Friends and I recently sat down early on a Sunday for breakfast. They weren't yet busy but ramping up. There were several issues with our visit that were not good. First, we were felt rushed by the server, asking for our order before I literally had a chance to take my jacket off. The menu was only available via QR code, not a problem, but give me a minute! The choice I made was the bagel with lox, I don't usually go there but the picture on the menu sold me! Well, big disappointment. I realize salmon is expensive but the amount on my bagel didn't look anything like the menu pic! At $18 it should have been better. You charge for decaf refills? Wow, that's a first for me. The "efficient" service was really about turning tables. I am not a person who is oblivious to a customer line waiting to be seated, we are considerate and will not linger, so it wasn't us, it was the server. Whether or not it is management policy or a server doing his/her own thing - I can't say. I would have given less stars (1-2) but given the fact they are busy and get other more favorable reviews I felt that earned them something. Had an amazing brunch with my son Alek. Simple but fantastic. Homemade tomato soup that is the best I've ever had and grilled cheese sandwiches with homemade sourdough bread. Thought the soup was so good that I asked to talk to the chef Steve and he told me how we made it. Also just a great conversation. Hoping that I can try to make it at home but we will see. Perhaps the Bread is good at this Beacon Company, but I don't feel like returning for the Pancakes or Cookies. I saw the review that said there wouldn't be many strawberries for $2 extra, so I checked it out. Six small chunks of strawbs on top and about 10 pieces scattered among the 3 pancakes. That was really sad. It came with a homemade fake maple syrup. Why would you go through all that trouble? It was the best fake maple I've ever had, but it's not maple! (And there wasn't NEARLY enough of it for 3 pancakes. NEARLY.) The cakes themselves? Average. I can make better. These were kind of dense - someone mentioned that as if it was a good thing, but these were on the biscuity-dry spectrum. Pancakes should be moist and fluffy. To add sweet, sweet insult to injury, I forgot to check in on Yelp over lunch. I walked for a bit, came back, checked in, and noticed it gave me a free cookie. I asked about it, but they were out of cookies. Was there anything else they could give? "The only thing that's the same price is a bagel." Well, that's nice. That's great customer service there. Maybe you want to just throw in something that's a few cents more? Pick the smallest brownie? Something desserty? No? Okay. That ruined your chances to get more stars - I was leaning toward 3 stars overall for the overpriced mediocre pancakes, but that settled it. Absolutely delicious food, they had a good service and it was very popular. We had to wait for about 45 minutes to get a table on Saturday morning for brunch. So please plan ahead, you can get food and sit outside if you want to but it needs to be at least 70° to do that or else because of the shade you will feel cold. After trying a couple of other places and getting turned away because no tables were available, we wandered into this bistro/cafe/bakery and were led to a comfy table. I ordered the ahi tuna wrap and my wife got the special grilled cheese with tomato soup. Both were outstanding--well-balanced flavors, generous (but not overwhelming) portions--and clearly made with care and attention to detail. The sourdough that the grilled cheese was made with was just the right combo of chewy, fluffy, and crisp, and the brightness of the tomato soup was the perfect complement. The ahi was fresh, garnished with shredded cabbage slaw, great flavor combo. I also had a cold brew--refreshing and delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. It was our first time eating indoors at a restaurant since the pandemic began () and the staff was kind enough to let us sit on the bakery side to avoid exposure. We tried the huevos rancheros with scrambled eggs which was very different than what I've had elsewhere. Here they served it on a delicious baguette but a bit difficult to eat because the beans and tomatoes were rolling off constantly. Also wish there were a little more scrambled eggs. Also tried the caprese press...the bread was absolutely delicious and fresh. I was also a huge fan of the homemade pickles. Recently discovered this gem and highly recommend them!! The cafe/bakery has a great and fun vibe to it. Besides the food being delicious, the staff are super friendly and outstanding! Gabriella is an awesome waitress and Marissa makes great mimosas with their fresh squeezed OJ. I was so looking forward to the bread pudding, but they had none made the day we went. Alex the bakery manager didn't hesitate to whip up a pan of their bread pudding after I told him I drove 40 minutes for it. The bread at Beacon Bread Company is absolutely delicious. I love how cute and quaint it is, but just be prepared on the weekends to wait for a table. The food was really good, but one thing I could have wished to be different was my soup to be served first rather than with my meal since the table for two is so small. I ordered French onion soup and it was quite good, but wished there was more cheese rather than the cheese just being on top of a small piece of bread floating on top. The caprese sandwich was excellent on peasant bread with a basil aioli and fresh tomatoes. The fries, while homemade and delicious, they were seasoned with a tad too much of pepper on it. It wasn't really seasoning as opposed to to just way too much pepper. However, the sandwich was quite tasty and the homemade mozzarella was top notch. My friend ordered the vegan pancakes and she said they were decent, but not the best she's had. I would have no frame of reference there because I don't eat vegan pancakes. The coffee was strong and delicious but it would have been lovely to have it refilled. It was obvious they were down a person that day because they were busy and doing their very best to keep up, so I have to give them credit. I heard the servers taking orders and offering menu items as suggestions to people and they are all well versed in the food and very friendly. The bread alone is worth coming here. I visit Beacon about once a week to visit my girlfriend. When I do visit, I check out the Bread Company's wait and how packed it is, and if it doesn't seem over-the-top busy, it is my first choice for Brunch. Their morning cocktail "Beacon Special" is awesome, a unique take on an Irish Coffee. My S/O loves the bacon egg and cheese and the breakfast tacos. My brother really enjoyed his pancakes (dense and chewy) and bacon, and my nana liked her grilled cheese (although the cheddar used was a little mild). They also charged me a 20% AUTO gratuity. I'm from nyc. I have never paid 20% for such poor service in ny. They also charge an additional fee if you use a credit card. 0 stars if I could. Please do yourself a favor, and do NOT go here! I repeat, PLEASE find a different place for food. I honestly was really excited for this upstate day trip and trying this place. It was busy, and the menu looked promising. Many places in upstate have a nice farm to table concept, and this place caught our eye because it baked its own bread. The servers are not attentive even though they're nice. Unapologetic about the lack of service and super long wait times. We waited a while to even get our order in, and then it was about an hour when we sat down to when we got our food. We understand that it gets busy, and we even put ourselves out of the city mindset of everything being fast, fast, fast. I could've given a pass on the lack of service if the food was just even good, didn't have to be great. It was awful! I could've cooked basic things better than that. The omelet was edible but bland, the ricotta pancakes tasted worse than if they were made of a box, and the sad excuse for breakfast tacos were mortifying. No meat in there at all, and the eggs were soggy. I wasn't expecting Texas breakfast tacos, but this was just so sad. One of the worst meals I've had, and I'd rather go get some delicious fast food than come here again. I've gotten way better food in the city for cheaper. I really don't know how this place is in business, other tables were experiencing the same things we did. This really dampened the beginning of our day trip! :( read more

Had a pastry from here once before that was delicious so thought we would try lunch. Not a good experience unfortunately. Ordered fairly quickly, quiche and onion soup with camomile tea. My daughter just had a small soup of the day. It took way too long to bring out the food for lunch! The quiche (which the waitress said was being cooked) was bland and had very little spinach....and was not that hot if they were actually cooking it. My onion soup seemed to be the average onion soup and was warm but not hot. I was not going to send anything back since we waited so long to get it!! My tea was actually hot, but the honey seemed to be watered down and very runny. My daughter's butternut squash soup was good and thick with nice seasonings however she thought it was too spicy. After I paid the bill, my daughter noticed that we were overcharged for her small soup. They made that good with a free chocolate croissant which was very good. read more
