Beelmans has been a go to for us for a while now Such a cool vide lots of great photos all over the walls. The food is absolutely delicious. I live the vegan menu nom nom wrap is so good spices hit perfectly add some fries with ketchup and cholula and its perfect. The buffalo cauliflower is one if the best I always share these with my husband and we are completely satisfied every time. West coast IPA is my go to FYI. Tonight the music was OFF total 80s vibe and not the good vibe. Ugh.

Popped in here for a while with my husband a few weeks ago before ending our night. The decor and lights caught my attention. It was pretty empty. Drinks were delicious, that husband and I ended up going from "one last drink" before coming in here at about 10pm, to staying until closing at 2. We will definitely be back.

If you are catching a show next door or are in the dtla area, this place is fun. They specialize in vegetarian appetizers but they do have tasty meat options. The vibe is one of a sports bar-we caught a game along with a mixture of local residents and business folks. We have been here several times and gives us a great place to eat and grab a drink.

Cool interior good vibe, the happy hour is also pretty good. The cauliflower and and vegan gochujang wings were pretty good. The viet nom nom wrap also very good, impressive vegan meat. Would come back

I try to visit Beelman's any time I'm in LA. The downtown location is really convenient if you're already going to a downtown event. I've had the tacos, and a few of the wraps/sandwiches and everything has been excellent. I would say they have some of the best vegan food in down town LA. I like sitting in the front patio since there's usually a breeze. I don't drink alcohol so I can't really comment on the drinks.

So glad we stopped by after an event in DTLA! I ordered the Oaxaca Mule and my friend got a sangria, and we split the Rodeo Burger with onion rings. Everything was so delicious! Honestly one of the best burgers and onion rings I've had this year. I low-key regretted sharing because it was that good lol. I loved the wall decor in the bathroom too! It wasn't too busy so we were able to order rig by away at the bar. Definitely coming back next time I'm in the area!

I wanted to love this spot, but I didn't exactly. Overall, it is nice and I appreciate the extensive vegan options (although it used to be fully vegan then added the non-vegan). The food was good but very average, especially for example the fries which are basically crinkle fries out of a frozen bag. The drinks were good so thumbs up for that. We had a straw-basil margarita, frozen blood orange daiquiri and a lavender frozen drink (all pictured here). The place is a bit small, we were out in little patio because we had our dog with us, arrival experience was somewhat chaotic as we had to figure out how to order, get our menus and all. Room for improvement but ok if you just want to chill and nothing special.

I love going to DTLA just to eat here, it's such a laid back atmosphere where you can get a sports bar vibe. Also the plant based food menu is amazing! We ordered the vegan lemon pepper wings, taco trio and "That's a Tasty Burger". The name of the burger tells it all, it was the first to be eaten! The wings were good but I do wish they added more of the lemon pepper seasoning. The Taco Trio was delicious! My favorite was the Citrus Spare "Rib", I've never had a taco with that flavor profile before. The Al Pastor and Crispy Tofu taco both tied for second place. This place is hidden in plain sight and I hope more people visit!

Tachos- so good you can't tell it's vegan

A cool and cute little bar setting with booths to have a bite! I recommend the blackberry mule and tachos- they're so good you can't even tell they're vegan!

Such a pleasant surprise! I was downtown and looking for some late night Vegan food after an event, thankfully I found Beelman's. I ordered the buffalo cauliflower and totchos. Both were great. The service was cool and the restaurant has a dim lit and relaxing atmosphere. I'd definetely visit again!

Beelman's, I'm back!! This gastropub will always get my love... with creative eats that included a 70/30 mostly plant-based menu of savory bites and delights. It's Rustic Pub chic and Downtown LA in the best possible way. A spacious, inviting blend of tavern meets trend. Beelman has a great menu of new American fusion style noms.. Including bowls, burgers, entrees, sandwiches, tacos, wraps and appetizers aka Bar Snacks: definitely try the Totchos, Buffalo Cauliflower, Philly Pretzel and the Vegan Chicken Wings when they're not out : _ ( Stopped in for the first time in a long time with a foodie party crew of 4! Alyssa, Miori and Sarah were the perfect end of the week crew to revisit an old favorite with. Miori enjoyed the regular Wings, Sarah had the B.L.A.S.T. and Alyssa had those perfect Buffalo Cauliflower crispy florets w/ plant based ranch (egg and dairy free). We had cool brews, mules and drink specials. For me it was rose as well as frose all day! Some great craft brews and a mule or two for everyone else in the crew. Our service was amazing - you do order everything you want at the bar where you can also leave your tab open (they return your card to you right away and you just let them know when you wish to close out). Good music, good vibes and plenty of seating to choose from - seat yourself inside at a booth, bar or shared long tables. The patio outside has some great options as well - really nice and well lit (especially at night). Restrooms still as still alternative indie and well kept. The temp is mostly room, but they will adjust to beat the heat and/or humidity (much of that lately). Parking is street or lots only - there is a small lot across the street off of Spring as well as some options nearby on neighboring streets. Only a five minute stroll from Pershing (Square) Station. I miss the Poor Man's Korean BBQ Tots on the menu, but love the revamp and new items too. Definitely stopping in again soon, hopefully you will too!

I came here through a recommendation from a friend that talked highly about the place. I was somewhat disappointed as whatever she raved about seemed non-existent. She recommended it for the awesome cocktails and the exquisite vegan cuisine. When I dined there they had very basic vegan dishes that were not worth the price. Such as sandwiches and tater tots. The menu was also not exclusively vegan or vegetarian. Not that this matters as I am neither, but I am always up for trying different food especially when it was so highly recommended. The cocktails were also basic and nothing special. First I thought my friend just had a bad taste, but then I found out that they changed their menu and that the food is not that great anymore.

I am developing a travel blog with a focus on great food. I only put no more than 5 Pros and 5 Cons for all of my reviews. They are honest and well-researched. Pros: **Atmosphere: It looks like a regular pub with the low lighting and all inside. Bur it has Vegan food and drinks. We ate outside on picnic tables. **Food: For pub food we are really surprised how delicious and tasty the food was--much better than the typical pub with meat dishes. *Dishes: Totchos(addictive), Hummus Plate, Buddha Bowl, Viet Nom Nom Wrap(unique), Buffalo chicken Wrap. All very fresh. **Service: A little confusing since you had to order at a take out window if you were sitting outside. But overall friendly. Food came out very quickly. Cons: **Location: It is downtown unfortunately. Hopefully, LA city can do more for the unhoused. Sadly, you see a lot people roaming the streets.

Can the business confirm it is 100% vegan? Says "plant based", but then others say they have chicken. ty!

They're back to selling corpses :(

Is it all vegan? Menu no longer has symbols online.

    All vegan except chicken wings.

I love this place, but I haven't been here during covid, Is it open for patio dining and what is their schedule?

Yeah they have like 5 tables on the patio. Walk-in only. Safe. Can get a little hood though with the area and clientele. They have security to help with that. But good place to eat and drink during this. Open until about midnight every night. They…

Can anyone confirm if they reopened?

    Yes, they are now open

Is there a gluten free menu online?

    Yes

    Do they sell gift cards?

I don't think so. You can call and ask but they didn't have any kind of memorabilia for sale or any sort of checkout counter for such things. It really is more of a local bar.

Do they show any UFC fights here?

Doubt it! They don't have many TV's... but they might!hope this helps

Page says no dogs allowed. Does that include the patio out front?

Patio out front is dog friendly

The menu says kitchen closes a 12, but yelp says 10, anyone know what time they stop serving food?

    I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure it's 12!

    Is it always 21+?

Yep, they check ids at the door.

Hello, my friend has a gluten allergy. How much of your menu is gluten free or can be made gluten free? Thanks!

They have two gluten-free meals. I think it's not enough to gluten-free person.

What time does the kitchen close?

    10pm.

Are we able to get dinner menu items during brunch?

    You sure can!

But...the food in the bar is definitely sub-par. I was really in the mood for the fish & chips ($25) but was very disappointed. The fish tasted doughy not at all crisp, and the fish was not fresh - had an off taste. I hadn't eaten lunch so I was really hungry & I ate it all, but not good. The fries were typical frozen out of a package & were luke warm at best. It came with cole slaw that was slimey & completely inedible - I mean AWFUL! It's a shame because the place has such character & it has a loyal following, The service is amazingly slow. I was at my table for 10 minutes before I got up & snagged a menu myself. Then, another 10 minutes before I got up again & went to the bar to order, but the barman told me that a waiter would come to my table. Many minutes later I finally ordered. My drink & my water glass were empty forever. I finally had to snag down another waiter to get another drink. I probably will come back because I love the cozy Scottish pub atmosphere, but they have a treasured gold mine here and they are squandering it for sure. No one seems to care. What a shame! It could easily be a really top notch spot. I'm giving this place 3 stars solely for the ambiance.

I have dined at this historic and iconic restaurant a number of times, invariably during DineLA…read moreweeks. When booking another DineLA res, I noticed the Tam now offers a "Walt's Table 31" lunch or dinner experience. Walt Disney's favourite table used to be by request, but the Tam now wisely monetizes the table by making it a 2-hour pre-fixe lunch or dinner experience for up to 4 people. The lunch price was just $4 more than DineLA, so I booked it. Tam O'Shanter, named after a Scottish poem, opened in 1922. It was designed by Harry Oliver, a Hollywood art and set director who also designed the Witch's House (Spadena House) in Beverly Hills. Both are done in whimsical Storybook architecture style. Levels were not used in construction, hence the lopsided/sloping appearance of some features. The Tam became the de facto Disney Studio commissary when Walt Disney and his Imagineers would often come here to eat when the Disney Studio was still nearby in Silver Lake on Hyperion (1926-1940). His regular table is a 4-top in the main dining room, next to a fireplace. The Tam has several dining rooms, plus a bar/lounge. There is a hidden speakeasy on the premises as well. The Tam was the inspiration for the design of the Snow White ride at Disneyland. It's now part of the Lawry's family of restaurants. The Walt's Table 31 experience consists of 4 courses for both lunch and dinner. You reserve and prepay on Open Table with no refunds or cancellations. We originally booked and prepaid for 2 people, but were able to add 2 more and paid onsite for these additional folks. There seem to be 2 lunch and 3 dinner spots available each day in 2-hour increments. Dinner is $20 more but portions are larger. There's a "Walt's Welcome Cocktail" available; any beverage alcoholic or not is not included. Backstories by the server and a few souvenirs (your menu, a pin, a print) are included. Plus you get a punch card for return visits; apparently the souvenirs progress the more times you come. The menu: 1) everyone gets deviled eggs, bacon-wrapped dates (aka Devils on Horseback) and pickled veggies. The eggs had a nice kick. 2) 1st course options were a Wedge Salad or the Tam's Famous Chili. The salad was huge with an abundance of bleu cheese. The chili was very nice, topped with onions and cheese. 3) 2nd course options--there were 4, but we all got either The 31 Burger (Walt's Go-To Order) or the World Famous Prime Rib (California cut). Salmon or a vegetarian dish were the other options. The burger was served open-faced on toasted sourdough, topped with bacon, Scotch Rarebit (a cheese and ale sauce) and onions, served with chili fries. The prime rib, which I assume is identical to Lawry's, was the California cut, served with mashed potatoes and gravy, creamed spinach or corn and Yorkshire pudding. Larger cuts are available. You get horseradish cream or more potent plain horseradish. 4) Dessert--C.C. Brown's Hot Fudge Sundae or English Trifle. The sundae was quite large , topped with whipped cream and peanuts, with a small pitcher of chocolate sauce alongside. The trifle was also large--cake, whipped cream and strawberries layered in a glass. Overall a delish, classic meal served in a historic fun space. That punch card may get more use!

Overall, our recent experiences have been solid. It's always great when an "old favorite" still feels like a good value. I miss some of the menu items like the lentil shepherd's pie, but we have very much enjoyed the hearty English breakfast. They also have a good selection of European beers on tap. Service has been friendly, but it is lightly staffed and pretty slow, so it's not a good place if you are in a hurry. They don't keep an eye on the patio, so if you sit out there, it's best to go inside and let them know. They also seem to have more rules than before - but I have to imagine these have come from experience. I don't think this is an ideal place to go with a large group. If it's a quiet night you might be able to pull tables together long-ways, but most tables seem ideal for 2-4. We come with our dog and sit on the patio when it isn't busy. The dog meals are massive (more food than ours eats in a whole day and she weighs 60 lbs). It's a good value, but beware if your dog is on a diet! The bartenders are friendly, attentive, and genuinely on top of things, which is a big reason we've kept coming back. Over time, we've even met some of the owners, and the place has always felt welcoming and well-run, even through ownership changes. That's why this last visit stood out and not in a good way. The bar was packed for the basketball games, and the staff was clearly hustling. Honestly, they could've used more support behind the bar for a crowd like that. Instead, one of the partners seemed to take on the role of... social host. He made sure people knew who he was, but didn't actually step in to help where it mattered. We've seen other partners jump behind the bar or run food when things get busy, so the contrast here was hard to miss. At times, it felt less like leadership and more like a running announcement tour. Meanwhile, the team that was actually working kept pushing through a packed house. The vibe took another hit with the TVs. With so many screens already locked on basketball, it didn't seem like a big ask to change just one on baseball. One of the bartenders even put it on, but a few minutes later, after a guest played into Mr. Big Shot's ego, he went and changed it right back. Just unnecessary, and honestly felt a little performative. We still like this place and really appreciate the staff who show up and do the work. The most we have seen so far, it was more a "business plan" let's do what Americans may think a German beer garden looks like. Our friend, the LA promoter Vahe, took us yesterday. We found a little gem, grown over the years, with an actual German owner and a service that had more than basic knowledge of German food. Nice! The ambiance was what you would expect from a place like this, less stylish-designer but more owner look-what-we-brought-from-Germany over the many years. The food was actually good, reasonably priced and generously portioned - the sauce platter really deserved its name "platter"- Came with great German curry ketchup. It would be too much to brag about the food, it was decent better than just OK version of classic beer garden dishes. But one has to be fair: where in German beer gardens you find food really worth bragging about? So while I was really tempted to stop at 4 out of five stars, I give 5. After all, it matches my most key how-to-get-5 element: would I do a 30+ min detour just to go here. If someone asked me to show them decent German cuisine in a somewhat authentic ambiance, I would take them here. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy, my boyfriend got the Hungarian brat with spaetzle, and our friend ordered the Hungarian brat on a roll. Starting with the schnitzel: it wasn't completely terrible, but it definitely wasn't good. The breading was some what soggy and sliding off the chicken, and the chicken itself had almost no seasoning besides an odd lemony sourness. The mashed potatoes were honestly awful -- extremely sour, like they were overloaded with sour cream but missing butter, salt, or any real flavor. I LOVE mashed potatoes and only managed two bites before giving up. The red cabbage was overcooked, mushy, and had a slightly off taste. Overall, the schnitzel plate was maybe a 2/10, and those points go solely to the fact that the chicken itself was technically edible. My boyfriend's meal somehow managed to be worse. The bratwurst was fine, but tasted frozen and reheated rather than fresh. The sauerkraut, according to him, "tasted like dirty socks." The spaetzle was genuinely offensive -- mushy, overly bland, and tossed with what looked like hydrated diced mushrooms that literally tasted like dirt. I honestly questioned whether it had gone bad. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself felt dirty and had a strange smell throughout. It honestly seems like a place locals may still visit out of habit or convenience, but it no longer reflects what I imagine it once was. It's unfortunate, because there's something special about a restaurant that's been around for 65 years and still tries to maintain its old-school charm. Sadly, the food and cleanliness just don't live up to that legacy anymore. Save your money unless you're only stopping in for an overpriced German draft beer. We definitely won't be back.

Such a fun awesome experience. A few months a friend was picking up her wedding dress from David's…read moreBridal so I looked up dinner options since we both drove an hour. Didn't want run of the mill food so opted to try Broken Compass Tiki. When we walked in we were wondering what we were in for. After being taken into the restaurant we both fell in love. The place was so fun, the food was epic and service tremendous. Since our first visit literally 4 months ago, I have taken people 3 different times to this restaurant. I don't live any where near Burbank but in the last few months had the pleasure of being near there and telling friends we had to go! It's so fun to go with first timers. Great vegan options too for my friend who is Vegan and usually gets a salad and fries ha.

    - Broken Compass Tiki…read more My girlfriend and I absolutely loved Broken Compass Tiki. I originally found it on TikTok, followed up with a few YouTube videos, and knew I had to check it out the next time we were in Burbank. It completely lived up to the hype. Parking can be a little challenging since it's in Burbank, but we got lucky and found a street parking spot nearby. If you don't get as lucky, driving around the block or into the surrounding neighborhood should eventually turn something up. We arrived about 20 minutes after they opened, and there were already several people inside. By the time we left, the place was filling up quickly, so it's definitely a popular spot. I surprised my girlfriend by keeping the destination a secret and just telling her we were going somewhere fun with a unique theme. She loved it. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Both the bartender and our server were incredibly welcoming. Our server asked whether it was our first visit and took the time to ask what kinds of drinks we normally enjoy before making recommendations. I really appreciated that he wasn't just trying to upsell us. Instead, he explained why he thought certain cocktails were better choices based on our preferences, and every recommendation ended up being spot on. As you'd expect from a tiki bar, the cocktail menu is heavily rum-focused, but there are also non-alcoholic drinks, a small beer selection, and wine available if rum isn't your thing. I ordered the Zombie Magic first, which was delicious and definitely packed a punch. After that, I tried the 100 Year Cigar, a Scotch-based cocktail that was perfect for slowly sipping. Both drinks were fantastic. My girlfriend ordered the Painkiller and the Navy Grog, and she loved both of them. We started with the Shut It Polly wings, crispy chicken wings tossed in a spicy Thai peanut sauce, and they were outstanding. We also ordered the Aloha Dippers with the Cajun seasoning. I paired mine with the Chipotle Citrus Aioli, while my girlfriend chose the Firecracker sauce. Both dipping sauces were excellent and complemented the fries really well. For our entrées, I ordered the Pub Burger with Irish cheddar, onion strings, and horseradish aioli, cooked to order. It was excellent. My girlfriend ordered the Shrimp & Lobster Roll, and we both enjoyed it. The only item that didn't quite meet our expectations was the macaroni salad that came with our meals. We've had some incredible macaroni salad at Hawaiian restaurants, and this one just didn't quite compare. It certainly wasn't bad, but it was the one part of the meal that didn't stand out. One thing that really impressed me was how accommodating the staff was regarding my raw fruit allergy. I explained what I could and couldn't safely eat or drink, and our server took it seriously. He made sure every cocktail recommendation was safe for me without sacrificing flavor or experience. That level of attention made me feel comfortable ordering drinks I otherwise might have avoided. The décor is also worth mentioning. The pirate-themed exterior transitions into a fun pirate-and-tiki atmosphere inside that really adds to the experience without feeling overdone. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations. The drinks were strong and creative, the food was excellent, the service was some of the best we've had in a long time, and the atmosphere was a blast. There are still plenty of cocktails on the menu that I'd like to try, so we'll definitely be back the next time we're in Burbank.
