Absolutely delicious, especially the tuna salad sandwich. A must stop when traveling the north coast.

Everything I've had here from coffee to breakfast to lunch is the best quality available. One time my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I ordered too much food. While they don't have to go containers (yay for the environment), they gave me an egg carton to take my cake home in. I really appreciated that. They have mason jars for sale for $1 if you forget to bring your reusable mug. Thank you Beachcomber for being an amazing example of a business who live out its core values...no paper cups in sight YAY! This place has street parking and is a very short walk to the beautiful lighthouse for the best ocean view I've ever seen. You can also walk down to the beach a few different ways from here. Come get your fuel for a hike around Trinidad Head :) Bring cash. Occasionally they have live music and always have local art displayed. Bathroom is clean. read more

I love this place. Awesom eco-freindly spot. Bring your own to-go cup if want to take your coffee and run. Also don't come here if you are in a hurry. Good things take time. Great tea selection and a nice outdoor seating area are just a few of the highlights. They always have amazing specials and delicous homemade soups. While on a very long road trip from San Diego to Seattle, we stayed in Trinidad for a couple days. Being coffee addicts, we quickly stumbled upon the Beachcomber Cafe and LOVED IT! We were pleasantly surprised that they did not have to-go cups for coffee. Instead, you bring in your own cup or buy a mason jar for $1. I applaud your dedication to sustainability :) The mexican mocha's were amazing and the Americano's were bold, strong, and not acidic at all. Great coffee. As for the pastries... just as good. I fell in love with the lemon lavendar scone. You gotta try it! We went back at the end of our hike for more coffee, but they were closed :( I guess we are spoiled living in Seattle and being able to get coffee 24/7 - but you can bet we were right there in line again the next morning. Very friendly staff too. That is one of the things I told my boyfriend - I loved that the counter lady was friendly and made the time to talk to each and every person. Keep up the good work you guys! We enjoyed our stop at the Beachcomber Cafe. There a line, but it moved quickly and everyone was in good spirits, not in a rush. I read some complaints here about the staff not being friendly but found this was not the case for us. Very kind, upbeat service. We enjoyed our meals (my hubby had the bean bowl, I had a turkey panini, very very good). Others also complained about having to walk your dirty dishes a foot or two to place them in conveniently located bins. Seriously?? If you are looking for an elegant breakfast or lunch with full service, this is not it. But if you are game for very good fresh, organic food, its worth the short wait. read more

Good healthy food! We each got a bagel and split them, the larrupin sauce is tasty! The hummus is really good on the condescending vegan is excellent. The beach Comber is also tasty. We ended up getting our food to go because there were some quite noisy children playing in the inside kid area. read more

They care about the food. We hit the tail end of the breakfast rush and I ended up giving my order to the chef. She cautioned me that the swiss cheese on the Grizz took a little longer to come to the correct consistency (my husband said it was more than worth the short wait) and when I wanted to skip the two eggs on the polenta special, she suggested substituting avocado and goat cheese. Both breakfasts were excellent. We sat out on the patio, enjoying a sea breeze and superb coffee. Hit this place on our camping trip up hwy 101 to WA, spent the night in Trinidad in the redwoods. A good buddy in Arcata recommended this place - out of 5 days north to WA and 3 days south (coffee & bagels every morning), this was the best place by far out of our entire trip (and we hit a lot of places in OR & WA). Had the Salmon bagel w/ onions and capers - just awesome - and the pesto/sun-dried tomato bagel... sigh. So good!! Even the house coffee was the BEST, my girlfriend had a soy-latte, and it was the best of our trip as well! We'll be back for sure on our next trip! Small kitchen, cool vibe, artwork on the walls, friendly locals. And yes - bring your own cup if you want it 'to-go'. Coffee is so good, bring a thermos!! read more

We accidentally found this place (and the spec) on our way from Sacramento to Portland. We had simple food -- eggs, toast, avocado, coconut curry lentil soup and tuna -- and it was prepared excellently. The counter person was friendly and helpful, and had a great smile. My partner said she'd go back for it alone! The food matched the locale. That's a huge compliment. read more

Over priced, small portions, takes forever weather it's busy or not, feels kinda sexist

We stopped in on our trip to the Redwood area, we were staying in a local inn and wanted some coffee early. We enjoyed some of their baked goods that were delicious, a lovely apple cake. The baker herself seemed very friendly in the back. Espresso was good and strong. I can't give a full 5 star review because of the condescending attitude from the woman who took our order. While we have experienced mostly friendliness on our visits to this other side of the country, this wasn't one of the times, maybe they just don't take kindly To strangers, as all the locals and regulars that came in seemed to be treated just fine. Maybe it's all My fault because I asked for the coffee to go and was told "we are tree loving hippies here" with a attitude and eye roll. I admire their efforts, so they didn't have to go cups, totally respect the conservation efforts but save the attitude. I'd also be happy to pay some extra for a to go cup, whatever. I too love the trees, exactly why I traveled across The country to see these amazing ones! read more

This little place was exactly what I needed coffee and locally sourced organic food- perfect before the hiking got started- I forgot my travel cup but was able to purchase a mason jar with a lid- and that worked out so perfectly- I used it later to keep all of the beautiful shells and agates that I found at agate beach- add in a little piece of driftwood and it's a beautiful souvenir of a great weekend- the coffee was definitely on the sweet side for my taste but the bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon was so amazing it would have been worth the visit by itself read more

Small place caters to locals and organic and vegetarian. The breakfast here was just average, when i asked to have my eggs scrambled, the girl at the desk had to ask the cook if she could do it because the only egg choice on the menu was poached. I wouldnt go back, but i saw them serving up coffee drinks and they looked pretty good. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got to. The menu looked good (took a while to find the food menu) and fresh cookies were being put out. I was a little confused on the cup situation,what coffee cups were for sale or for use, then I saw the small sign on the leg of the table. I ordered the beachcomber special it sounded really good but when I got it my bagel was slightly burnt with very little cream cheese it was mostly avocado and larupin. I was totally fine with bussing my own table but there was no trash for my napkins or recycling for my soda bottle so I just put it all in the one tub on the rack. Just seemed like a mess for the workers who have to do dishes. I liked the eating area set up and the way the art was displayed other than that the longer I stayed the more improvements I noticed could happen. read more

The Beachcomber Cafe in Trinidad is definitely one of my favorite places in the Eureka-Arcata-Trinidad area! The food is vibrant, fresh and healthy---and they offer delicious gluten-free and vegan treats. I always bring out-of-town guests here for lunch or a treat. Their ordering system can be a little chaotic because the space is relatively small---but it is totally worth the chaos! Also, note that if you want a TO-GO drink, you either need to bring your own container, or be prepared to pay for a mason jar. I really respect their commitment to decreasing waste! read more

I love the new decor. This is a great place for lunch. I enjoy the bean bowl which has two eggs, beans, cheese, tomato and onions all mixed together in a bowl. It is filling and I can skip a meal after eating it. I no longer drink coffee but did enjoy the English breakfast tea I had there. Soups are always very good as well as deserts. read more

My family stopped here for a late lunch while visiting Trinidad and the surrounding area. It's a cute cafe with lots of artwork and pictures of hearts on the walls. The food took a while to bring out, but when we finally got it, it was totally worth the wait. I got a cup of soup and a hot turkey sandwich. I never thought something as simple as a turkey sandwich could be so good, but somehow it was. Smelled like curry in there, they were out of napkins, mixed in dirty spoons with clean ones (everything is serve yourself). The food was pretty decent but I would never go back there. Totally agree with one reviewer that it seems pretentious. Had a Berkeley vibe to it. Unless you are local or a hippie, you will not feel very welcome. read more

This was a fine little lunch stop on a drive down the coast. The perky, pretty staff told me they were out of smoked salmon, but could they make my bagel with smoked tuna? We both ordered a mocha and chai tea, I also ordered a specialty bagel called the "Eggie" but it took over 30 minutes to make and almost made us late to our appointment.
