I managed to get in here to try the lunch specials. They're actually served anytime if you like, just ask. The place was still crowded with locals from the breakfast crowd at 10:30 even. When it's crowded here, service is a little slower, but they do get to you as fast as they can. They seem to know most everyone that comes in here by name. I think normal lunch time is less crowded than breakfast. Looking at the lunch specials they have a bunch of things for $6.00 and some fancier burgers for $7.50. I went with just the regular burger to see how it was. Served with fries, not a bad deal. The portions were OK, not overly generous on the fries, but nothing to complain about. The burger looks to be a 1/3 lb. patty served on a burger bun with lettuce, tomato and raw onion. I think there was mayo in it too. The whole taste of the burger worked well with this combo and size meat. Like a Double Double at In N Out, it was more of a total burger experience taste mixing with the condiments and size meat, rather than a more meat dominated burger where the star is the 1/2 lb. charbroiled patty. Here the patty is on a flat top grill I think. The fries were crinkle cut and standard. I'd say it was a good deal for the price, but I try next time to arrive when it's not so crowded. In Anderson for a few days. We asked some locals to recommend a good place to eat. Becca's came highly recommended. We arrived just before noon. We were cognizant the place would be closing in an hour. However, to our relief the restaurant was emptying out. We thought we could be served in a timely fashion, and still be able to eat in time for the place to close. We were seated at a table in the back corner. The take out service was moving briskly. It took some time for our server to get one coffee on the table for my wife. My boys and I had water. We ordered off the menu. Then, we waited. And, we waited... And we waited some more. The server came out several times and seated others. Still, we waited. Not once did the server make eye contact with us. We felt unwelcome, Or at least ignored. 45 minutes lapsed. It was a quarter to one. We had places to be. I pulled ten dollars out of my wallet. I placed it on the table to pay for the cup of coffee. We stood up and we left. We left the ten dollars so as not to be accused of leaving on a check. Then again, in the absence of our order being brought to the table... What did it matter? Our fear was, that when the order showed up, the check would have been immediately brought to the able, as our presence would have delayed the staff from leaving. You get the drill; The refilling of ketchup bottles, the refilling of the salt and pepper. The restocking of the jelly on the table, all while the stragglers are trying to eat... I know these things, having been in the food service business for years. As I got into my car, the server came out. "Your food is on the table!" I shouted back; "No thank you! You had 45 minutes to get our order out. It didn't matter to you then. What's it matter now?" I continued; "I left ten dollars on the table for the cup of coffee and the rental of the table space. Becca's is a classic roadside Eatery. We stopped in on a Sunday mid morning and got lucky to find one table becoming available. The menu offers pretty much what you'd expect for an all American cafe. Food: I was a bit disappointed with the lack of freshness and flavor in the breakfast platter I ordered. The biscuits were average at best. The gravy was not real flavorful and had no sausage bits. I was most impressed! I showed up EARLY, took advantage of the early bird special and got biscuits and gravy with hash browns. My meal was PERFECT. Hold on. I'm just getting started. Becca's took me back to the comforts of a two stoplight hometown. They aren't pretentious. Becca's is an experience. Honest and simple, Becca's is that and the whole package. It wasn't long after being seated, greeted, my order placed and a hot cup of coffee in my hand that I realized that my host, my server, my cook and my would be cashier was all the same guy. He was FANTASTIC. He was efficient, kept my coffee cup steaming and served righteous biscuits & gravy with hash browns that were crisp, brown & buttery on the outside yet dreamy soft & tender on the inside. This small intimate restaurant reminds me very much of the past. Upon entering this place you can see there's artifacts of bygone years. The western Americana theme completely decorates the operation. It's almost like dining at a period museum. There's so much to see and read, that before you know it your food has arrived. I need to rave about their delicious breakfast; especially the French toast, eggs and bacon. The portions are generous , the cost is affordable, and the staff is cordial. Little cafe that'll fill up your breakfast craving! We ordered different breakfast plates and they were good, not something to wow about but they're better quality than breakfast chains. The restaurant has an oddly placed restroom. There began my chat with the cooks. Apparently, the place used to be a dentist's office so the kitchen and restroom is at an odd spot. They were nice enough to give me warnings on how to proceed through and out. Overall great place to stop by for breakfast! I just want to start this review to say this is the only restaurant we have found since moving here that is consistently good. Not only that, but Becca learned my fiance's name fast and knows him by his love for burnt Linguiça. That said, when you come to a hole in the wall breakfast place loved by locals as much as this place, don't be pissed if there's a wait when you arrive at 10:30 on a Sunday morning. They do not deserve comments like, "You just lost a $100 table." Dude, like I said, LOVED by locals. Missing your $100 table isn't going to hurt them. If you're that hangry that you're going to be rude to this hard working and wonderful family, please go somewhere else and feed your beast. We all understand. We love not only their business practices, but how they have stepped up in the past to help other local restaurants in time of need. Becca's Cafe is a good place for breakfast and brunch! They are a local type place. A bit out of the main flow of things but I like that about this place. Also, cowboy style interior which I'm good with haha. Yeah, and they are Veteran friendly which I am definitely down with. I talked with the owner and his son is in Afghan. I feel for him. But I got to asked about these care boxes and I wanted to know who they were sending them to. That's how that conversation got started. He wanted to give me a discount for being a veteran but I already paid. I told him it is really okay. He was very nice. This place is definitely a small town breakfast place. For the price and the good service I was pleased with my experience here. I will say their prices are better than the restaurant I went to which was next to my hotel. We paid under $25 for 2 adults and 2 kids. That's a hell of a deal. Good luck to his son and hope he makes it home safe from Afghanistan.
