It's not often I come to bars inside the downtown part of Los Angeles, but today I did. Dublin's has always been on my go to and it's conveniently close to the metro station. While killing time, I came here on Sunday afternoon to have a lunch. I had their Dub's burger with bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and cheese. The whole lot was very good, very juicy. The basket of fries was a nice crispy side dish. Sunday is an all happy hour special , so I'm enjoying it very much. It's got a lot of age and plenty of seating all over. I'll definitely come back. I can only imagine how nuts it is here on 3/17. One other thing you might notice, their TVs are dated. So much so that you can see stats from a game televised from three years ago on the screens. Weird but i caught it.

Fish & chips

I'm on a quest to find LA's best fish & chips. Of all the places I've tried, this place has the best chips--traditional English thick cut, but with the LA twist (sprinkling of chili powder, which mixes well with lime & tartar sauce). As for the fish, that was sub-optimal, with batter lacking crunch. But the underlying fish meat made up for it--soft and flaky. Right now, the best fish is from England fish & chips in Long Beach. There it's the opposite problem where fish is great, but chips suck.

When Boyfriend and I were long-distance, we would talk about where we wanted to live. We wanted some place where you could walk to cool places. I always included "an Irish pub where we play trivia on Tuesday nights." Guess what we found? We're loving Dublin's. This is our second Tuesday. We had lots of fun last Tuesday. Even though we didn't do so well in trivia. Our waitress is super friendly and attentive. Trivia did start late our second visit. It's supposed to start at 9:30. At 9:33, the trivia comes strolling in and took his time setting up, just sort of meandering around. Trivia didn't start until 9:57. And he says, "We're starting late but that's okay." No. No, it's not. I have had the street dog and a cheeseburger. Both were decent. Nothing special but solid. They have a good selection of drinks. Again, not special but solid. Boyfriend liked the pineapple cider. The fries could use more salt. Boyfriend has had the chicken sandwich and quesadilla. He says they were very good, despite the quesadilla being very thin. It has a great neighborhood pub vibe.

Food is sub-par. Service is awful. Ambiance is non existent. Such a shame considering your in the heart of DTLA, across from the Bloc, in such a nice historic building. Rated below from bad to horrible to worst: We just wanted a place where we can grab a drink and an appetizer. What a complete let down. We entered this Irish themed pub, bar with seating is located in the front with a few high tables on the side. The security/bouncer who was there merely turned his head when he heard door open and just said "sit wherever you want" then proceeded to play this golf game on the big screen that is situated at the corner. (bad) We ordered nachos with steak. The most disappointing nachos I've ever seen and tasted. Chips were stale. The meat was ground beef, unseasoned and chewy. Also based on the cleanliness of the space (our table was dirty, probably from the day before as there was absoluely no one in there) i'm certain their kitchen standards aren't the best and it shows in the food (horrible & nasty) The bartender/owner said perhaps 2 words to us, never checked in, didn't bother to greet, manners were non-existent, he was on his phone the entire time, even came to our table to give us our bill while talkin on the phone. His attitude was as stale as the chips. The entire place needs a new set of management and a lesson is customer service. Throw the whole thing away. A damn vending machine gives better attitude and service than this nonsense. (The epitome of what not to do. The worst customer service ever!) Let's be real tho, if you don't care about your business, I too don't care to support it. Save yourself the trouble, time and money. Go anywhere else. I wouldn't even buy a beer from this place if I was in my ratchet college years.

Friendly bartenders, a solid beer/cocktail list, and *the* best fried pickles I've ever had. What's not to love? Sláinte

May say Irish bar on the outside. They also only had one bottle beer available. They were out of everything listed on the menu.

Updated review, still awful service and gross bathrooms. The place is meant for scum so no wonder that's all they hire.

It's a nice place to stop by after work. Standard sports bar with nothing too fancy. Good for casual drinking and decent food.

What did we do different this time? We decided to sit at the bar where we would be more welcomed. We came during the World Cup and they had TVs everywhere and showing the game and a good ambience. Although we were in the bar area, it still felt family friendly, and they still have the full menu in the bar area. As an appetizer, my boyfriend decided to order the French onion soup to share. I highly recommended! It was so good, it was rich in flavor and the cheese was gooey. It was delicious. For entrées, my boyfriend decided to get the corn beef platter, and I went for the toad in a hole. My dish had a unique presentation with the salad on the side that had a really good refreshing vinaigrette that paired really well with the rich flavor of the meat and the onions. My boyfriend enjoyed his dish as well, and we could not leave without dessert. I wanted to try the sticky toffee pudding. This was served warm with a scoop of ice cream and seasonal fruit. It is a shareable portion and it had a good flavor. Our waiter in the bar area was very friendly and welcoming, and we had a really good time and enjoyed delicious food. Based on this experience, we will definitely be back in the bar area.

The atmosphere has so much character, and you can really appreciate how much history this place has. Our waiter was so sweet and knowledgable. I loved that the experience included stories about Walt and the restaurant, along with a special menu and a pin and artwork to take home. It's definitely more of a special occasion experience than a casual dinner, especially when you consider the price, but I think it's a really cool thing to do if you love Disney history!

We walked in on a Saturday night and service was amazing quick & efficient from the beginning. The gentleman at the door explained the rules (90 min per party) and quickly got us seated. Our hostess was amazing and got us our food and drinks so so fast! The menu is sooo fun and unique. We got the pho French dip and popcorn chicken. Both great. Drinks were strong and the presentation was amazing as u can see from the pictures lol. Also very strong. I appreciate that they had gin options for non rum lovers lol. We will definitely be back to try other menu items. Such a great hole in the wall:)

One time I was sad because they made me wait long as a solo walk-in when I let a couple go ahead of me and I walked out. So keep an eye out, it depends on who's working the front. The reason I still give them 5 stars is because they have since made up for that. It really is a beautiful place, and given that they're a relatively new establishment or a busser could have stepped in if they're busy, so just give them feedback if they need to work on things like that. The food and drinks are so unique to their place, continuing that "hidden jewel" theme. Their menu is limited but all quality food, like you're going to that friend's house and you love their recipe style. I loved the chicken sandwich the best, the crispy chicken was so juicy! Their vegetarian options are devilishly good too, with their happy face potato fritters and fried mac. For drinks, my favorite was the chocolate banana. They use real ingredients, so it really hit the spot for me. The family and kids love it, such a great vibe that you'd never expect.
