Omg had the best sandwich so good and onion soup. Will be back again very soon. Second time here with my son this time he had breakfast the French toast to die for. I had the Betty Davis eyes it is so good. Need to keep coming back till we try everything. This is a small intimate place it seems a little busy at times. That just tells you how good the food is here. I can keep coming back again and again. read more

Food is great but customer service is trash. 2nd time I've gone here I tell them I'm not taking it to go and they still tell me well its gonna be to go. Wait for my food and yet bring it out in a takeout bag when I'm clearly sitting on the bench. As I am right now. Also have a few plates of food on the same table I'm sitting at as the server brought my "takeout bag" and did not remove the plates from the previous customers. Won't be coming back here again read more

I love the sign that says "no wifi try talking". I was very excited to try this place since yelp reviews were so good. I sampled the brioche roll, pain au chocolat, and blueberry scone. Brioche roll: good flavor, but too dense for brioche. Seemed like they rushed the 2nd rise and didn't let it rise long enough before baking. Pain au chocolate: bottom was burned yet the rest was actually underbaked. The top layers clumped together. Blueberry scone: cream style scone, very few blueberries. I counted 3 blueberries in the entire scone and also underbaked. Maybe they had an off day in the bakery. These things happen. read more

The good is very good. Bread is excellent. The only thing that made me upset is the hygiene of the food. I saw the chef was cooking with gloves. But he put the raw meat on the grill and used the same hand with same gloves to slice the tomato and put lettuce on my sandwich. Is this a health violation? Then, after I got my food. I saw him making meatballs. And, of course, he did not change his gloves again... I had to throw the tomato and lettuce on my sandwich. But, the meat was really tasty. I did not get sick that day. Maybe I was too picky about the cleanness read more

(3.5, really.) I was here twice during a recent trip to Beacon. The food is good but some of the waitstaff are still trying to figure out how to make this into an actual restaurant, it feels like. Really disorganized. Pros I had the tofu scramble and the vegan pancakes with bananas the next day. I love that they have two vegan breakfast/brunch options, so they get points for that. Also, they are an 80% scratch kitchen, according to one staffer (owner? who was super friendly and cool) which is awesome. Cute, varied collection of mugs. What will you get? The local real estate company advertisement, or the 90s cartoon? Who knows!? Decor, ambiance are all totally on point. Everyone, everything about the space is pretty deligthtful and cheerful. Good coffee (soy and almond milk available!) My friend had an excellent breakfast burrito, as well as some pretty awesome and awesome looking french toast. Word! Cons The service is like, painfully disorganized. On our first visit, our server forgot my coffee (she comped it which was nice) and on our second visit -- the server forgot our order and it took us 35-40 minutes to get our food as other diners came and went. But generally just an atmosphere of disorganization and confusion -- multiple people asking Sunday if they could take our order after we'd given it, the person we gave the order to came by 30 minutes after we ordered "oh, did you need something dear? -- uh, yeah. our food" and they'd clearly lost the ticket. It was still fun and the food is good. There are just a couple kinks in the machine maybe right now. read more

If your looking for a good brunch, Look no further! Your taste buds will thank you. Trust me, you've not eaten French toast until you've eaten it from the beacon bread company. I was already in love with the breakfast wrap I order but stole from my girlfriends plate after she boasted about her food. The food has a nice kick to it that I'm sure you can't find elsewhere. To top it off, the employees were super friendly. I highly recommend to anyone looking for some tasty food. read more

Update to menu pics as prices have skyrocketed here. Huevos Rancheros $14.95. Ok so I expect it to be awesome, wow soooo bad. I have eaten this dish from Mexico to Maine and never had a worse version then this. The dish comes out with cold black bean salad and cold pico all over my warm eggs soaking the toasted baguette into a soggy mess. Who serves cold black bean salad and tries passing it off in Rancheros. This was an overpriced ZERO. My wife ordered The French Toast which was very good with some out of season berries. French toast was a good portion and I finished it because I couldn't finish mine because it was terrible but 14.95 for French Toast? Note , I asked them to reheat my cold offering and they did but it did not help as the vinegar soaked black bean salad that they tried passing off was beyond fixing. I would never return and suggest others find a different place for breakfast. Shady out! read more

Nothing amazing but it's enjoyable. A few sanitation no no's but nothing to be disgusted by (as all restaurants have their fault). Fresh squeezed orange juice is sweet. Definitely pass on the french toast and the odd processed looking pork/turkey "sausage". The omelet was good not amazing but filling. The "hash browns" (aka home fries) we very flavorful and I'd eat that alone, even though I don't like home fries. read more

Food was pretty good but based off the reviews here I was expecting better. Loaded tater tots were good, avocado toast was disappointing.

Thank you, Beacon Bread, for our first local vegan brunch out in ten years of living in Beacon. The scramble was solid, and very very welcome. BB is working on expanding their vegan selections (grilled cashew cheese sandwiches, baked goods, etc.) and we can't wait! For now, happy to come have scramble and read the paper on weekend mornings, and walk away with a nice baguette. read more

A quaint little spot, lots of friendly folks working here and seems like a great hang for locals. Had some oatmeal, which is served up pretty plain Jane (only with brown sugar and butter). Nonetheless, it was just fine. Seemed overpriced ($5) for just a plain bowl of oatmeal. Also had a bite of a daily menu item: hangover special, which was a brioche bun with an egg/fontina cheese and home fries. Pretty greasy and not very well seasoned. Also had an iced coffee which was pretty bad - wouldn't get this again as you could pretty much taste the grounds every time you take a sip. Not sure if they just put ice in coffee but it wasn't the best. Not the best service (timing wise) but staff are all real friendly. I recommend sticking to the bread items here, especially if you're from out of town, as that seems to be their speciality! read more

Went late Saturday morning, extremely over crowded & no real seating system. People come in stand around waiting for an employee to acknowledge them. Servers look lost and are scrambling everywhere. Not sure if it's the manager but she's stomping around making negative remarks to the servers when she's not doing much either? The food was honestly disappointing, especially those prices. I had high hopes with all the good reviews I read before coming. Don't bother, A lot of people walked in and walked right out. Too small of a place, Only 2 (lost) servers, and flavorless food. There are many other places in this area to go to. read more

Absolutely terrible restaurant all around. The restaurant itself was dirty with plates stacked on tables and tables which have clearly not been cleaned since customers left. Despite seeing this I gave them a shot and what a mistake it was. The food was mediocre at best, I had tomato soup and I'm convinced they gave me watered down tomato sauce in a bowl. Extremely acidic and no flavor, the soup did not come with any bread or silverware for that matter. I had to get up and go find where they kept the utensils as our waiter never gave us any, no spoon, fork, knife, or even napkin. The service was so slow the staff would disappear into the back room instead of being visible on the floor. Overall terrible experience, I'm sure this restaurant will be closing it's doors permanently if they keep up this dismal performance. read more

Oh this place is exactly what you want in a small town breakfast spot. The people working there literally know the regulars - they were dancing with the small child and she even had a nickname. If you check in you get a free cookie, which they keep in a jar by the register. It's a no frills place, but when they turn out awesome food who cares? The cheesy grits is cheesy and gritsy and delicious. Their eggs are cooked to order perfectly. Everything is straight forward and delicious. We're excited to drop by again when we're in the neighborhood. Not a lot of seating though! So I imagine there is a wait during busy times. read more

Chocolate croissant was delicious but the atmosphere left something to be desired. Floors and bathroom were dirty.

I felt the women were generous with their smiles and keep a clean restaurant with interesting colors, lots of charm and sidewalk seating if needed. read more

Stopped by after a nice hike at Storm King Mountain. I have been here before and decided to stop by with some friends who were visiting me for the weekend. I ordered the tomato and brie grilled cheese, which was delicious. It wasn't over the top and the bread was cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend it. My one friend ordered a grilled eggplant grilled cheese and the other ordered a grilled cheese with egg! All the sandwiches came with coleslaw (which was a little too sweet for my liking but did not include any mayo which was nice), a pickle, and french fries. The french fries were scrumptious. They were perfectly hooked and the tomato sauce that comes on the side was seasoned with something that added an extra punch to ketchup. Everyone was very satisfied with their orders. We also sat outside, which was a perfect way to soak up the beautiful day. I recommend this place to people who are looking for a nice read more

My fav bakery in the area, and one of the top breakfast spots too. Open earlier than most other breakfast options around, a welcome thing for early birds like me. Wonderful waitstaff, knows all the locals and makes us feel like family. Piles of daily papers available. Big family-style table seating as well as twofor cafe tables and picnic tables outside. As a big sign on the wall says, "no wifi, try talking". :) Oh, and the food. Spot-on. High-quality ingredients, fresh, quirky (like strawberry chipotle butter, buckwheat pancakes, tofu scramble, farm-style sausages....), great vegetarian options. Their bread's the best part: I like just getting a big cup of tea and endless plates of toast with butter and jam. Can't be beat. Fills up quickly with visiting Brooklynites on weekends esp brunch time, so expect a wait. If it's good weather, you could always call ahead to get your breakfast to go, and eat it at Long Dock Park on the bank of the river. read more

I've eaten here for about 2 years now and I'll keep coming for years to come. So after a great lunch yesterday I had to finally give this place a review. The food, service atmosphere is always great. The menu is great, breakfast and lunch all day? Raised Ranch for breakfast, and French toast for a late lunch, awesome. My personal favorites are the Breakfast Burrito and the Rachel sandwich. Bread, this is the whole reason you come here, it's great. Baked fresh every day, you'll never want to buy any other bread.q Service is great, it's a great feeling when you go into a place, they know your name and order. "You want the usual?" Is a common occurrence here. The staff, Kate in particular, are very accommodating, knowledgeable of the menu and quick to suggest their favorites. The atmosphere is my favorite part, it's a growing business and you can tell the owners have put a lot of love into the restaurant. Sitting at a large table having breakfast with strangers? It's part of the fun. The giant "No WiFi, Try talking" sign has spurred several great conversations with other customers. Get your phone out of your face, relax with a cup of coffee and croissant. read more

Based on the reviews, we were expecting to have an extraordinary meal here. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived on a Sunday at about noon. Once we were seated -- out front, sidewalk tables -- it took about 20 minutes before the wait staff even acknowledged us or brought water to the table, so by the time we were able to order, we were a little frustrated but trying to give them the benefit of the doubt because clearly they did not have enough staff to handle all the tables. Food was not bad, but nothing to write home about. One odd little quirk we noticed: every single table had to ask for silverware and napkins AFTER their food was delivered. I don't get that. Why would you bring hot food to the table and then make people wait while the server goes back inside (and this was no quick turnaround) to get utensils? Odd. Anyway, overall... it was not the best experience, but not terrible either. The wait staff certainly tried their best and were super friendly, but it seems like there might be some issues with how unorganized everything felt. Maybe it was just an off day for them? read more

A great place for brunch! I've been here a few times with friends and have always enjoyed eating here. The pancakes are my favorite item on the menu! read more

Sat down and saw some nice bakery items, looking forward to a better than average breakfast. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived, and about a minute after we sat we were asked if we knew what we were ordering. Didn't get a menu, although noticed that there was a scan for menu on the table. Lots of interesting items. Waitress came back about 2 minutes later and asked us if we were ready to order. Not sure what the rush was. After a few more minutes we ordered. Food came and was fine but the bagel with lox had about 1 or 2 slices of lox, not what I expected. We were told decaf coffee could not get a refill, had to pay for another cup. After breakfast asked for check and waitress came with a remote card reader and we said we'd like to split the check. We never received an actual check, waitress just took the cards and charged them, we asked how to leave a tip and she said it's already added, plus a 3% charge for using the card. Breakfast over $120 for 4 people but no check so don't know what we paid for. Left feeling overcharged and somewhat unappreciated as a customer. Decent food, not a place I'd spend my money again. read more

My brother woke me up to eat breakfast here. Being a teenager that values sleeping in more than anything, I was a little reluctant to do so, but it was worth it. I had the Elvis Presley and my brother had the french toast, and both were super delicious. The fresh squeezed orange juice is the best and I need gallons of it. Our waitress was very friendly, polite, and attentive. The atmosphere of this lovely place is very cozy. Definitely would come back again. read more

Just visited this hidden gem in Beacon, NY while passing through to go hiking. Let me tell, from the very minute we sat down Ellery was at our table with a pleasant demeanour. She was knowledgable of the menu and was able to customize our orders to meet our nutritional needs. I HIGHLY recommend stopping here if you're in the area! Food was great, service was great, and the atmosphere is casual with plenty of outdoor seating. Please go visit! read more

Everything is so yummy. We got 2 eggs over easy with toast and 3 egg feta omelette with a grilled baguette. Toast is better! Comes with corned beef hash. It's homemade and gets the boyfriend two thumbs up of serious belly approval. Service is super sweet, and the decor is chill and adorable! There is a sign up that says "No Wifi, Try Talking." If you get the breakfast options with breads, try the toast! The flaxseed sesame was AMAZING. ! Sit by the window and watch Beacon go by. You won't regret it! read more

I wish I would have read the RECENT reviews before wasting an hour of my day waiting for food at the Beacon Bread Company. We sat down outside and waited for 20 minutes before our order was taken. An order was taken by our waitress at the table next to ours immediately after she took ours. We received a cup of coffee with no spoon or sugar and a small cup of freshly squeezed orange juice. We were sitting at the table a total of 55 minutes before we finally got up and left. The table that ordered when we did were already finished with their meal. The owner was very unhappy with us as our food arrived just as I was paying for the oj and coffee. He me the oj was $7 and the coffee was $4. I paid the $11 and left, an hour later. Now that I read the other reviews on this site our experience makes total sense. read more
