Beverages of all sorts, inviting atmosphere, decor and layout, yes, yes, with a side of yes. From breakfast to lunch, happy hour to din din, the MB&K is here for you all seven days from 6:30 am until 10pm each night, though I've seen the bar stay open until 11pm or even midnight. Love the vegan, vegetarian and even gluten free items, it's a have health conscious menu as well as allergen aware. Though breakfast could absolutely use an easy straightforward vgn/v option. Great bartenders each time we were here. Good stuff on their flatscreens. Solid servers and restaurant staff. We got to see their holiday/Thanksgiving menu for the day, but stuck with our non-traditional meals. A good variety of American fusion style dishes. Salads, soups, pastas, sandwiches, appetizers/shareables, burgers, plates/entrees, desserts and more. We got sat in the cozy round / circular areas every day we were here. It was cool and kind of nice as you can see all sides of the restaurant area. Definitely will be back soon, hopefully sooner. read more

I stayed here the other day and the lovely hotel and after swimming in the pool, hunger struck. If it was still the summer season, food could've been delivered to me right at poolside, but it's after Labor Day, so it is what it is... Anyway, I decided to grab a short rib quesadilla, which was absolutely phenomenal, especially when paired with the salsa and sour cream. Yum. This is definitely worth getting as the braised meat just pairs so perfectly in the quesadilla. In addition, the chicken caprese sandwich was ordered, which seemed quite healthy, along with a side of fries that were really good. I'm glad I got to enjoy this lunch and if you're looking for an amazing quesadilla from some extremely kind hosts and bartenders, make sure to stop by here for a bite! P.S. The bar was so dope, I loved the lighting and aesthetics. We sat at the bar to drink a bit and ordered some food. We had just ate dinner so I wanted a dessert. My bf got me the crème brûlée tart and it was so delicious, I got it with a little mocha and it paired perfectly. We also got crab cakes and Kung Pao wings which my friends said were really good. I ate here twice during my stay, once for a late lunch and once for breakfast. It's your typical hotel food. The food preparation is always a little off. For instance, they offer a French onion soup in a sourdough bread bowl. I thought they'd put the soup in the bowl in a container so it wouldn't absorb into the bread. Came in the bowl. It was a big soggy mess. There was no broth. The bread was mostly inedible. I ate the crust. The green salad - great components like charred corn and avocado. It came doused in so much dressing I felt like there was nothing healthy about it. It was pretty soggy and unappetizing. Breakfast...the bacon was good. The yogurt parfait had mushy fruit and granola like it had been reused or something, maybe pulled out of a fridge it had been in overnight (a few days). It was like pulling teeth to get service. I had to get up to ask for coffee. I had to remind the server my breakfast companion ordered an almond croissant and coffee and could he check on it because he needed to be quick and cheap, which is why he ordered it. I guess they don't feel they need to give any customer service because a 20% tip is automatically applied to the bill. My advice: Pay for an uber to a different restaurant! read more

I ate here twice during my stay, once at the bar and once in the dining room. Both experiences were just okay. Bar- I arrived to late for breakfast because apparently I did not read the paper they gave me at check in with all that information on it. So I was told if I wait 30 minutes I could order lunch instead. So I sat at the bar and waited, and waited and waited. I was finally presented with a menu, a very limited menu. I ordered a cup of coffee and the wings. Drank my coffee and ate a few wings. The wings were spicy and I liked them. I wanted a refill of my coffee to take back upstairs to my room and was told there was no more. What???? That's beyond odd. Dining Room-Finally arrived in time and received a voucher for the breakfast buffet but I thought I could also order from a menu. This was not the case as a matter of fact. I don't see why it would be a problem but for whatever reason it was so I stuck with the buffet which included all the usual suspects. Fruit, eggs, sausages, bacon, potatoes and what not. Came here for New Years Eve dinner. First off, parking is awful because it's in Downtown LA. We ended up parking in the Metropolis garage. The restaurant "validated" our parking ticket, but it was fake. We still had to pay the full $18. Maybe there was a different parking garage we were supposed to park in. Wish the restaurant had clearer instructions on where to park. The restaurant is located inside a hotel. I didn't have much expectations since there weren't many reviews on Yelp, but I was pleasantly surprised by the meal. The first course was the scallops. There were two, and they were very tender and delicious. The second course was a salad, which was just average. The main course was filet mignon and lobster tail. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish because how can you not like surf and turf? The filet and the lobster were both definitely more on the raw side, but at least it was tender. The dessert was the salted lava cake, which was so rich and delicious. Overall, I would give the food itself 4.5 stars. Ambience is a 4/5 (quite beautiful, but on the small side and a little weird since it's inside the hotel). Service would be 3/5 stars (slow service because they seemed understaffed. They also messed up the salad order for my boyfriend and almost didn't give my boyfriend the apple tart dessert he ordered). Parking would be 0/5 stars. read more

Constant flies at our table which even the waitress recoiled from when she drew close to our table. Ruined an otherwise tasty meal and the kicker is that my wife also got some of her dish on herself by accident when trying to wave away one of the flies trying to land on her meal. When we complained to the staff, they said there was nothing they could do and brought out this lemon (?) Item to ward off the flies. The flies promptly landed on it right in front of her. As someone staying at the Indigo for a nearby event, it's frustrating that I have to leave the hotel to enjoy a quality dinner when half the point of eating at the Metropole is the convenience factor of knowing a fine meal away from crowds is (supposed to be) just downstairs. And it's doubly frustrating that when our meal is ruined by something the hotel can control, their response is to thrown up their hands. read more

Ate here before checking out of Hotel Indigo. My group thought the prices were a little high, but the food was delicious and satisfying once it arrived. Our waiter wasn't very attentive to our table though... there were other tables with larger parties who arrived after us and got their meals before us. It wasn't even busy around 10AM when we came to breakfast either. Our group ordered: Steak and Eggs, Central Market Sandwich, Omelette. Portions were large and delicious for the sticker shock prices. Cool styles, some really good drinks, decent service, I would say they could be a tad more attentive but overall a good place for a cocktail. The only thing I did not like is the bar stools are made for people with small hips and long legs or something. I had to position myself in a way that kept me from sliding off the stool. Overall - Slightly better than average restaurant, a 3.5. Food - The family ordered two quick and easy meals, the MBK breakfast sandwich and a create your own omelet. My MBK was good but lacked seasoning, I think a little salt and pepper would have complemented the feta and spinach. The quick and easy looked good but neither my daughter nor wife were impressed by their orders, "it was average". My son had the omelet and said "it was just eggs" ... understood. We have been to a lot of great breakfast and brunch places, maybe this restaurant serves a better different meal. Wanted to have a little date night with my bf last minute so a lot of our favs were booked. Ended up finding this place and decided to try it out. We were not guests of the hotel we just wanted to eat and drink. We chose from what it looked like two of the best things on the menu, couldn't help but notice their other options were less appealing, their aguachile tower is not a tower, their empenadas are small, etc. but our choices were REALLY GOOD! I ordered the arroz con pollo, so fresh and tender. And my bf ordered the snapper chicharon and it was so soft and juicy. The place itself is small and cute, and the bathrooms are so clean and nice. Metropole was the definition of "okay". We had a prix fix dinner here for a friend's birthday, and for $40, it wasn't horribly expensive by any means, but also not exactly cheap. I started with a salad that people kept saying was "really healthy" which basically meant had no flavor. Really just lettuce with a few pieces of fruit. For my main I had the Honey Miso Baked Seabass which was also just okay, probably lacking in flavor as well (I tasted no Miso). Nothing was bad by any means, it was all just very forgettable and "okay". My friends who had the steak, which they were touting as life changing, said it was just okay. The strangest thing about this place was the service. We had a friend arrive late to the party and they said they would have to cook everyone else in the restaurant's food before cooking his and that if we wanted to order something, and that it would take over an hour (?!?!). It's a cute spot in the lobby of the hotel, but probably just somewhere to grab a drink. read more

The Easy Breakfast was superb: scrambled eggs, bacon, and pancakes were all great and the hash browns were to die for. Sausage was plain and unsatisfying so skip that. Modern decor with flair. Service was friendly. We will come back. The only negative is they don't allow self parking so we had to valet and had to pay $15 (plus tip) and that included validation from restaurant. We'll try to find street parking next time. read more

A new hotel restaurant and bar at hotel Indigo, it's right next to their apartment tower so I think both tenants and hotel guests come here to eat and drink. The bar and lounge was crowded on a Friday night after the game at staples center, but the dining area was actually pretty quiet and low key. The drink menu was somewhat creative, I tried a tequila and gin specialty cocktail at dinner, they were strong and tasty, prices were usual DTLA restaurant and bar prices. Food menu was decent with some Asian fusion items, we had Peking duck buns as starter, they were very yummy, and I liked the pickles. I had kale and brussels Caesar with bacon on the side, loved the generous amount of Parmesan and the veggies were so fresh and tasty. Hubby had slow braised short rib that was extremely tender and flavorful. To be honest the food was surprisingly good in big portions and fair prices. I also had banana foster with vanilla ice cream in a mason jar as dessert, I absolutely loved it. Our waitress was so friendly and attentive that we felt very welcoming and warm the entire time. We had a few more drinks at the bar after dinner, hubby had two Vesper martinis that were great pours, I had an espresso martini and Hendrick's gin and tonic, they were so yummy too. I really liked this low key casual hotel restaurant and bar, it's a good alternative to have a quiet dinner and some drinks in DTLA cause most places are so crowded and loud. Lovely dining experience. Came in to enjoy dinner and a few drinks before a concert. Conveniently within a short walking distance of the Staples Center . Desiray was a gracious , attentive and wonderful host welcoming us for dinner . The French onion soup was exquisite and had perfectly balanced flavor . Burrata and tomato was a treat that you won't feel guilty about contemplating to order another one . Metro burger paired perfectly with my Red Trolley and the Miso seabass a seasoned specialty . Daniel was our server and he was attentive, helpful, and super friendly while not being overbearing. We started with their blueberry mixed drink, I forget the name, but it was fantastic! For our meal, we shared the soyrizo and papa enchiladas & the arroz con pollo. Both were delicious, but the enchiladas were AMAZING. For dessert, we chose the volteado de piña and the mango sorbet. Once again, both were off the hook. The volteado was TO DIE FOR. Probably one of the best desserts I've ever had. Super moist and flavorful and went perfectly with the ice cream. LOVED this place. Absolutely exceeded my expectations. We wanted same-day resevations near the Staples Center for a same day dinner. The better-rated places in LA Live were booked. OMG, we are so lucky we found this on yelp. It was super quiet and chill (the bar had a scene, but the dining room was not crowded) - it's not much farther away than those crazy insane tourist traps. The restaurant has gorgeous design - really clean and modern. The bar was gorgeous and made me a perfectly balanced Hendricks gin, lime and mint cocktail (served up with a single mint leaf, gorgeous). We sat in a gorgeous circular booth, very space age. This is a serious kitchen - even if there are not many patrons, they are busy serving groups in the hotel, but we were wowed. Bread service: count 'em, 3 butters: mascarpone butter, lemon butter, and an herb butter. Fresh olive bread or seeded. I just wanted to keep eating the butter. Farmer's market salad: Nothing mind blowing, but very tasty. Beautifully presented, tasty dressing, nice strawberries, lovely ricotta salata. Honey miso sea bass: OMG, I am so happy someone recommended this on yelp. Delectable. The saffron vanilla cream (real threads of saffron) was absolutely lickable. Perfectly cooked skinny green beans (I am not a green bean fan and they have to be really delicious for me to eat). Companions loved the burger (gorgeous brioche). The steak was good but they thought the pineapple glaze was the only strange, less appetizing part of the meal. For dessert: smores + salted caramel lava cake. The lava cake was extremely tasty, but the temperature was a little off (maybe the salted caramel made the whole thing cooler than it should have been, or maybe it was sitting). Doesn't matter: they comped it when we mentioned it, so I'm cool. I'm not a marshmallow person, but I finished the chocolate ganache over the marshmallows in one of the smores we got. OMG again, so incredibly delicious, I could eat this all day. And the server was very friendly too. In short, a bit of stylish, uncrowded, foodie and drink heaven, just a few blocks away from the madness that is Staples. Wow, this place was amazing!! Came recently for DineLA 2018 and was super impressed by how chic the lobby and restaurant was. Casual chic I would describe it as but it definitely impressed me. The restaurant was bust due to an art convention at the nearby Convention Center. All the attendees came in to eat with their badges so service was a bit slow as we noticed only 2 servers hustling the crowd. From the DineLA menu, I ordered the butternut squash caprese salad, corn ravioli, and Smores for dessert. Omg, the butternut squash was so amazing and cooked perfectly but the portion was a bit small. The ravioli came with pieces of lobster and was so good, I could have licked my plate clean! The smores was blah. I nearly choked on the graham crackers at the bottom since they were crushed so finely, they got caught in my throat. I would not this dessert recommend that to anyone! Luckily, my hubby was full off his menu so he let me finish off his cheesecake. Now that was amazing!! Yum. ***METROPOLE KITCHEN*** We went here for brunch on Sunday and I was very pleased with my food. I ordered the 2 eggs any style which came with a side of bacon, hash browns, and 2 pieces of toast. ($13) My scrambled eggs were so fluffy; they were perfect. I also ordered the Early Bird Smoothie which consisted of acai, banana, almond milk, and other good stuff. It was fulfilling but light at the same time. (Meaning, it's not a meal on its own) The brunch menu was almost similar the one at Perch at a more reasonable price. I'd definitely come back here for some breakfast again the next time I'm in town. ***METROPOLE BAR*** We came here a couple nights for a quick drink before heading out to downtown LA. The bar is kind of small but the seating around it is nice. I believe you have to grab your drinks and seat yourself as the bartenders don't really walk up to you and ask you what you want to order. Came here for breakfast on two consecutive mornings while staying at Hotel Indigo. It is on the pricier side but the serving size (to me) seemed quite reasonable and not too small. As for being baby friendly, like the Hotel Indigo where it is situated, it is not. They only have 1 high chair in the restaurant and the strap is broken so, if you have a wiggly toddler like me, you may be better off bringing a small stroller or portable booster chair. They do, however, have a nice children's menu. We sampled the breakfast menu quite extensively on the two days we visited. I have to say everything we ordered was cooked to perfection: waffles, French toast, omelette, bacon/sausages, scrambled eggs, etc. We were pleased with the quality of the fruits and orange juice; everything was fresh and delicious! Service, as it turns out, varied depending on how busy they were. Our server, on the first day, was attentive and on top of things. The next day happened to be a busier morning (Saturday), thus our waiter was hard to get a hold of, and missing for most of the meal. Went here, ate here with a date, had a blast, my date did too (I think). What followed was she no longer wanted to go out together, it didn't fit her taste buds. I was too tasty for her. I'm selfishly making this review about my experiences with her on a date, I mean there wasn't even free parking only "$17 Valet" or something. The 1 hr and half parking was marginally enough to eat real quick, have a quick conversation, oogle at the surrounding area for a bit, and people watch the bartending area behind us... but OH KNOW the table was a bit far apart from one end so it was a bit less romantic as well. I did want to give her a kiss because we did that before, but I never felt the moment arise properly, and so that night ended abruptly and not the way I wanted it too. How was the service and the food? Pretty good, pretty reasonable price to quality and the waitress was attentive. I ate something she ate something, I left home unhappy :/. Really great FOH team holding up the lobby lounge and restaurant when I was there. I consider myself a nut case to many local restaurants owners. You know that type of customer who pops in 20 minutes before closing; asking you what is the prettiest drink on the menu or any dish that guarantees 200 likes. David at the bar gratified me especially. Each response he gave amused me. Even the guests sitting on the other side of the bar tried not to laugh. LOL I asked if he could fix a cocktail that was sapphire blue to compliment my green dress. He said he didn't have anything bleu. Then I asked if he still has the "edible flowers" that described on the menu which came with the drink. "Flowers all gone." Lol Then I asked for pineapple and he said yes. The drink came without pineapple. My head kept seeing a ring of pineapple or a chunk of pineapple forked with a skewers. After my second sip, oh hell~~~~ I started to see the pineapple; it was there in my drink from the beginning. When you are drunk, you start to see things. Instead of a stem, I saw a pineapple leaf. The outside and the inside of the hotel is very pretty. The restaurant area itself, however, is more of a small portion of the lobby of the hotel. The prices are not too hefty; there was a very decent portion of food considering the price. However, I did expect a larger-sized restaurant based on the pictures.
