All of the specialty drinks are tasty, but I would rank them from most sweet to least sweet as cinnamon toast matcha-Korean pear espresso tonic-BOAT latte. I was so impressed with the Korean pear espresso tonic, which presented a different flavor combination than the usual espresso tonic with OJ. The espresso almost tasted nutty, and the carbonation almost makes the coffee more fragrant. Strong flavor from the Korean pear syrup, but not too sweet. The employee at the register also recommended the chocolate chip cookie for the walnuts in it! I also tried the blueberry scone and it was pretty moist, more like bread than a Western-style scone. As noted by other cafe patrons, the cafe decor is so cute!! It's a peaceful place to chill with a variety of interesting and tasty drinks. I will def return to try more coffee and the Jeju tangerine matcha. read more

I've sampled several options, and the Boat Latte is my favorite. I don't usually like sweet coffees, but it's sweet without being overwhelming and still has a strong coffee flavor. If you enjoy espresso tonics or matcha, they offer several unique options that I haven't seen at many other places. The scones and other pastries are made in-house, and I really enjoyed the bagels. This is a great little coffee cafe located in the Centerpointe plaza. I loved the modern interior and the cool design. My favorite thing is the gigantic LED display covering one wall. On this visit a winter scene overlooking a city is shown, as seen from a snow-covered balcony, making you feel as if you are there. Snow is falling, actually moving on the screen, as is steam from a hot cup of coffee and a flickering candle. I'm told this visual display changes (not sure if it's daily or how often). I ordered a hot vanilla latte and a chocolate chip-walnut cookie from the small pastry case. I took a seat at a table and my order was brought to me. The fellows working here were very warm and welcoming. The cookie was fantastic and the latte, while initially served a bit too hot for me to sip, ultimately was full-bodied and smooth once it cooled. Such a yummy new Korean cafe in the area! The cafe is located in a plaza with lots of available parking and easy accessibility onto the sidewalk from the car. The interior is bright and cozy with lot of space to sit and chat with friends or study / do work. We tried all 3 signature drinks (cinnamon toast crunch matcha, Korean pear espresso tonic, boat latte) and all were delicious. Most people seem to favor the boat latte! We've also tried the jalapeño bagel, Asiago bagel, blueberry scone, and butter scone. My favorite is the Asiago bagel with garden veggie cream cheese and you can't go wrong with either homemade scone. The middle cafe is set up for a couple or a group of 4, whichever you choose. The far right side is set up next to a backdrop mirage that reflects a casual chairs with middle coffee table style lounge. I've been eyeing Before n After ever since they opened up and had high expectations due to the amount of great reviews and the unique but delicious sounding drinks on the menu. Here's what we ordered: **Korean Pear Espresso Tonic: This was one of the worst espresso tonics I've ever had. The espresso itself was very sour and hard to swallow. The Korean pear puree was overly sweet to the point where I had gotten a headache. The ratio of puree to tonic water to espresso was not even at all which made me confused about the drink. It's as if they added the pear puree to try to save the drinks from the horrid espresso flavor but it failed all marks here. This was the first time in a long time where I ended up throwing away my drink because it was so bad. (0/5) **Cinnamon Toast Crunch Matcha Latte: The matcha portion itself was very good but on the sweeter side. The sea salt cold foam was good especially when mixed in with the drink as a whole. Having cinnamon toast crunch in a drink was a good move because it works really well with the matcha. One of the best, unique matcha lattes I've had in a while. Also love how it came with oat milk! (4.5/5) **Boat Latte: The initial sip of espresso was disgusting due to the sourness as stated in the drink above. However, the drink as a whole mixed together made it more pleasant to consume. The sweet cold foam with the biscoff flavor and oat milk was great. I just wish that the biscoff flavor was more powerful because it was on the lighter side. This would've been a perfect drink if the espresso was good but sadly, it didn't quite hit the mark because of that very reason. (2.5/5) I am very disappointed with this place. I really wanted to like it but the amount of disappointment with their espresso is too high. I'm not sure if the quality of their espresso is usually better and I came on an off day or not but from this experience, I am most likely not going to return because there are plenty of coffee shops out there these days that have an excellent quality of espresso every single visit. The girl working the front greeted us with a smile from the beginning to the end. There was a man that brought our CTC ML from the back of house to the front and he showed no facial emotion. When I said thank you for the drinks, he still didn't smile or say a word. As someone who works in the customer service industry, a smile goes a long way especially if you're a new business trying to succeed in 2026. I understand this is a new business and there are some kinks to work out but the overall experience didn't hit the mark I wanted it to. This visit was more like a 3.5 out of 5 star experience but due to the quality of the two drinks with espresso, I have to keep it on the lower end. I had a decent afternoon at before n after. It was a rainy day so felt nice and cozy. I ordered the pear espresso tonic and it was really good! I wish they had simple syrup to sweeten it a bit (all they had were syrups that don't mix well with a cold drink). The workers were very kind and lovely. And the large LED screen had a cozy animated cafe on it. I'm docking off two stars for the following. First at the register there was a sign that says "Proud Supporter of La Palma Police Department." That was off putting and I won't be back so long as that is there. Second, the cafe has those cheap, awful metal chairs that are very uncomfortable to sit on. That's always a sign to me that low cost is more important than comfort and aesthetic. The Cinnamon Toast Matcha Latte tasted good at first, but as I continued drinking it, the flavor became unpleasant. The cinnamon cereal and matcha combination started to taste similar to spoiled milk, and the matcha flavor itself was barely noticeable. It was enjoyable for the first few sips, but the taste declined quickly afterward. My friend ordered the Biscoff drink (I don't recall the exact name). It was decent, but it did not taste like what was described on the menu. The listed flavors were not very noticeable, and overall it tasted more like a standard mocha latte that you could get at many other cafés. On a positive note, the café's interior is very clean, cute, and aesthetically pleasing. However, the space was quite hot during our visit, and it did not feel like there was adequate air conditioning. All I can say is WOW!! My husband and I dropped into Before n After for some coffee after driving in from AZ. It's a cute little coffee spot with ample seating and the coolest floor to ceiling LED screen where they play different relaxing scenes (they were playing some Studio Ghibli while we were there!). If I lived nearby I would definitely stop in to study or work since it's such a cute vibe. Now onto the drinks and food. I got the biscoff oat latte and my husband got the Korean pear espresso tonic. My drink was perfectly creamy and sweet but the pear espresso tonic was like nothing we've ever had before. It was soooo good with a little fizz and delicate pear flavor! I definitely recommend giving it a try. For food we tried the everything bagel with garden veggie spread, butter scone, and chocolate chip cookie. The bagel and scone were definitely the stars. Such a delicious, flavorful spread and my husband and I agreed that the butter scone was the best we've ever had. She especially loves scones and lattes, and she absolutely loved the atmosphere--it seemed to perfectly match the warm, nostalgic vibe that people in their 40s and 50s appreciate. Inside the café, there's a large screen installed, and depending on the music and the mood of the day, the visuals change, giving off a dreamy, almost surreal feeling--like stepping into a dream. The owner, who genuinely cares about things like growing real moss and raising goldfish, has infused his expertise into every corner of the interior décor. It felt incredibly warm and welcoming. The place seems perfect not only for pastors or church members to gather, but also for simple business meetings. I always order a scone, and I especially loved their specialized baked goods. Considering the price, the value was excellent, and the matcha flavor in particular was surprisingly enticing. She cashier helped me with finding a drink that was sugar free and tasty. Did she deliver! It is a simple sugar free iced latte but it has that something extra special. The flavors of the coffee are exceptional and the balance of sweetness was just right. When my friend and I received our drinks the server suggested we mix them up a bit to fully enjoy the drink.
