Unfortunately this is my newly updated review after my last visit. We came for oyster day (our mistake) , we came with reservations and got here at 6.20 and when seated there was really only three tables in the restaurant. We ordered our oysters within 10 minutes of sitting down as we just ordered 3 each of the 4 specials they had that day. We waited exactly 1 hour and 3 minutes for this order. During the waiting process our server came to check on us once and we asked if we were going to be receiving our oysters soon and the level of unprofessional customer service I received was baffling. She said can't you see it's busy? And I can't go in and rush the kitchen. I never once asked her to rush them nor did i give her an attitude I was just genuinely wondering when we would receive our order as the table next to us who came AFTER us already received theirs. She then sent her manager over and the manager told us they were actually out of oysters but after some back and forth she states she was mistaken and it will be coming shortly and our order made the cut off as the later orders would have no oysters since they ran out. Another table was seated next to us and our server proceeds to take their oyster order and states the wait times will be long and I don't want you all to get upset at me like others and proceeds to look at our table . This was very unprofessional and rude. We got our oysters after 1 hr and 3 mins and shortly after speaking to the manager. I will give her credit as she was very nice and understanding. Also the first picture of the lobster roll was from my recent visit and look how the size is so different and no longer comes with any chips!!! And the bun was so oily for some reason. Overall, I did leave my name with the manager but have not been reached out to. Not sure if I'll be back though this was a place I previously frequented when I wanted some seafood. How unfortunate and the server never apologized for her attitude nor did she bring us the check, we paid at the counter and still left a good tip despite this unfortunate dining experience.
Beetlecat was such a good experience overall. The fry bread was delicious and reminded me of a scallion pancake, and the baked oysters were phenomenal. The cocktails were also really good, and the service was excellent. The only thing that kept it from being a 10/10 for me was the little charcoal sausage platter, which I didn't love. Other than that, I really have no complaints and would definitely recommend it.
Such a classic. That fry bread is to die for. We almost order one per person. Their seafood is great and I've even been to brunch on the weekend.
Came back for happy hour! Prices have changed, and so has the menu (I believe) but the quality hasn't. I enjoyed the oysters on the happy hour menu and decided to try their grill items. I got the steak, octopus, and shrimp. Definitely would get the steak and octopus again but I'd skip out on the shrimp. The waiter explained that the chef's intention was for you to make little wraps out of the protein which I did. This was actually really good and I think could sub as an appetizer (definitely not a whole meal) and was a great addition to everything. The coconut fried rice was also really good as I had remembered. Overall, BeetleCat is such a great patio with good food and a great location!
BeetleCat is probably my favorite spot in Inman Park. Love the decor and atmosphere and how you can have your choice of experience with the more traditional restaurant at the main level or the 70s living room decor in the lower level. Of course, the food has been excellent across the board every time I've been. Always get the fry bread to start. It's just the perfect combination of sweet, salty, crunchy, and light. My favorites are the spicy shrimp noodles and the angry mussels, but almost everyone I know raves about the Moqueca stew. Pro tip: come for oyster happy hour and stay for dinner.
I was so excited to come and try this chicken. I saw it on Instagram and assumed it would be so flavorful-- boy was I wrong. This meal lacked so much flavor and seasoning. The chicken was basically just coated in panko and had zero flavor. The only redeeming quality was the anchovies and caesar dressing-- but even those desperately needed citrus and seasoning. This was an extremely disappointing meal. The service was also just okay. I was meeting with friends for a catch up dinner and felt really rushed through my meal. Overall, won't be back.
I am pretty sure I have made my last visit to this restaurant. The restaurant has been reported to have the best lobster rolls according to Maine's Down East Magazine. I am going to respectfully disagree that they have the best lobster rolls. I have dined at this restaurant on at least 3 different occasions. I am not really sure why I keep returning, because I never leave feeling as though I had a great dining experience. Let's start off with the good: The restaurant decor is always nice. During the holidays they even decorate the bottom area with festive decor. They have a. Nice patio too. The service has always been good ! The not so good: To start I hate coming to this area. Parking is always an issue. While you can find street parking, if you park in a garage you will be paying to park! The main area of concern is that the food is just ok to me. I have tried everything from brunch to the lobster rolls. Nothing has left me wanting it again! The lobster roll is just not the best. I am unable to pinpoint what is missing. It just does not do it for me. I am a huge fan of seafood. Unfortunately this spot does not come to mind when I think about the best seafood in the city .
Decor/Vibe - The upstairs portion of BettleCat features midcentury blue toned decor and a quieter atmosphere whereas the downstairs has a warmer look and livelier vibe. The DJ was also good! Drinks - Royal Hawiian. Substituted the gin for tequila. Enjoyed it! Old Fashioned - too sweet. Entrees - Spicy Shrimp Noodles. This dish couldn't make its mind. Is it ramen? Is it stir fry noodles with extra extra sauce? It was like ramen with heavier broth. The flavor was so concentrated that the first few bites were good, but then I was over it. Moqueca Stew - this dish was very good. A unique flavor profile. At first, it tastes familar, like a Thai curry sauce, however, the usual sweetness from coconut doesn't push through a lot. Instead, you taste jalepeno and cilantro. I like my food salty but it might have been a little too salty. Still, it was very good. Dessert - we ordered the chocolate cake. Ummm no they didn't do that to my chocolate cake. But I loved that we told our server, Alexander, and he swapped it out for the sticky toffee cake, which was wayyy better! Overall, I would go back to BettleCat.
BeetleCat is easily becoming one of my favorite seafood restaurants. The service is impeccable and everything I try on the menu I enjoy. What's not pictured are the oysters which are always fresh and I've tried different entrées and these ones didn't disappoint. Admittedly, the lobster knuckles were tasty, but were a little work to eat but highly recommend the charcoal grill as they have different options and the sauce that comes with along with the lettuce wraps, gives it a nice crunch and finishing. The sticky toffee cake with the ice cream with scrumptious so make sure to leave room for dessert. They have an upstairs dining area as well as a downstairs area that also includes a bar. On the weekends there is also a DJ. Definitely a vibe.
I liked the ambiance of beetlecat and the wait staff was nice. The oysters we ordered though were not to our preference. We did enjoy the fry bread tho! Overall we might check out the holiday themed bar at beetlecat before it disappears or come back when the oysters are more fresh! It was probably just a hit or miss day which happens.
We ordered the lobster roll because of all the great reviews. The lobster was cold and there were shell pieces in it, almost broke my damn tooth. Picking shell out almost every bite for $38 bucks.. hard pass. Guess I'm still on the hunt for a proper lobster roll. Music & vibe and service was great though!
Yapped so much that I didn't get quality pics however let's just say the food was incredible and the staff members were amazing!! We had reservations and our table wasn't ready and they were very accommodating and gave us a glass of champagne on the house. Mallory was our server and she was attentive and we even witnessed her following up with the bar due to a long wait time for our drinks! We sat outside downstairs near the den for their Christmas pop up! The heaters were a great touch! The fry bread was delicious and the honey butter was chefs kiss. We also had the kale salad which was very fresh it had some sort of fruit in it and I'm not sure exactly what it was but was fantastic. We both ordered the spicy noodle shrimp and it was perfect for the chilly weather and the spices definitely opened up our sinuses!!
Visited BeetleCat during Christmas. Sat outside since it was fully booked inside. The heaters kept it comfortable and the festive decor was nice. The food was good. I was excited to try the fry bread, it was fine but overhyped imo. I really enjoyed the mussels. Overall, 4/5.

What can I say bad about this place?!? Almost nothing!! Everything was delicious! You can't go wrong if you want to eat oysters. Definitely one of the best oyster bars I've ever been to thus far. If you enjoy fish and chips this is a dope spot as well. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because the honey butter bread was a bit misleading.. It wasn't sweet at all but it was a descent piece of bread. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! read more
Friendly service and fresh seafood. I tried the lobster roll for $30. The lobster was simple and topped with an aioli sauce between a toasted bun. While I enjoyed the roll, I wish the lobster was seasoned (maybe lightly buttered) as it was on the plain side. But I still thought it was good seafood, just not what I expected when I heard lobster roll. The collar fish was $18 and cooked well with a sweet and spicy kick. The portions are on the small side so be sure to get sides or be ready to eat soon after. The coconut pie is delicious with a fresh cream on top that isnt sweetened. Street parking around the area is available. Theres a lot of parking along victory sandwiches that you can walk from if you cant find closer parking. read more

Dinner was amazing as usual. We had the mussels as an appetizer. The first batch was a little too gritty for our liking. Our waitress Corrina was nice enough to take them back and give us another batch. The second time around was perfect. I always get the lobster roll which never disappoints. My guy had the fish and chips. The malt aioli was a great dipping sauce to compliment. The food, customer service and ambiance were on point! read more

We had an amazing experience here! First of all, the service was exceptional, very friendly and attentive. They are also taking many measures to ensure guest safety during COVID. We sat in the Den downstairs, which is a more dim and laid back setting compared to the main dining room. There's a menu to order different kinds of oysters individually, which we ended up ordering about 2 dozen. However, they all tasted pretty similar to us (we're no experts though). But the Lobster roll was the clear winner of the night, it lives up to all of the hype!! We even ended up ordering another one to split. We finished off with the coconut pie, which had toasted coconut and was very delicious. Overall, great experience at Beetlecat and we will definitely be eating here again! read more

A quaint restaurant with a rather different type of desert menu. My friend and I visited this restaurant for the first time while visiting ATL. We were drawn to their Lobster Roll and donuts which we saw photos of on Yelp. This particular weekend was Valentine's Day weekend so when we called to see about making a reservation, they were totally booked, however said seating at the bar was first come first served. We decided to take our chances as we did not want to leave ATL without experiencing their Lobster Roll or donuts. We went for their Sunday brunch and was able to be seated (HYPE)!! Our waiter, CeCe was very nice. She suggested the Lobster Roll (which we ordered of course) and gave us several donut suggestions; I chose the Death Monkey and my friend chose the Italian Soda and the Plain Jain donuts. When I tell you the Lobster Roll was amazing! That's an understatement. It's real lobster meat on a nice butter bun. They give you a lemon on the side which I drizzled over the lobster....YUM! They also give you chips on the side. You can have the roll cold or hot, we chose hot. So delicious! The Death Monkey, very rich and the banana filling was good too! I only ate half of the donut because it was so rich, but still delicious as well! I will absolutely visit this establishment next time I visit ATL! They have this glaze chicken sandwich and an oyster bar that I want to try! P.S. they are practicing social distancing and taking COVID precautions. read more

We went to Bettlecat over the weekend for some Lobster Rolls and delicious drinks. The host and hostess were super friendly and helpful. It was about a 30 min wait on a Saturday night for 5 people. Not bad at all. Once we were sat down it took about 10 mins until we were helped. Seemed like there was a lot of confusion in the air. We went ahead and ordered our food, water, and someone ordered a cocktail. Once she got her drink my friend and I ordered ours. Our food came out super quickly which was great because we were starving. But We had to wait on our cocktails for about 25 mins. Throughout that time we told about 3 people we were waiting on it. I really want to leave a great review because the food was phenomenal but that 25 minute wait for an $11 drink was crazy and really upset me. read more

I went here for the first time on January 2. It was wonderful. I have never had oysters in ATL. I didn't think they would compare to the ones I have had in NY, NJ and Boston. I was wrong! The oysters were crisp and fresh. I liked the Momma Mia and Pink Moon the best. We sat in the Den downstairs which had a casual fun atmosphere. I highly recommend Beetlecat! read more

Love going to BeetleCat for Oyster Happy Hour... delicious, fresh oysters. Also always enjoy the lobster roll, I can't go there and not get it, it's that good, and no other one I've had in Atlanta compares. I do wish they would bring back the shrimp toast though. read more

Amazing seafood restaurant in Atlanta! Stopped by around 8pm on a Saturday night without reservations and was told it'd be around an hour wait. We ended up only waiting around 20 minutes for bar seating, but I'd highly suggest making reservations beforehand. We ordered: - salt and pepper squid: pretty good, the seasoning was on point and not too salty, but there weren't that many pieces of squid, mainly just fried peppers/onions - half dozen baked oysters: a little too much horseradish for me, but very flavorful and it still had the oyster flavor - mussels: AMAZING. The mussels are in a kimchi creamy sauce which was soo good to dip the bread in (ask for extra bread ALWAYS). Surprisingly very filling as well! - striped bass: 10/10 probably my favorite dish. The dish was very light and aired more on the Meditteranean side than the other dishes which had more Asian influence. The fish was flaky and so well cooked and it really lightened up the entire meal. The service was great. The servers are extremely knowledgeable about each dish and were easy to get ahold of, even sitting at the bar. Would definitey recommend this place to anyone in town with a seafood craving! read more

this place is worth the visit! I was in atlanta for one week and even went twice! MUST HAVE: Asparagus salad - I dont know how they do it but they do it very well. it's tangy and crunchy and all around delicious Seafood stew- basically a curry dish but is not skimpy on the shrimp Schnitzel - the sauce underneath the crispy pork is the perfect bite Oysters - they have $1 specials during happy hour SKIP: Fried Chicken Dumplings Lobster Roll read more
Had the pleasure of dining here for the first time on a Wednesday night. Service was good. A bit slow but it worked because I was catching up with a friend that I hadn't seen in a few years. Ambiance was energetic. Drinks and food were all delicious. The fry bread and oysters were yummy and the shrimp bowl was a pleasant surprise. Not to much curry, just perfect. Will definitely visit again. read more

This place has been bookmarked for sometime now so it was about time I gave them a try. I was a tad bit confused on where to go upon arriving being I entered from the bottom area. There was waiter assisting another table that gave me a tour. Cool little spot no less. Eventually made it to the top floor and sadly I didn't have a reservation but was seated within minutes. After looking over the menu I opted for the burger (no onion/no mayo). It ended up coming with both but was quickly fixed. The food is good for sure. There is one missing photo which is the burger and that's only because it went pretty quick. Will definitely return for the dinner menu. Plenty of parking / attentive staff / cool location. read more
Amazing amazing amazing food and service. The restaurant is in a great location. It's super clean and spacious. The patio is super cute. The drinks were definitely strong. The food was amazing. Oysters were FRESH! The corn appetizer was not cute to eat on a date (heads up lol) it's super messy but delicious Lobster roll is to die for Fish and chips were ok but I love a waffle fry read more

Beetlecat is the bomb.com. My partner and I went here twice in a 24 hour period Dinner is unreal and so is their brunch! Definitely recommend the lobster roll (for both brunch and diner) and donuts as an appetizer (for brunch). If I was trapped on a desert island, I would be fine living just off if their fry bread. Beetlecat is a hidden gem. You absolutely must try!!! read more

Everything about the experience was awesome. The service was great and all staff was in mask attire. The kitchen was running a little bit more slowly due to enhanced cleaning protocols but we were totally okay with that and our waitress did a great job checking in with us and making sure we had full drinks. GET THE FRIED BREAD! If you don't normally get apps with your meal, make this exception. The fried bread was so good. I recommend ordering two! We also got the poke appetizer which was really good if you like poke! For entrees we got the Mahi with spicy pickled veggies and the lobster roll. Both amazing, but I have to give the lobster roll some love. This is not a $30 lobster roll that comes to the table and your left wondering where all the lobster is! This bun is stuffed FULL of lobster for a meaty bite from start to finish. Get the lobster roll! The hype is real! I will be back! read more

Such a cute spot! The atmosphere was delightful. The drinks and oysters are stellar! I found both the Lobster Roll and Fish & Chips to be slightly underwhelming. The fingerling potatoes in the Fish & Chips were very tasty. However both the Fish and Lobster were not as flavorful as I had hoped. Will definitely be back to try more menu items! read more

The place was clean, nicely decorated, great menu options, the waitress was very nice ( answered all our menu questions in detail ) and the food was delightful. I tried the MOQUECA STEW and my husband, the WINGS Ps: the waitress gave me a postcard from the restaurant. I could write to anybody in any place that they would post it for free . What a sweet complementary! ( less than 1 month my sister in law sent me a picture of the card we write to her ) Will definitely come back!! read more

Vegan Friendly Review: Late Review: I decided to take my wife here for a Mother's Day weekend dinner. As a Plant-Based Vegan I was a bit concerned I would SOL for this meal lol . I was amazingly blown away by BeetleCat and how they catered to us! My wife got her seafood/lobster roll fix and I got sides of Asparagus, baby carrots, snap peas and gourmet waffle fries. This was one of the better meals of small plate items I have had in awhile. Everything was outstanding from the service to the food. read more

BeetleCat is an ATL favorite that truly deserves fives stars, plus one! I must admit that I've been here several times, but am just now deciding to leave a review. Before posting a review I wanted to ensure that each time I came I received the same level of great service as food. Let's just say that I haven't been disappointed. Great spot for date night and or groups. If you don't feel like waiting, you can usually get seated downstairs fairly quickly or weather permitting you can dine outside. My faves are the oysters and the lobster roll. I'm also a fan of the mussels with the toast. The toast...man, did I tell you about the toast??? Save room, because the toast is soooo good that; never mind. Just get the toast...lol. The only complaint from my group across the board was that the cocktails were not strong enough. I opted for the Tiki Torch and was pleased once they added a little more of my good friend Elijah Craig. Good times here! I'll definitely be back. Btw, I sat outside... read more

Can you order oysters for sat brunch time?( not happy hour)
You can't order them DURING brunch, BUT, you can order them from 3pm-close as beetlecat offers a midday menu as they transition from brunch to dinner in between their Saturday and Sunday brunch shifts :) happy shucking!🦐
Do they offer grilled, baked or char-grilled oysters?
Baked! Adorned with Brown butter, horseradish, Parmesan, breadcrumb, and chives! It's a true fan favorite at beetlecat! 😋
What time is the happy hour special for oysters?
4pm - 5pm Mon - Fri Make reservations if you want a table and not the bar!
Is this place kid friendly?
Yes, we have had kids there several times for dinner. I recommend a reservation via Open Table so that they don't have to wait. They have a great kids' cheeseburger on their kids' menu as well as plenty of crayons.
Are there any vegan options outside of the menu?(asking for a friend😁)
If you're looking for a vegan option that is not listed on the menu- it's best to call the restaurant to find out if they are able to accommodate.
