came out to over $8 for a single cup including tip, so it is quite pricey. The matcha is decently sweet, smooth, and has a rich flavor. It tastes exactly like what a matcha latte should taste like--nothing more, nothing less! Would I come back? That's the most important question for me. If you ask me 'do you want to come back?', I'd say... not necessarily. I wouldn't drive all the way here just because I'm craving their matcha. But if I happen to be in the area and need to go to a cafe, it's worth a visit. The staff seems friendly and nice too! Having cinnamon toast crunch in a drink was a good move because it works really well with the matcha. One of the best, unique matcha lattes I've had in a while. Also love how it came with oat milk! (4.5/5) **Boat Latte: The initial sip of espresso was disgusting due to the sourness as stated in the drink above. However, the drink as a whole mixed together made it more pleasant to consume. The sweet cold foam with the biscoff flavor and oat milk was great. I just wish that the biscoff flavor was more powerful because it was on the lighter side. This would've been a perfect drink if the espresso was good but sadly, it didn't quite hit the mark because of that very reason. (2.5/5) I am very disappointed with this place. I really wanted to like it but the amount of disappointment with their espresso is too high. I'm not sure if the quality of their espresso is usually better and I came on an off day or not but from this experience, I am most likely not going to return because there are plenty of coffee shops out there these days that have an excellent quality of espresso every single visit. The girl working the front greeted us with a smile from the beginning to the end. There was a man that brought our CTC ML from the back of house to the front and he showed no facial emotion. When I said thank you for the drinks, he still didn't smile or say a word. As someone who works in the customer service industry, a smile goes a long way especially if you're a new business trying to succeed in 2026. I understand this is a new business and there are some kinks to work out but the overall experience didn't hit the mark I wanted it to. This visit was more like a 3.5 out of 5 star experience but due to the quality of the two drinks with espresso, I have to keep it on the lower end. I super love everything that I got. I was tired from work and needed a pick me up, stop by this place and did not disappoint! The drinks taste soo delicious, perfect balance of sweetness and strong of tea. I super love the Ube matcha latte and Biscoff latte. The pastries are always fresh and cooked every morning from the owner. The vibe is soo chill, very aesthetic! The ambiance have Plenty of seating, there's board games and perfect place to hang out and study. The service is amazing! Super friendly and drinks and pastries came out really fast! My new go to spot!! I was recommend this place through TikTok and it did not disappoint! I discovered it's only 5 minutes from my work and have been coming back at least once a week since. Their drinks are so delicious. The Boat latte isn't too sweet despite which is how I prefer my coffee. My coworker got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch matcha which actually taste like the cereal which she's super impressed by. The staff are always super friendly and attentive. I was being super indecisive the first time I came and they were patient and helped me pick out the drink I was happy with. It's a chill spot and perfect for hanging out with friends or to do work. Before N After is such a vibe!! The interior is super cute, but the real star is the huge scenic widescreen wall that makes the whole space feel calm and immersive while you're hanging out or getting work done. Great place to chill for a bit. The Aloe-Ha (sparkling aloe vera + coconut water) was super refreshing -- light, slightly sweet, and perfect if you want something hydrating but still fun. Paired it with their matcha cookie, which was delicious. Came back a second time and tried the Jeju Tangerine Espresso Tonic -- bright, citrusy, and carbonated with that coffee kick that definitely kept me going during a work session. Wifi is solid, service was friendly and welcoming, and overall it's just a great little café to hang out, snack, and get some work done. Came here for the first time and it did not disappoint. Service was amazing. After we ordered, they personally brought our food and drinks to the table! We got a strawberry lemonade for the boy and it had the perfect tartness. Loved the strawberry bits Also got the boat latte which is a biscoff oat latte. Definitely could taste the oat milk. The biscoff made the drink the perfect sweetness. Bakery items that we got were the blueberry bagel, asiago bagel, and a butter scone. Definitely could tell that these were homemade as it did not look like the one you buy in the markets. It was delicious Also love the decor the store had. I had a decent afternoon at before n after. It was a rainy day so felt nice and cozy. I ordered the pear espresso tonic and it was really good! I wish they had simple syrup to sweeten it a bit (all they had were syrups that don't mix well with a cold drink). The workers were very kind and lovely. And the large LED screen had a cozy animated cafe on it. I'm docking off two stars for the following. First at the register there was a sign that says "Proud Supporter of La Palma Police Department." That was off putting and I won't be back so long as that is there. Second, the cafe has those cheap, awful metal chairs that are very uncomfortable to sit on. That's always a sign to me that low cost is more important than comfort and aesthetic. I wouldn't dock this for a cafe that is lower in budget, but based on the other decor and investments in design, these were off putting. B read more

The honey oat latte and the kaymak are heavenly and are so delicious they will make you slap yo mama. The ambiance is immaculate and I highly recommend it to anybody.
